The Lead:
145.png
@ Damp Rock
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP (?)
Nature: Timid
Moveset:
~ Rain Dance
~ Thunder
~ U-Turn
~ Roost

Description:
Well obviously, for a Rain Dance team, i need a good lead that can set up Rain Dance and still be useful after using it, and that lead was Zapdos.
Thunder is the main attack in this moveset, and hits many Pokemon hard in Rain, Roost works as a good and fast recovery move, U-Turn is for scouting the opponent's team or for running away from the opponents Pokemon while still dealing some damage. This set can easily take down Ninjask leads, but has trouble with some other leads, like Aerodactyl, as their Rock Slide usually 2HKO my Zapdos, and Stone Edge is always an OHKO.

Rain Dance Support:
212.png
@ Damp Rock
EVs: 200 HP / 252 SpD / 56 Atk
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
Moveset:
~ Rain Dance
~ Bullet Punch
~ U-Turn
~ Roost

Description:
Can't believe how bulky this guy is, he took a Flamethrower from a Nidoking and it only did 38% damage in rain, Rain Dance is to keep the rain pouring, Bullet Punch is a great priority move that takes down many threats, (Abomasnow, Tyranitar) U-Turn is for switching to Kabutops, Kingdra or Ludicolo while still dealing a great amount of damage. Roost works as a very reliable recovery moves as it helped me make Scizor live for much longer in battle.

Haxxy bitch [except that it's not the haxxy bitch that you are familiar with, this is a moveset i created.]:
385.png
@ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpA
Nature: Bold
Moveset:
~ Thunder
~ Water Pulse
~ Stealth Rock
~ Psychic

Description:
Thunder is the star of this moveset, saved me so many times before, it deals huge damage in rain and can paralyze many threats, Water Pulse is also a strong move in rain, and can confuse the opposing Pokemon, this move also saved me many times and won me battles before, Stealth Rock is there because i lacked a Stealth Rocker in my team and i couldn't think of someone else to give it to. (There was Bronzong, but replaced that with Scizor), Psychic can take care of annoying Roserades who want to take my Kabutops down.

Party hard.
272.png
@ Life Orb
EVs: 60 HP / 196 Spe / 252 SpA
Nature: Modest
Ability: Swift Swim
Moveset:
~ Rain Dance
~ Energy Ball
~ Ice Beam
~ Surf

Description:
What is a Rain Dance without Ludicolo ? Rain Dance is there to set up Rain for another 5 turns, Energy Ball is STAB to take down opposing Kabutops that usually cripple my team, Ice Beam works wonders with Dragons, and especially annoying Flygon and Dragonite, it can also do a great amount of damage to Gliscor, even though Surf would already hit it hard, it also takes down Grass type Pokemon, and usually succeeds in taking down annoying Breloom.

Mixed Dancer
230.png
@ Life orb
EVs: 184 SpA / 252 Atk / 76 Spe (?)
Nature: Naive
Ability: Swift Swim
Moveset:
~ Waterfall
~ Outrage
~ Dragon Dance
~ Draco Meteor

Description:
You might wonder, why 2 Dragon moves in one moveset ? Well, Draco Meteor works as a bait, yes, a bait, whenever i use it, the opponent switches out to a Special Wall (It also counters Dragonite, but i already have counters for Dragonite on my team though.), and then i just set up Dragon Dance on they're face and sweep them away with Outrage. Waterfall does HUGE amount of damage in Rain, Dragon Dance is a wonderful move that boosts both Atk and Spe, meaning even if the Rain ends, i can still proceed to sweep with Outrage after a single DD and outspeed most threats that cripple Kingdra. This EV spread can outspeed Adamant Choice Scarf Flygon in rain which is very annoying, and can outspeed it after Dragon Dance.

Megatron
141.png
@ Life Orb
EVs: 72 HP / 196 Spe / 252 Atk
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Swift Swim
Moveset:
~ Waterfall
~ Stone Edge
~ Swords Dance
~ Aqua Jet

Description:
Simply the Megatron of the rain. Outspeeding almost all Pokemon while in rain and dealing huge amount of damage with Waterfall and deal even MORE damage after Swords Dance, Aqua Jet takes care of stupid Scizor and Metagross with Bullet Punch, Stone Edge saved me many times before, as it has a high critical hit ratio and a heavy STAB hit, Waterfall is the main attack of this set, with a base power of 80, STAB and +50% boost from Rain, it can almost OHKO Metagross (leaves it with 18-25%, Aqua Jet takes care of the rest) and can OHKO it after Swords Dance.

Hello !

Your team is almost the same as mine, with some differences of course. You can check it on this topic : http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2896600#post2896600 and help me if you have time ^^

Well, come back to your team. I'm not that fan of Zapdos lead, I personally use Jirachi :

Jirachi @Damp Rock
Serene Grace
Bold Nature
EVs: 252 HP/80 Def/176 SpD
- Rain Dance
- Thunder
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock

He is very bulky, is only 2HKO by Azelf's Fire Blast without the rain. Also, he sets up Stealth Rock, which are a very good option for a Rain Dance team. Make some hax with Thunder and gain a free switch with U-turn.

But keep Zapdos, use him as a supporter :

Zapdos @ Damp Rock
Bold Nature
Pressure
EVs 252 Hp, 220 Def, 36 Speed
Rain Dance
Thunder
Roost
HP Grass

This guy is very bulky with this spread, can set up the rain, roost, sweep with Thunder and say hello to Swampert or Dugtrio with HP Grass. Try it, you will not regret.

