So, when in doubt, find a flying Parthenon to host a battle, then make haul my reffing gear ALL the way up here...at least the frequent flyer miles I had with the skydiving club allowed me to do so for free...though really, you could have told me about the sun embodiment that tried to cook me upon entry...twice...

Without any further delays:

Brinkley! Carria!

Go forth and defeat my enemies! And by my enemies, I mean everyone except the sun god!

And now! BRINKLEY!

FAINT ATTACK INTO THUNDER FANG!(C-c-c-combo) on The balloon! Then STONE EDGE! for massive destruction!

And now! Carria!

TOXIC the little blue elephant and then STEEL WING it, and then TOXIC The balloon!

AWWW YEEEAAAH!

It's about to get serious!

Oh, jeez, it's like counterpicks, the match...

Hindenburg, start off by using Hypnosis on Carria. Maybe with that, we won't all get poisoned. Next, Will-o-wisp targeting Brinkley, to make it burn in balloon Hell. Oh, wait, should I be saying that out loud...? Sorry, Hyperion! Finally, Protect against Stone Edge, so you don't...well...pop.

Richter, UNLEASH YOUR POWER! Rollout x3! Obliterate that vulture, because Rollout doesn't take consecutive use penalties!

Hindenburg - Hypnosis (Carria) - Will-o-wisp (Brinkley) - Protect

Richter - Rollin' - Rollin' - Rollin' (Carria)

Well, let's get this underway! Because it's a doubles and there's a ton of actions to go through, the following will be less prose-heavy. Still interesting, though...hopefully...well whatever, just read it...

Taking the speed advantage, Brinkley went about disappearing completely, leaving everyone stunned, and a little confused! After followed Hindenburg, who after some staring with its beady little eyes, and methodical balloon swaying, managed to land a Hypnosis on Carria powerful enough to inflict a Heavy Sleep (2 turns). So, while Carria snoozes away and Brinkley is apparently invisible (or tried to Dig), Richter the Phanpy begins spinning about, hitting Carria for reasonably weak damage. However, it keeps going, so it certainly isn't the last time we'll see Rollout hit its mark, I'm guessing. Suddenly, Brinkley reappeared behind Hindenburg, pincers sparking as he performed Thunder Fang from the shadows! Wow, balloons, despite their penchant for static cling, clearly don't like being bit...or electrocuted!

Both of Woobly's Pokemon are down for action-long naps, it seems, but while they wait around, XVI's team springs into action once more! Hindenburg conjures up the bright blue flame of a Will-o-wisp, scorching Brinkley with its supernatural heat. Meanwhile, Richter hasn't stopped spinning, and rams into Carria again! The added speed tacked on quite a bit of damage, and he's still rolling!

Finally done with their beauty sleep (do ants get ANYTHING beauty sleep?), both Brinkley and Carria summon a pair of deadly attacks. As Brinkley's Stone Edge and Carria's Toxic hurl towards Hindenburg, a magical green barrier Protects the balloon from any harm, even though the Stone Edge went critical! To add insult to injury, and movespam to more movespam, Richter bulldozes Carria with another Rollout! While it remains to be seen whether our little blue elephant will keep peeling out all over that baby vulture, we can only assume the answer lies in the phrase "why stop here?".

Let's keep this elephant rolling, guys! Richter, use Rollout twice more on Carria, hitting MAXIMUM (T)ROLLOUT, then shift your attention to Brinkley, and slam it with Bulldoze. Once its speed is lowered, it should be even easier to deal with. Hindenburg, start off by Disabling Carria's Toxic. Then, cripple Carria even more with Thunder Wave. Finish the round by attacking Brinkley with Hex. The resistance should mean nothing when coupled with the boost you get from the burn. I'd start the balloon overlord ritual, but I don't think Hyperion would enjoy all that malicious, evil balloon energy all up in his sanctuary.

Feeling as though it would be a good idea to copy her rival's barrier-weilding frenzy from last turn, and not wanting Richter to do more donuts on her face, Carria starts out this round with a Protect! Wisely, her teammate Brinkley, still wrestling with the loss of sheer power from his burn, decides to switch on a frantic Hustle and use the haphazard attack patterns it introduces as a means to counteract the burn before launching a Stone Edge at Hindenburg, who clearly didn't appreciate how sharp those rocks were! On the other side of the arena, both Hindenburg and Richter prepare attacks targeting Carria, unaware of her sneaky force field! Launching the strange wave of Disable and the furiously fast Rollout at the vulture, the duo was stunned when both simply bounced off, to no effect. None more than Richter, who lost all of the built up momentum in the blink of an eye!

Still twitching with anticipation, Brinkley set out once again to deliver an electrically-charged Thunder Fang straight into the rubber and ghostliness of Hinderburg! Already crackling with energy, Hindenburg in turn used the charge to fire out a Thunder Wave at Carria, hoping to stun the bird into standing still for Richter's Rollout! While the move did in fact connect, the speed was drastically lower than the previous attempts, and Carria shook it off without much trouble. Struggling against the paralyzing current, Carria disappeared for a moment, before appearing behind Hindenburg for a Faint Attack. Being the baby she is, Carria tugged violently on the poor balloon's stringy arms, punched it around, and dragged it unwillingly into a pillar, causing critical damage!

