So, this set has been working awesomely for me as long as it doesn't get crit or something! This can be used with any one of the Rotom forms, so I thought it would be best to post it in its own thread. I just use Appliance Rotom as the general term when referring to the forms.

OK NOW I HAVE FINISHED UPDATING EVERYTHING!

[SET]
name: Boosting Sweeper
move 1: Charge Beam
move 2: Substitute
move 3: Shadow Ball
move 4: Hidden Power Fighting / Thunderbolt
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 64 HP / 232 SpA / 212 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Although one of the lesser used options, Charge Beam allows Appliance Rotom to attack while having a large chance to boost its already high Special Attack. When combined with Substitute, Appliance Rotom is even more capable of setting up on Blissey, a Pokemon that would normally wall a special attacking Appliance Rotom set. Seismic Toss has no effect on Appliance Rotom and Flamethrower / Ice Beam do not break Appliance Rotom's Substitutes due to the slight HP investment. Substitute also allows Rotom to block any Thunder Wave or Toxic that Blissey might launch at it. Shadow Ball is Appliance Rotom's main form of attack once it has received boosts from Charge Beam, capable of 3HKOing even 252 HP / 96 SpD Sassy Bronzong after a single boost. Hidden Power Fighting allows Appliance Rotom to take on incoming Tyranitar hoping to munch down on the wily ghost. After six boosts, Appliance Rotom is capable of 2HKOing even 0 HP / 176 SpD Calm Blissey (the bulkiest Blissey that Rotom will likely encounter) with either Hidden Power Fighting or Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt is also Appliance Rotom's best form of attack against Scizor.

As previously mentioned, 64 HP EVs allow Appliance Rotom's Substitutes to withstand any attack that Blissey is likely to use, as well as allowing Rotom to form three Substitutes in sand and five in normal weather. A Timid nature and 212 EVs allows Appliance Rotom to outspeed neutral-natured Mamoswine and Lucario. Using 212 Speed EVs also allows Rotom to reach a bonus point. 236 Special Attack EVs allow Appliance Rotom to almost always 2HKO even 0 HP / 176 SpD Calm Blissey with Hidden Power Fighting or Thunderbolt after six boosts. Rotom also has a 38% chance of 2HKOing 252 HP / 252 SpD Careful Tyranitar in Sandstorm after a single boost with Hidden Power Fighting, a definite 2HKO if Tyranitar switches into Stealth Rock.

Nice set ^_^.

"When combined with Substitute, Appliance Rotom is even more capable of setting up on Blissey, a Pokemon that would normally wall a special attacking Rotom set."

"Hidden Power [Fighting]" should be "Hidden Power Fighting".

", as well as allowing Rotom to reach an extra Leftovers recovery point."

"Natured" should be "natured".

"bonus Speed point" would probably be better than "bonus point". Even though it is obvious...it makes a nicer read o_O.

"236 Special Attack EVs allows Appliance Rotom to almost always 2HKO 0 HP / 176 SpD" ("s", and remove "even").

I'll update with those when I get back. This set works extremely well, so go ahead and test it if you have any doubts about it. I'm literally sweeping half of a team every game with this Rotom. =/

Seismic Toss has no effect on Appliance Rotom and Flamethrower / Ice Beam do not break Appliance Rotom's Substitutes if Appliance Rotom invests 44 EVs into HP.
As previously mentioned, 60 HP EVs allow Appliance Rotom's Substitutes to withstand any attack that Blissey is likely to use.
Seems to be a bit of of discontinuity here...

I think Stellar means if you used 44 HP / x SpA / x Spe, it would survive all of Blissey's Attacks, therefore it survives anyway with those extra 16 EVs.

The former should probably be changed to "With this EV spread" or something.

No, I had just talked to McGraw and decided to go for the Leftovers point. I previously had it at 44 HP (which is what allows it to survive what I mentioned), but because the 16 extra SpA EVs did not net any extra KOs, they were simply placed into HP.

This sounds really cool actually. I'll let Caelum and Venom weigh in if they want to add this or not. I'm thinking Rotom-W will have this in its analysis but Rotom-F won't (as I've presented it's better in Hail). The others have the potential to use this so should be given a chance.

Ok. This log should display the awesomeness of the set. It also happens to be the battle that got me into the top 50 with my "dragoneiur" account. ~_~

Seems like a sexy set, although I'm curious as to what it actually has over CMMismagius, aside from superior defenses which aren't really utilised here.

I'm wondering that too, actually... Charge Beam only has a 63% of boosting your Special Attack while Mismagius boosts hers 100% of the time :/

Mismagius is faster, and boosts it's Special Defense while also boosting it's Special Attack. Hell, eventually it takes three or even four attacks for Blissey to break the sub, but by then they've probably given up and ran off somewhere.

Nevertheless it seems to be viable, just outclassed.

Actually, I find it quite easy to counter.

posts like this are useless without more information; also is this theorymon or did you actually play the set?

the main reasons i think this set is different are because it a) gets nice dual STAB i guess b) can boost its SpA while attacking

but i guess it's a bit outclassed, i don't know, maybe stellar can argue it. nonetheless it's definitely viable and stellar's had great success with this set.

Better resistances and sturdier subs are definitely why I used this over Mismagius. And as Misaki mentioned, the ability to attack while boosting.

Mismagius dies to most of the metagame's common threats like Scizor, while Rotom actually enjoys a Scizor locked into Bullet Punch.

Oh and yeah. Go ahead and use it.
