[Overview]

  • Great overall stats and movepool.
  • Substitute sets are dangerous.
  • Bulky sets are quite hard to take down.
  • Nasty Plot boosts its already impressive Special Attack.

[SET]
name: SubSneak
move 1: Substitute / Will-O-Wisp
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Shadow Sneak
move 4: Hidden Power Fighting / Thunderbolt
item: Life Orb
ability: Levitate
nature: Hasty / Naive
evs: 240 SpA / 240 Spe

Set Description:
  • Easily sets up Substitute on a forced switch.
  • Life Orb Shadow Ball 1-2HKOes a large portion of the metagame.
  • Hidden Power allows Misdreavus to deal with Munchlax if it switches into Substitute as well as providing perfect coverage with Shadow Ball.
  • Thunderbolt hits everything that Shadow Ball doesn't except for Magnemite and Grass/Steel-types.
  • Shadow Sneak is a great finisher and revenge killer.
Additional Comments:
  • Thunderbolt vs Hidden Power Fighting. Thunderbolt hits Dark/Flying while Hidden Power Fighting hits Steel-types that also resist electric and most importantly, Munchlax.
  • Hidden Power Ground is an option to hit Stunky.
  • Will-O-Wisp is an option over Substitute if you feel prediction is one of your strong points.
  • Nasty Plot is an option over Substitute as well.
Teammates and Counters:
  • Stunky is very hard for this Misdreavus set to take out unless it runs Will-O-Wisp and Hidden Power Ground.
  • Munchlax wins if Misdreavus doesn't carry Hidden Power Fighting or Will-O-Wisp.
  • Fighting-types or secondary Ghost-types to beat Munchlax are great teammates.
  • Misdreavus can lure in Munchlax, cripple it, and allow you to sweep with your second Ghost.
[SET]
name: Nasty Plot
move 1:
Nasty Plot
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Hidden Power Fighting / Thunderbolt
move 4:
Substitute / Will-O-Wisp / Hidden Power Ground
item: Oran Berry / Life Orb
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 240 SpA / 240 Spe

Set Description:
  • Easily sets up on a forced switch.
  • Substitute eases prediction. Will-O-Wisp allows it to set up on more threats.
  • Hidden Power allows Misdreavus to deal with Munchlax if it switches into Substitute as well as providing perfect coverage with Shadow Ball.
  • Thunderbolt hits everything that Shadow Ball doesn't except for Magneton and Grass/Steel-types.
  • Nasty Plot boosts Misdreavus's already high Special Attack stat.
Additional Comments:
  • Thunderbolt vs Hidden Power Fighting. Thunderbolt hits Dark/flying while Hidden Power Fighting hits Steel-types that also resist electric, and most importantly, Munchlax.
  • Hidden Power Ground is an option to hit Stunky.
  • Will-O-Wisp is an option over Substitute if you feel prediction is one of your strong points.
  • Item choice: Life Orb hits the hardest. Oran Berry is great for surviving a couple hits while you set up.
Teammates and Counters:
  • Stunky is very hard for this Misdreavus set to take out unless it runs Will-O-Wisp.
  • Munchlax wins if Misdreavus doesn't carry Hidden Power Fighting or Will-O-Wisp.
  • Substitute Diglett beats Stunky.
  • Fighting-types or secondary Ghost-types to beat Munchlax are great teammates.
  • Misdreavus can lure in Munchlax, cripple it, and allow you to sweep with your second Ghost.
[SET]
name: Bulky Missy
move 1: Will-O-Wisp
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3:
Hidden Power Fighting
move 4: Substitute / Thunderbolt / Icy Wind
item: Oran Berry
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 236 HP / 36 Def / 236 Spe

Set Description:
  • More defensive Misdreavus set to check more threats and still hit hard.
  • Shadow Ball is it's STAB attack.
  • Hidden Power allows Misdreavus to deal with Munchlax if it switches into Substitute as well as providing perfect coverage with Shadow Ball.
  • Thunderbolt hits everything that Shadow Ball doesn't except for Magneton and Grass/Steel-types.
  • Substitute allows Misdreavus to milk Will-O-Wisp damage.
  • Icy Wind hits Gligar very hard on the switch.
Additional Comments:
  • Hidden Power Ground is an option to hit Stunky.
[Team Options]

  • Something to switch into Munchlax.
  • Something to lure and possibly KO Stunky.
  • Misdreavus can lure its counters, and since it's so powerful, severely cripple (and sometimes beat) them. This allows other Ghost-types to sweep, making an effective double-Ghost strategy.
[Other Options]
  • Choice sets don't help Misdreavus much, since Pursuit is so common, but a Choice Specs or Scarf set would work otherwise. Icy Wind makes a great final move on a Scarf set to catch Gligar off guard.
  • Hidden Power Ground is always an option to beat Stunky.
[Counters]

  • Stunky is hard for Misdreavus to beat.
  • Munchlax traps and KOes most Misdreavus.
  • Houndour, specifically Scarf variants, can switch into any attack besides Hidden Power Fighting and KO Misdreavus.

move 3: Shadow Sneak
move 4: Hidden Power Fighting / Thunderbolt

lol no wonder this set is so strong, it requires Missy to be hacked. xD

bumping this

Misdreavus (M) @ Evolution Stone Trait: Levitate
EVs: 36 HP / 40 Def / 80 SAtk / 80 SDef / 240 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Substitute / Pain Split

ive been using that set, its pretty cool for a fairly fast subber (19 speed yes please), burns important stuff like toxicroak, speed ties with gligar etc. evo stone helps it a ton too, still loses to pants lizard with shed skin.

not sure if the ev spread is "optimal" or whatever. i just put in pain split per nails post below

Pain Split over subs is also good (plays very differently obviously), it gives it more survivability. Either way, an evo stone set needs to be listed.

Edit: The spread I used moved the SpA point into defense to let evo stone give a bonus point (even number).

The Bulky Missy set says

Stunky is very hard for this Misdreavus set to take out unless it runs Will-O-Wisp.
Munchlax wins if Misdreavus doesn't carry Hidden Power Fighting or Will-O-Wisp.

But WoW has its own slot, it isn't slashed with anything.

Also, is it worth running bulk on the boosting set? 196 hp/76 spa/236 spe @ Oran seems good.

You also mention Magneton, and Tess is the only Grass/Steel type, so...

Also, Taunt really isn't that great. And HP Fighting should be on the Defensive set, since Krow is neutered once it's burned.

Icy Wind deserves a mention as well Heysup ~

Also remove mentions of Berry Juice..

In fact this pretty much just needs to be revised.

Haven't updated it yet...actually I'm QCing this currently anyway so I can just update it myself now....

Finished updating, will reorder the sets when i rewrite.
