A Warstory Without Blissey, Tyranitar, Gyarados, or Even a Dragon!

Howdy y’all. It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a warstory, so I figured it was about time to bore everyone to death again. Well, recently I’ve become addicted to Shoddy Battle, so great battles come around every once in a while. If you like long, extremely close matches, you... may like this.

In an attempt to avoid homework, I log into Shoddy, go to the Find tab, and look for a Ladder Game. I get paired up with Graviton, one of the highest people on the ladder.

Graviton’s Team:

Pookaveli’s Team:

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause

I’ll omit all Leftovers, Stealth Rock, and similar things. (For reference, Heatran, Starmie, Gliscor, Celebi, Feraligatr, Claydol, and Shuckle all have Leftovers.) By the way, many people come in and out of the room as the match goes on. If a comment was funny/useful, I included it. If it wasn’t... well, this warstory is long enough as it is.

Graviton sent out no skarmbliss (lvl 100 Infernape ?).
Pookaveli sent out Feraligatr (lvl 100 Feraligatr ?).

Based on type, you may think I’m at an advantage here. However, Infernape is so full of tricks that I never know what it’s gonna do. Although I have a bad feeling, I decide to just play it safe with Waterfall. If he stays in, it’s a certain KO (unless he has a Sash). If he switches to a wall, he won’t know if I’m Choice Banded or not, so I can stay unpredictable. Let’s see what happens!

Infernape used U-turn.
Feraligatr lost 28% of its health.
Graviton switched in no ubbers (lvl 100 Celebi).
Feraligatr used Waterfall.
It's not very effective...
Celebi lost 12% of its health.

Well, that was probably the worst-case scenario for me. I lost a big chunk of my health, and I still don’t know a damn thing about his Infernape because I’m too lazy to run damage calcs during a battle... whatever, I’ll find out eventually. Now to get my ass outta there before the (Leaf) storm comes!

Pookaveli switched in Shuckle (lvl 100 Shuckle ?).
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Shuckle was seeded!
Shuckle's health was sapped by leech seed!
Shuckle lost 12% of its health.
Celebi regained health!

Well, Shuckle was seeded, but it’s not a big deal. I’m guessing it doesn’t have Leaf Storm, but I can’t know that for sure. Either way, my turtle should be safe for at least one turn. This is a great opportunity to get Stealth Rock down.

[Commence humor]
Graviton: =o
Graviton: Leech Seeded SHuckle
Graviton: I'm healing now!
Lakaniss: gj
the_real_toad: ;_;
Pookaveli: lol
[/humor]

Celebi used U-turn.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.
Graviton switched in and NO HAX@! (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Shuckle used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!

The rocks are down... woot. Well, Gliscor isn’t a particularly huge threat to Shuckle, so I’ll give a teammate an easy switch in.

Gliscor used Stealth Rock.
Shuckle used Encore.
Gliscor got an encore!

Lakaniss: encore on stealth rock, suck

Yes, suck indeed. Since I don’t really know what he’s gonna do, I might as well spin away those rocks.

Graviton switched in no swtiching (lvl 100 Dugtrio ?).
Pookaveli switched in Claydol (lvl 100 Claydol).

Now I get to see if he has a Ghost. I want to get rid of Stealth Rock, but I’m not using Rapid Spin for three reasons. 1) If he uses Sucker Punch, I may not get to Rapid Spin at all. 2) If he switches into a Ghost (I’m expecting Dusknoir), I can hopefully cripple it. 3) Any move Dugtrio uses besides Sucker Punch won’t do jack, so I can afford to do this.

Graviton switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Claydol used Toxic.
Celebi was badly poisoned!
Celebi is hurt by poison!
Celebi lost 6% of its health.

Ok... that wasn’t an option. But hey, I’ll take it. I’m fairly sure I can survive a Leaf Storm, so let’s spin away and see what he does.

