Yanmega (Sub Petaya)

Don't underestimate this set. I've used this set on the same team as a Dragonite, Infernape, Azelf, and Jolteon and is almost always the best sweeper/attacker there is. This set is obviously for OU, just to make sure you know. Just read and pay attention:

Why this set deserves to be on-site:
-With speed boost, almost never gets outsped
-Has major sweeping potential (tested, I am not lying this really does well)
-Unresisted moves (with HP Fighting)
-Reaches 546 sp.a after petaya berry is used
-Uses stealth rock to it's advantage
-Has a 30% flinch move which can be a nuisance to the opponent and raise speed during flinch
-OHKO's defensive calm mind Latias w/ bug buzz
-With sub up, makes it VERY hard to kill without being killed

-No additional comments-

Teammates and Counters:
-Works well with entry hazards and the two screens, so Uxie does well. Also enjoys explosion for annoyances like Blissey, so Azelf is also a friend.
-Priority doesn't OHKO, but after the Petaya is activated it will. Scizor is a pain. Always walled by Blissey and there's no changing that. Weather is a real limiting factor so avoid Hippowdon, Tyranitar, and Abomasnow (although Tyranitar must beware, outsped with one speedboost and is OHKO'd by HP: Fighting).

Please think about how this would affect metagame, because this can be a pain to almost any team.

The only sub-berry sets that are viable in OU are ones that are carried by Pokemon who:

- Resist Priority
- Resist Sandstorm
- Have enough power to OHKO a LOT of stuff after the boost.

This pretty much limits it to Empoleon, and that's the way it should stay. I'm against this set for the same reason I'm against the inclusion of Reversal sets on OU analyses- they just don't work.

The set could work but you should use this instead.

Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 244 Spe / 12 HP
Nature: Modest
- Substitute
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power Ground / Hidden Power Fighting

Same set, the difference being that the 12 HP EVs allow you to sub down 3 times when SR is not on the field, and once when it is.

the set is interesting but as SDS stated, a huge SR weakness and issues with priority, (eg Scizor) its just not viable in OU. It would need a huge amount of support, such as magnetzone to trap scizor, something to deal with Lucario and a spinner to get rid of SR. Furthermore Yanmege is not particually bulky enough to take a hit and be able to set up a Sub as well.
It just cannot work well enough in OU

Rotom-A???

imo one of the bigger threats to any speed boost Yanmega set in OU, there's just nothing to hit it for good damage.

I disapprove this set.

The reasons why this set can't be approved are simple, and most of them have been stated already. Furthermore, Yanmega is a pretty frail Pokemon which has a major weakness to Stealth Rock as well, and just to complement this bad set of characteristics we can also add that Yanmega dislikes SS and priority moves. Therefore, I really doubt that even with considerable support from its teammates Yanmega could set a situation of danger and "stability" at the same time -- unlike Yanmega, Empoleon for example gathers the opposite of the aforementioned details, which is what makes that Pokemon a reliable SubBerry user.

Not to mention that Zapdos also resists these combos, though I guess Rotom-A might be more suitable due to lack of SR weakness. I dunno, can't say I'm really convinced myself but I'm not QC either.

This is a no from me too, for all the reasons listed above.
