Welcome to my first ever RMT! This is a team that has served me extremely well in Battle Spot Doubles, helping me ladder to nearly 1650. It focuses on a Metagross and Tapu Lele core, using Psychic Terrain to make huge powerful moves (although it isn't crippled by lack of terrain!!)

The teambuilding process:

1522113366176.png

I started with these two Pokémon since this is what the team is centered around. Tapu Lele has amazing synergy with Metagross, since Tapu Lele sets Psychic Terrain and boosts Metagross's already-strong Zen Headbutt.

Landorus-Therian was added for obvious reasons, being one of the best Battle Spot Doubles Pokémon and a staple of any team.

I realized this team would operate a lot smoother with a Tailwind setter, so I chose Hydregion -- also because it provides coverage against Psychic-types, which my team was lacking so far.

1522113363902.png

I needed a Fire-type on this team, so I added Heatran. In addition to burning the competition, it can also hurt Fairies and use Earth Power to deal with those Electric-types.

1522113363902.png

After testing a bit, I noticed that Hydregion was an awful Tailwind setter, having so many weaknesses, and a 4x weakness to Tapu Lele. Zapdos is a lot more reliable, plus it gives me an Electric-type to deal with Water- or Flying-types.

We lost our Dark-type, so I replaced Heatran with Incineroar to provide Fire- and Dark-type at the same time. Incineroar's new ability, Intimidate, is very useful and makes Incineroar a lot more viable than before. Plus, Heatran isn't the best Pokémon (4x Ground weakness) to use, so Intimiroar is a much better option.

The final Pokémon on the team was chosen to be Gastrodon. It has a great ability, Storm Drain, that can absorb Water-type attacks (even Z-Moves!) to protect Landorus and Incineroar. Ice Beam is a secondary choice to deal with those weak to Ice in the event of Metagross being fainted/benched.

THE TEAM
1522113350842.png
Metagross-Mega @ Metagrossite
Ability: Tough Claws
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Zen Headbutt
- Protect
- Ice Punch
One of the stars of the team. When paired with Tapu Lele, its Zen Headbutts are extremely powerful and can OHKO even Pokémon that aren't weak to Psychic. Iron Head is a great tool for Mimikyu, Tapu Lele, Ribombee, etc., and Ice Punch is capable of easily OHKO'ing Landorus-T.

[-1 252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Landorus-Therian: 180-212 (109.7 - 129.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO]

Zen Headbutt is a killer move that can even OHKO Pokémon that it isn't super-effective against.

[252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko in Psychic Terrain: 165-195 (113.7 - 134.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO]
[252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kangaskhan-Mega in Psychic Terrain: 145-172 (80.5 - 95.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO]

Iron Head can make a huge dent in Mega TTar and Fairy-types such as opposing Tapu Lele and Mimikyu.

[252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tapu Lele: 240-284 (165.5 - 195.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO]
[252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tyranitar-Mega: 134-162 (76.5 - 92.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO]

Metagross-Mega boasts a whopping 145 base Attack, which is only boosted by its STAB attacks, Tough Claws, and Psychic Terrain (in the case of Zen Headbutt). It suffers greatly from Intimidate unfortunately, but luckily it has Clear Body when it doesn't Mega evolve.

The EVs I chose, naturally, give it max Attack and Speed to allow outspeeding against other Pokemon.

1522113357220.png
Tapu Lele @ Psychium Z
Ability: Psychic Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Taunt
- Psychic
- Protect
The second star of the team. Setting Psychic Terrain makes it very powerful, and it can Taunt Tailwind/Trick Room setters. Its Z-Move is very powerful in Psychic Terrain, so its best to use it whenever the terrain is out, and not save it for later thanks to Tapu Lele's fragility.

Psychic is capable of sweeping teams by itself, boosted by Psychic Terrain. It's not nearly as strong without the Terrain, but definitely still manageable.