Celebi used Leech Seed.
Claydol was seeded!
Claydol used Rapid Spin.
Claydol was released!
Claydol blew away the spikes!
Celebi lost 2% of its health.
Celebi is hurt by poison!
Celebi lost 12% of its health.

Graviton: undo
Graviton: Arg
Pookaveli: lol :)

Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made you out of clay. Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel... oh, sorry. Wow, that couldn’t have worked out any better. Stealth Rock is out, and I’m free of my seeds. Now I’m afraid of a Grass move, though. Let’s go to someone who can take a hit.

Pookaveli switched in Shuckle (lvl 100 Shuckle ?).
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Shuckle was seeded!
Celebi is hurt by poison!
Celebi lost 19% of its health.

Hey, I don’t mind; Toxic damage will add up faster than the Leech Seed recovery. Let’s Knock Off those Leftovers, though.

Celebi used U-turn.
Shuckle lost 8% of its health.
Gravitron switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).

Shuckle used Knock Off.
Shuckle knocked off foe Gliscor's Leftovers!
Gliscor lost 1% of its health.

Oh, Celebi has Natural Cure... d’oh! Well, at least I got someone’s Lefties. Stealth Rock is coming, so I’ll get to my spinner.

Pookaveli switched in Claydol (lvl 100 Claydol).
Gliscor used Stealth Rock.

Now this is interesting. There’s a chance he might Ice Fang, and then Ice Beam would probably KO him. However, my team doesn’t really like Stealth Rock, getting rid of that is my first priority. Rock bad, spin good.

Graviton switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Claydol used Rapid Spin.
Claydol blew away the spikes!
Celebi lost 2% of its health.

Well, he's pretty weak; let’s see how much an Ice Beam will do.

Celebi used Grass Knot.
It's super effective!
Claydol lost 56% of its health.
Claydol used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 29% of its health.

Argh, not quite enough. Time to get out of there. I can’t have my dreidel break yet; it’s the holiday season!

Pookaveli switched in Houndoom (lvl 100 Houndoom ?).
Celebi used Recover.
Celebi restored 50% of its health.

Graviton: THAT's what I wanted to do when I Leech Seeded

Damn, that thing just healed itself. Oh well, let's take a risk here and go on the offensive. I’m guessing nothing on his team will like eating a Fire Blast. Sure, seems like a pretty safe plan to me.

Graviton switched in no ch'es (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Houndoom used Fire Blast.
Heatran's Flash Fire raised its fire power!

...shit. All right, let’s switch to Claydol so it can take the Earth Powe..

Pookaveli: i knew that was a bad idea :(
Graviton: Hope that's Early Bird Houndoom
Graviton: :)
Graviton: Come on, Heatran

Wait, what did he say? Early Bird Houndoom? I guess he’s going to try a Fire attack then, so I might as well take advantage. I’ll play it safe with Substitute, though. I may be getting tricked, but at least I'll find out what kind of Heatran (Scarf, Specs, etc.) it is in the end.

Houndoom used Substitute.
Houndoom lost 25% of its health.
Houndoom made a substitute!
Heatran used Lava Plume.
Houndoom's Flash Fire raised its fire power!

Graviton: lol
Graviton: Darn
GaryMayhem: lol
the_real_toad: lol
Graviton: I knew that was a bad idea

Houndoom: lol, wtf r u doin

Something in my head tells me he’ll switch here. Call me crazy, but I have a feeling. I’ll go with it.

Houndoom used Nasty Plot.
Houndoom's special attack was sharply raised.
Heatran used Earth Power.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Houndoom!
Houndoom's substitute faded!

Graviton: :(

(I think he was expecting HP Fighting to come next.)

What the hell was I thinking again? I’m not packing HP Fighting, so that was stupid. I just... *sigh* Well, I'd better save Houndoom for later.

Pookaveli switched in Claydol (lvl 100 Claydol).
Claydol makes ground moves miss with Levitate!
Heatran used Earth Power.
Heatran's attack missed!

