Description:
The clinic and all its wards explode, sending debris and waves of heated air emanating through the city and beyond its borders. Nurses, doctors, and even the little boys within are blown to infinitesimal pieces, and the resulting damage collapses the majority of the housing complexes, trapping some sixty percent of the population underneath mountains of rubble. Ominously, it is silent; everybody is too far buried to be audible. That, or dead. Overcome, those still standing fling themselves to the ground, ratcheting up jet after jet of bile, finally accepting reality. The air itself is heavy, laden with sadness and the numerous particles decimated into bits too small for the human eye to recognize. A dense mist fills the sky above the destruction around you, perhaps from tears.

Yet the most destructive force is still to come. In the days that follow, those who were lucky enough to escape their tombs fall to the ground, no longer breathing. The radiation is pervasive. It passes over nobody, leaves not one unscathed. It augments the toxins already in the air, turning small poisons lethal, small wounds fatal. The sky is inappropriately clear, though from below it's hard to see the sun shining through at all; in fact, it's hard to see anything. Is this reality...?

Today, this simulation room is designed to give each person an accurate impression as to the setting immediately in the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing. As you know, this bombing injured over 150,000 citizens of the city, as well as over 90% of the nurses and doctors present in Hiroshima. We ask that you respect the simulation room and what is stands for by refraining from using overly powerful attacks as well as attack-enhancing items. Thank you.

Summary:

  • +1 flat Speed for Pokemon adapted to the environment.
  • The strength of toxins is increased.
    • BPSN starts at 2 DPA instead of the normal 1 DPA.
    • If a Pokemon that is afflicted with PSN would get poisoned again, it instead turns into BPSN, which escalates to 3 DPA at the end of the round.
  • Poison Mist is active, dealing 0.6 DPA to all Pokemon without a Poison or non-corroded Steel typing, and causes them to count as being PSNed for the purposes of moves, but not abilities. It will cause the corrosion of Steel-types after one round of exposure. A Pokemon can be PSNed in addition to the Mist. Poison Mist increases the BAP of Water-type attacks by 1.5, decreases the BAP of Fire-type attacks by 1.5, activates Rain Dish and Dry Skin, and increases the accuracy of Thunder to 85%. Weather Ball is Water-type.
    • If Rain is brought to the field, the DPA of the Mist will double. All other effects of Rain will override those of Poison Mist. However, Hydration will only work if the Pokemon is Poison-type. Rain Dance lasts 1 more round.
    • Sunny Day, Hail, and Sandstorm last for 1 less round, while their respective abilities will bring the weather in for 4 rounds. Sun, Hail, and Sand will double the DPA of the Mist. Sun will increase the BAP of Fire-types by 1.5, decrease the BAP of Water-types by 1.5, cause Chlorophyll to only increase Speed by 50% unless the Pokemon is Poison-type, and override Poison Mist with its remaining effects. Hail will increase Blizzard's accuracy to 85% and halve healing from Ice Body. Sand will activate Sand Rush, Sand Veil, and Sand Force at half value.
    • Air Lock and Cloud Nine if activated will cancel all effects except for the DPA and, for standard Poison Mist, activation of Dry Skin and Rain Dish due to the humidity being a non-conditional aspect.
  • All Pokemon that are Poison-type, have the ability Liquid Ooze, or have either Acid or Acid Spray learn Gastro Acid.
  • The items Choice Band, Choice Specs, Life Orb, Expert Belt, Muscle Band, Wise Glasses, as well as Evolutionary Stones, Elemental Gems, and +4 DMG items (e.g. Silk Scarf) have no effect. Black Sludge's effect is doubled if it would not be increased already by ability.

So guys, we are here with another Gym Challenger in our hands and a gruesome challenge this is!

Today Texas Cloverleaf, the newly appointed Dragon Gym Leader will challenge Engineer Pikachu the Poison Gym Leader!

