A 'New Members' Forum

Hello everyone, my name is Foblect, the newest Smogon member as of 8 PM August 5, 2010. THis is all in GMT +8 time.

After looking over the site for a good 15 minutes, I have noticed that there is no place on this website created specifically for newcomers. I would suggest creating some kind of 'New Members' forum.

By 'New Members,' I don't mean a simple FAQ forum about how Smogon's rules or the basics of competitive battling, but a place where people would be able to be introduced to the communities, as well as meet other newbies.

Well, that's it for now. I hope all you readers out there enjoyed my first post ever.

Firstly, welcome to Smogon!

secondly, this has been brought up and rejected more times than I have fingers. A good recent example can be found here. In the words of Aeolus,

Generally we prefer users to just lurk and observe until they are comfortable and then to just jump right in. Intro forums don't really accomplish anything.

This is completely true. The best way to get introduced to the community, however, is probably on synIRC. Read more about it here

This has been suggested multiple times beforehand and was once part of the website.

It was taken out, simply because newbie forums tend to be pretty useless, just acting as a way of increasing a user's postcount.