Well, I can take any attack the flaming toilet spews at me, and Earthquake will probably KO because of the 4x weakness. Sounds good.

Heatran used Lava Plume.
Claydol lost 46% of its health.
Claydol used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 74% of its health.

Graviton: It's Tanktran

Note to self: 4x Weak doesn’t mean instant OHKO.
Well, time to sacrifice my Hanukkah toy. You did your job, buddy.

Heatran used Lava Plume.
Claydol lost 17% of its health.
Pookaveli's Claydol fainted.

the_real_toad: and the first poke goes down
5-6

After about 350 turns, he gets the first KO. I want to keep on the offensive, though... mostly because I want this match to end sometime in the next hour.

Pookaveli switched in Feraligatr (lvl 100 Feraligatr ?).
Graviton switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Feraligatr used Swords Dance.
Feraligatr's attack was sharply raised.

Good, I predicted the switch and got a stat boost out of it. Ice Punch should finally get rid of this grass bastard.

Celebi used Grass Knot.
It's super effective!
Feraligatr lost 65% of its health.
Feraligatr used Ice Punch.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 65% of its health.

I guess not. Grr, curse Celebi for being so sturdy... Well, Grass Knot won’t do anything to Shuckle, so I might as well save Gatr; it may come in handy later (WINK WINK).

Pookaveli switched in Shuckle (lvl 100 Shuckle ?).
Celebi used Grass Knot.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.

Knock that apple out of its hand, damn it!

Celebi used U-turn.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.
Graviton switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Shuckle used Knock Off.
Gliscor lost 1% of its health.

You win this time, Celebi, but I will get you! Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow... but maybe tomorrow. Anyway, I feel like staying on the offensive, so let’s get a free switch on this obvious Stealth Rock.

Pookaveli switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Gliscor used Stealth Rock.

From what I’ve seen so far, Gengar should be able to thrash his entire team. However, there’s a Pokemon I haven’t seen yet (which I assume to be a Special wall), so let’s try to put it to sleep.

Gengar used Hypnosis.
Gliscor fell asleep!
Gliscor is fast asleep!

I guess he doesn't have anything for Gengar? By the way, my Gengar is Scarfed (don't laugh :(). So yeah, I gotta get outta here. I told you saving Feraligatr would be worth it!

Graviton switched in no swtiching (lvl 100 Dugtrio ?).
Pookaveli switched in Feraligatr (lvl 100 Feraligatr ?).

Pookaveli: boo

Feraligatr: Thanks, asshole.

Boo indeed. I just lost another Pokemon. :(

Dugtrio used Aerial Ace.
Feraligatr lost 18% of its health.
Pookaveli's Feraligatr fainted.

4-6

Since it didn’t take Life Orb damage, I’m assuming that Dugtrio is Choice Banded. Either way, it’s not going to do much to Shuckle, so I can get some free healing out of this. Hopefully he doesn't keep it in and keep attacking until Aerial Ace's PP runs out...

Hey, I told you it was gonna be a long story, right?

Pookaveli switched in Shuckle (lvl 100 Shuckle ?).
Graviton switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Shuckle used Rest.
Shuckle fell asleep!
Shuckle restored 84% of its health.

ArcAileRowen: Incredible...

Yes, I am incredible... oh, you mean Shuckle. -_- Anyway, I guess he wants to use this opportunity to wake up. Gliscor isn’t doing anything to me, so I can wake up, too.

Gliscor woke up!
Gliscor used Ice Fang.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.
Shuckle is fast asleep!

Gliscor used Roost.
Gliscor restored 31% of its health.
Shuckle is fast asleep!

Pookaveli: well, this is gonna take a while

Since nothing can really take a hit (Houndoom, Gengar, and Toxicroak would all take major damage from the right move), I can’t safely switch out. Gliscor isn’t going to KO Shuckle any time soon, though. Indeed, this is going to take a while.

