Gorebyss hasn't been too hard to do, the main big thing I've done is taken out the Choice Specs set since its not best placed on a Rain Dance team, and outside of Rain Dance, Gorebyss isn't too effective at anything other than Baton Passing because of its low Speed.

STATUS: Needs proofreading.

name: Swift Swim Sweeper

move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Hidden Power Grass
move 4: Psychic / Rain Dance
item: Life Orb
nature: Modest
evs: 36 HP / 252 SpA / 220 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Gorebyss is one of the most powerful special attackers available in UU, sporting 114 base Special Attack, exceeded only in the realm of Water-types by Omastar by a negligible 1 base point. Under rainy conditions, its low Speed, chief among its impediments, balloons to incredible levels thanks to Swift Swim. In conjunction with rain's boost to Water-type attacks, Gorebyss can easily tear through entire teams in such an environment. Surf is standard fare for a STAB attack, although Hydro Pump is a possibility for some extra power at the expense of accuracy, and with it you can OHKO 252 HP / 4 SpD Relaxed Uxie 87.18% of the time with Stealth Rock damage. However, Surf is usually preferred since missing at an inopportune moment may prove disastrous. Ice Beam complements Surf by hitting Grass- and Dragon-types super effectively.

Hidden Power Grass complements Surf and Ice Beam by hitting the Water-type Pokemon which resist those two types. Hidden Power Grass works well against Lanturn and OHKOs Omastar, Gastrodon, Kabutops, Relicanth, and especially Quagsire, since it's immune to Surf because of Water Absorb. Hidden Power Electric is generally inferior since Mantine, the only Pokemon not hit harder by another attack, is not common in the UU tier, unlike the aforementioned Pokemon. However, if using Gorebyss in OU, then Hidden Power Electric does give an OHKO on Gyarados, who will otherwise be a nuisance, and the main target of Hidden Power Grass in OU (Swampert) is hit hard by Surf.

As a Water-type with high Special Attack and Swift Swim, Gorebyss is inevitably compared to Omastar, which, as previously noted, possesses slightly higher Special Attack, in addition to its higher Defense and Speed, and Rock typing. Psychic is one of the primary advantages Gorebyss has over Omastar, OHKOing Toxicroak while dealing more damage to Poliwrath and Qwilfish than Hidden Power. However, Psychic may be replaced with Rain Dance if Gorebyss doesn't receive rain support from other members of its team. Life Orb is the chosen item as it grants some OHKOs Gorebyss otherwise wouldn't get, letting it avoid some unnecessary damage.

Modest with 220 Speed EVs is recommended as the Speed investment allows Gorebyss to outrun Jolly Swellow with Rain Dance in effect. However,it doesn't permit it to outrun many common Choice Scarf users or Electrode. Therefore, Timid nature with 232 Spe EVs is a possibility to trade some power for the ability to outspeed everything as fast as or slower than Raticate, assuming a Speed-neutral nature and Choice Scarf, including Sharpedo, Primeape, and Rotom.

This Gorebyss should only be used on a Rain Dance team, and therefore Rain Dance support is a requirement even if you have Rain Dance as the fourth option. Rotom, Claydol, and Lanturn are great partners to Gorebyss as they can all set up Rain Dance to support it and also take the Electric-type moves aimed at Gorebyss. Rotom can set up dual screens as can Claydol, who can also set up Stealth Rock. Altaria, Registeel, and Muk are good options for taking the Grass-type moves aimed at Gorebyss while also being able to set up Rain Dance. Registeel can also provide paralysis and Stealth Rock support should you want them, while Muk can absorb the Toxic Spikes that would hamper Gorebyss. Altaria has access to Heal Bell, which could prove useful should Gorebyss become paralysed or poisoned.

