Project Break This Team (Week 42)

Weavile+ Zardy

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

as others have stated, this team is really weak to weavile, beating 4/6ths of the team. Pursuit lets it trap latios for Zardy. Zardy then beats Cobalion and Jirachi easily.

Banned deucer.

Manectric @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power Ice
Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick

The team is killed by these two. They form an excellent bolt-beam core, weavile kills every other member bar gyarados and cobalion, while manectric fixes this problem. Also, manectric provides volt-switch support for weavile, since weavile can't switch into anything due to life orb recoil, and also lowering opponent's attack with intimidate, somehow patching up weavile's paper thin defense.

BD Azu + Klefki

Elektra (Azumarill) (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Superpower / Knock Off

Matt (Klefki) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Play Rough / Foul Play
- Thunder Wave
- Spikes
- Magnet Rise / Toxic

Belly Drum Azumarill is certainly an annoying Pokemon for this team to face. Assuming one layer of spikes is in play, Mew, Jirachi, and Lando-T are one-shotted by a +6 (+5 in Lando's case) Aqua Jet, while Cobalion has a 37.5% chance (three layers guarantees it). Latios takes up to 75.2% from a +6 Aqua Jet, so it is able to live after one (assuming no prior damage), but it only does between 56.8% and 66.7% with Psyshock, which is not enough to ensure a KO after Sitrus Berry. Mega Gyarados performs the best defensively against Azu, only taking 46% max from a +5 AJ and 52.2% max from +6 one, but Gyara's EQ is only capable of doing between 41% and 49% damage to Azu, allowing Azu to go for the kill with Play Rough or Superpower.

To make Azu perform almost flawlessly against the core, hazard support and a switch-in to either Latios or Mega Gyarados (so that Azu doesn't have to take both a Psyshock and an EQ, which it can't) are imperative. Thankfully, Klefki exists, which is able to provide Spikes support and a very reliable Latios switch-in, especially when it doesn't have HP Fire or EQ. Klefki is also capable of switching into certain moves used by Mega Gyarados, Jirachi, and Cobalion so that it can paralyze them, allowing Azu to go for its stronger attacks vs. them and not have to always rely on Aqua Jet. Lando-T is very annoying for Klefki, being immune to T-Wave and doing more damage with Rocky Helmet than Klefki can to it with Play Rough (Magnet Rise allows Klefki to be immune to EQ), but Azumarill is able to alleviate this weakness, with its AJet able to kill Lando-T at +5.

No love for Volcarona?

Volcarona + Mega Diancie

Volcarona @ Passho Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Giga Drain
- Bug Buzz

Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 32 Atk / 224 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Protect

Quiver Dance Volcarona easily tears this team apart once it gets a Quiver Dance up as +1 Fire Blast / Bug Buzz OHKOes every single member of the team after Stealth Rock. Mega Diancie is added to the core because this team only has 1 Fairy resist in Jirachi, which is set-up bait for Volcarona. It also outspeeds (tie in Latios's case) every other member of the team and hits them hard with Moonblast / Diamond Storm. Another thing to keep in mind is that besides Jirachi, Volca can set up easily against -2 Latios, Mew and Cobalion.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP / 176 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Toxic

We all know how dangerous CM Clef is, and it's an annoying Pokemon for this team. With a Bold nature and max defense, it's able to 1v1 four members of this team: Latios, Lando-T, Mew, and Mega Gyara. Latios can only manage 37.8 - 44.9% with Psyshock and is easily paralyzed and boosted on by Clef. Because Lando-T is defensive, EQ is only doing 32.9 - 39%. As such, Clef will win 1v1 between healing, boosting, and attacking. Mew is completely walled and boosted on, only managing a meager 25.3 - 29.9% with one of its special attacking moves. Mega Gyara is paralyzed and taken down in two hits by Moonblast. Clef also tanks a +1 Waterfall decently (49.7 - 58.8%) and can try to fish for paralysis while healing off damage with Soft-Boiled.

