Welcome to the Risk team tournament! For those who are unfamiliar with the game, Risk is a strategy-based board game taking place on a map of the world. Players take turns deploying troops on their countries and roll dice to try to conquer countries from their opponents. Risk can be played online at http://www.conquerclub.com. This tournament will be based on teams of two people, with each teams facing another during a round. If you enjoy playing risk or have never played risk before and want to try it I encourage you to sign up.

Sign ups are now open. Each partner should post to confirm his or her spot on a team. If you don’t have a partner yet but want to join, please sign up saying so. People not yet on teams will be randomized when sign-ups close.

2. matty/LonelyNess- Team Big Red Ball Rubbers
3. moi/billymills- Team Conquering Canucks

9. CrabNebula/Hipmonlee- Team Cheaters

Additional Rules:
1. All smogon forum rules apply.
2. As mentioned above, games will be played at www.conquerclub.com. If you have never played or are rusty at Risk, it’s recommended that you try out a few practice games since Risk is a simple game to learn. Basic rules can be found here: http://www.conquerclub.com/public.php?mode=instructions1
2. Each round will be best two out of three matches. If both teams want to their round can be shortened to 1 match per round because of timing issues as long as this is decided in advance . Doubles games tend to last 30-40 minutes.
3. IRC is required for setting up games. The channel #risk at synirc.net can be used for this. The easiest way to set up a game is for the game creator to send the game link to your partner, then to the other team so players join in the proper order. If you have trouble getting on to start a game at the same time as your partner/opponents, you can also ask the hosts or someone you trust to be on to join the game for you.
4. Basic settings for doubles conquer club games are: random maps, 4 players, doubles, freestyle, chained reinforcement, no fog of war, and casual round length. Feel free to use different settings such as fog of war if both teams agree to it, but all matches must be doubles.
5. Some other helpful rules for doubles games are that whichever team ends the turn last must wait until the first team starts their next turn to begin moving, and that extra armies (but not whole countries) can be reinforced to your partner at the end of a turn.

Have fun and enjoy the tournament!

You can join, and if you can't find a partner you will be randomly assigned a partner from the list of those who do not have a partner.
You need IRC however, so if you do not have that I suggest you get from:
www.mirc.com
www.colloquy.com
And join us at server: irc.synirc.net
Room #risk

If you need help, you can pm Lesm46, I am sure he will be more than willing (:

The problem isn't that I don't have the required programs; I don't have a computer to use these programs on. :B My laptop's currently out for repairs and I don't have access to another computer with IRC (I'm at work right now). If I can get my laptop back before registration closes (which may happen, I got an email stating they were shipping it back last week), I'll gladly join up as a free agent, but if this fills up as fast as the mafia games do, I doubt that'll happen.

what kind of time frame will this take?

like will you start within the week and be done within a week, or is this set to start further down the line etc

i'd love to, but i'll be gone in a week and i don't want to sign up for something i can't commit to

Signups will close in 2-3 days. Rounds will probably last 2 weeks, so if you're gone for a few days it shouldn't be a problem as long as you set up a time with your opponents in advance.
