Gastrodon <3s doubles

Peaked at #11 on the ladder with almost 1850, not too shabby.

Hitmontop (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Mach Punch
- Fake Out
- Wide Guard

Hitmontop is already recognized on his doubles throne with Cresselia. IMO, Wide Guard+Mach Punch is waaaayyy better than any combination involving Sucker Punch. Spread moves are extremely common and you can often get a free switch or attack for your partner when both opponents use spreads. It has the added benefit of protecting against my own Surf spam.

Gastrodon @ Choice Specs
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Icy Wind

This is the BEAST!! Opponent used Surf? Gastrodon laughs. Opponent used Heat Wave? Gastrodon is not impressed. Discharge? Rock Slide? Sandstorm Stall? Hydro Pump or Scald? Lol Gastrodon just giggles at 95% of the attacks used in doubles. Surf Spam is great for late-game sweeping. Icy Wind provides support+spread. Earth Power is for opposing water absorbers or if I need a strong single targeting STAB. Ice Beam is for dragons. This guy has AMAZING synergy with Heatran. Heatran comes in on grass attacks, Gastrodon comes in on water attacks.

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Dragon Pulse
- Earth Power
- Heat Wave
- Overheat

"Oh, I didn't expect scarf". I get that all the time. Scarf users are extremely underrated in this metagame that's all about KOing faster than you get KOed. Heatran's Heat Wave is ridiculously powerful, enough said. His resistances and immunity round off his usefulness to the team. Earth Power is for fire types. Overheat is for the quick nuke. Dragon Pulse is for dragons, water types and if I have to be locked into a reliable move. Protect might be swapped in somewhere soon.

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Heat Wave
- Surf
- Protect
- Draco Meteor

So.. I basically searched for Pokemon that knew Heat Wave+Surf and this guy popped up. He has everything I need. He comes in when I have Tailwind up and has 3 great options to blast the opponent. Protect works especially well on him as he lures powerful single-targeting ice, fighting and dragon attacks. The EQ immunity, discharge resist, heat wave resist, and surf resist all help a lot too.

Kingdra @ Absorb Bulb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hydro Pump
- Surf
- Dragon Pulse

This guy started in my mind as a rain counter. Come to find out that the higher up the ladder you go, the less rain there is =[
That's when I felt it was neccessary to add Tailwind support. This guy is pretty obvious. Absorb bulb+4x water resist+abuse STAB moves. Hydro Pump+Draco Meteor is for bulky stuff. Dragon Pulse is very situational. Surf is for obvious Surf spamming.

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Air Slash
- Safeguard
- Thunder Wave
- Tailwind

This slot was Skymin at first, who ultimately sucked. It was targeted all the time and had lame bulk. Togekiss gets to still abuse Air Slash+Tailwind, but also has respectable bulk+typing. Thunder Wave is preferred over Tailwind against something that looks like its going to stick around for a while and won't use Protect this turn. Safeguard is purely because higher up in the ladder people spam status. I may or may not swap for Heal Bell.. They each have their own perks.

Your descriptions for Heatran, Kingdra and Togekiss are breaking the RMT rules. You need at the very leats three lines for each of your Pokemon. Please fix this as soon as possible or I'll have to lock this thread.

So just a nitpick-i'm aware how great protect is, but if you're really using tailwind, you might want to put it on Hydreigon, too.
