Canis Majoris vs. Maserato in the ASB Arena! (reffed by Flamestrike)

Hello ladies and gents, and welcome to the ASB Arena! Here today we have two new(ish) (I've been away so don't mind me if they aren't actually new) combattants looking to train their Pokemon! The rules of the match are as follows:

And our first battler, Canis Majoris! His Pokemon of choice are Petilil and Mime Jr., a solid pairing if I've ever seen one! Here are some details about the Pokemon!

A very shy Petilil, Lily tries not to battle if possible, but she will go all out if needed. Hurting her friends is a death sentence, however - she will not hesitate to rely on a burst of power in that case.

Nature: Timid (+15% Speed, +5% Accuracy, -1 Atk)
Type: Grass
Grass: Grass STAB; immunity to Leech Seed and Worry Seed. 50% reduction in status effect chance of oncoming "powder" attacks. More mobile in areas with strong natural light sources. Superior senses in tall grass and forest areas. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus.

Chlorophyll: (Innate) During bright sunlight, this Pokemon’s cells absorb more solar energy, doubling (x2) their speed.

Own Tempo: (Innate) This Pokemon moves at its own pace and when confused, it will never harm itself in confusion. If the Pokemon also has Tangled Feet, it will raise Accuracy by one (1) Stage.

Mime is unsurprisingly mute, but that doesn't mean he can't express his feelings! He sees each partner as a hinderance or help towards his goal - to become the ultimate Mr. Mime.

Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
Type: Psychic
Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Soundproof: (Innate) Pokemon with this ability emit their own powerful electrostatic or sound-dampening field, making them immune to sound-based moves other than an ally's or their own Heal Bell. Filter: (Innate) This Pokemon has a special energy barrier that reduces the Base Attack Power of any opponent’s super effective attack by two (2).
Technician: (DW) (Locked) (Innate) This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their one-hit or two-hit attacks that normally have 6 or less Base Attack Power to have their Base Attack Power on each hit multiplied by 1.5. (e.g. Aerial Ace goes from 6 to 9, Mach Punch goes from 4 to 6, Double Hit to from 4 per hit to 6 per hit etc.) The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) Base Attack Power, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2). Because Technician is a multiplier on single hit moves, its effect is applied to Base Attack Power before any additive effects. Technician only applies to combos in the rare case that an initial hit will have 6 or less BAP.

Levitate: (Trait) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the Ground moves Bulldoze, Earthquake, Fissure, and Magnitude. Earth Power will have three (3) less Base Attack Power. Dig and Dive can strike a Levitating Pokemon if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Otherwise Dig and Dive will miss. Ground moves can still hit. Levitate Pokemon will retain the Levitate trait when they use Skill Swap on an enemy, and will steal the opponent's ability (the user can specify if they want a foe or ally to gain Levitate from a Skill Swap.) And here we go! Canis Majoris starts us off with Lily the Petilil, while Maserato counters with his Riolu, Anubis! Anubis starts us off, and he decides to prepare for the future with a Bulk Up! His Attack and Defense rise, but we'll see just how much that helps him as Lily takes the opportunity to spray him with some Toxic sludge! Now that Anubis is badly poisoned, he's on quite the clock!

Looking to draw first blood in the match, Anubis goes for a powerful Blaze Kick, but Lily blocks it with a timely Protect! However, Anubis is a crafty fighter and immediately follows up with an Ice Punch! It connects and poor Lily is sent spinning away! But the Petilil recovers, and she gets the last laugh when she sticks a Leech Seed on the Riolu! At the end of the round, Anubis is ahead in HP and Energy, but with both a Leech Seed and a rapidly-stacking poison to deal with, the tides could easily turn! What will happen next?

Anubis comes out swinging for the second round, and lands a blistering Blaze Kick on Lily! Lily takes it like a champ though, and responds with a Stun Spore that leaves Anubis paralyzed! That gives Lily the speed edge for the first time in the match, but not for long as Anubis's Prankster allows him to counter with a Copycat before Lily can do anything! The Riolu copies Lily's Stun Spore, and even with her natural protection against powders and spores due to being a grass type, Lily is left paralyzed as well! Perhaps because she wasn't expecting it, Lily is unable to fight off the paralysis and is fully paralyzed for the action! Anubis takes full advantage, smashing her in the face with an Ice Punch, and the poor little Petilil can't even retaliate because she is yet again fully paralyzed! It's a good thing she had that Toxic and Leech Seed, as those are the only damage sources she got for the round! Can she turn it around next round or will Anubis get the first KO of the match?

Here we go again, and this time Lily quickly uses Protect to save herself from any painful moves she might be seeing early on; however, Anubis sees this coming and simply chills instead, regaining some much needed energy! However, he then gets fully paralyzed, giving Lily the opening she needs to hit him with a Giga Drain! it catches a weak spot, scoring a critical hit, and gives Lily back some much-needed HP! On the bright side, Anubis finally gets rid of the Leech Seed, and goes to retaliate with an Ice Punch! However, Lily is ready and throws up a timely Protect to block the attack! Lily has jumped into the lead health-wise, but she is starting to look pretty tired! Can she hang on and let the Toxic do its work, or will Anubis find a way to break through her defenses?

Lily, feeling exhausted from the long battle, chills to recover some much needed energy, but this gives Anubis the time he needs to unleash a Super Ice Punch! That hurt a lot! Anubis needs time to recover from his combo though, and Lily takes advantage to stick another Leech Seed on the Riolu! And then Anubis gets fully paralyzed, allowing Lily to put another Stun Spore on Anubis to refresh the paralysis just before it wears off! Now Lily is no longer paralyzed and Anubis has a fresh paralysis, and that poison and Leech Seed damage is definitely adding up! Can Anubis turn this around or will Lily take home first blood?

However, she makes the crucial mistake of trying to regain some energy with a chill instead of taking advantage of the opening, and while Nohandlebars slept for that action he woke up and knocked out Lily with a Shadow Sneak before she could use that newfound energy! Now both trainers are down to one Pokemon as Canis sends out Mime the Mime Jr.! Who will win? If the match so far is any indication, it's definitely going to go down to the wire!
