The CAP Metagame Community Create-A-Team
abbreviated CAPMCCAT
Since we don't have a CAP Project underway, let's try something similar. The goal of this project is to create a competitively viable team as a community, much like a normal CAP project. In the first round, participants will submit a Pokemon and a set. After the submission stage, we will vote on which Pokemon we want to build the team around. Each round thereafter will consist of a submission stage where we will submit another Pokemon to support the team and another voting stage. After six rounds, we will hopefully have a competitively viable team!

EDIT: One round of submission and voting stages will elapse over 1 week each if participation is adequate.

Rules:
1. Don't post gimmicky/unviable sets. That being said, we encourage creativity!
2. When submitting a Pokemon and set, post an importable and a few sentences why we should build around/vote for your submission.
3. When voting, vote for one Pokemon and set only.
4. We encourage discussion among submissions, but when refuting a set, please back your dissent with adequate reasoning.
5. Please do not submit during the voting stage or vote during the submission stage.

You may begin submissions for Round 1! Remember to post an importable of the Pokemon and set with a description of it.

Neat idea.

Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Earth Power

So, Volcanion was introduced very recently, and a lot of CAP people (Myself included a while ago before it was released) immediately felt underwhelmed when Volkraken was already around. However, when OU gave such high praises for it, and made this set, I tried it out and it, to me, is basically a better Specs Volkraken. Here's why:

With Specs, its power is enormous, and while Analytic makes Volkraken pants-poopingly powerful, it's kinda... overkill. Volkraken trades Analytic for Water Absorb, making it extremely good at absorbing Water-attacks and getting some much appreciated recovery.

Its bulk is more impressive, and that allows for more hit-taking. The thing can take a few hits.

Steam Eruption is very much comparable to Volkraken's Scald in terms of damage output. It does about the same damage as Analytic Scald, except it's always that powerful and always gonna threaten burn.

But yeah, Volcanion's a beast and very comparable to Volkraken, but has some distinct advantages, including a much better STAB, the need for only one STAB water move, said STAB water move crippling checks often, a better ability, better defensive stats, and so on. Thats just for this set by the way.

Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Encore

I'll just put some bullet points for now, might make this a bit more presentable later
  • Blazing base 150 Speed stat makes it the fastest relevant unboosted threat in the metagame, also puts it ahead of scarfers like Timid Mollux.
  • Massive base 175 SpA, Psychic is a pretty nice attacking type in this metagame, and bulky stuff like AV Colossoil will be taking over half from Focus Blast.
  • Encore has a ton of utility, allowing it to mess with various defensive/utility threats as well as play around Sucker Punch users to an extent.
  • Underrated mon for sure, gets less usage than top-tier CAP threat Eelektross.
  • Building offensive teams is fun!
Mega Alakazam has the tools it needs for success, but I've yet to see a highly successful team utilizing it in this metagame. I think we could do that here if we put our minds together.

Take Azelfie

More flags more fun
Glad to see this approved :3

Voodoom @ Life Orb
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Close Combat
- Psychic
- Taunt / Vacuum Wave / Baton Pass

Voodoom is very cool and when paired into the proper core can work efficiently. Mainly to be paired with stuff that can take advantage of Fairy-types and special walls being gone. If we decide to stroll with Baton Pass we can put something that sets up on Fairy-types like Cawmadore or Scizor. It's also a good Thunder Wave answer and with Baton Pass can even carry that boost to another partner. Taunt and Vacuum Wave are probably better in most occasions since it is able to stop Navi from setting up CM or revenge kill Scylant or Strategems.

Anti-Meta Right Heah:

Togekiss @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 224 HP / 220 SpA / 64 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Air Slash
- Roost
- Flamethrower

Bullet Points Summary:
  • A Lure Togekiss set that can threaten many of the metagame's major threats.
  • Dazzling Gleam is STAB and OHKO's Tomohawk and Cyclohm while 2HKO'ing AV Colossoil.
  • Air Slash is another STAB and with Serene Grace has a 60% flinch chance. It can OHKO Pyroak after Stealth Rock damage.
  • It's resistances to many common attacks and immunities to Ground and Dragon give Togekiss many chances to use Roost to recover HP and continue using strong LO boosted attacks.
  • Its usual checks of Cawmodore, Ferrothorn, and Scizor are all OHKO'd with Flamethrower. Togekiss has enough bulk to survive unboosted Bullet Punces from either Scizor or Cawmodore. Flamethrower is selected over Fire Blast due to its reliable KOs, although Fire Blast can OHKO Mega Metagross.
  • 224 HP EVs puts Togekiss at 367 HP, reducing Stealth Rock damage by 1 vs. 369 or 368 HP.
  • 64 Speed EVs Allows Togekiss to outrun standard defensive Rotom-Wash, which it can 2HKO with Dazzling Gleam.

Togekiss is goodmons we should use it guys.

If I may make my own submission:

Talonflame
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Acrobatics
- Roost
- Taunt

This set works particularly well in CAP, as it stallbreaks many stall threats in the meta, including Chansey, Mega Sableye, Clefable, Pyroak, Sylveon, Tomohawk, Amoonguss (if you want to include it), Ferrothorn, Gliscor, Skarmory, non-Stone Edge Heatran, and non-Stone Edge Hippowdon. It also checks many offensive Pokemon: Mega Charizard Y can't break past it even in Sun, standard Colossoil can't Sucker Punch it, hit with boosted Knock Off, or hit it with Earthquake unless it uses Roost, Latios can't beat Talonflame if it gets a couple of Bulk Ups beforehand, AV Tornadus-T can't break past it (which means this set is really good) and Mollux can't break past it.

The only downside is that it needs a couple of boosts to start hitting with good damage, but it can be easy to get a few Bulk Up boosts. If only Bulk Up and Taunt were Flying-type...

Also, I'd like to comment on Exclaimer's set. I'd replace HP Ice with Earth Power, as Earth Power allows Volcanion to hit the slew of Water-type checks in the meta (including itself). HP Ice is nice but doesn't hit as many targets as it does in OU.

(M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Shadow Strike
- Meteor Mash
- Defog

This Allows You to take away Hazards For Sweeping Pokémon that might cripple/kill said pokemon, uturn is for colosoil mainly although can be used for grass wall such a venusuar and just chip damamage in general, meteor mash is for coverage against threats like spdef sylveon, scyalnt, and threatening rock types, such as stratagem, crucibelle, and diance.

Crucibelle @ Crucibellite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Gunk Shot
- U-Turn
- Wood Hammer

Mega Crucibelle can threaten teams with high powered STAB attacks and handy Grass coverage in Wood Hammer as well as its ability to gain momentum with U-Turn. Crucibelle's solid speed tier allows it to outspeed a lot of common Pokemon such as Lati@s, Gengar, Keldeo, Serperior, Diancie etc. Also has decent longevity with good Special Defence and, thanks to Magic Guard, can switch in multiple times and not worry about hazard damage. With proper team support Crucibelle can steam-roll through teams with ease when it actually hits

Crucibelle is the most recent CAP created by the project and is also the first one to get a Mega Evolution so some people may not know how to build around it effectively. I'm sure together we'll all be able to make something great and get those Stone Edge Mega Crucibelles off the ladder!
