Hello and welcome, Pokemon Fans! We have a special treat in store for you today, albeit a bit chilly. Today we have the second battle of the Ice Gym under the helm of waterwarrior. He earned the gym through an engagement against Glacier Knight, and ultimately triumphed in earning the gym with his well-trained Ice Pokemon. This specialty type is known for being a glass cannon of sorts here in ASB. waterwarrior is sure to hit hard and fast in this match. Although not normally his star Pokemon, note Cloyster and its presence in this match. Its massive defense combined with its excellent counter-typing will suit it well against the fiery opposition.

And challenging today is trainer Geodude6. Previously known for refereeing a ridiculous amount of matches and then johning them, this battler has come a long way since his humble beginning. He recently earned a qualifier for the Fire-type gym, and succeeded in one of the matches versus Canis Majoris. The result of those qualifiers is that Geodude6 was left with a pile of strong Fire-type Pokemon, so what better way to utilize them then by challenging the Ice-type gym? Watch out for his Blaziken this match, with its two dual-STABs that are super effective against the gym's flagship typing. Although it can't Mega Evolve with the current rules, it's sure to leave a mark.

And just like that, this gym match is underway! waterwarrior leads out with Mr. Freeze, his trusted Mamoswine. That's right, folks, Glacier Knight isn't the only one with a big pig out there. Mr. Freeze has a hefty movepool with an Enigma Berry attached for extra bulk, and its looking keen to get a KO. Geodude6 reponses with Angel his beloved Charizard. It won't be mega-evolving this match, but it's sure to leave a dent this match.

Although Mamoswine are typically slower than Charizard, Mr. Freeze sports a solid nature that boosts its natural speed to higher levels. He begins by launching a flurry of rocks at Charizard. Although the dragon is holding a Charti Berry to smooth out its quadruple weakness, it can't reliably stop Mr. Freeze from scoring a critical hit. Charizard response by firing off an energized blast at the mammoth. This move sure is a gamble; Mamoswine's Ice Body makes Focus Blast a coin flip in the current weather conditions. The hit lands and damage is dealt. The pig responds by consuming a bite of its Enigma berry, regaining some HP.

Mamoswine continues its rocky offense by setting up Stealth Rock around the opponent's side of the arena. All of Geodude6's Fire-type Pokemon are going to take some brutal damage from those. Angel swoops in towards Mr. Freeze, and at the last moment flips its now-iron tail at beast. But the snowy elements work in Mamoswine's favor, as Charizard awkwardly fumbles into the snow, missing its mark. Not even remotely exhausted, Mr. Freeze launches more rocks at Charizard, and although it doesn't land another critical hit, it does impressive damage. Charizard rolls the dice once more with a Focus Blast, which finds its way through the precipitation to hit its mark. Mamoswine takes a final bite of its Enigma Berry and prepares for the worst.

The second round of this heated match is well underway. Angel takes quick action by fending herself with Endure. The weather effects in this arena don't cause residual damage, so it looks as if the flying lizard has a good shot of staying alive for at least one more round. But will it matter? Mamoswine follows up with a slew of rocks from above, which not only does a solid chuck of damage, but finishes off Charizard's Charti Berry, making its defenses significantly weaker for the rest of the match.

Charizard hurls forward with a Focus Blast. But unbeknownst to Geodude6, the move has horrendous accuracy in this snow-laden arena. The burst of energy flies wildly away from its target. Mr. Freeze doesn't delay at all, and retaliates with a powerful Stone Edge. The move deals a third of Charizard's overall HP, but the pseudo-dragon manages to hang on thanks to Endure. Enraged, Angel slings back another ball of fighting energy, but it misses its target yet again. waterwarrior's Mamoswine goes for style here by throwing off some more boulders at Charizard, dealing a massive amount of damage. At the end of the round, it looks like Charizard is close to finished, while Mamoswine is still raring to go.