Chansey is perhaps the greatest threat to Gorebyss as its high Special Defense means it can take special attacks with ease while being able to Wish + Protect stall Gorebyss out of Life Orb recoil or hit it with Thunder Wave or Toxic. Therefore, having a powerful physical sweeper such as Kabutops or Qwilfish to deal with it can prove useful. Another way is to lure it by using Focus Punch on Ludicolo or using Swords Dance Ludicolo. Choice Band Dugtrio can also trap and kill it. Mantine is a great counter should Gorebyss lack Hidden Power Electric since its high Special Defense, Water Absorb ability, and access to Toxic and Rest + Sleep Talk allows it to stall Gorebyss to death. Kabutops can hit it hard with Stone Edge, so it makes a great partner to Gorebyss. Lanturn can use Thunder to take out Mantine. Opposing Ludicolo can use the SubSeed strategy to stall Gorebyss while its high Special Defense and 4x resistance to Water-type moves means it can switch in easily. Qwilfish therefore makes an effective partner as it has access to a STAB Poison Jab which will scare off Ludicolo. With a bit of prior damage, Kabutops can take Ludicolo out with Stone Edge, while having a Ludicolo yourself can work well since Grass-types are immune to Leech Seed. Registeel can take a hit and then paralyze Gorebyss with Thunder Wave, making it useless. Lanturn can take on Registeel that lack Earthquake as it is resistant to Steel while its STAB Hydro Pump can 3HKO in the rain with Stealth Rock support. Dugtrio can trap and kill Registeel, but its low Defense means it can't take a hit when switching in.

[SET]
name: Baton Passer
move 1: Baton Pass
move 2: Agility
move 3: Surf
move 4: Substitute
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 24 SpA / 232 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set takes on a complexion completely different from the sweeping natures of the previous two sets and instead diverts its attention to supporting the team. Agility is an extremely helpful move to pass to most any teammate, especially slow-but-powerful attackers like Relicanth, but also fast sweepers that enjoy peace of mind against potential Choice Scarf users. Substitute gives Gorebyss the ability to scout the opponent's team and provides cover for Baton Pass's recipient during the transition. While Gorebyss has a plethora of other things to Baton Pass, Surf is an obligatory STAB attack that deals solid damage from 114 base Special Attack, even though there is little Special Attack investment, and heavily damages common phazers in UU like Steelix, Nidoqueen, and Drapion. Additionally, Surf permits Gorebyss to do something in the event that it is the last Pokemon or is Taunted. There are other options for Gorebyss to Baton Pass; Iron Defense, Amnesia, and Aqua Ring are the best options. Iron Defense and Amnesia are good options to help out in Baton Pass chains by boosting Gorebyss's Defense and Special Defense respectively. Aqua Ring is an option should you want to pass on some free recovery, and Gorebyss is the only Pokemon in UU which can Baton Pass Aqua Ring.

Although Leftovers is the preferred item for free recovery, using a pinch berry such as Liechi or Petaya Berry is an option as after an Agility, Gorebyss is faster than pretty much anything, so it can Substitute down to activate the berry and then pass on that boost to a member of your team. With +2 Speed and +1 Attack or Special Attack, the opponent's team may crumble against powerful sweepers such as Relicanth or Rampardos. However, with all the priority being thrown around UU, Leftovers is generally preferred as at low HP, Gorebyss will be easy pickings, so all that stat-boosting may end up wasted.

As Baton Pass Gorebyss's paramount consideration isn't attacking, most of the EVs that would normally be invested in Special Attack are redistributed to HP, making it sturdier overall. A Timid nature with the EVs provided attains 217 Speed, enough to outrun Choice Scarf base 95 Speed Pokemon with Speed-neutral natures after an Agility.

Perish Song / Roar Altaria, Haze Milotic, Roar Lapras, Roar Blastoise and others cause this set problems. Bulky Water-types with Ice Beam such as Milotic or Slowbro are the best answers to Altaria. Lanturn is a great counter to the bulky Water-types that trouble Gorebyss as it can scare them off with Electric-type moves, while taking little damage from most of their attacks. Bulky Grass-types can also do well against them. Meganium and Venusaur are among the best options, while if they lack Ice Beam, Tangrowth can take them on.

