Overview
########
  • Boomburst is cool
  • Boosting move in Nasty Plot and powers up Boomburst to amazing levels
  • dies to everything unfortunately
  • Chatter is a nice utility move with confusion and can provide many set up oportunities
  • is burd

Substitute Attacker
########
name: Substitute Attacker
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Boomburst
move 3: Chatter
move 4: Encore / Nasty Plot
ability: Keen Eye
item: Life Orb / Leftovers
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
  • Substitute takes advantage of Chatter's confusion chance and bolsters Chatot's longetivity.
  • Chatter is utility STAB that can confuse opposing pokemon and allows chatot to set up a substitute or nasty plot boost a tad bit easier
  • Boomburst is a good STAB and can 2HKO most of the tier that aren't dedicated special walls. it can break physical walls like alomomola 1 on 1.
  • Like substitute, encore allows for set-up opportunities against hazard leads early game and set up sweepers mid game
  • Nasty plot to boost Boomburst and works well in conjunction with Substitute

Set Details
========
  • EVs and nature maximize offensive stats
  • LO is for power and maximizes chatot's offensive capabilities
  • Leftovers is passive recovery that helps with Substitute

Usage Tips
========
  • spam boomburst
  • Use chatter to find an opportunity to set up an substitute
  • Same with Encore when you're up against something that sets up hazards or boosts
  • sub / chatter is annoying and can let you set up
  • try to use early to mid game to punch holes, since chatot isn't effective in the fast paced late game due to rkers and scarfers

Team Options
========
  • sticky web support is appreciated
  • hazard support for chip damage when the opponent switches out due to encore/confusion from chatter
  • pokemon that can deal with opposing rock and steel types, such as delphox and moltres
  • late game cleaners like sharpedo

Other Options
=========
  • Heat Wave, though it's incompatible with Boomburst
  • U-turn for momentum.
  • Roost
  • Focus Sash
  • Hidden Powers

Checks & Counters
########
  • rkers can easily clip chatot's wings
  • Resists - registeel, escavalier, rhyperior, doublade
  • pretty much anything that can break through Chatot's massive 76 / 45 /42 defenses
  • dedicated special walls like slowking are to break

Overview
########
Chatot, once the butt of many jokes, has made quite a comeback in the XY RU metagame. Possessing Boomburst, a STAB 140 Base Power move that has absolutely no drawbacks, alongside its signature move, Chatter, which provides it with numerous opportunities to set up, Chatot can be devastating if played right. It also has access to a wonderful boosting move in Nasty Plot, which makes it extremely dangerous once it sets up. Unfortunately, it's not hard to clip this bird's wings; its defenses are horrendous, and it can't really stand up to any move before being KOed.

Substitute Attacker
########
name: Substitute Attacker
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Boomburst
move 3: Chatter
move 4: Encore / Nasty Plot
ability: Keen Eye
item: Life Orb / Leftovers
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
Chatter is a brilliant STAB attack that Chatot should use for its chance to confuse the opponent, giving Chatot a free turn to set up a Substitute. Boomburst is the main attacking move on this set, allowing this songbird to punch holes in most of the tier, helped by Boomburst going through Substitute. Boomburst can 2HKO most of the tier that isn't a dedicated special wall and can easily dismantle physical ones such as Alomomola one-on-one. Encore is another useful support option that Chatot can use early game against the likes of hazard setters, while forcing setup sweepers to use their boosting move repeatedly. Nasty Plot can be used over Encore if Chatot desires an extra power boost to its moves.

Set Details
========
The EV spread and nature maximize Chatot's offensive stats. Add Life Orb into the mix and you have one powerful Pokemon. Leftovers is also an option that provides Chatot with passive recovery and helps regain the self-inflicted damage caused by Substitute.

Usage Tips
========
Once Chatot is safely behind a Substitute, just focus on breaking the opposition with Boomburst. Try to use Chatter to provide Chatot opportunities to set up a Substitute; the same principle applies to Encore, except Chatot should use it when it's up against a Pokemon that is trying to set up entry hazards or set up early-gameor when it's also upagainst setup sweepers taking advantage of Chatot's abysmal bulk. Chatot can also try to use Substitute and Chatter repeatedly to rack up chip damage on the opponent. Bring Chatot into the match early-to-mid-game since Chatot becomes deadweight in the fast paced late-game due to Choice Scarf users and revenge killers.

