TSPheonix: You're wrong, they must be poison type, not simply immune. In fact, immune poison types won't absorb them. Hi read the rest of the thread.

If you want to abuse Toxic Spikes, choice scarf guts machamp isn't bad. Or Heracross, if you want to be so OU.

Other than that, do what everyone else said and put Roserade/Venusaur/Tentacruel on there.

You don't even out defenses >_>

You should focus all your defenses into a single stat. Specialists rule this game. If the opponent sends a pokemon who will attack your weaker defense, bring out your other wall specialist.
Not that the topic is about this (but the topic is dumb), but I whole-heartedly disagree.

Actually I think he was more talking along the lines of 'specialists rule the game' thing. As this is what mixed sweepers such as Electivire, Infernape, Salamence, and Tyranitar would have field days with. But then again there's not a single case that's true for every Pokemon.

For example, that could be true for Drapion but Blissey would beg to differ and so on.

4 Pokemon with Rapid Spin are immune, absorb, or Natural Cure off toxic spikes. Every team should carry a Pokemon with Rapid Spin.

Unless you have a chronic addiction to Donphan or Blastoise (and who wouldn't *swoons*), you've just found your Toxic Spikes counter.

I state that these are the best because they not only deal with Toxic Spikes, but any other static-switch damage effects as well. While Venusaur and Drapion are big mean monsters, you're not really offering extended protection to the rest of your team (aside from not poisoning dudz, which is nothing to underestimate but...). By making your Rapid Spinner your all-in-one Spike/Rock nullifier, you accomplish much more with a single Pokemon, leaving your team open to include a Pokemon on the merit that it is good and not simply because it sucks up spikes. (also, inb4 Nidoking)

I agree with Aero, I would argue against this "Skarmbliss" train of thought with all the crazy mixers now in D/P (and with Life Orb to help them greatly).

Drapion is a hell of a physical tank though, like I mentioned. GREAT resistances, 70HP/110 defense, 95 speed. Just watch out for the EQ.

And they suck, like all pokemon with Rapid Spin. "Include a spinner" is really not a desirable answer for ANY circumstance.

I just wish there was a semi-decent grounded Poison-type with defenses of Nidoqueen or Drapion, but that had a reliable recovery move. Hell, the only spinner that has one is Starmie, and it really just does not have the kind of defenses to pull it off effectively ... sigh.

What the hell beyond forretress sets up toxic spikes in ubers anyway? Forretress is very good at its job in ubers, but have you actualy seen it use Tspikes? (not asking like your an idiot, Is it actually a thesible idea? I'm curious.)
Actually, Jeb, SlakingMaster and Great Sage started Toxic Spiking my entire team a while ago, and I blame everything on Great Sage (he introduced TS to ubers). I use one too. It's really dangerous...

So to answer your question, yes I've seen it used

So under that logic, including Explosion on Heatran/Azelf/Magnezone/Gengar, Hyper Beam on Porygon-Z, etc is totally worthless because all it does is attempt to kill Blissey? Drapion, in comparison to 3/4 of the "Can take TS and Spin," is fucking awesome? Seriously? Are you joking?
I fail to see how including something with Rapid Spin is bad when Rapid Spin is used to counter the most common field ailment currently in competitive battling.

But don't let my rambling be the final word; Tentacruel has moved from UU to "OU" status (OU as a descriptor only of actual usage #s). Starmie, despite sucking so much, has remained OU through 4 Generations. "If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid."

Guts users don't so much counter toxic spikes as take advantage of them. Forretress i think, i don't think they affect it and it can Rapid Spin them away.

Why Rapid Spin sucks:

Spikes (and its merry men) are useful all the time. Many pokémon can learn some variety of Spikes (especially SR). Rapid Spin is useful only as a counter to Spikes already laid. Few pokémon learn Rapid Spin. Even if Rapid Spin can be used to blow Spikes away, a Ghost pokémon may still switch in to block it.

Using Rapid Spin is like bringing a knife to a fistfight and then the other guy pulls out a gun and busts a cap in your eye.

"Starmie, despite sucking so much"
"Explosion on Heatran/Azelf/Magnezone/Gengar... is totally worthless because all it does is attempt to kill Blissey?"

Please stop being bad at this game.

Rapid spinners are like bringing a Knife to a gunfight, granted it's not going to help you much but if your rapid spinner is actually usefull outside spinning you might as well use it.

So let's all use poison Arceus!

Back on topic:
I use Drapion with: Taunt, Toxic Spikes, Knock Off, Brick Break.
Works great (=
