Arena:
Arena Type: Urban
Field Type: Poison, Water
Complexity: Intense
Formats: All Formats

Restrictions: OHKO moves are banned.

Description:
In the beautiful world of PYREX™ lies a gigantic titration flask, half-full with some ungodly acid; the opening is barely large enough for daring trainers to slip through, and so, of course, that's where the gym battles always take place.

Anything poisonous is powered up in this flask, especially slow-acting toxins. Acid constantly eats away at those affected by it, taking its toll over long periods of time—not even pressure equalization can stop the acid from doing its deed. Yet, the water content is enough those who need it to draw their power from.

Despite borosilicate's resistance to thermal expansion and network solid configuration, it's still quite fragile and vulnerable to a Pokemon's attacks. As such, all of the highly powerful attacks are outright banned, as are items whose sole purpose are to increase damage. That's all there is to it.

Summary:
Effects

  • BPSN starts at 2 DPA instead of the normal 1 DPA.
  • Pokemon without a Poison or non-corroded Steel typing take 1/3 DPA.
  • Rain Dish and Dry Skin are activated at half value in clear weather.
  • Choice Band, Choice Specs, Life Orb, Expert Belt, Muscle Band, Wise Glasses, Evolutionary Stones, Elemental Gems, and +4 DMG items (e.g. Silk Scarf) have no effect.
  • Black Sludge has its effect increased by 50% if it is not boosted by the holder's ability.
Codifications

  • A Pokemon afflicted with PSN that would be PSNed again by an attack will have PSN replaced with BPSN which starts at 2 DPA.
  • Weather Ball is Water-type.
  • SolarBeam retains its full BAP. Morning Sun, Moonlight, and Synthesis restore default amounts of HP.
  • Camouflage replaces the user's typing with a Poison typing.
  • Air Lock and Cloud Nine have no effect on acid DMG.

NATR: Hasty (+15% Speed, +19% [18.54%] Acc, -1 Def)

Type: Ghost / Poison
Ghost STAB; brief intangibility that nullifies Normal and Fighting-type attacks. Can move through walls for a brief period of time but must remain in motion. Superior senses in low light and inside dark buildings. Have no vision reduction in hazes.

Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.

ABILITIES
Levitate: (Innate) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading Ground moves like Bulldoze, Dig, Earthquake, and Magnitude. Other Ground moves can still hit. Levitate Pokemon will retain the Levitate trait when they use Skill Swap on an enemy, and will steal the opponent's ability (the user can specify if they want a foe or ally to gain Levitate from a Skill Swap.) If a Pokemon with Levitate uses Role Play, they will copy the opponent's abilities and retain Levitate.

The Pokemon absorbs the damage of water attacks and recovers 25% of HP the damage that would have been inflicted.
Poison Touch (Unlocked): (Can be Disabled) This Pokemon's body is covered with a film of poison. Whenever it hits an opponent with a contact attack, that opponent has a 30% chance of being Poisoned. Abilities:
Sand Veil:
(Innate) This Pokemon is used to reacting in desert conditions and gets a 20% evasion boost during Sandstorms. Pokemon with this ability are immune to Sandstorm damage.
Hyper Cutter: (Innate) This Pokemon always keeps its claws/teeth/pincers extremely sharp, and thus cannot have its attack reduced.
Poison Heal: (Innate) Pokemon with this ability have internal structures that absorb the toxins in poison and uses them to recover two (2) HP/action instead of taking poison damage. When a Pokemon with Poison Heal inflicts Poison on themselves with an attack, it uses up one of their Recovery Moves. If Toxic'd, the Toxic counter will still go up each round and Toxic will do the relevant damage for that round should their ability be disabled.

Pressure: (Innate) This Pokemon’s presence fills the air with intense anxiety, and any damaging or status attack launched at this Pokemon costs the opposing Pokemon two (2) more energy to perform.

"Wonderful," I muttered under my breath. Narga couldn't fit into the glask - the fumes in there might not be best for him anyway - so I'm in here alone, in a hazards suit covered by Engi's insurance company, as he and Pwne stood on opposite platforms made of polymeric materials (thankfully these acids are not volatile). There are other platforms interlocked between them two, so that a Pokemon can move about without falling into the acid 10 feet underneath them. I flip the coin as they watch, and as it falls to my palm...

RNG Roll (LEAD) [<=5000 ENGI; >5000 PWNE]: 788/10000 (ENGI)

I hurriedly stow away the coin as I don't want it to get corroded - it is a historical artifact after all, albeit a minor one.

Thankfully, the suit is pretty lightweight, and it doesn't restrict my view, so I can get to do my job quite well. Onto it - Pwne sends out Newman-Kitsunoh to give Engi a bit of a trouble on how to corrode a non-concrete, steel ghost. At least Golurk was a solid construct... Engi responds by going for Kozu-Crobat, fluttering around Newman-Kitsunoh as the latter tries to paw at it.