Toxicroak and Parasect are both good counters to this Gorebyss as with Dry Skin, they are healed by Water-type moves, while their high Attack stats mean they can do some damage back. Dugtrio can trap and OHKO both with Earthquake and Aerial Ace respectively, but it has to be careful of Spore from Parasect, and also, its low Defense means it can't take hits easily. Dugtrio also has to watch out that it doesn't switch in on a Nasty Plot boost against Toxicroak as a +2 Vacuum Wave will OHKO. The best Pokemon to deal with Toxicroak are Weezing, Muk, and Nidoqueen due to their high defense and resistance to Fighting-type moves. Most of the time they will do well against Toxicroak; however, Nidoqueen will have to watch out for Earthquake and Ice Punch, while Muk has to watch out for Earthquake. Primeape is a good counter to Parasect as Vital Spirit means it can't be put to sleep, while it resists X-Scissor and can hit back with an Ice Punch. Primeape can also make good use of a +2 Speed boost as it will be faster than everything in UU.

Venusaur and other Grass-types can make nice partners as they have resistances to the Electric- and Grass-type moves Gorebyss hates, while with Speed boosts as well as the possibility of Attack or Special Attack boosts, they can tear through a lot of UU. Torterra can make a nice offensive partner as it will appreciate the boosted Speed, and can easily switch in on a predicted Electric-type move while its STAB Earthquake will scare off the Electric-types which Gorebyss hates.

[Team Options]

Rain Dance support is required for the Swift Swim Sweeper set to perform effectively as even if it has Rain Dance, it may not find time to set it up due to its low Speed outside of rain. Ambipom, Electrode, and Persian are good options for fast lead Pokemon to get the Rain going. Claydol, Rotom, and Lanturn are other good options to set up the rain as they can take Electric-type moves aimed at Gorebyss. Altaria, Registeel, and Muk can set up the rain while taking Grass-type moves aimed at Gorebyss. Stealth Rock is also a requirement as without it, Gorebyss may have trouble against some of the bulkier Pokemon in UU, such as Registeel. It also means your opponent can't just easily predict around you as they are taking Stealth Rock damage + attack damage from Gorebyss for each switch. Heal Bell support from Altaria can be useful to save Gorebyss from any status which could end its sweep. Spikes or Toxic Spikes support from the likes of Omastar and Qwilfish are other possible support options since they can help Gorebyss take on bulkier Pokemon such as Registeel, Milotic, and others.

For offensive support Pokemon, powerful physical sweepers are the best options. Kabutops and Qwilfish both have access to Swords Dance and are able to deal with many Pokemon who give Gorebyss trouble, such as Chansey. Floatzel is another option; although it doesn't have Swords Dance like Qwilfish and Kabutops, its high Speed means it is harder to revenge kill, and it can even do some damage outside of rain, while still being able to deal with Chansey. Swords Dance Ludicolo may seem like a poor option for a partner to Gorebyss due to its mediocre base 70 Attack, but the surprise factor is what makes it such an effective partner. It lures in Chansey while hitting back with a powerful STAB Waterfall and can also take out some of the bulky Water-types with a +2 Seed Bomb, allowing Gorebyss an easier time at a sweep. Using Focus Punch on a special attacking Ludicolo is another great way to lure in and take out Chansey.

Gorebyss has many great defensive partners. Claydol, Rotom, and Lanturn are among the best partners as they can all set up Rain Dance to aid Gorebyss while taking, with ease, the Electric-type moves it hates. Altaria, Registeel, and Muk are effective partners to take Grass-type moves aimed at Gorebyss while setting up Rain Dance to help it.

[Other Options]

Amnesia and Barrier are on offer and can be included on the Baton Pass set, but generally, they should only be used in a dedicated Baton Pass team. Confuse Ray may land Gorebyss some free damage and one or two extra turns. Shadow Ball can be used to hit Ghost and Psychic-type Pokemon, but a STAB rain boosted Surf deals with most of them anyway. Aqua Tail is another option as with a Rash nature and 84 Attack EVs, Gorebyss will always 2HKO the standard Chansey with Surf + Aqua Tail assuming rain + Stealth Rock and Leftovers.