Jira and Coba are the two Pokemon this team relies on to deal with Clef. Although they fear switching in directly because of paralysis and taking a good chunk from Moonblast in Coba's case (39.9 - 47.3%), having something to help deal with them is nice. This is why Chomp is here. Should Jira and Coba try attacking Clef, they will have to deal with the possibility of Chomp switching in and chipping them down with recoil. This is very bad news, mainly because Jira and Coba need to avoid taking too much damage to prevent Clef from becoming too threatening. Even if Cobalion tries to suicide itself to wear Chomp down with a +2 CC, it's only doing 58.2 - 68.5% before dying to EQ. This leaves Garchomp with enough health to still annoy Jirachi with recoil after Cobalion dies.

Aside from helping with Jira and Coba, Chomp provides a secondary check to Mega Gyara alongside Clef. It's also able to poison Lando-T, making it easier for Clef to take down. Clef is probably the best Pokemon in OU when it comes to outlasting its checks and counters. With Chomp's support and Clef's ability to threaten so much of the team, sweeping here is a very realistic possibility in the long term. Try to avoid spamming Thunder Wave too recklessly, as being Synchronized by a Mew switch in leaves you more vulnerable to being lucked in 1v1 situations. Play smart and this core will perform nicely.

Keldeo has a fun time with the team and the things dat can cockblock keldeo r latios which can get pursuit trapped by mega meta. Keldeo also stops potential mega gyarados sweeps with HP electric crippling any form of gyara. Talonflame is there to cripple mons with WoW since they don't like it and it also stops mew since it can roost off the tbolts while mew receives residual damage from LO and burn since it lacks recovery outside of the hw from jirachi. Mega Meta resists both jirachi's stabs and can pursuit trap it. Hammer Arm on Mega meta is standard stuff.

This team is basically built around the standard Clef/ Skarm / Chomp / Mega Lati backbone which blanket checks a lot of common threats in the metagame. Tangrowth is then added to the core to be your answer to Electric-types and Water-types while also providing you with a somewhat reliable physical wall. Plus, it is also an emergency check to Ice Beam-less Manaphy, which is decreasing in usage. The Alakazam set is used to be able to pressure Stall builds, which gets ruined by Knock Off and heavily pressured by Spikes from Skarmory. Since this team is built when Banded Hoopa-U was the shiny new toy around, this team lacks reliable answers to Specs Hoopa-U although Signal Beam on Alakazam can lure it.

Phantom Me

Banned deucer.

Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Hammer Arm
- Ice Punch

Love the team BTW,since I love stored power latias..Metagross walls most of the team. Also, most of the team is 0hkoed by its attacks.Ice Punch is there so that it can hit Latias, garchomp and tangrowth harder.Although it is walled by skarmory, and tangrowth carries HP fire and eq,I decided to add the niche rotom-heat. It destroys both of them and can give metagross volt switch so that i t doesn't suffer from t-wave by clefable. Also, this a good core in general, since rotom-heat deters burn and paralysis, cause metagross is absolutely shut down by status.

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 12 Atk / 244 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power
- Roost

Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 96 Def / 164 SpD
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Outside of Clefable, no 1 likes to switch in to Kyu-B. Roost gives it longevity to break the team down. Mega Scizor acts as a pivot for some wallbreaking and to take hits from alakazam. It also pressures mons like clef, zam, etc out.
252 SpA Life Orb Alakazam Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 164 SpD Mega Scizor: 149-177 (43.4 - 51.6%) -- 8.2% chance to 2HKO

Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Taunt
- Icy Wind

Houndoom @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Sucker Punch
Basically, I stuck two offensive threats that ravaged the team together and they'll probably smash it into pieces. Gengar obviously has the standard set with icy wind to fuck over chomp. Gengar can click his STABs to fuck over the team when chomp is gone along with taunt, but zam is annoying since it can revenge kill Gengar quite easily. This is where houndoom comes in, aside from fucking the rest of the team it can also lure in zam and OHKO the poor thing with sucker punch. Overall this core threatens the team a lot, but you need to do some creative pivoting/luring to murder zam.
