Another RMT! The RaiSweep

Changes in RED. Hi all! This is my second RMT, and this time, it's focused on letting the Legendary Beast of Thunderbolts, Raikou, mop the floor with an opponents team! I know that the members are pretty standard, but I think they all work to accomplish the goal. So, here they are: After following some of the advice given to me, and trying it out on Shoddy (to great success I might add!) I have updated the team to the following.

Roserade @ Focus Sash
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

-Sleep Powder
-Toxic Spikes
-Leaf Storm
-Hidden Power (Fire)

This guy has been a key to my success, all thanks go to Stathakis for suggesting it! Focus Sash allows him to survive a hit, and his decent speed allows him to get Sleep Powder off most of the time. Toxic Spikes are extremely important, as Stathakis said, for Blissey, which is the bane of Raikou, this team's focus. Leaf Storm has amazing power behind it as well, and HP Fire help to counter any Ice types, Steels, etc.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 SpD
Sassy Nature

-Gyro Ball
-Earthquake
-Stealth Rock
-Grass Knot

This here's my lead, and a broken one for sure, but he works out well. No longer my lead, but incredibly important nonetheless. Acts as a backup sleeper, as Roserade usually doesn't last very long. Setting up SR and sleep is no surprise, but Bronzong's also here to stop Mamoswine from giving Raikou a tough time. Alot of handy resistances also benefit the team.

Machamp @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Spe
Adamant Nature

-Dynamicpunch
-Stone Edge
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

This guy is AWESOME! He can counter sooo many Pokemon that give my main man Raikou trouble (All those listed above except for Swampert). He also has a very important role on my team absorbing status, and his 100% confusion is VERY annoying.

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 168 Atk / 252 SpA / 88 Spe
Naughty Nature

-Rain Dance
-Waterfall
-Surf
-Ice Beam

Another awesome new addition, this guy packs alot of power and speed, and is handy for any taking out many different types, not only the Ground types that can give Raikou trouble. RD gives him about 456 Spd, letting him hit hard and fast. This guy usually takes out at least 1 Pokemon, usually 2, mostly because he can't take too many powerful boosted hits.

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature

-Stone Edge
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast

Decided to change my SDChomp to a Scarfchomp here, as I find he is handy for revenge kills, as well as packing serious power and speed right off the bat. Useful for softening up the defences of the other team. Though he may get locked into a useless attack, I find that he usually ends up taking out at least 1 Pokemon. Bronzong is usually still alive, as he is very tough, and he makes a handy switch for any oncoming attacks aimed at Garchomp.

Raikou @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 64 HP / 96 SpA / 96 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power (Ice)
-Calm Mind
-Substitute

Here he is, the main focus of the RaiSweep (obviously). Standard set here, as he relies on the rest of the team to set up the field for him. Substitute, then CM away as many times as possible. HP Ice over Grass, as I believe that it's more useful given it's wider coverage, and the fact that the rest of the team can handle the threats that Grass will do more damage against.

Well there you are, feel free to RMT! Again, this is only my second team, so any constructive criticisms and/or advice is most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your team is good as!

If you had the time i personally like outrage better on garchomp but thnx for the ideas on a vaporeon.

Maby a light screen or reflect might be good on bronzong.

If you want to help me please help me find a moveset and nature for a gardevior with healing wish to heal my exploding lickytounge.

I don't like how your whole team sans garchomp and machamp gets walled by blissey. what you have to keep in mind on raikou teams is beating the damn pink blob, usually by means of toxic spikes and dugtrio. speaking of toxic spikes, they absolutely ruin raikou's sweep, as well as garchomp's, and it makes vaporeon pretty crappy. um, yea, this team needs some work. I'd try to suggest little changes, but honestly, I think a total revamp is in order.

let's assume that you're going to keep raikou, as the team is based around him. now, let's make the lead, say, something like focus sash roserade, who is a good lead, sleeping things and setting toxic spikes, as well as being able to absorb them later in the game, and being a good switch into swampert. toxic spikes are quite crippling to blissey, which is a good thing when she counters your main sweeper. but that's surely not enough. let's add, say, a mixed rain dance kingdra, who could lure in and kill blissey, as well as taking away that debilitating sandstorm, and being a very potent sweeper in itself. now, a resttalking machamp, like the one you have here, can absorb status, as well as provide you with a good switch to blissey and tyranitar, and still do a wholesome amount of damage. now, at this point, you can deal with most of the stuff that raikou can't beat. a stealth rocking bronzong helps you deal with mamoswine and gets the rocks on the field, as well as sleeping any pokemon that you're not prepared for. at this point, you have one slot left, which I think should go to something like scarfed zapdos, who can bait blissey and then u-turn out to machamp, who will enjoy confusing a target as well as revenge kill lots of threats and being a decent switch into sdluke. so you have a team of roserade/bronzong/kingdra/raikou/zapdos/machamp. you're dealing better with blissey, who doesnt enjoy toxic spikes, and tyranitar/hippowdon/abomasnow lose to kingdra and machamp, so weather shouldn't be that much of a problem. your mamoswine issues are dealt with by bronzong, and you have a reliable sleep absorber. to deal with high powered offensive threats, you have to predict a bit, but scarfed zapdos is a pretty good revenge killer. if you aren't worried too much about sdluke, you could go with scarfzelf to revenge kill and even bait in and kill blissey with explosion. scarfzelf also has the advantage of not being weak to stealth rock, which may hamper zapdos a bit. you could of course try thunderbolt/hp ice/roost/uturn, but that would take some extra effort as far as prediction goes.

