Now that we know what's going on, let's check out the teams! First we have cbrevan, one of our newer trainers here in ASB! His team his fresh but he has some solid Pokemon! In particular watch out for his Monohm, Maelstrom; Monohm packs a lot of power into that little ball of fluff, and she could make the difference here today!

Deerling (*) (Bambi) (Male)

Nature: Adamant

Type: Normal STAB; adapt comfortably to any surrounding after 3 actions. Able to use Outrage without losing focus.
Grass STAB; Immunity to Leech Seed and Worry Seed. 50% reduction in status effect chance of oncoming "powder" attacks. More mobile in areas with strong natural light sources. Superior senses in tall grass and forest areas. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus.

Abilities: Chlorophyll: (Passive) During bright sunlight, this Pokemon’s cells absorb more solar energy, doubling (x2) their speed.
Sap Sipper: (Passive) This Pokemon lives on a steady diet of plants and has developed defenses to every Grass-type attack. When attacked with a Grass-type move, damage and effects are negated and the Pokemon gains a one (1) stage attack boost. A boost gained this way by an opponent's attack will be maintained at the end of each round. Self-targeted attacks do not maintain boosts.
Serene Grace (locked): (DW) (Passive) This Pokemon has a blessing which doubles the success chance of its attack’s secondary effects. (eg paralysis from Thunderbolt)

Nature:
Adamant

Type: Fighting STAB;
ignore weight restrictions of throwing/grappling moves. Superior reaction time in close quarters.
Steel STAB; Immune to Sandstorm, highly insusceptible to toxic attacks, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, can be magnetized. Superior senses in high-metal environments like construction sites or factories.

Abilities: Steadfast: (Passive) If this Pokemon is flinched, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases speed by one (1) stage to make up the difference. This speed boost is maintained at the end of each round.
Inner Focus: (Passive) When an opponent attempts to flinch this Pokemon, it stands firm and continues its attack. If it has another ability that would be activated by flinching, that ability activates.
Prankster (locked): (DW) (Passive) The Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging attacks an increase in priority level.

Electric STAB; 50% reduction in paralysis chance from other electrical attacks, perfect accuracy and 30% chance of Protect breaking Thunder during Rain. Superior senses in power plant environments.

Abilities:
Shield Dust:
(Passive) This Pokemon has dust covering the outside of its body that prevents opponents secondary effects from taking place (eg burn from Flamethrower). It does not block direct status moves (such as Thunder Wave.)
Static: (Passive) This Pokemon’s body is surrounded by an electric field that has a 30% chance of paralyzing opponents that use contact moves on this Pokemon.
Overcoat (locked): (DW) (Passive) This Pokemon has a sturdy exterior that rebuffs the elements, making it immune to damage inflicted by bad weather. And on the other side, we have LouisCyphre! Lou has been around a lot longer than cbrevan, and certainly has the experience advantage! He did bring some of his lesser-trained Pokemon, but that by no means means they're weak! Definitely watch for Ira the Necturine; despite being completely fresh, a Necturine is always a threat on the battlefield, especially with her Sketch slot not yet used and ready to copy whatever she needs. Will Lou resort to a timely Sketch to gain an advantage in the match?

DFEel.png

Necturine ♀ - Ira
Nature: Rash (SpA: +1, SpD: -1)

Ghost Type - Ghost STAB; brief intangibility that nullifies Normal and Fighting-type attacks. Can move through walls for a brief period of time but must remain in motion. Superior senses in low light and inside dark buildings. Have no vision reduction in hazes.

Abilities:
Anticipation - (Innate) This Pokemon is better at sensing dangerous attacks, and reduced the Base Attack Power from super-effective attacks, Selfdestruct, and Explosion by two (2).
(DW) Telepathy - (Dormant) - (Innate) This Pokemon has a mental link with its allies in multiple allies, allowing it to avoid taking damage from attacks that affect the whole field like Earthquake and Surf.

Lightningrod - (Innate) These Pokemon naturally attract electricity to themselves and away from partners in double battles. When struck with an Electric attack, they transfer the energy into their body, using it to increase their Special Attack by one (1) stage. A boost gained this way by an opponent's attack will be maintained at the end of each round. Self-targeted attacks do not maintain boosts. Now with the teams introduced, let's explain how this will work. Since cbrevan made the original challenge, he'll send out his first Pokemon. After that, Lou will send out a Pokemon of his own and give his orders. Then cbrevan will order, and then I'll update everyone on how things are going. The cbrevan will order, Lou will order, and I'll give another update. So on and so forth things will go, with the order of who orders when switching each round. Of course, a switch phase will throw a wrench into things, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it! Now then, let's not waste any more time and get started!

1)cbrevan sends out Pokemon
2) LouisCyphre sends out Pokemon and orders
3) cbrevan orders
4) I ref
5) cbrevan orders
6) LouisCyphre orders
7) I ref
8) 5-7 repeat with the order of 5 and 6 switching each round
cbrevan, you're up!

Alright! I haven't had a nice, casual battle in a long time. Let's see if we can't make this interesting...

231.gif

Girimehkala, start us strong!

Girimehkala - Earthquake | Stealth Rock | Earthquake
If Matsu is ordered to use Copycat action 3, Double Team (4) action 2. Do not push down.
If Mastu is ordered to use Counter action 1 or 3, Substitute (15) the first time and Sandstorm the second time.

