Introduction:

This is the thread where we will be revising Colossoil's movepool. All aspects of Colossoil's movepool, including TM moves, Move Tutor moves, Level-Up moves, and Egg Moves will be revised according to the limits listed below and the requirements listed in this process guide article. All process details for the revisions can be found in this thread.

Base Stat Rating & Movepool Limits:

This is where the BSR Overall Rating and Movepool Limit are decided. In accordance with this process guide article, all CAPs must have a Overall BSR limit that is balanced by the maximum of that CAP's Very Good Move (VGM) limit. The calculator for the Overall BSR of a Pokemon can be found here.

Justification:

Colossoil's movepool is, to be blunt, bloated. It's got a ton of unnecessary moves that don't particularly help it with its concept or flavor purposes. For that reason, I removed a lot of moves.

The two biggest changes I've made to this movepool is the removal of Fire Blast and Selfdestruct. Fire Blast is basically there for Colossoil to hit Skarmory and I guess Forretress for good damage, but outside of that, it's pathetic and worthless. Colossoil doesn't have the mixed attacking prowess; it can't pull off a mixed set. I just decided that it's better to remove it. However, I put Fire Fang in the place of Fire Blast in case someone wants a Fire attack. Selfdestruct is pretty much broken, for lack of better words. Colossoil easily traps Ghosts, spam a few more very powerful attacks, and then explode to bring something down guaranteed. It's way too good of a move on Colossoil, so it's gone.

I also removed moves such as Moonlight, Psych Up, Future Sight, Heal Bell, Shock Wave, and other moves that are bad/aren't used at all. Also, I have room for five more non-VGMs, so if you have a non-VGM that you'd like to see on this movepool, let me know.

If you can put more non-VGM flavor moves on it, could I suggest TM88 Pluck? I mean, it can use Peck and Drill peck and pecking is much like plucking, so Pluck seems sensible, right?

Ooookay, another movepool. Let's hop to it. By my count, your movepool is actually not at 68/34, but has more. You forgot to count moves like Surf as VGMs when you added them.
Moves: 69
VGMs: 37
Okay, and I have some suggestions:

  • Add Rock Smash to the TM list (It's a T-M move)
  • Add Natural Gift to the TM list (It's on every Pokemon as shown here)
  • Add Mimic and Snore to the Move Tutor list
  • Remove Surf and Muddy Water
  • Remove Whirlpool and Brine
  • Remove Drill Peck (No non-bird in the game gets it)
  • Keep Sucker Punch where it is, but repeat it in the Move Tutor list
  • Move Mud-Slap to the Move Tutor list
The level-up movepool looks really crazy too, so I suggest something like the following:
Code:
– Horn Attack
– Leer
– Peck
6. Slam
11. Bite
17. Rapid Spin
22. Body Slam
29. Pursuit
35. Magnitude
42. Stockpile
42. Swallow
42. Spit Up
48. Crunch
55. Megahorn
65. Horn Drill
This way we get Horn Attack and Horn Drill back, which are perhaps the most important flavor moves for the entire Pokemon. I kept Peck because it can be done with a horn, as the move description says in-game. (ie. Goldeen) This should all bring you to 70/35 if I did the math right in my head, and probably finish the movepool. I have attached the current movepool spreadsheet as you have the movepool listed in the first post.

Good job so far, Mr. TL! :)

I would say keep the water moves, like Surf, or at least Muddy Water, for flavor, since Collosoil is a Whale after all, so it makes a lot of sense. Dump something completely useless like Focus Blast.

By having Focus Punch, Colossoil must have Focus Blast and Brick Break. Similarly, by having Muddy Water, he has to have Surf. My suggestions retained Dive and Aqua Tail, the two most clearly suitable Water-type moves for Colossoil, while shaving off the others so the movepool would have room for required moves or moves that make more sense than Water-type moves.

Looked over your most recent edits.

Right now you have 68 Moves and 33 VGM.

Sp move Encore to Egg and then toss Body Slam and Double-Edge into Tutors and you should be done, unless you want to use up your last 2 VGM slots for Thunder/Ice Fang, Ice Shard, Zen Headbutt, or restoring Moonlight.

I didn't even know Collosoil had a tail. Nor did I know Focus Blast was required with Focus Punch, so that's fine. It doesn't much matter in the long run.

Okay, checked over the first post. It aligns perfectly with my attached spreadsheet and appears to be all completed and meeting all requirements. Good job, Fuzznip!