Gliscor used Ice Fang.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.
Shuckle woke up!
Shuckle used Knock Off.
Gliscor lost 1% of its health.
Shuckle's leftovers restored its health a little!
Shuckle restored 6% of its health.

Graviton: Hmm
Graviton: If only I knew what the mystery Pokemon is
Graviton: Then I'd feel comfortable sacrificing something
Pookaveli: lol
Pookaveli: sacrificing something.. to shuckle
Graviton: lol
Graviton: The item
Graviton: I don't know what item is the least useful

The next three turns are Ice Fang and Knock Off going back and forth. Zzz..

Gliscor used Earthquake.
Shuckle lost 19% of its health.
Shuckle used Knock Off.
Gliscor lost 1% of its health.

Wait, he did something different! *Light bulb flashes on.* I can Encore his Earthquake and get a safe switch in for my Gengar!

Gliscor used Ice Fang.
Shuckle lost 8% of its health.
Shuckle used Encore.
Gliscor got an encore!

Damn, he's smrt. Well, maybe he’s predicting a switch from me, so I’ll try to Knock Off an item.

Gliscor used Ice Fang.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.
Shuckle used Knock Off.
Gliscor lost 1% of its health.

Fine, it's time to make a damn move.

Pookaveli switched in Houndoom (lvl 100 Houndoom ?).
Gliscor used Ice Fang.
It's not very effective...
Houndoom lost 14% of its health.

He’s obviously switching here, but what should I do? I’m not giving Heatran another boost, Nasty Plot is too risky, and I don't have enough HP to Substitute then take LO recoil, so Dark Pulse it is. Plus, I don’t think Heatran can survive two Dark Pulses at this point. Regardless, I’m taking a bite out of something. Houndoom is out for BLOOD!

Graviton switched in bo scarfbanders (lvl 100 Starmie).
Houndoom used Dark Pulse.
It's super effective!
Starmie lost 87% of its health.
Graviton's Starmie fainted.
Houndoom lost 10% of its health.

4-5

Well, that really surprised me. Maybe he was predicting a Fire Blast or a Nasty Plot? Oh well, I’m not complaining! Now we’re starting to get some action. It’s time to d-d-d-duel!

What?

Graviton switched in Dugtrio (lvl 100 Dugtrio ?).
Pointed stones dug into Dugtrio.

Now I’m complaining. Wahhhh :(

Dugtrio lost 6% of its health.
Dugtrio used Aerial Ace.
Houndoom lost 27% of its health.
Pookaveli's Houndoom fainted.

3-5

Pookaveli switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).

Since it’s Banded, I don’t have to worry about Sucker Punch. I think another Pokemon is going down... who's next?

Graviton switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Gliscor lost 45% of its health.

Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Gliscor lost 38% of its health.
Graviton's Gliscor fainted.

3-4

Gliscor going down is a HUGE relief for me. I’m happy I’ve kept my last Pokemon a secret; otherwise, there’s no way he would’ve sacrificed Gliscor.

Graviton switched in Infernape (lvl 100 Infernape ?).

For some reason, my mind is telling me a Shadow Ball will KO Infernape, so let’s do that. I mean, it is max Special Attack Gengar.

Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Infernape lost 73% of its health.
Infernape used Flare Blitz.
Gengar lost 88% of its health.
Pookaveli's Gengar fainted.
Infernape was hit by recoil!
Infernape lost 15% of its health.
Graviton's Infernape fainted.

Pookaveli: boo :(

2-3

Note #2 to self: Stop trusting your mind.

Now it’s getting intense. I know he has Celebi, Heatran, and Dugtrio left, and I have Shuckle and Toxicroak (which he doesn’t know about). At this point, it's pretty much over for me. It looks impossible for me to win.

Voice of Chris Berman: But that’s why they play the game!