[252+ SpA Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Kangaskhan-Mega in Psychic Terrain: 127-150 (70.5 - 83.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO]
252+ SpA Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Koko in Psychic Terrain: 160-189 (110.3 - 130.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

If it looks tough, it can upgrade to Z-Psychic (Shattered Psyche) and poke holes in the offending team.

The EVs I choose make Tapu Lele outspeed many things so it can lay down a Psychic or Taunt, and also maximum power from its special moves.

1522113391296.png
Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Slide
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Superpower
Landorus-T is one of the best Pokémon in the BSD metagame (recently replaced with Intimiroar) that has relatively few weaknesses. Rock Slide is an amazing move to use against Flying- or Fire-types (Mega Charizard Y, anyone?) and one of the best moves to be locked into with Choice Scarf since it can spam flinches potentionally. Earthquake is more risky to use because of Choice Scarf - it would be bad if Zapdos was killed and the only partner left was Metagross. Superpower is not too good to use with Choice Scarf either, because of the Atk and Def drops. Those two moves are better to use if Landorus-T is going to be switched out anyways.

The EVs give maximum speed, Choice-scarf boosted, and also maximum attack power.

I find it hard to use Landorus-T with Choice Scarf, so any usage tips would be appreciated. :)

1522113466722.png
Zapdos @ Wiki Berry
Ability: Pressure
252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 4 SpDef
Bold Nature
- Heat Wave
- Tailwind
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
Our Tailwind setter! Zapdos boasts good bulk and sets a good Tailwind. Heat Wave takes Metagross and Aegislash users by surprise, and Thunderbolt fries Water-types. Roost is used if there's a free turn, like Protect on the opponent's side.

I chose the EVs to give maximum power from Thunderbolt/Heat Wave, and maximum HP to keep it alive as long as it can to get a Tailwind up.

1522113484640.png
Incineroar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Fake Out
-Low Kick
-Flare Blitz
-Knock Off
This Pokémon came straight from heaven with Intimidate, and is now one of the best Pokémon in BSD. Flare Blitz can one-shot most Pokémon, and Low Kick can deal with fat Pokémon (Snorlax). Knock Off gets rid of pesky Berries, and Fake Out is a little hard to use especially if Tapu Lele has been out recently.
The EVs I chose make its attacks as strong as possible, and also gives Incineroar max survival. The remaining were in Speed because
1522118635424.png
.
Gastrodon-East @ Mago Berry
Ability: Storm Drain
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 27 Spe
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Protect
A bit of a strange Pokémon to use, but I take advantage of Storm Drain to absorb Water-types attacks, especially on Choice Specs Muddy Water Tapu Fini. It can Earth Power those weak to Ground, and Scald powerfully and maybe inflict a burn. Ice Beam deals with Landorus-T if Metagross is benched/fainted.

The EVs, again, give max survival and also maximum power from its Special attacks.

Threatlist-

This team suffers a lot from Trick Room setters. Tapu Lele and Metagross are regular leads, so Tapu Lele can get a Taunt in and prevent that (unless Whimsicott!)

1522115912900.png
1522115964692.png
Wide Guard Aegi + Char Y spam is a nuisance, since this team has lots of multiple-hitting moves, being severely crippling. There isn't much a way to counter it, unless Lando-T can be out long enough to Rock Slide.

1522115867572.png
1522115888258.png
Belly Drum Snorlax + Trick Room Psych Up Mimikyu: This seems a bit of a silly threat, easy to take down. Why is it a problem, you ask? Since this team suffers from Trick Room, Snorlax always moves first (even before Gastrodon) and since its so bulky it sweeps with Return or Earthquake / High Horsepower. Mimikyu can easily set Trick Room and then Psych Up to spam Play Rough and kill the team as well. Getting a Taunt is easy enough, as long as I lead with Lele.

Earthquake is a big threat that hurts Metagross a lot. In my experience, he is capable of surviving but not by much.

Importable!

Conclusion
Thanks for taking the time to look at this team! Again, this team has served me extremely well throughout my battling career. I've done shy of 70 battles in BSD, with a roughly 60% win percentage. Please ignore the "attachments", I don't know why they're there. :3
