WIP [AG] Arceus-Ghost

    • one of the best setup mons in the metagame, with its access to swords dance
    • good bulk and speed allow it to find many setup opportunities
    • the ghost typing is extremely useful, as the immunity to extreme speed and arceus-ghost's access to extreme speed itself make it hard to revenge kill. its typing also lets it function as a decent ekiller check
    • ghostium z's ability to turn arceus into its ghost-type forme gives it a one-time nuke in never-ending nightmare
    • the abundance of dark types and faster ghost types in the metagame such as yveltal, arceus-dark, mega gengar, and choice scarf lunala are able to deal with arceus-ghost, and its predictability makes it relatively easy to deal with
    • arceus-ghost has a hard time beating bulky pokemon such as zygarde-c after its z-crystal has been used, and the nature of z-crystals make it so arceus-ghost generally only has one chance to sweep
    • generally weak coverage moves if not boosted

    Set Comments


    • swords dance boosts arceus-ghost's attack by two stages, allowing it to hit extremely hard and ohko most foes with never ending nightmare
    • shadow force is stab and has a strong 120 base power, hitting most foes very hard after sd. however, it can be exploited by opponents who can switch out into a normal- or dark-type into shadow force to gain momentum. a ghostium z turns it into a 190 base power never ending nightmare that hits devastatingly hard after a swords dance, even to resisted threats.
    • brick break is coverage that is necessary to hit dark-types, which resist ghost-type moves, and normal-types, especially ekiller, which are immune to ghost-type moves. shadow force and brick break together are resisted by nothing, making it great two-move coverage
    • extreme speed can be used to revenge kill weakened foes before using swords dance and can be used to deal massive damage before arceus-ghost goes down. since arceus-ghost is immune to extreme speed itself, nothing can outprioritize arceus-ghost's own extreme speed.
    • on the other hand, recover is used for healing and can get arceus-ghost out of a tight spot considering how hard it is to revenge kill. it also lets it outlast many pokemon.
    Set Details
    • 252 attack and speed EVs maximize arceus-ghost's offensive potential. a jolly nature is used to allow arceus-ghost to speed tie with other max speed arceus formes and outspeed anything slower
    • ghostium z is used for a one-time nuke; it also change's arceus's type to ghost
    • multitype in conjunction with ghostium z turns arceus into a ghost-type.
    Usage Tips
    • arceus-ghost works best as a late-game sweeper