Engineer Pikachu was an undefeated leader until a while ago, when he was throughly beaten by Its_A_Random's Gutsy Colossoil and some other pokemon. After that battle, Engineer changed his gym and the battle format so it suits his style better. The Poison Gym enforces a conservative playstyle, where the player can't just go all out and expect to win. Oh no sire. To suceed here, you need to either find a loophole or come with a good long term strategy.

From the leader's team play close attention to...well, all of it. The Poison Gym Team works as one entity. But if you really have to, pay attention to Tanka the Venusaur. His healing abilities go really well with the nature with this gym and if you saw Lord Jesseus's challenge you can see the damage it can do.

The challenger Texas Cloverleaf is a veteran in Gym Battles. Sporting a victory against the Flying Gym and a defeat against the Ground Gym, as well as the Dragon Gym, he had his good and bad times facing gyms. Pay close attention to Slasher the Haxorus. While he may not have a glaring type advantage, his sheer power should be close to enough to overcome the ooziness of this oozy arena of ooze.

Now let's see the teams!

(Innate) This Pokemon’s body structure makes it immune to status lowering moves used by opponents. (e.g. Intimidate, Growl, Screech etc.)
Light Metal (DW):
(Innate) The Pokemon's body is made of a lightweight but extremely strong alloy. It weighs half as much as other members of the species, but is equally sturdy. The Pokemon executes weak attacks much more effectively, adding +1 priority to all their attacks with 6 or less Base Attack Power (after other ability adjustments). Priority is applied to the summed Base Attack Power of a multi-hit move (e.g. Double Kick has priority at 6 BAP, Skill Link Bullet Seed doesn't at 15 BAP.)

Round 1

Aaaaaaand let's get this started! before the mist corrodes my lovely skin

The challenger sends out Sharky the Garchomp with nothing to start this with the right foot. The arena effects nullify most items people actually buy, which is probably why Garchomp is empty-handed.

To counterattack, the Leader sends out Tanka the Venusaur with Black Sludge. With the mist serving as protection against fire attacks, Garchomp has little to harm Venusaur, making this a very favourable matchup.

And the battle starts with a display of...love? Sharky starts winking at Tanka and little pink hearts float everywhere. One of them touches Tanka's face and BAM insta-love. a Slight Attraction (2 actions).

And Tanka is so infatuated with love that it became Immobilized due to love, which earned it a couple angry shouts from the Gym Leader. Hearing that made Tanka go back to her senses and realize that this was a possible match. She was a plant, Sharky was a dragon. It could never be successful.

or some crap like that.

On the following turn, Sharky sets up the field with the always useful Stealth Rock, a move that always pays for itself and more in +3vs matches like this one. On the other side Tanka attacks with Hidden Power Ice, for great damage.

Finally, Sharky tries to attack as well with a strong Earthquake, but he loses the damage run as Tanka hurts him badly with another Hidden Power Ice, while getting recovery from her Black Sludge.

Also, Sharky's face is slighty corroded by the poison mist. oh joy.

Round 2

The Challenger calls back his Garchomp and sends out Slasher the Haxorus with squat. Is it enough to break through this ohgodsofuckingdisgusting mist? let's find out.

Slasher starts this match by Taunting Venusaur. But Tanka doesn't mind launching on all out offense, starting with Sludge Bomb.

On the second turn, Slasher is Outraged at how Venusaur just-won't-die and attacks it viciously. Unfortunately for Slasher, a he, Rivalry makes the attack not as powerful against Tanka, a she. But the Venusaur doesn't have that problem and uses the poison mist to fuel a highly powerful Venoshock.

Finally, Slasher continues his Outraged strike, while Venusaur attacks with Hidden Power Ice.

Tanka managed thus far, to deal more than the double of the damage she received. The challenger doesn't seem to be managing to break through the Leader's tough defenses. He better form a good strategy fast or else...

It fails though as Toxicroak manages to Bounce his way out of the damage A1 and A3. Luckily for Texas, Rocky got a Critical Hit AND a SpD reduction with Psychic A2, while Kailu used Earthquake for not comparable damage.

Still, the Black Sludge + Mist means Toxicroak wins the damage race this round. Somehow.