Graviton switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Pookaveli switched in Shuckle (lvl 100 Shuckle ?).
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Shuckle was seeded!
Shuckle used Knock Off.
Shuckle knocked off foe Celebi's Leftovers!
It's super effective!
A critical hit!

YES YES CRIT HAX!!! OMG

Celebi lost 3% of its health.

Graviton: I'm dumb
Graviton: I didn't know how weak it was
GaryMayhem: lol
putty: ya

I don’t know what he would’ve done differently, but oh well. Time to rest up!

Celebi used Grass Knot.
Shuckle lost 8% of its health.
Shuckle used Rest.
Shuckle fell asleep!
Shuckle restored 98% of its health.

I survived with 2% lol. Go Shuck!

Celebi used Recover.
Celebi restored 50% of its health.
Shuckle is fast asleep!
Shuckle's leftovers restored its health a little!

Celebi used Grass Knot.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.

After I see that Celebi has healed completely, I come to realize...

Pookaveli: I'm dumb.
Pookaveli: should've let the idiot die
the_real_toad: well admitting it is the hardest part

Yeah, big mistake by me. If I had used Encore instead of Rest, I would’ve given Toxicroak a free switch in. What a great time to make a mistake! Oh well, let’s make the best out of this situation.

Celebi used Grass Knot.
Shuckle lost 8% of its health.
Shuckle woke up!
Shuckle used Knock Off.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 1% of its health.

Repeat until Shuckle gets low on HP again. Zzz..

Celebi used Grass Knot.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.
Shuckle used Encore.
Celebi got an encore!

All right, here’s the plan. Celebi finishes off Shuckle with Grass Knot, then Toxicroak comes in to do his thang because Grass Knot won’t do anything to him.

Celebi used Grass Knot.
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.
Shuckle used Knock Off.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 1% of its health.
Shuckle's health was sapped by leech seed!
Shuckle lost 9% of its health.
Pookaveli's Shuckle fainted.

1-3

Now to reveal the mystery Pokemon to the audience!

Pookaveli switched in Toxicroak (lvl 100 Toxicroak ?).

GaryMayhem: lol

I can’t blame this guy for thinking the game is over and laughing at my last Pokemon. I mean, what can Toxicroak do? ;)

Graviton switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Toxicroak used Swords Dance.
Toxicroak's attack was sharply raised.

Well, I know it isn’t Scarfed. As long as Cross Chop doesn’t miss, this is an easy kill. (Yes, Toxicroak is faster than Heatran.)

Toxicroak used Cross Chop.
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 32% of its health.
Graviton's Heatran fainted.
Toxicroak lost 10% of its health.

1-2

Graviton switched in Dugtrio (lvl 100 Dugtrio ?).

Hey, this is getting interesting! Maybe I have some hope. I only have one choice here, really. Hopefully he doesn’t realize what’s about to happen.

Toxicroak used Sucker Punch.
Dugtrio lost 75% of its health.
Graviton's Dugtrio fainted.
Toxicroak lost 10% of its health.

1-1

Graviton: oh yeah
Graviton: forgot
Graviton: :(
Pookaveli: lol

Hehe.

Graviton switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).

Well, this is it. It's a showdown between Celebi, the bane of my existence, and Toxicroak, my savior. Who will come out victorious?

Find out NEXT TIME! To be continued...

Oh, there isn’t a next episode? Fine. :\

I know he won’t fall for a Sucker Punch, so it’s time to get that Attack up.

Toxicroak used Swords Dance.
Toxicroak's attack was sharply raised.
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Toxicroak was seeded!

GaryMayhem: Intense

GaryMayhem (who must be Captain Obvious in disguise) pretty much sums it up; this is intense. Plus, I don't really know how much a Grass Knot will do. Once again, my mind tries to tell me what it thinks. What’s that? He’s going to attack me, so I should use Stone Edge? You’re the boss!

