Pokémon Draft Tournament Signups!

My semi-secret surprise that no one cares about is revealed! I've always wanted to run a Draft tournament, so, uh, now I am.

Welcome to the Pokémon DP Draft Tournament!

Rules:
Section 1: The Draft and Team Building
  • Pokémon that are usable by participants will be picked via a draft in the IRC room #smogon. In random order, participants will take turns naming Pokémon from Smogon's OU and BL tiers. The Pokémon named are usable only by the trainer that picked them.
  • After everyone has picked a Pokémon, the draft order is shuffled again and the process is repeated until all OU and BL Pokémon are picked. From here, the remaining players (the remainder) pick a UU that they can exclusively use.
  • After the draft, players construct teams from their pool of picked Pokémon and any number of un-picked UUs. Teams can be changed as much as any player wishes to, but Pokémon cannot be traded!
  • The exact date for drafting is determined by when the slots fill up,. It looks like this will fill up way fast, so expect to meet Thursday, May 22, in IRC at 9:15 PM CDT on the day of the draft.
Section 2: Rules of Battle
  • Battles will be conducted on Shoddy Battle's Official Server. These matches will be 6 v 6 DP Standard matches. Sleep Clause, Evasion Clause, OHKO Clause, and Strict Damage Clause must be on. All Ubers are banned from battle, and Wobbuffet will not be allowed in this tournament. Sorry.
  • This tournament will be double-elimination. Lose two times and you're out.
  • With the dynamic, open nature of teams, scouting is not banned. It is still discouraged though, but it is not banned. You already know major team players anyway...
  • All other rules for tournaments apply. MEET YOUR DEADLINES and BE IN IRC ON TIME. If you're late to IRC, you'll be one of the guys who has to pick a UU.
  • I will substitute any player that signs up and does not show up for the draft. It is your responsibility to get to the draft on time. If you miss it with no prior notification and no good excuse, I'll PM your name to the Tournament mods.

No substitutes will be used, as it's highly unlikely that more than one guy won't show up. 16 is the absolute maximum since that's the biggest power of 2 number that guarantees 6 OU/BLs to everyone. Go!

edit: yeah agreeing with jabba when me mekkah dak and whoever draft we each get a position number 1 to 4, then we do round 1; 1, 2, 3, 4, round 2; 4, 3, 2, 1, round 3; 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc up to round 6.
 
the only thing i have a problem with is this

Wouldn't it be more fair to have a set draft order for the entire thing where 1st pick picks last in the 2nd round and etc? The way I understand it, if someone was unlucky enough, they could land the last pick in every round.
 
yeah i agree with jabba and gorm. it'll be much better that way as it will ensure everyone equal opportunities. those who have played fantasy sports will know.
 
Actually I will have to pull out, I didn't realise how inconvenient 8PM CDT is for me assuming I am converting time zones correctly.

Divisible by four is irrelevant. The number must be a power of 2.
 
yeah, i don't really like setting a time for the draft that can be so inconvenient to all the players. can't we just make it so a pick has to be made every 12 hours or something?