Ah, while I was getting ready to ref the round I noticed a bit of a serious issue; Riolu can't take Drain Punch as a Gen 5 TM because it's only a Gen 4 TM, which means you'll have to replace it and reorder. While you're at it, Riolu should be pure Fighting, not Fighting/Steel, and Monohm should have Overcoat as a DW ability, not Sheer Force (that one I already fixed in the OP, but you'll have to fix it on your profile), and your abilities should have the new ability categories (Passive/Toggle/Trigger/Trait) instead of the old ones (Innate/Can be Activated/Can be Enabled or Disabled/Trait respectively in most cases). This last one goes for you too Lou!

And here we go! cbrevan decides to start with Matsu the Riolu while Lou counters with Girimehkala the Phanphy! Matsu starts off the match, running right up to the Phanphy and smacking it with a Force Palm! That stung, and it looks like Girimehkala was paralyzed by the blow as well! However, Girimehkala is a fighter, and here comes a counter-attack, a vicious Earthquake! That hurts!

Now it seems like Matsu is setting up for the long haul, temporarily abandoning the offensive in favour of using a Swords Dance! Those Fighting moves are going to sting even more now! Girimehkala is taking a similar approach, taking the time to set up some Stealth Rock on cbrevan's side of the field! Those won't do much now, but Maelstrom and Bambi won't enjoy them when they come into the match later!

And now Matsu is going back on the attack, slamming Girimehkala with a Sky Uppercut! There's a powerful move for you, and that Swords Dance attack boost makes it hurt even more! However, Girimehkala is still fighting off that paralysis, and strikes back with another Earthquake! We're at the end of the round now, and the match is still pretty close! Anyone could pull this one out!

And here we go with Round 2! Matsu is kicking us off, picking up right where he left off with a Sky Uppercut! That stings! But Girimehkala is a tough cookie; here he comes right back with an Earthquake! And oh my! That one was a critical hit! Matsu definitely felt that one a lot more than he wanted to!

Matsu's a fighter though, and here he comes right back with another Force Palm! Right in the face! Girimehkala is stumbling, but he's still on his feet and fighting off the effects of that earlier paralysis! And here comes the attack; another Earthquake! Those Earthquakes are effective but I don't think Girimehkala can keep using them repeatedly like this without exhausting himself!

The offense here is relentless as Matsu goes right back with another Sky Uppercut! Now Girimehkala can barely stay on his feet! But he's still up and fighting, and wow! What an Endeavor to just about even things up! Now both Pokemon are on their last legs; who will pull out this all-important first fight of the match?

Having set the field for the next matchup, Lou has chosen his next Pokemon. A red flash, and there it is, Ira the Necturine! However, Matsu is still standing and looking to inflict as much damage as possible before going down, and it looks like he's preparing something big! Ira doesn't seem too concerned though, and is going for the Torment! Interesting move choice, but it seems to be working! Matsu just failed to use Blaze Kick + Blaze Kick because of the Torment! Handy move by Ira to save herself a lot of grief!

Now Matsu needs to do something else to hit Ira before going down! But what's this? It seems like cbrevan didn't anticipate his combo failing because he didn't give Matsu an order for action 2! Without any other option, it looks like Matsu is going to have to Struggle! Not a good position for the Riolu to be in, but Ira is going to take full advantage! And there it is, Ominous Wind! Matsu is stumbling, but he's going to try for one last attack... But no! Before he can act Ira follows up with the Shadow Sneak and knocks him out! Now the match is evened up; who will pull ahead next?

A note for next time, when you order a combo on the following action you can say cooldown (move) so that if your combo somehow fails to execute to have a fallback plan. It's technically not required, but if you don't do it and you don't get your combo off you end up Struggling. Anyway, reverse of last round; cbrevan sends out, Lou orders, cbrevan orders, I ref.

First, if Maelstrom uses Rain Dance, Substitute (25) only once and begin alternating Bonemerang and Bone Club.
If Maelstrom uses Hydro Pump more than once in a row, Protect against the second one and begin alternating Bonemerang and Bone Club.

Thanking Matsu for a great effort, cbrevan has withdrawn his Riolu and is replacing him with Maelstrom the Monohm! Doesn't seem like Lou likes that matchup very much though, and he's switching as well! Out goes Ira and in comes his final Pokemon, Boris the Cubone! cbrevan seems to be okay with this matchup though, and after those rocks dug into Maelstrom I can see why he'd be reluctant to switch! Still though, Electric vs. Ground isn't the best matchup for cbrevan! Having an attack like that helps though! That's a Hydro Pump ladies and gents, and it hurt! Boris has some solid attacks of his own, however, and he's replying in kind with his signature move, Bonemerang! That stings too!

Oh, but it looks like some rain is rolling in! I wonder if that's because of Maelstrom's Rain Dance? Regardless, it'll be raining for a while, and as long as it is those Hydro Pumps are going to hurt even more! But this means Boris has a free action, what is he going to do with it? Looks like he's making a Substitute! Not a bad choice, but I wonder if it can take a Hydro Pump?

Looks like we're going to find out! Maelstrom is gathering more water, and with the rain for an extra boost, here it comes, Hydro Pump! And that substitute just faded immediately! Looks like it couldn't take the rain-boosted attack! However, it looks like Boris isn't going to let that attack go for free; he's replying in kind with another Bonemerang! Thanks to the Stealth Rock Boris still has a slight edge, but with it still raining for the foreseeable future, Maelstrom could do some serious damage!

If Boris is ordered to use Substitute, use Hydro Pump and push actions back.
If Boris is ordered to use Protect, use Chill and push actions back.

Small oversight, but a costly one. Boris! Abuse it!