As to what Stathakis said, you could always use a "crushking."

Basically, any walls are meant to be mutilated by this thing, and I have used it to success. It does have quite a hard time switching in, but when you do get it in on any type of wall...

Yagami Light made this---------------

Nidoking@Life Orb
Poison Point
252 Atk/174 Sp. Atk/84 Speed with a Lonely/Naughty Nature

Fire Blast
Ice Beam
Megahorn
Earthquake

You outspeed any neutral base 60 speed pokemon, such as adamant Ttar, No speed Cress, No speed Gliscor, etc.

Here are the calcs...

Nidoking versus Blissey(148 HP/252 Def Bold) with EQ:
48.84% - 57.56% SR not needed in majority of cases.

Nidoking versus Skarmory (252 HP/0 Sp. Def Impish) with fire blast:
95.81% - 112.57% OHKO always with SR, OHKO in most cases without it.

Nidoking versus Cresselia ( 20 HP / 252 Def Modest) with Megahorn:
54.15% - 63.73% 2HKO with or without SR including LEfties.

Nidoking versus Gliscor 252 HP/252 Def Impish with Ice Beam:
135.88% - 159.89% Overkill.

Nidoking versus Weezing 252 HP/252 Def Bold with Fire Blast
47.90% - 56.29% SR not needed in majority of cases.

Nidoking versus Dusknoir 252 HP / 76 Def Careful with EQ:
46.60% - 54.76% SR kills this off.

Nidoking versus Bronzong with 252 HP/96 Sp. Def Relaxed with Fire Blast:
57.40% - 67.75% SR not needed. (If you do way less than this, feel free to EQ for the OHKO)

Nidoking versus Milotic 148 DP/228 Def Bold with EQ:
43.48% - 51.09% 2hko with SR in vast majority of cases.

Nidoking versus Tangrowth 252 HP/+ Def with Fire Blast:
101.98% - 120.05%

Hippowdon and Donphan are both 2HKOed by Ice Beam. Forretress is always OHKOed by Fire Blast.

As we see, all the common OU walls are destroyed. There is just one who is not killed in one-two shots by Crushking, and that's Swampert. However, Swampert cannot come in repeatedly. Now, for your pleasure, a list of attacks versus Nidoking (I'll regularly be updating this list, so there won't be much right now):

Cresselia Modest 232 EV Ice Beam: 65.68% - 77.23% , No EVs is 45.87% - 54.13% (If it's sleeping and it Ice Beams you, you won't die)

Heracross with 252 Attack EVs Adamant Choice Band Close Combat: 64.69% - 75.91% (You don't counter it, but you can stop the sweep)

This guy can literally suck up Tspikes. He is also Immune to Thunder wave and Toxic, which can really help your team. The only real problem is that bulky waters can be a real pain (especially Swampert)

But, you do have energy ball on your Gengar.

wow you guys have given me some awesome help here, i'm gonna test this out on shoddy, and ill fill you in on how it goes!

First of all, like 90% of the Raikou Teams, this team should have Dugtrio. Why? Dugtrio gets to trap some of Raikou's main counters, namely Tyranitar and Blissey.

First thing I agree with Stathakis on is Roserade. Raikou teams have problems with walls, not sweepers. Roserade also has an addidtion of Sleeping the opponenet.

Your team has trouble with Swampert, so why not try putting Grass Knot on Bronzong? You can always try Grass Knot / Stealth Rock / Rain Dance / Hypnosis [Or some other attacking move, because you already have a sleeper]

So in conclusion, your team would look something like Roserade / Raikou / Dugtrio / Bronzong / Machamp / Vaporeon.

Just two more notes: Don't put Trick Room on Bronzong, Raikou dosen't like Trick Room with all it's Speed. Also, Roserade is your lead, don't make Bronzong your lead!

why is garchomp runing fire blast with adamant? Since he's supposed to get in and out, might as well run lonely or naughty so your spA doesn't drop and fire blast will pack that much more power.

on a side note, raikou is awesome
