Moves
========
Stone Edge and Earthquake are the main forms of offense; they complement each other very well and grants Archen excellent neutral coverage. Stone Edge is specifically intended to hit common Flying-types. Rock Slide is an option over Stone Edge if one prefers better accuracy, but Archen will find itself unable to achieve a 2HKO on Spritzee or Porygon and an OHKO on Vullaby after having their Eviolite or Berry Juice Knocked Off. Earthquake primarily hits Steel-types and has better accuracy. Roost gives Archen a reliable means of recovering health, which is necessary given Archen's ability. Be wary of slower Ground- and Fighting-type attacks, as they become super effective on the turn Roost is used. The fourth slot is dedicated to support options, and can be tailored to the needs of Archen's teammates. U-turn can preserve offensive momentum by allowing Archen to react to switch-ins. Defog removes entry hazards for the relief of Archen and its teammates, and combined with Roost makes Archen a more consistent Defogger. Stealth Rock punishes switches through residual damage, and is extremely important on offensive teams. Knock Off allows Archen to cripple opponents to pave way for a teammates to sweep, but Archen's other options are generally more valuable to its team.

Set Details
========
The given spread maximizes Speed, and provides a boost to Archen's physical bulk and power, allowing it to keep up with Flying-types and remain a potent offensive threat. The Speed investment is also necessary for outrunning Pawniard, which would otherwise take advantage of Defog with Defiant. Eviolite further enhances Archen's bulk and complements Roost.

Usage Tips
========
Don't let Defeatist activate. Archen must be kept healthy with Roost, and Stealth Rock does not help accomplish this. This set is designed to keep up offensive pressure while taking advantage of Archen's bulk and natural speed by providing utility through one of its support moves and its Flying-type resistance. It is also one of the best options for removing Sticky Web due to Archen's high speed and immunity to the entry hazard.

Team Options
========
Archen's ability to handle Fletchling is appreciated by Fighting-types, including Mienfoo and Timburr. In turn, Fighting-types can handle Pawniard, Ferroseed, Tirtouga, and other Steel- or Rock-types. Grass-types, namely Pumpkaboo and Foongus, also appreciate Archen's Flying-type resistance, and provide an answer to the prominent Water-types in the metagame that trouble Archen. Pumpkaboo also has the advantage of handling the top Rapid Spin users, which may try to remove Archen's Stealth Rock. Pokemon that appreciate a lack of entry hazards are good potential teammates. Fire-types and Flying-types are especially notable, due to their viability in the metagame. Wallbreakers and sweepers appreciate Stealth Rock support from Archen. Pawniard, Abra, and Gastly are prime candidates for wallbreakers, and Timburr and Fletchling are potent sweepers.

Moving the HP EVs to SpD for a spread of 76 HP / 20 Atk / 76 Def / 76 SpD / 180 Spe a lets it hit Eviolite numbers.
Under moves:
"It is also Archen's most consistent attack, and should be the preferred option in most scenarios where a single Stone Edge or Earthquake will land a kill." This should probably be slightly reworded and moved to usage tips.
Mention in set details that the given EVs hit Eviolite numbers.

QC 1/3

edit: use 76 HP / 20 Atk / 76 Def / 76 SpD / 180 Spe as we discussed on PS

alright, ive updated with levi's check. ill also include reasoning for the new spread in the coming days

ready for the second check

I don't really know where I'd put it, but I think you should mention somewhere that this Archen set is the one of the best ways of clearing Sticky Web because of its speed and immunity to it.

Moves: "However, be wary of Ground- and Fighting-type attacks," --> "However, be wary of slower Ground- and Fighting-type attacks,"

Nice job QC 2/4 :)

Banned deucer.
Cut that and instead explain what Defeatist actually does, which is really the point of an ability sentence.

The dex provides the mechanics of abilities, so the ability sentence should simply explain why the ability was chosen and in some cases, how it should be utilized.

hey there

i was a bit short up there and kinda regretted it but to explain

i didn't really mean exactly what it does (I particularly despise the kind of justification sentence you're using in the analysis so i'd honestly prefer a mechanics repetition, but that's not really what I want); rather, how what it mechanically does matters. Something like "Defeatist is unfortunately Archen's only ability, and forces you to Roost often, lest your HP get too low and you be neutered as an offensive threat" but don't just CP that plz (does it have other ingame effects so to speak? idk personally this seems like a good place for you to talk about them, maybe you have to roost at some spot but the other guy knows that and EQs and you can't punish hard because Defeatist? just an asspull but hopefully you have some interesting scenarios)

  • In cases where an opposing Pokemon can be KOed by either Stone Edge or Earthquake, generally the safer option is to use Earthquake due to its higher accuracy.
I feel like this is just discussing super basic mechanics and should probably not be included.

  • Because of this set's support role, sometimes the best teammates are simply ones that appreciate Archen's support.
I also feel like this is another superfluous state, especially because it's somewhat vague.

Great job dude. I love Fast Evio.

'Deport removes hazards for the relief of Archen and its teammates' - defog lol

I want a Rock Slide slash, just because on a mon that's often important to keep alive+healthy Stone Edge can be unreliable

mention the speed is important to outspeed Pawniard who likes to come in on defog.

write up the team options section properly and i'll stamp this

'Rock Slide can be used over Stone Edge for better accuracy, but the drop in power is noticeable.' - cliché sentence, tbh without actually having any real substance. Where is it noticeable. e.g. it can't 2hko spritzee or porygon after knock off, so Stone Edge gives it the opportunity to break through rules. However, Rock Slide still does enough for Fletchling and the flying types it likes to check.

I wouldn't say U-turn is preferred, I feel like SR and defog are just as important on normal teams.

I dunno if the line about defeatist is necesary, since it should already say this in the overview of the set

fighting types also help vs, rock types

"The ones with the most synergy are Fire-types, namely Ponyta, Vulpix, and Larvesta, as they can handle Grass-types for Archen" - grass types aren't that much of a problem for archen, they don't really threaten it. maybe just change to fire and flying types appreciate entry hazard removal