And now Ludicolo. The special sweeper is of course a beast, but did you think of the Swords Dancer ? I played myself a Special Ludicolo : Blissey always owned me, and Kabutops was very frail to come in. Now, thanks to Nocturne.lullaby, I play a Swords Dance Ludicolo :

Ludicolo @Life Orb
Swift Swim

Adamant Nature
EVs : 60 HP / 252 Att / 196 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Seed Bomb

But since Ludicolo is physical now, Kabutops becomes quite redundant. So I suggest you another special sweeper, but... I don't know myself who choose, since I have the same problem in my team !

Hope I helped you.

Hmm, never thought of leading with Jirachi, good idea !

I'm gonna test it out and see.

But unfortunately Kabutops is the best sweeper in this team, it's gonna be hard to replace it, gonna try though.

Thanks for the rate !

I'm not an official rater, but physical ludicolo especially on a rain dance team is the worst idea i've heard in a long time....

It could seems useless, but it can be very effective. Think about it : you set up the rain, and switch on a Pokemon who can't anything against Ludicolo. The opponent will probably switch to a special wall, so you SD. Then, your opponent probably will not be able to hurt you, so you can run a second SD. Then, let's make rampage with +4 Waterfall, Seed Bomb or Ice Punch. See Smogon's sets for Ludicolo ; it's explained.

Well, in my opinion that is a little bit too gimmicky, if he gets, let's say, phazed away by Skarmory, he won't be effective in the rest of the game because unboosted he is just that awful.

Well. even if foe switches to Skarmory to Whirlwind me away (after using a couple Swords Dances), i'll just Waterfall the shit out of it.

I already ruined SkarmBliss with Kabutops before, they just switch out like crazy and i Waterfall them to get 2HKO on both of them.

What the hell? People talking about SD Ludicolo as being crap when they haven't played it?

It's a motherfucking beast. Think of it this way- Most see a Ludicolo and switch in a Blissey/Vaporeon (Vappy can still outstall Rain turns with Wish + Protect).

You SD.

You Waterfall/Seed Bomb. Both are OHKOs in Rain, but Vappy is dead anyways, so yeah.

SD Ludicolo, max attack and an Adamant nature, can OHKO 252/0 Skarm in Rain with a Waterfall (I'm talking the Careful variants to take Magnezone hits). If that's not badass, what is?

Yeah, don't you think if the SD set is on Smogon, that's because he is interesting and playable ? I tested this set ; this guy is really strong. Even if I prefer use the special set with Leech Seed, SD Ludicolo is a beast. So don't talk about a set if you didn't test it.

I actually tested SD Ludicolo today, it was BEAST, i managed to pull two Swords Dances at Blissey's FACE !

God how i owned with him..

Hello, got your VM ^^

Anyway this looks like a solid Rain Dance team so I cannot suggest much.

You could make your Zapdos a little bulkier so it can set up Rain multiple times while still being a decent counter to Lucario and Scizor.
I suggest the bulkier spread of 248 HP / 36 SpA / 224 Speed.

I always find Dragon Dance Kingdra on a Rain Dance team a bit redundant. It needs to take advantage of the Rain that increases its Speed and that powers up its Water STAB move. Therefor I suggest a slightly different Kingdra set:

Kingdra @ life orb/ naughty / swift swim
252 Atk / 240 SpA / 16 Spe

-Draco Meteor
-Waterfall
-Hydro Pump
- Outrage

Hope this helped and good luck with the team!

Dragon Dance is there mostly just to outspeed opposite Kingdra/Kabutops [who are really annoying, and can sweep through my whole team if it's raining] and Flygon in the rain, so i try to pull off at least one Dragon Dance and proceed to sweep with either Waterfall or Outrage. (Draco Meteor is there as another heavy Dragon move STAB and to bring out special walls, DD in they're face and rape away with Waterfall, or just rape away without DDing.)

But i'll test out the set [i actually already tested once, it got me rid of annoying Tyranitar with Hydro Pump], so far lead Jirachi is kind of weak to opposite Aerodactyl, Hippowdon [although they ALWAYS go for Stealth Rock the first turn] and Metagross with Earthquake.

Alright, i tested out Kingdra and it works wonders so far.

I'm also thinking about Starmie as a replacement for Kabutops, since i need a Special Sweeper, and i thought about this set: (Meet the ThunderBeam moveset !)

Starmie @ Life Orb
252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 Atk
Timid
Natural Cure
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder
- Ice Beam
- Rest / Pain Split

Thunder to abuse the rain, Hydro Pump is the super STAB that hurts anything, Ice Beam basically for type coverage and to feel save against Dragons if Kingdra is dead, Rest is to rest off the damage and then switch out and let Natural Cure work it's magic.

Thoughts ?

only one suggestion: this rain dance team is lacking SR, someting unheard of for a team as offensive as this. Azelf is the best replacement for your current Zapdos lead.

Seeing as how this set carries no physical moves, I'd suggest moving those 4 EVs to something more useful such as HP or Sp.D

I'll use my bump now.

As for the suggestions, i actually tested them, some of them were good but the others were just bad, non-lead support Zapdos was kinda bad, so i'm replacing it with another Rain Dancer, but i don't know which Rain Dancer i should get, been thinking about Qwilfish, so yeah.
