Tyranitar
GP: ? / ?

Overview
########

-STAB rock slide is always useful
-amazing stats/movepool
-lots of weaknesses, but bulky enough to curcumvent that (also weakness policy)
-its checks align with mega kang's checks (fighting types) and it has trouble with some other common mons (sylveon, landog)
-still adaptable enough to fit onto many teams

Dragon Dance
########
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Rock Slide
move 2: Crunch
move 3: Dragon Dance
move 4: Protect
ability: Sand Stream
item: Tyranitarite / Weakness Policy / Lum Berry
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly / Adamant

Moves
========

dd for boost
-rock slide for spread STAB
-crunch for second STAB, hits steels neutrally
-protect to keep it safe from status n stuff

Set Details
========

-bulky megatar evs: 204 HP / 4 Atk / 60 Def / 4 SpD / 236 Spe (adamant)
outspeeds megaluke
If you want less speed more power:
180 Speed Adamant Outspeeds Garchomp at +1
228 Speed Adamant outspeeds Base 110s, Mega Metagross, Latios, Gengar at +1
jolly chomp/bulkier landog EQ is a 3HKO
jolly megatar can use different spreads to outspeed different threats. non-mega ttar can't make as much use out of a fast, bulky spread as megatar can, so stick with plain 252/252 spreads.

Usage Tips
========

fish for opportunities to dragon dance, then spam rock slide. crunch is more powerful on a single target though. if you have weakness policy, resist the urge to switch ttar in on a weak super effective attack; you generally want ttar to take as little damage as possible until it gets rolling with dragon dance.

Team Options
========

-togekiss/amoonguss/clefable is a must
-lucario, ludicolo for offensive support with follow me / fake out (just to make it a little more clear)
Other Fake Out support users work too, but a lot of them like Kangaskhan struggle with the same things ttar doesn't like such as Steels and Fighting.
-excadrill, safeguard, taunt support to keep thund at bay
-talonflame, sylveon, latios for fighting/megasaur/amoonguss removal
-entei, rotom-h, conkeldurr, volcarona for steel removal (volc also has rage powder)

Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Rock Slide
move 2: Low Kick
move 3: Ice Punch / Fire Punch / Stone Edge
move 4: Crunch
ability: Sand Stream
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly

Moves
========

-rock slide for fast flinch
-low kick for steels/kang
-ice punch for landog, dragons
-fire punch for steels, amoonguss, scizor, ferro
-Stone Edge gives you a really powerful, useful hit (when it hits)
-crunch for secondary STAB

Set Details
========

max offensive investment for max output
you can run ice beam over ice punch and dark pulse over crunch to go mixed, but outside of intimidate, physical is stronger

Usage Tips
========

use this ttar to get quick damage off or revenge kill threats like mega kang (don't switch into kang directly cos you'll get pooped on).

Team Options
========

-togekiss/amoonguss
-mega charizard-y, other fire-types
-mega metagross
-this set doesn't work as well with sand rush excadrill b/c no protect. mold breaker exca does alright though.
-latios, gardevoir for psychic type coverage (mega venu, fighting types)

Assault Vest
########
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Rock Slide / Stone Edge
move 2: Dark Pulse / Crunch
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Fire Blast / Earth Power
ability: Sand Stream
item: Assault Vest
evs: 252 HP / 92 Def / 164 SpA
nature: Relaxed / Bold

Moves
========

rock slide for spread STAB
-stone edge for stronger single target STAB (esp. vs mons like rotom-h, megazard after intimidate)
-crunch, dark pulse for secondary STAB
-ice beam for landog,garchomp, mega mence, etc
-fire blast for shrooms, steels
-earth power for steels, particularly heatran

Set Details
========

EVs:
3HKO'd by moves like gardevoir's moonblast, dmeteor can't even touch it
lives crit landog EQ
rest in special attack
OHKOs most landog w/o assault or yache
you can take more out of special attack to make rock slide stronger against certain things like charizard.
you can also run a sassy/calm nature or invest more in special defence to make sylveon's hyper voice a 3hko. it's that bulky.
against x4 weak mons, having a bold nature doesn't really hinder you much, so don't be deterred from using rock slide/stone edge with a bold nature. besides, ancienpower sucks.

Usage Tips
========

use this as an offensive pivot against stuff like charizard-y/fire types in general, mega mence, and basically any special attacker. it takes a lot to OHKO ttar on the special side. (specs sylveon's hyper beam for instance)
keep it away from kangaskhan and fighting-types. metagross too, unless trick room (you still can't ohko it, though).

Team Options
========

-amoonguss/togekiss/clefable
-megagross, latios
-mega charizard-y (you can swap up the weather constantly to keep rain away)
-cress, jellicent, gothitelle (trick room) (in goth's case, heal pulse and trick room)
-talonflame (tailwind, brave bird)

Tank
########
name: Tank
move 1: Rock Slide / Stone Edge
move 2: Crunch / Ice Punch
move 3: Low Kick / Ice Punch
move 4: Protect
ability: Sand Stream
item: Chople Berry / Weakness Policy
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

rock slide for spread STAB
-stone edge for stronger single target STAB (esp. vs mons like rotom-h, megazard after intimidate)
-crunch for secondary STAB
-ice punch for landog, basically
-low kick for steels, etc
-protect for not getting pooped on by fighting types

Set Details
========

max attack and hp for bulk and power. run more bulk against certain things or more speed if you need it. you can use brave for and against trick room.

Usage Tips
========

chople keeps you safe from conkeldurr and terrakion, but not against mega kang low kick, so watch out.
basically, kill stuff that has fighting moves ASAP if tyranitar is important to the matchup.
use this as an offensive pivot. switching in on weaker super effective moves like giga drain and scald (pray for no burns) to get the weakness policy boost is ace, but otherwise you can leave it in on an EQ and live it to get the boost. make sure you can do something with that boost, though (ie, remember your speed control)!

Team Options
========

-excadrill
-amoonguss/togekiss
-megagross, cress, latios
-mega charizard-y
-garchomp, landog
-talonflame

Other Options
########

-assurance (paired with rock sliders/megazard)
-superpower
-vgc14 standard fast special tar
-thunder wave, taunt
-choice band
-focus sash
-leftovers

Checks & Counters
########

**Fighting-type moves**: mkang power up punch, terrakion CC/double kick, superpowers n stuff directed at checking mega kang, lucario :)

**Landorus-T**: intimidate, STAB EQ

**Steel-types**: mega mawile, bisharp, megagross (have to watch out for coverage moves)

**Rain teams**: ttar doesn't match up well with waters with its sand gone :(