[EVs]

Offensive Gorebyss should maximize Special Attack before anything else and devote most of the remaining EVs to Speed. If Gorebyss is Modest, a good Speed to aim for is 195(220 Spe EVs), which lets it outrun Jolly Swellow, once Dragon Danced Adamant Altaria, and neutral natured Choice Scarf Venusaur, assuming Swift Swim is in effect. If you opt to use Timid, it can either use 232 EVs for 217 Speed to outrun many common Choice Scarf users after an Agility boost or rain or 204 EVs to outrun Pokemon with 55 base Speed or less and a Speed-neutral nature.

[Opinion]

Gorebyss's Special Attack is certainly impressive, and its movepool, while not particularly large, is sufficient to annihilate most anything it should encounter; its one limiting factor is its low Speed, which can be remedied with Rain Dance and Swift Swim or Agility. Gorebyss becomes one of the strongest attackers in UU, especially with Rain Dance support; few Pokemon that aren't resistant to Surf can weather its intense assault. Therefore, Gorebyss should always be taken into consideration while constructing a rain-based team. However, it's best to keep Gorebyss in UU as its low Speed makes it easily revenged by Choice Scarf users in OU; it has to run a Timid nature to outspeed even Choice Scarf Heatran.

Gorebyss's fellow special attacking Swift Swim Pokemon, Omastar, is slightly stronger and faster and possesses a different typing. Gorebyss's most clear-cut advantage over Omastar is its ability to use Psychic and Shadow Ball, but the lack of a secondary Rock typing also often results in a net positive. As a pure Water-type, Gorebyss isn't resistant to Normal or Flying-type attacks; however, it also isn't as vulnerable to Mach Punch, Vacuum Wave, Ground attacks, and unexpected Hidden Power Grass. Also, unlike Omastar it resists both Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet.

[Counters]

Since a rain boosted STAB Surf is extremely powerful, most of Gorebyss's common counters are resistant or immune to Water. Mantine, especially those with Water Absorb, is an excellent choice against Gorebyss without Hidden Power Electric, taking barely any damage from Ice Beam because of its astronomical 140 base Special Defense and Hazing away boosts should it encounter a Baton Pass Gorebyss; it can even obliterate a Gorebyss with Hidden Power Electric if it's using Mirror Coat. Quagsire functions identically to Mantine, except it fears Hidden Power Grass rather than Hidden Power Electric. Lanturn also functions well against Hidden Power Electric Gorebyss and easily beats it with a STAB Thunderbolt. Ludicolo can do well because it is resistant to Surf, takes only neutral damage from Gorebyss's other attacks, and has high Special Defense while it can hit back with STAB Grass-type moves or use the SubSeed strategy. Chansey is an amazing counter to the Sweeper set as its high Special Defense means it can easily take even Hydro Pumps in the rain, while it can Wish + Protect stall Gorebyss or just hit it with Toxic or Thunder Wave. Registeel also does well because it can take a hit then paralyze Gorebyss, effectively ending its sweep.

The Baton Pass set is harder to counter as if you switch in on Gorebyss on the Agility it will just Baton Pass out, having accomplished its job; however most Grass and Electric-types with decent Special Defence and a moderately strong STAB attack can deal with Gorebyss if it hasn't got an Agility. Toxicroak and Parasect are completely immune to Surf if they have Dry Skin and both are sufficiently powerful to take on Gorebyss. Whirlwind Noctowl and Roar Blastoise will take little from Surf as they remove Gorebyss's stat boosts.

really well written. definitely one of the best I've proofread for sure. most of the problems I caught involved missing or extra commas and confusion between “its” and “it's”. nice job.

Paralysis support from Registeel could also help Gorebyss as it could Substitute till the opponent gets fully paralysed, then Agility and pass away. Dugtrio can trap many Electric-types which could cause this set problems, and take them out with Earthquake. Roar Blastoise takes little damage from Surf, and can roar away stat-boosts.
Rain Dance support is required for the Swift Swim Sweeper set to perform effectively as even if it has Rain Dance, it may not find time to set it up due to its low Speed outside of rain.
Gorebyss's fellow special attacking Swift Swim Pokemon, Omastar, is slightly stronger and faster, and possesses a different typing.

