Underrated Pokemon Team (UU RMT)

Is this team good?

I made another team for you guys to rate, it was pretty different when I made it, but the fact that i got like twice as many posts on this compared to my other team, I figured I'd take all the suggestions and see what I ended up with (hopefully something good.) Changes in RED
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I figured I'd go with the same leads on all my teams, so people wouldn't know which team I am using (I thought it was clever...) but Donphan (my lead on my other team) didn't have good synergy with the rest of the team, and so it was replaced with Mesprit
481.png

Mesprit @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Nature: Timid
-Thunder Wave
-Stealth Rock
-Grass Knot
-U-Turn

This set was suggested by Shrang over my Donphan lead. I figured I'd use it over moving Pinsir to my lead because I've lost more to Mesprit leads than Pinsir. It can kill Omastar, Kabutops, Donphan leads, etc. before they get too many layers of spikes up, along while getting SR up itself. It can come back later and cause status with Thunder Wave, along with scout the other team with U-Turn.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was thinking of some NU pokemon I've seen around in the ladder, and one of them sparked my interest, and with Mold Breaker and with a nice base attack of 125 and a decent 85 Base Speed, I couldn't help but try this guy out.
127.png

Pinsir (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- X-Scissor
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

This guy, so underrated as a physical sweeper. With Mold Breaker, I can ignore most of those bullcrap abilities that people think they can easily switch into. THEY'RE WRONG! After a swords dance, I get a 698 attack stat, and with that massiveness, I decided to give him leftovers so he can stay in the game longer than if he had a Life Orb, which would just be overkill anyway. Jolly is to boost his speed because Swords Dance can boost his attack. I actually got to keep this pokemon, so I'm happy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

So I was looking for a good fire type, cause they're pretty cool. I didn't like the SR weakness on Moltres and Charizard cause wasting a slot for a rapid spinner didn't seem too smart. So I went around reading some smogon UU discussions on the forums and saw this guy mentioned.
467.png

Magmortar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Water]
- Focus Blast

Pretty awesome right? Flamethrower for a STAB, Thunderbolt for those water types (hah, Milotic...) and then HP Water for ground types and then Focus Blast for those god damn Clefables that I hate so much. I went with Modest over Timid because he doesn't have any special attack boosting moves, which is also why I went with the Life Orb. This set is very unpredictable, so if you read this, don't battle me cause then I won't be able to laugh at you when you get owned (I'll probably win anyway ;P .) I'm glad I got to keep him too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I needed another physical sweeper (cause I like to keep physical and special sweepers 3 each on teams) so I went with Zangoose. He got replaced by another pokemon I was waiting to use but couldn't find a slot for. He is one hell of a beast, and his name is Aggron (suggested by Shrang)
306.png

Aggron @ Life Orb
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Rock Polish
-Low Kick
-Head Smash
-Aqua Tail

This guy has massive defence, and a great attack stat, so I figured who else to kick some ass than a giant metal lizard thing? Adamant for more damage, which is pretty obvious and the same goes for the EVs. Rock Polish for the speed boostm and I went with Low Kick over Magnet Rise due to personal preferance and because I hate Registeel, Head Smash for massive STAB and Aqua Tail for coverage. I'm kinda glad I'm replacing Zangoose with him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I need a special sweeper, but one who can also support. I figured I'd go with a wish-passer for Magmortar and anyone who could use it, but like I said, I need some damage too. I never did like having two straight-up special sweepers (such as my SubSeed Sceptile on my other team). So I went with the little sister of one of the coolest pokemon IMO. I was told it was outclassed by Espy due to the fact it was faster, so Espeon became my second special sweeper (suggested by Exacus.)
196.png

Espeon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Wish
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
Espeon was on my first ever UU team back when I started in Shoddy, but we gradually drifted away. But now shes back, and better than ever. She can easily sweep after a few Calm Minds, and it can easily support with Wish. Psychic for STAB and Signal Beam for Dark Types. I figured it was more appreciated than Gardevoir, but it's still pretty overlooked.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

And lastly, my favorite pokemon. This is the same set as my other team, so I figured its deserves the same explanation.
9.png

Blastoise (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 100 HP/100 Def/252 SAtk/56 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Haze
- Rapid Spin (suggested by all you Milotic lovers...)

Yeah, all you people are thinking that my nature and my EVs and my moves and my item are all fucked up. Well keep reading and don't be so closed-minded. I went with Lum Berry cause everyone wants to status this tank, cause he kicks ass. I went with the Modest to dish out some damage, cause he kicks ass. I went with the EV spread to maximize damage and keep some bulk, cause he kicks ass. The moves are to get the job done, Haze to stop pokemon who think they can set up in my face (such as you Belly Drum Linoone) and to MAKE HIM BETTER THAN MILOTIC, I went with RAPID SPIN. I can ice beam those Venusaurs who think they got something on me, and Surf for STAB.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

In conclusion, to sum all the changes up...

MESPRIT replaced DONPHAN as a lead.

AGGRON replaced ZANGOOSE as a physical sweeper

ESPEON replaced GARDEVOIR as a special sweeper/supporter

BLASTOISE got RAPID SPIN because I prefer him over Donphan as a spinner, and because I hate Milotic and the turtle has been my favorite pokemon for 10 years.

