I meant because Onix rolls over and dies to anything Water or Grass typed on the special spectrum, but you could be correct as well; Onix vs anything with such a move and a weakness to its STAB is a very volatile matchup.

Earthquake - Rock Blast - Earthquake
If Solar Beam, use Rock Blast that action and push back.
If successful p/e move, use Sandstorm on the first instance, and Rock Polish on the second, pushing back in each case.
