Alright, I'm posting this from my phone, so it will be slow and tedious with no pictures until later, but I'll try to make explanations for everything...
At a glance:
Arcanine :: Gligar :: Shaymin :: Blastoise :: Mienshao :: Azelf
Arcanine@Life Orb
Nature: jolly
Trait: intimidate
EVs: 252 atk, 252 spe
Flare Blitz
Wild Charge
Extreme Speed
Close Combat
Let us begin with the end, so to speak. I really wanted to use arcanine, and feels he works quite well as a late game cleaner. Not much else to say, went with full coverage offense set. First thing I think when I choose a fire poke is "yikes! Earthquake!" Which leads me to...
Gligar@eviolite
Nature: bold
Trait: immunity
EVs: 252 hp, 252 def
Roost
Earthquake
U-Turn
Stealth Rock
Physical wall, important earthquake immunity, and the also important stealth rock. Love this guy, as he does a couple jobs well. Also functions as a scout for whatever special threat they want to throw at him.
Blastoise@leftovers
Nature: bold
Trait: torrent
EVs: 252 hp, 252 def, 4 spd
Rapid Spin
Scald
Roar
Foresight
Alright, I've got my hazards, let's clean house with everyone's favorite spinning tortoise. A great bulky water, rapid spinner, and phazer. Also another favorite Pokemon, so that helps.
Shaymin@leftovers
Nature: timid
Trait: natural cure
EVs: 252 spa, 252 spe, 4 hp
Substitute
Leech Seed
Seed Flare
Psychic
What team is complete without a grass type? I considered Roserade, and the fight resist would be nice, but I wanted another ground resist more. I also felt that being hazard heavy would work better with leech seed either keeping the team healthy or forcing switches.
Mienshao@choice scarf
Nature: jolly
Trait: reckless
EVs: 252 atk, 252 spe
Hi Jump Kick
Stone Edge
U-Turn
Hidden Power Ice
Every team needs a choice scarfer, really, and Mienshao is by far my favorite, but how he synergizes with my team may be suspect, but hopefully not. Opinions here, very welcome.
Azelf@life orb
Nature: timid
Trait: levitate
EVs: 252 spa, 252 spe
Nasty Plot
Flamethrower
Psy Shock
Thunderbolt
I felt I needed another late game sweeper and a special attacker, and I feel Azelf covers this, along with the rest of my team, particularly Arcanine, quite nicely. He's frail, but the fighting resist can still be nice. Superb coverage. I was considering a Cofagrigus for this spot as a special attacker and spin blocker, but felt trick room was a bad idea with the rest of the team. Maybe a defensive set would be in order, but would that leave me open to special attackers? Or maybe they're already a big problem for this team. I'm new to UU, but would love to make this team operational...