Toxicroak used Stone Edge.
Celebi lost 74% of its health.
Toxicroak lost 10% of its health.
Celebi used Recover.
Celebi restored 50% of its health.

For the last time, I need to stop listening to that damn thing. Why would he attack me if a Sucker Punch would surely be the end for him? I needed to Swords Dance again. Because of my mistake, this is a lot closer than it needs to be. I still don't know how much a Grass Knot will do, and I'm only at 40% health! But he's over 80% health, so a Stone Edge won't KO. Ugh!

Toxicroak used Swords Dance.
Toxicroak's attack was sharply raised.
Celebi used Grass Knot.
It's not very effective...
Toxicroak lost 20% of its health.

Wow, very good prediction by him. If I had used Sucker Punch, it would be over! Actually, that was a brilliant move. If I had used Stone Edge again, Life Orb + Grass Knot + Leech Seed would have spelled the end for me. Instead, I’m sitting at around 8% health.

Graviton: ok
Graviton: It all comes down to this
Pookaveli: !!!!!!!!!
Graviton: If only I had Sucker Punched with Dugtrio
Graviton: :(
Pookaveli: lol

Yes, it all comes down to this, folks. If Stone Edge hits, I win the game. If Stone Edge misses, I lose.

Toxicroak used Stone Edge.

I mean, 80% of the time I win, right? It’s a sure KO if it hits.

Wait, what if it doesn’t do enough? Damn, Celebi is pretty sturdy. That sure would suck if it barely survived.

Man, this is gonna be close.

This is EPIC!!!!

Fine, I’ll get to it.

Celebi lost 94% of its health.
Graviton's Celebi fainted.
Pookaveli wins!

Graviton: lol gg
Pookaveli: wow, gg

I really can’t believe I just won. Seriously, Toxicroak took down his last three Pokemon? Unbelievable.

Post-Game Commentary

GaryMayhem: damn. one mistake

Pookaveli: he may have balls for a chin, but I love Toxicroak

Graviton: I wish I had payed attention to Shuckle's HP
Graviton: And just sent out Dugtrio after the Infernape / Gengarmatchup
Graviton: Then I could have won
Graviton: Maybe
Graviton: :(
Pookaveli: Yeah, one move could've changed things either way
Graviton: Leaving in Celebi after the Encore to KO Shuckle was also dome
Graviton: Hmm
Graviton: I played this whole end-game bad
Graviton: That's usually my strength. :(
Graviton: gg

Thanks for the great game, Graviton. Simply amazing.

Props:
-Graviton for the awesome game.
-Not a single Blissey, Tyranitar, or even a Dragon is present in this warstory.
-You guys for taking the time to read this.
-Toxicroak. <3
-Obi for approving this (and thanks for the advice)!

Slops:
-This for being way too long.

Shouldn't this have been a tie, as life-orb should have KO'd you. Well I guess this is a shoddy glitch, but close battle nontheless.

Was a pain to read, but the good english kept me going,a long with the opponent being good. Although

Celebi used Leech Seed.
Claydol was seeded!
Claydol used Rapid Spin.
Claydol was released!
Claydol blew away the spikes!
Celebi lost 2% of its health.
Celebi is hurt by poison!
Celebi lost 12% of its health.

He just set up SR too, he obviously needed to go to something that would benifit from a Dol spinning.

Good Wartory though ;]

That was actually pretty awesome. I didn't realize how tough Toxicroak was until actually seeing it in play for this story. That seemed extremely risky at the end when Toxicroak was out against Celebi since a lot of Celebi carry Psychic which Toxicroak is 4x weak to, but I guess that's Obi's particular Celebi didn't have Psychic.

Heh, awesome warstory. Toxicroak has extra balls and is therefore extremely tough.

That was an awesome warstory, and I wasn't aware that Celebi was that sturdy (from mainly playing WiFi). I liked your commentaries by your Pokemon that you put in :P.