Lanturn is also good functions well against Hidden Power Electric Gorebyss and easily beats it with a STAB Thunderbolt. Ludicolo can do well because it (i)s resistant to Surf, not hit super effectively by any other attack takes only neutral damage from Gorebyss's other attacks, and has high Special Defense while hitting back with STABGrass-type moves or using the SubSeed strategy. Chansey is an amazing counter to the Sweeper set as it(')s high Special Defense means it can easily take even Hydro Pumps in the rain, while it can Wish + Protect stall Gorebyss or just hit it with Toxic or Thunder Wave. Registeel also does well because it can take a hit then paralyseparalyze Gorebyss(,) effectively ending its sweep.

The Baton Pass set is easier to counter; most Grass and Electric-types with decent Special Defence and a moderately strong STAB attack will do the trick (I would actually say it's harder to counter because if you switch to Lanturn on the Agility it will just BP out, having accomplished its job). Toxicroak and Parasect are completely immune to Surf if they have Dry Skin and both are sufficiently powerful to take on Gorebyss. Whirlwind Noctowl and Roar Blastoise take little from Surf as they remove Gorebyss's stat boosts.

Just two small things; Maybe mention that Gorebyss resists Aqua Jet and Bullet Punch in that last line of Opinion, unlike Omastar. And in OO, mention Gorebyss is the only Pokemon that can Baton Pass Aqua Ring outside of Vaporeon. It's a very small thing, but exclusive to Gorebyss so it deserves a mention.

Great analysis.

Thanks whistle, I've edited in all the changes except I'm doing some damage calculations on the Surf / Hydro Pump thing so once thats done, I'll edit that in the analysis.

I've edited those into the analysis Random Pizzaman.
EDIT: I've edited in that Hydro Pump gives you a very high chance of OHKOing the standard 252 HP / 4 SpD Relaxed Uxie including Stealth Rock damage.

You might want to mention the other things Gorebyss can Baton Pass, like Iron Defense, Amnesia, and Aqua Ring in the Baton Passer set. You only touch on it in this sentence:

While Gorebyss has a plethora of other things to Baton Pass

In big BP chains, Gorebyss is a great Pokemon to pass on Iron Defense or Amnesia boosts because there's not many choices to choose from when deciding on who you want to use to pass on the certain defense boost. I suggest you explain other Baton Passable options Gorebyss has, because it does have many, not just Agility. Obviously having a defense boosting move and Substitute is a great combo to.

Swift Swim Sweeper

However, it doesn't permit it to outrun many common Choice Scarf users or Electrode.

Rotom can set up dual screens to support Gorebyss as can Claydol, who can also set up Stealth Rock. Roserade is another nice option, being able to set up Rain Dance, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes, while absorbing Toxic Spikes and taking the Electric- and Grass-type moves aimed at Gorebyss.

Lastly, Roserade can make a great partner as it's immune to Leech Seed and Toxic, while its high Special Defense means it can take an Ice Beam and hit back with a powerful STAB Sludge Bomb.

Baton Passer

With +2 Speed and +1 Attack or Special Attack, the opponent's team may crumble against powerful sweepers such as Relicanth, Rampardos, or Roserade. However, with all the priority being thrown around UU, Leftovers is generally preferred as at low HP, Gorebyss will be easy pickings, so all that stat-boosting may end up wasted.

This set has problems with Grass and Electric-types that have decent Special Defense and a moderately strong STAB attack such as Roserade and Lanturn; therefore your team needs some way of dealing with these troublesome Pokemon. Registeel can take on Roserade and most other Grass-types with relative ease, and if it has Earthquake, it can also take on Lanturn. Paralysis support from Registeel could also help Gorebyss as it could Substitute till the opponent gets fully paralyzed then Agility and pass away. Dugtrio can trap many Electric-types that could cause this set problems and take them out with Earthquake. Roar Blastoise takes little damage from Surf and can roar away stat-boosts. Therefore, Lanturn is a great counter as it can scare Blastoise off with Electric-type moves while taking little damage from most of Blatoise's attacks. Bulky Grass types can do well against Blastoise. Meganium and Roserade can do well, while if Blastoise lacks Ice Beam, Tangrowth can take it on.