By this time, Brinkley was feeling quite ignored...no one had tried to pick a fight with the heavy metal ant since last turn, so to show his opponent's he was still a threat, he scurried around, picking up chunks of heavy marble debris scattered about the temple, which he used for an amazingly potent Stone Edge targeting the weakened and thoroughly abused Hinderburg! After being hit with rocks, electrocuted, bit, pecked, tugged on, and otherwise assaulted, Hindenburg was eager to have it all end, taking a large piece of a broken column, craggy side first, right in the face, popping instantly. This left Richter, enraged by the loss of his momentum and his comrade, to fight onward! Seeing the potential futility of gaining momentum, Richter decided to try to drop the speed of all those around him! Thinking heavy and rolling quickly, the little elephant Bulldozed Brinkley for abnormally heavy damage (he is an ant, after all), but when it came time to hit Carria, she easily took to the air to avoid the attack. Uncurling, Richter was suddenly struck from the air by another Faint Attack from Carria, whom had lost her original target to rapid and explosive decompression.

In Brinkley's hasty twitching, the continuous rubbing of his claws together somehow honed them counterbalancing the lose of accuracy from his rapid movement while simultaneously boosting his attack! Richter was having none of this, and began Rollout once again, this time targeting Brinkley! Since this is the third time the lonely pachyderm put some extra effort into rolling over Brinkley, hurting him ever so slightly worse than a regular Rollout! It was Carria's turn, apparently, to be ignored by everyone, and due to this newly found random free-time, she decided to Roost and recover a boatload of health.

Brinkley, sharp, shiny, and fidgeting claws primed, cut Richter deep with a Metal Claw, and with revenge from last action in mind, added a few extra strikes to turn the damage critical! Not wanting to waste momentum, even after enduring Brinkley's painful attack, Richter smashed into Brinkley again, with comprable force as last time despite the added speed! Silly Richter! And, no one cares about Carria, she's off being stunned by her paralysis!

Final actions roll around, and EVERYONE decides that if it wasn't broke the last couple of rounds, it has no means by which to be fixed...for example, Brinkley cut Richter again with Metal Claw, who in turn retaliated with an even faster Rollout, neglecting Carria, who lands again, Roosting to fully recover her health. The ONLY thing of note is the sharpening of Brinkley's claws due to Metal Claw, but even that isn't particularly shocking after the RNG's channeling of a extremely loose slot machine...

Brinkley's wounds were starting to catch up with him. He wasn't feeling as crisp as before, and Richter was to blame, or so he calculated. So with the grace of a freight train with a sharpened cattle-catcher, Brinkley dove claw first into the Phanpy's side, causing a series of severe lacerations with Metal Claw. For his trouble, Brinkley was swiftly counterattacked by Richter's fourth Rollout in a row, and it was becoming quite apparent that the rolling speed of our intrepid elephant was quickly reaching its maximum! Carria, trying oh so very desperately to get a piece of the battle, disappeared from sight before appearing behind Richter with talons outstretched for a Faint Attack! Whether through an overdose of neglect-fueled frustration or because she managed to open up one of Brinkley's slice wounds, the attack had a critical effect on Richter!

Apparently not having the energy to think of a different tactic to try, Brinkley forced himself to deliver another devastating Metal Claw, at the cost of clearly raising its fatigue. Simple scratches would not stop Richter, though. He had tried, three time in fact, to reach this climax of Rollout's power, and no hyper metal ant was going to take this moment away from him. Reaching 88 MPH, Richter tore open a small hole in space-time, vanishing in a trail of flame before suddenly reappearing next to Brinkley, and running him over with a critical force that sent the ant ricocheting about the thick marble columns like a pinball. As the elephant wound down from his final epic burst of speed, Carria swooped down and met his pride with a Steel Wing. The paltry damage added to massive pain Richter was already in, but nothing would ruin this moment for him, not even...

METARU CRAW!!!

...well, I suppose that would ruin it for him. Seems one last, semi-inspiring, mostly-spammish Metal Claw (at Consecutive Move Level 5, where is your god now, ASB?) would seal the deal, and cause the brave speedster to fall over in a heap, resulting in total victory for Woobly Cabbage!

...but, it wouldn't be fair to the running joke I've been perpetuating and Cabbage had asked for in the last set of issued actions if I didn't go ahead and have Brinkley use the last of his energy to use Dig, now would it? On his fourth action of the round, Brinkley scraped his way through the beautiful stone floor, finding only clouds, not quite fluffy enough to support a metal ant. We mourn his loss. He still gets KO counters, and nothing ever dies in Pokemon, so I'm sure once we scoop what's left of him into a vial and take it to the hospital, he'll be good as new.