I like this team, a lot, I just have one suggestion: replace calm mind gardevoir with calm mind espeon. The speed increase would make a more it a more viable sweeper or wish passer, depending on the situation.

I use Gardevoir over Espy because Thunderbolt. It lets me put a big dent in Milotics that run amuk in UU, there are so many its just crazy. I have considered using Espy but I always find it more useful as a sweeper than a supporter. I normally do try to carry fast pokemon on my team but I didn't try too hard to get really fast pokemon on this team, but I will test Espy over Gardevoir sometimes and see how it goes. I do appreciate your suggestion though.

Underrated Pokemon team and you have no Kanga. What is this.

Anyway
Zangoose wants a LO and Blastoise wants to be a milotic.

I would recommend HP ICE over HP WATER on Magmortar for it hits ground, as your mentioned, and lets you hit Dragon types (Altaria) for super-effective damage.

And/or Pinsir could enjoy a scarf to outspeed treats due to his mediocre 85 speed

First off, Kanga is used more than Zangoose, so i gave him a chance. Blastoise is better than Milotic IMO and Milotic is overrated.

I don't like choice items (just personal preferance) and 85 base speed is decent enough for UU. HP Water because i wanted to hit pokemon like Shuckle, Regirock, and Aggron for SE damage more than just hitting Altaria, which isn't that good anyway. If it tries to DD i can haze it with Blastoise and then Ice Beam, so Bolt with be fine for nuetral damage.

Maybe if you were utilizing Rapid Spin your Blastoise would have been better placed than Milotic, but right now it's 100% outclassed by it. Lum Berry doesn't matter when Milotic and Registeel will just Toxic you again and stall you out. Milotic has higher Special Attack and Speed, while having better SpD but having a slightly lower Defense which is somewhat remedied by its higher HP. Just use the LOMilotic set. It's 100% better than your current Blastoise.

Okay, got your PM and shall give you a rate. It's not a bad team, and props for using some more underused Pokemon (ESPECIALLY SD PINSIR). However, for such an offensive team, I see lack of synergy. I mean, something as simple as LO Moltres would just tear this team apart due to lack of speed and resistances.

Firstly, Donphan is not a good lead these days. Too many leads beat it. I know you have Focus Sash on it, but it isn't going to do you much good. I'd suggest Mesprit as your lead:

Mesprit @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe (Could have better EVs)
Nature: Timid
-Thunder Wave
-Stealth Rock
-Grass Knot
-U-Turn

Kills Omastar and friends before they get too many layers up. Gets SR up quite reliably as well.

I agree with Exacus to replace Gardevoir with Espeon, since she can actually sweep with some Speed, so use the same set and replacing Thunderbolt for Signal Beam (With a Timid nature).

Also, since Swellow handily 6-0s you at the moment (Blastoise would get weakened sooner or later), I'd suggest replacing Zangoose with Aggron:

Aggron @ Life Orb/Passho Berry
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Rock Polish
-Magnet Rise
-Head Smash
-Aqua Tail

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi,

Glad to see you using underrated Pokes, but as Thund said, that Blastoise is outclassed by Milotic. You could run an all out offensive Life Orb set, or opt for a Tank set, which helps you out with your Moltres weakness.

Milotic@Life Orb
152 HP, 80 Def, 252 Sp Atk, 56 Spe
Modest
- Surf/Hydro Pump
- HP Grass
- Ice Beam
- Recover

I really think that you're compromising Donphan's great defensive capabilities by running him as a lead. I'd recommend moving Pinsir to the lead position, as it makes a great lead who can also utilize Stealth Rock, while using Donphan as a utility Rapid Spinner, seeing as all of your Pokes are vulnerable to pretty much every single entry hazard there is:

Donphan@Leftovers
252 Atk, 204 Def, 52 HP
Adamant
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Shard/ Roar
- Assurance

On Pinsir, I recommend running a moveset of Stealth Rock/Close Combat/X-Scissor/Quick Attack.

Gl with the team.

Seeing as you aren't running Rapid Spin on Blastoise, there is absoluety no reason to run it over Milotic:

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spe
Nature: Bold
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Recover
-Haze/Toxic/HP Grass

Miliotic's far superior defences means that it can take on an beat Moltres, Blaziken and some Aggron variants, a feat Blastoise doesn't manage. Recover means Milotic is going to be sticky around for longer. You must remember that Milotic cannot beam Venusaur. I'm only saying this, becuase you mentioned you Ice Beam Venusaurs switching in. Venusaur can easily take an unboosted Ice Beam, and the Sleep or KO you. Fortunately, you have Pinsir to revenge Venusaur.

Run HP Ice on Magmortar, as insurance against Altaria, and it offers better coverage. Even if you 'hate' choice items, you have to appreciate that with LO and an SR weakness, Magmortar is going to get worn down, and wont last long, so Magmortar kinda needs Choice Specs.

Run Endeavour on Donphan over Stone Edge. That way, you can catch Omastar and Mesprit off guard.

Zangoose looks ok on paper, but if it is proving ineffective, there is always Tauros, who has the advantage of being faster.

Also kingken, you necro'd by 2 month old RMT, but hey. Good Luck, and enjoy UU.