Does this set really have too much trouble with Grass- and Electric- types? It can just Baton Pass out. I would imagine that Pokemon such as Perish Song / Roar Altaria, Haze Milotic, Roar Lapras, etc. would be more problematic.

Roserade can make a nice partner to take the stat-boosts as once Registeel and other troublesome Pokemon are out the way, it won't have trouble sweeping with +2 Speed and possibly +1 Special Attack. It also has resistances to the Grass and Electric-type moves commonly aimed at Gorebyss. Torterra can make a nice offensive partner as it will appreciate the boosted Speed, and it can easily switch in on a predicted Electric-type move while its STAB Earthquake will scare off the Electric-types which Gorebyss hates.

Team Options

Rain Dance support is required for the Swift Swim Sweeper set to perform effectively as even if it has Rain Dance, it may not find time to set it up due to its low Speed outside of rain. Ambipom, Electrode, and Persian are good options for fast lead Pokemon to get the Rain going. Claydol, Rotom, and Lanturn are other good options to set up the rain as they can take Electric-type moves aimed at Gorebyss. Altaria, Registeel, and Muk can set up the Rain while taking Grass-type moves aimed at Gorebyss. Roserade is one of the few Pokemon who can be effective at setting up the rain while taking both Grass and Electric-type moves aimed at Gorebyss. Spikes or Toxic Spikes support from the likes of Roserade, Omastar, and Qwilfish are other possible support options since they can help Gorebyss take on bulkier Pokemon such as Registeel, Milotic, and others.

Roserade is a great one as it can take both Electric and Grass-type moves aimed at Gorebyss. It can also absorb the Toxic Spikes which hurt Gorebyss, and due to Natural Cure, it can shrug off other status, which Gorebyss hates. Claydol, Rotom, and Lanturn are other good partners as they can all set up Rain Dance to aid Gorebyss while taking, with ease, the Electric-type moves it hates. Altaria, Registeel, and Muk are effective partners to take Grass-type moves aimed at Gorebyss while setting up Rain Dance to help it.

Other Options

Amnesia and Barrier are on offer and can be included on the Baton Pass set, but generally, they should only be used in a dedicated Baton Pass team. Confuse Ray may land Gorebyss some free damage and one or two extra turns. Shadow Ball can be used to hit Ghost and Psychic-type Pokemon, but a STAB rain boosted Surf deals with most of them anyway.

EVs

Opinion

Gorebyss's Special Attack is certainly impressive, and its movepool, while not particularly large, is sufficient to annihilate most anything it should encounter; its one limiting factor is its low Speed, which can be remedied with Rain Dance and Swift Swim or Agility. Gorebyss becomes one of the strongest attackers in UU, especially with rain support; few Pokemon that aren't resistant to Surf can weather its intense assault.

Gorebyss's most clear-cut advantage over Omastar is its ability to usePsychic and Shadow Ball, but the lack of a secondary Rock typing also often results in a net positive.

Counters

----

I recommend a mention of Aqua Tail in other options. With 84 Attack EVs and a neutral nature (Rash), Gorebyss will always 2HKO the standard Chansey with Surf + Aqua Tail assuming rain + Stealth Rock and Leftovers.

Surf on 0 / 252 Calm Chansey: 359 Atk vs 339 Def & 641 HP (95 Base Power): 211 - 249 (32.92% - 38.85%)

Aqua Tail on 0 / 252 Calm Chansey: 225 Atk vs 109 Def & 641 HP (90 Base Power): 390 - 459 (60.84% - 71.61%)

Also, just a note, you seem to be neglecting the Oxford comma. In a list of three things or more, each item in the list must be followed by a comma. ie; "Claydol, Rotom, and Lanturn are..." is correct, but "Claydol, Rotom and Lanturn are..." is incorrect.