"Slow her down, Newman!"
"Dodge the Winds!"

Despite their proximity, Newman-Kitsunoh's attack still fails to hit the Flying target, though it does provide some air-conditioning - and uh, I think some of the acid is coalescing. Alarmed, Engi quickly orders, "Heat it back up again, Kozu."

Waves of ripples travel through the air near Kozu-Crobat's wings before they reach the surface, clearing the solution again. Hmm, apparently this acid cannot be cooled to below room temperature? Pwne didn't care, though, as Newman-Kitsunoh took the opportunity to dash with the speed of a falling Meteor and Mash on the slightly panicky bat. Angry at a good deed being repaid badly, Kozu-Crobat Torments Newman-Kitsunoh's conscience. I had thought that wouldn't work, but apparently the mask-ghost did have one, because his second hit never connect....

Kozu-Crobat decides that speedy, disruptive tactics won't work as good as outright attacks, so it launches a Confuse Ray towards Newman-Kitsunoh before carefully Heating the air around the ghost, trapping it in a Wave of steamy, poisonous fumes. The latter did nothing much to stop Newman-Kitsunoh from Taunting the bat to do worse, though he did hit his head on the glass soon after, which... cleared his head! Struck by a sudden clarity, Newman-Kitsunoh leaped through Kozu-Crobat, and managed to drain the very life force out of his opponent. The glass nearly cracked and Split with Kozu-Crobat's Pained cry, but luckily Engi managed to calm him down... "Congratulations, Pwne. Now you irritated the chemicals, and the flask."

As both sides continue to wear each other down, Kozu-Crobat reprimanded Newman-Kitsunoh's actions with a Slash of Air. Not being Togekiss, the rebuke was disregarded - the latter simply lights up aother fire in the flier's underbelly, and Kozu-Crobat flies even higher with the Wispy body to avoid accidentally disturbing the solution far below. Making sure she was flying above a platform, that none of her burnt tissue would fall into the acidic concoction, she billows a localised cyclone of Heat, and then sent the Cloud right after Newman-Kitsunoh, who simply leapt, fell lke a Meteor, and Struck through the Shadows. Despite some powerful attacks and a combo, the damage done to both sides is still quite abysmal - well have to observe whether the next round can draw blood.

And the situation finally starts to get gripping in another round of largely assault trading. Kozu-Crobat tried to burn and Confuse Newman-Kitsunoh, but a simple Protective measure prevented the latter, while the hax gods denied Engi the former. Even while the fists of Meteorite and the wings of Heat collided, the burns took their toll on the flier. The masked one looks set to win this outcome, but Pwne's lead is very brief, anyway... One has to wonder, is this slow but close race harbouring a sinister, long-termed plan?

In a flash, Newman-Kitsunoh scares the Balck Sludge out of Kozu-Crobat's throat. As the fainted bat fell, Engi retrieved her with a Pokeball, and examines not the masked one, but the lad opposite the way a scientist eyes a new specimen, running calculations, preparing the procedures, going through the test in his mind. Youma-Gengar phasees into the flask, his ever-present maniacal grin taking on a predatory context upon sight of Newman-Kitsunoh's extra-shiny exterior masking a trembling aura. But Pwne prepared extensively for it. Before the poltergeist could move, his opponent pounced - so fast that my eye can only track a silvery blur before the victim - no, it's actually the assailant who fell! That's it! Newman-Kitsunoh is finally down, even though Youma-Gengar is not in a particularly good shape, either... The scales haven't tipped yet, but I'm thinking it'll happen as soon as either side slips, be it even a little...

Engi tried a calculating approach, with Youma-Gengar Taunting Sid-Colossoil despite the wad of Mud Shot spat his way, then laughing at the lumbering narwhal's face as it Split Pain and sapped strength from its much larger opponent. But Youma-Gengar always had a tendency to carry to far, being insidious in it's birthright. It had forgotten that the drill-snout monstrosity towering above it is born and bred to cannibalize darkness wherewithal he lives and hides. Sid-Colossoil is cunning indeed, to discretely foster a gravitational point of dark energy after failing to construct the protective sphere - too late did Engi witness the black matter bubbling towards Pwne's behemoth from the solution underneath and thus realise the ploy. By then, Youma-Gengar was being swallowed whole in a resounding Crunch.

Engi scowled, though he did not appear surprised. He had trained his poltergeist, after all, and sure enough, Youma-Gengar simply shaded itself out of it's devourer's back within moments, looking slightly worse for wear. Certainly better than his opponent, though, for the sadistic ghost maintained a slight semblance of solidity to tear painfully through organ, bone and sinew, Counter-firing every nerve with immense pain. Nevertheless, with the ball now on Pwne's side, Engi will have to choose carefully how to return, or even serve.
