I say preemptive "gg"s when my opponent is a complete and utter dick face to me when I get one scald burn and he's gotten 3 crits, 2 skillful dodges, and 5 para hax in a row against me. Then when I turn around and win it I can come out of that match feeling like a complete badass.

I personally only say gg when I'm 100% sure I'm going to win (but not if hax played a huge part in it) or 100% sure I'm going to lose whenever that is. There isn't really anything to gain if you say it when there is even a small chance that the outcome is in doubt. Just don't get too worked up over when your opponent says "gg", because (s)he could say worse things if (s)he really wanted to be an asshole. It really doesn't matter as much as who won the game and how good the players are overall because the better player doesn't always win every game.

Edit: I guess people make these kinds of threads when PS is down because they have nothing else to do.

Yeah, I think it's a little rude to gg before the end of a match. People do that to me sometimes, and even if I am completely incapable of actually doing anything to them, I'll still try to survive as long as possible.

A lot of people close the match tab window right after the match ends. I usually call GG on what seems to be the last turn of the game, no matter whether it looks like I'm losing or winning.

It's not that bad if you're just calling GG a few turns early as a common courtesy, as I know a lot of Starcraft and MOBA players like calling GG 1 or 2 mins before winning in a definite win. The only problem is people who call GG early when they get a pokemon down with a crit or who call GG just upon seeing your team, they ruin the entire sportsman-like point of calling GG.

yesterday while playing Anything Goes I saw a team of full dittos, said gg before even picking my pokemon. Ended up JUST BARELY winning due to hax. With my last Pokemon, a 2% paralyzed kyogre.

Once upon a time, in randbats, I had a Victini that was paralyzed, confused, and facing a Shaymin-S with Air Slash. No other pokemon on either side, Victini lived the Air Slash with less than 10% health. Two turns before, he had said gg.

I won with V-create.

And that is why you never preemptively gg, you will get butt smashed from hell.