Geodude6 fiddles with the two remaining Pokeballs in his hands, debating his next choice with care. Upon cracking a knowing smile, he makes his selection and sends out the second member of his party: Abnormality the Blaziken. With her dual STABs being super-effective against Ice-type Pokemon, it's sure to leave a mark on the match. It doesn't come in entirely fresh though; the pointed rocks set up around the arena take their tole on the fighter.

Mamoswine barely glances at the newcomer and continues with its vicious onslaught. A shocking earthquake rips through the snow, landing a critical hit on Blaziken. Although the blow is lessened thanks to its Enigma Berry, it still takes a large chunk of HP. Abnormality launches an impressive counter attack with a fighting jab, which finds its mark within the snowy conditions. Mr. Freeze is still looking healthy, and returns a new blow with a Bulldoze, simultaneously lowering its opponents' speed and finishing off its fruity resource. Blaziken responds by creating a replicate of itself in the form of a substitute. waterwarrior flashes a confused face; why would he utilize Substitute with such a low amount of HP remaining?

The gym leader's mammoth takes no time in launching off another ground-based assault, completely tearing the substitute to shreds. The expression on Blaziken's face completely focuses in throughout the oncoming tremors; its mental intensity will not be broken. All of that intellectual power channeled itself into a massive punch straight into the gut of Mamoswine. The terror lets out a low bellow that shakes the ground, and quietly falls into the snow without another sound.

Although waterwarrior lost his first Pokemon, it looks like he has a significant advantage at this point in the match. Blaziken will not only need to cooldown from its combination attack, but it also lacks a berry to defend itself with. Let's see what happens next.

waterwarrior shakes the newly-fallen snow off of his heavy parka. With Mr. Freeze down, he's lost one of his strongest Ice-types against these fiery foes. After a moment of pondering, he pulls a well polished Pokeball from the depths of his coat. With a quick flourish, Chell the Jynx takes the field, with high ambitions of finishing off the opposing threat.

Abnormality must cooldown from the gigantic combination attack from last round, so Chell takes no time to tarry. She closes her eyes and shoots a few quiet words into the skies. After coming to, Blaziken realizes that a new enemy is standing in front of her. With a loud cry, the fighter slams its flaming foot right into Jynx's gut. The combination of STAB, Dry Skin, and super-effectiveness leads to massive damage for the wintry queen. But throughout the whole ordeal, her face was sketched in pure concentration. Blaziken cocks her head sideways, wondering what's happening. Chell's eyes snap open, and she releases a behemoth of a Counter at Blaziken, effectively outdamaging the opponent with the strength of its own Blaze Kick. With a final cry, Abnormality falls on its knees into the freezing snow.

Geodude6 frowns as his Blaziken returns to its Pokeball. He's only got one Pokemon left to fend against the fearsome Ice-type gym leader and his two healthy Pokemon. With a quick flourish and a look of grim determination, the challenger sends out Birchman the Pyroak to command the final rounds. Its HP and massive bulk guarantee that it's not going to go down without a proper fight.

Jynx takes no time in tearing into new flesh; she launches a powerful mental attack that throws Pyroak against the ground, with its bulky frame augmenting the damage received. Pyroak quickly clambers back up to stomp its feet into the snow. The sound reverberates across the snow-laden mountains as several pointed rocks emerge from the earth to surround waterwarrior's side of the arena. The threatening stones don't phase Chell in the slightest. She unleashes a powerful Blizzard attack, which chills Pyroak to the bone. As if we weren't cold enough already!

Despite the freezing temperature, our final challenger doesn't seem to have its spirits dampened quite yet. Birchman tanks the onslaught and leaps off the ground with a mighty flip. The behemoth's tail comes crashing down onto Jynx's forehead, sending it flying backwards with impressive speed. But before Chell is whisked off the field from the blow, she releases a final Psychic assault, sending Pyroak flying backwards at a similar speed. It looks like both Pokemon are down for the count... but wait! With an explosion of melting snow, Birchman leaps from the ground and makes direct contact with a flaming kick. It catches Jynx off guard and deals an impressive amount of damage! With a look of surprise, Jynx is sent reeling back to her Pokeball, only to bring forth the third and final defending Ice-type Pokemon...
