So, I wanted to make a team to test out my new Appliance Rotom set, but little did I know that I would have so much success with it. The Rotom set turned out to be a complete success, capable of sweeping many a team, or at least taking a large chunk out of them. I usually get pretty bored with battling, but I just felt like getting into the top 50 before posting the team. So without further adieu, I present you with the team that got me into the top 50 within three hours, achieving a rating of 1586 and a record of about 40-3. Oh, and the account was called "dragonieur".

Metagross @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Trick
- Meteor Mash
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion

An awesome lead, being able to trick common suicide leads such as Azelf, Deoxys, Aerodactyl, and more. I usually Trick first turn, so even if Azelf uses Fire Blast, I will survive due to the newly received Focus Sash. I can then switch to Heatran for a boost and a free sub on the switch. Scarfing CB Scizor and such also removes much of their immediate threat. After Trick, the opponent usually switches, giving me a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Then, just Explode on whatever is in play. Metagross also usually takes Hypnosis from lead Bronzong and such.

Heatran (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 8 HP/252 Spd/248 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Substitute

Heatran is a good switch in to any Fire attacks aimed at Metagross. If said attack is coming from Heatran, I tend to switch to Salamence to dodge the predicted Earth Power. Hidden Power Electric is really useful for Vaporeon and Suicune, but I am strongly considering switching to Explosion or Hidden Power Ice. Subbing on the opponent's switch to their own Heatran allows me to usually net a free KO while taking only Sub damage. Fire Blast just hurts.

Salamence (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 80 HP/252 Atk/176 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Outrage

Salamence is a beast, literally. Dragon Claw is used for late game when the opponent is more likely to be at full health. Swampert tends to switch into Dragon Claw and set up Stealth Rock, so I usually just stay in and 3HKO. Outrage is used for late game and the other two attacks provide excellent coverage. Jolly is used in order to outspeed Jolly Lucario who might try to Ice Punch me.

Rotom-w @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 64 HP/212 Spd/232 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Charge Beam
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute

The core of the team. Instead of trying to explain everything about it, I'm just going to link to my peer edit write up, here.

Gyarados (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance

Gyarados provides a late game clean up, easily sweeping with Dragon Dance boosted offense. Life Orb ensures needed KOs. With Jolly nature, Gyarados outspeeds any Timid Scarf Heatran who might try to Explode, stopping the sweep. It also helps outspeed Shaymin-S and OHKO with Stone Edge. Stone Edge still KOs Salamence and Dragonite while doing more than Ice Fang to Zapdos. I would usually chose the more offensive STAB option, Aqua Tail, on a set such as this, but Waterfall's flinch can come in handy at certain points. Ground / Water / Rock gives Gyarados almost complete coverage. Celebi does provide somewhat of a problem, but Heatran and Heracross are more than happy to switch in. Gyarados also acts as a secondary switch in to Heatran.

Heracross (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit

Heracross gives me a check against somewhat worrisome foes such as Curse Tyranitar and last Pokemon Heatran locked into something other than Fire Blast. The rest of the certain is pretty self explanatory.

Though three choicers makes me feel uneasy (especially if someone somehow predicts it's Choice Scarf and either has a faster Taunt or a pokemon that has a choice scarf of it's own could render that idea useless. Though the odds if this happening are unlikely.)

Other wise looks great to me dude

I don't think those choicers are too much of a problem: metagross will usually trick it away, and Salamence and Heracross hit so hard that people are going to be vary wary of switching anything in anyway.

Solid team, I dont' see any 1 pokemon causing a lot of problems.

I would say to go explosion on Subtran, its not like HP electric does too much to suicune and vappy anyway.

Metagross tricks first turn anyway, so it's really only two. It also isn't like I completely suck at prediction, so it isn't that much of a problem to have two choice item users.

But thanks for the responses.

EDIT: Exactly what ^he^ said.

Yeah, it was some user who calls himself "8."

Btw it was a close match against your team.

I had to sacrifice a few pokes in order to bring in counter to keep things in check.

You might want to watch for Suicune, after a single CM surf does minimum 25% to Gyara and Mence. If it gets it too many boosts you might be in trouble.

Btw, how do you find your rank on the ladder?

I played you earlier. Had I seen this before I wouldn't have exploded with Gengar so early, and I'm saying this because you have a really large LO Gengar weak. Your only option of taking it down is Metagross and Heracross. Metagross is easily taken out with prediction so you can only rely in Heracross pursuiting it to death.

CB is a great item on Salamence however with so many choice users it's easily for your opponent to set up. For example being locked into a dragon attack can make it very easy for something like Metagross to get a free Agility and continue to sweep you. I would just run LO on Salamence, or use the bulky Roost set. This can give you some extra Lucario protection. I would run enough speed to hit 308 even if you lose out on the extra bulk 280 speed hits.

I don't think I ever played you and I certainly don't remember having any Gengar exploding on me, so once again, it was probably someone else using the team.

I'll consider the Salamence suggestion.

Switch meteor mash for bullet punch on Metagross. I often use the same set and almost never use meteor mash (when I'm actually attacking I almost always explode), while bullet punch gives you a priority move that you can use if it somehow survives into lategame without a scarf. It doesn't happen often but it's saved me more than once. Just something to consider.

I would switch gyarados for feraligatr because your team lacks an ice attack. Ice punch which feraligtr can run fixes the problem. Gatr can also DD making it a like gyarados ... with ice punch, and harder to predict the set.

Like the team. =)

Just popping in to say you have a slight DX-S weakness with Superpower / Psychic / T-Bolt / Ice Beam. It seems you're somewhat capable of handling it but I would like to ask how you do anyways. Something to try: DD Wacan Berry Gyarados with a Jolly nature. This SHOULD easily get two Dragon Dances and be able to sweep roughly the same as a +1 Life Orb Adamant Gyarados without the limit of being somewhat slower.

Otherwise this team looks great. Though 3 Choice Item users scare me a bit.

Gyarados does have Ice Fang, so that's something to consider.

Also, as you can see here: http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/gyarados , Adamant Gyarados with 252 speed EVs still outspeeds Skymin after 1 DD, so Jolly is not needed if that's the threshold you want to outspeed, but suppose you want to outspeed +speed 130s (I dunno, like a timid Jolteon or something), then you can use Jolly and still only need 168 Speed EVs, which means you can use the rest of the EVs to have more bulk for your Gyarados.

And not to be negative here, but this is why I always delete any RMT I post. I get silly comments like "You have no Ice attack, use Feraligatr!"

As I mentioned, you outspeed Timid Scarf Heatran with Jolly and max Speed. I really wish people would at least read the entire team before posting comments like that.

Requesting a lock from someone.