Team Options
========
Chatot appreciates Sticky Web support so that it can offset its mediocre Speed. Try to pair Chatot with Pokemon that are able to set up entry hazards; the chip damage racks up on the opposition because of the sheer amount of switches Chatot causes due to Encore and confusion; this is especially true with Toxic Spikes. Delphox and Moltres pair well with Chatot, as they can easily decimate opposing Rock- and Steel-types. Late game cleaners, like Sharpedo, are also useful since they can pick off whatever is left of the team after Chatot goes down.

Other Options
########
Chatot gets access to Heat Wave, which gives it a way to inflict damage on Steel-types, but it's incompatible with Boomburst, Chatot's biggest niche. Chatot can also offer momentum with U-turn, but it can't find enough room to run it. Roost allows Chatot to heal itself, but Chatot's main moves are more useful. A Focus Sash in tandem with Nasty Plot can be used as a surefire way to get Chatot to set up, but it's usually better to rely on Substitute. Chatot can also run Hidden Power Grass to bypass Rock-types, though, once again, it's fairly weak and is generally outclassed by Chatot's other moves.

Checks & Counters
########
**Revenge Killers**: Revenge killers can easily outspeed and KO Chatot before it can do anything. Examples include Jolteon, Delphox, Choice Scarf Rotom-C, and Heliolisk.

**Rock- and Steel-types**: Registeel, Escavalier, Rhyperior, and Doublade take pitiful amounts of damage from both of Chatot's STAB moves and can threaten it to switch out.

**Special Walls**: Chatot struggles to break some dedicated special walls such as Slowking, which has a high chance of KOing it with Scald.

**Damage Dealing Moves**: Almost anything that can break through Chatot's pitiful 76 / 45 / 42 defenses can KO it.

I know this is just a WIP and I'm not yelling at you lol but Heat Wave shouldn't be in OO because it's incompatible with Boomburst and without Boomburst, there's no reason to use Chatot at all. Leftovers should be slashed so it's item can actually come to use when it runs Substitute. HP Grass should be somewhere on there to hit Rhyperior and HP Ground to hit Doublade. Also, Life Orb should get a mention in Set Details at least.

I think a Choice Scarf set is viable on Chatot to quickly hit powerful Boombursts and U-turn out on a predicted Ghost-, Rock-, or Steel-type switch-in. It's basically like a faster Choice Specs Swellow without Scrappy.

252 SpA Chatot Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Alomomola: 339-399 (63.4 - 74.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Swellow Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Alomomola: 357-420 (66.8 - 78.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Life orb should probably be the main option for the item, probably Life Orb / Leftovers, and move Focus sash to OO (NP is only a slash)

Do that and this is QC approved 1/3

Ty llama, made changes
Well, you didn't make the changes very well. You still mention Focus Sash in set itself (its still the first slash come on now...), Set Details, and Team Options.

"Things that like Boomburst" is a dumb line since... what does exactly like Boomburst? I'm not sure if you're going to expand on that by saying what, but there is nothing to gain from that line. Other than that and the now irrelevant sash mention the only other teammate you mention is something to set up webs. You're going to have to expand upon the team options before I approve this, since right now you mention almost nothing to help Chatot.

Maybe it's just me, but I also feel like a large portion of the skeleton is also still referring to Nasty Plot being the main option when things have changed. Also, in C&C, you currently don't mention a single specific Pokemon. You need to list out the resists, priority Pokemon (especially since priority isn't exactly common rn), revenge killers, etc.

I'll check this again once you add more details to your skeleton. It is just feels way too empty right now to inform the reader of enough.

I made the changes on my phone, so I missed a ton of stuff. I'll flesh this out a lot more for sure as soon as I can! I think I'll just rewrite it because I seem to refer to NP waaay too much like you said.

Worldtour, I fleshed this out a bit more and added mentions of Pokemon and rewrote the whole thing so i don't ramble about NP and sash !

Banned deucer.
Lol..in the very last c&c you call chatots defenses massive. Absolutely the opposite!
**Damage Dealing Moves**: Pretty much anything that can break through Chatot's massive 76 / 45 /42 defenses can KO it.