Bologo: To be fair, I had already seen all four of Celebi's moves (U-Turn, Leech Seed, Grass Knot, and Recover), so Psychic wasn't a worry.

Brawlex: I knew that, which is why I had it approved by him, but for some reason I kept calling him Graviton lol. Oh well.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

I think I remember your team. I lost to it twice actually. Toxicroak is quite a force to be reckoned with sometimes.

Still, great warstory.

Awesome warstory GJ to both of you and congrats on getting the win Pookaveli.

Above posters are talking about their record/s with you guys. So I guess Ill talk about it myself, I haven't fought either of you yet but am looking forward to the possibility next time.

If I recall, Graviton is Obi. XD
Nice Warstory, I actually read through the whole thing and had tons of chuckles throughout the whole thing, especially Shuckle surviving with 1-2% HP every time.

Toxicroak does seem to be amazing from reading this warstory. I'm gonna have to try him.

And good job on using Shuckle. Shuckle has always been a favorite of mine.

Shuckle has always been a favorite of mine.
Same here. That thing is honestly one of the most annoying pokemon to face, but one of the coolest pokemon to use. Heh, one of the best stealth rockers in the entire game, better than Blissey at special walling in a sandstorm (I think), the bulkiest encorer in the game, plus it can knock off items making anything fear switching into it initially.

Plus, Shuckle an amazing scouter since it really doesn't get OHKOed ever unless there is the rare Shuckle that has either no HP EVs or it focuses completely on one defense. It is kinda a very good idea to have a spinner with Shuckle on the team though...

Yeah, I realized it should have been a draw right after I approved it lol, which only makes this match all the more interesting. :toast:

Looking back, I don't know what I was doing in parts of that match. I don't mind mistakes in the opening, but I really screwed up at the end. The two biggest mistakes I made were

1) Switching to Celebi near the end instead of Dugtrio. Dugtrio would have KOed Shuckle with EQ, and then survived your Sucker Punch for the KO. That's what I meant when I said

Graviton: I'm dumb
Graviton: I didn't know how weak it was

2) Letting me remained Encored. I forgot that I may need to Leech Seed in case, well, something like that happened. I shoudl have switched to Heatran or Dugtrio for the KO, but I was being too conservative thanks to Knock Off.

In other words, I never switched from mid-game strategies to late-game strategies. It was a good game, though.

I also shouldn't have sent out Dugtrio when I did. If I had saved it for the last Pokemon, I could have finished you off with Sucker Punch instead of dying needlessly.

Great warstory Pooka, going to any CC's this weekend? We need to battle in Florida on August! GJ climbing the Shoddy ladder.

good story! toxicroak is NOT weak. so many times i'm making a team and i come up with a move list that i want but don't know what poke can carry it. then i look at toxicroak and it has all those moves in its move pool. fake out, sucker punch, x-scissor... the list goes on.

Obi: Now I understand what you were saying. Yeah, those scenarios would have screwed me completely, which is why I thought I had no chance to win to begin with. Live and learn I guess. I made plenty of mistakes myself during the game. Great stuff nonetheless.

Pablo: None this weekend, but I'll get to some. How about you? Yeah, I'll see you in Orlando!

As you guys can tell, I don't really like using the standard OU Pokemon (except Gengar; he has a little place in my heart). After only a few games with this team, Shuckle and Toxicroak have become two of my favorites. It was only fitting for them to work together to close the game out. Really, the cool thing about using these kinds of Pokemon is that my games are almost always really close; it makes things fun.

I love my Toxicroak. Nobody expects it. Nobody knows what it can do either haha. So many people have forgotten Sucker Punch. It is unreal. Dry Skin always gets activated for me and the reactions I get are priceless. I run sash with mine to make sure I atleast get in 1 Swords Dance. I try for 2, but sometimes it just isn't possible. My favorite 4th gen poke. Good battle. Great choice of pokes.
