Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 24 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Will-O-Wisp

Despite failing last round, Gardevoir makes a solid teammate for Serperior. Serperior has trouble against the common VenuTran, which Gardevoir can handle. It's also a good wallbreaker, which means Serperior has a bigger chance of sweeping after several mons have been weakened. I chose Will-O-Wisp as the last move because it can handle common switchins, such as Mega Metagross, Scizor and Jirachi.

Banned deucer.

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Earthquake
- Healing Wish
- Thunderbolt
- Draco Meteor

first and foremost, we need counters gone. That means heatran, skarm, charizard (no benu cuz only 4 moves :c venu isnt staying in regardless tho). Latias not only beats all of these mons; it also lures the important ones (heatran, skarm). I posted this set in the creative thread with more detail, but basic idea is "oh latias has stabs, roost/hwish, defog. Lemme switch in heatran to take this draco. Okay lemme set rocks" bam eq. "Latias has eq! It must not have any other coverage moves then" bam tbolt.

Serperior isn't great at stickin around, especially with lo. However, it's such an immediately dangerous mon that it would be a pity to not be able to threaten early game. Yay healing wish! Not only will this further help wear down serp's checks (if serp is at low health, those checks arent as vital to keep healthy, right? Jk healing wish), and latias lures lots anyway.

Venutran is a thing i guess? Latias destroys because venusaur switches into heatran when latias is out. The tricks

The moves are p flexible. Serp already has hp fire so meh. Psyshock can go somewhere, but meh.

Latios doesnt work well necause eq is pretty much standard lol

Infinity (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Defog

Cool lure for Heatran, which Serperior really dislikes. Latios also provides Defog support to stop Serperior from getting worn down fast and deals with fast Electric-types such as Mega Manectric and Thundurus lacking Knock Off and Jolteon. It also deals with bulky Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur and Roserade Serperior can't blow back. In turn, Serperior provides wallbreaking power necessary to blow back the likes of Azumarill, Clefable, Mega Gardevoir, Bisharp, and Tyranitar, and cripple the likes of Mega Altaria. Hidden Power Fire also beats Steel-types such as Skarmory, Jirachi, and Ferrothorn which check Latios pretty well. Oh and Glare cripples stuff like Talonflame and Tornadus-T on the switch so Latios can DROP A DRACO™ on them.

If Latios is chosen, checks to the likes of Weavile, Mega Altaria, Gyarados, Celebi, and Gengar are needed.

Ideally I'd have liked Serperior to have substitute instead of glare as it allows it to 50/50 Bisharp's sucker punch but this may be something we can talk about in the revision phase at the end of the teambuilding.

I was going back and forth between Terrakion, Tentacruel and Hawlucha for various reasons but I've made up my mind:

Hawlucha @ Liechi Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Atk / 244 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- High Jump Kick
- Substitute
- Swords Dance

Hawlucha:

1. Not a metagolem.
2. Fucks up VenuTran, something HP Fire Serperior is weak to.
3. Excellent lategame-cleaner, giving us a 2nd wincon.
4. Is phys, which Serperior isn't (duh).

Aside from Hawlucha sometimes choking on his own dick by missing a high jump kick, he is an excellent sweeper.

252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Mega Venusaur: 198-234 (54.3 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Hawlucha High Jump Kick vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 350-414 (90.9 - 107.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Heatran @ Leftovers
EVs: 248 HP / 192 SpD / 68 Spe
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Stone Edge
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

Serperior is weak to the likes of Talonflame, Tornadus-T, struggles to break down bulky grass types like M-Venusaur, also checks fast electric types like M-Manectric and bug types like Scizor and Volcarona pretty well. Each team should have a rocker anyway and this also forms 2/3 of an FWG Core, one of the basics in team building.

Mew @ Expert Belt
Ability: Synchronise
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe (creeps adamant Lando-T)
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam

Lure Mew! Heatran just loves switching into Mew to absorb a WoW and wall it to death. Try that with this set and you're killed by an EBelt Earth Power. That Serp's No.1 counter gone! Fire Blast takes out stuff like Skarm and Ferro, who can also be problems for Serp. SR is a good move to fit in building early on, and I see no reason to forgo it, so there it goes. Ice Beam also hits common leads such as Chomp and Lando-T, which helps Mew fit it's SR role better if it beats them, making ice beam better than STAB IMO.

Jirachi @ Choice Specs
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Healing Wish
- Moonblast
- Doom Desire
- Thunder

A hard to read spec with a massive cheese and surprise factor. Switch into something jirachi takes zero dmg from with its plethora of resists and launch a doom desire. Next up is a round of carefully switching from you and your oponent to something that at least is neutral to steel. Watch and enjoy the absolute horror damage on unsuspecting targets or get a free favorable switch due to him having to swap to something that resists steel.
Thunder is there for coverage and max cheese with 60% paralysis chance.
Moonblast does insane damage and has a very nice added effect boosted to 40% with serene grace.
Healing wish to support random carries

Stunfisk @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 228 HP / 100 Def / 136 SpA / 44 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Yawn
- Earth Power
- Discharge

Oh fuck. Please don't kill me. Hear me out pls :v

Serperior has quite a few enemies, that being Flying types such as Talonflame and Tornadus-T and fast Electrics with Fire and Ice coverage, such as Mega Manectric, Thundurus and Raikou. Fisky over here happens to be a Stealth Rocker that can act as a solid answer to both of those offensive groups. HP Ice from Specs Raikou, for example, fails to 2HKO this set. If anyone's asking, yes. Fisk is fat as hell. 109/84/99 bulk means he can eat up hits fairly well on either side of the attacking spectrum. Yawn can act like a pseudo phasing move. Hit the opponent up with a yawn, and they're more often than not likely forced to switch out fearing Sleep status. I will admit; it's a bit matchup reliant, not working on mons already status'd, but it's pretty effective when it works as you can see from the replay here. Yawn also means that the likes of Zapdos will have trouble trying to Defog while you're in play, and when it has to Roost, it's vulnerable to Earth Power.

Torn-T or the incredibly bad Banded Talonflame will more often that not go for U-Turn predicting your Stunfisk switchin, but they're risking a 30% Paralysis chance on contact thanks to Static.

Serperior does NOT like SpDef Talonflame, not even being able to 2HKO at +2 with Dragon Pulse after leftovers recovery. This Stunfisk set can beat it fairly easily, since it doesn't care if it's Taunted. Keep slapping Talonflame with Discharges until it has to Roost. That's when you go for the throat with Earth Power.

228 HP EVs give Stunfisk a Leftovers number of 416, maximizing recovery each turn. 44 SpDef allows Stunfisk to dodge a 2HKO a Specs Raikou's HP Ice and a M-Diancie's Moonblast. 136 SpA and Modest OHKOs Mega Manectric and Mega Diancie after Stealth Rocks, 2HKOs SpDef Talonflame with either STAB option and 2HKOs AV Raikou after Stealth Rock. The rest is invested in Defense to give Stunfisk better mixed bulk.

Defensive:

252 SpA Mega Diancie Moonblast vs. 228 HP / 44 SpD Stunfisk: 175-207 (42 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Choice Specs Raikou Hidden Power Ice vs. 228 HP / 44 SpD Stunfisk: 174-206 (41.8 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after leftovers recovery

252 SpA Raikou Hidden Power Ice vs. 228 HP / 44 SpD Stunfisk: 116-138 (27.8 - 33.1%) -- 85.8% chance to 4HKO after leftovers recovery

252 SpA Mega Manectric Hidden Power Ice vs. 228 HP / 44 SpD Stunfisk: 130-154 (31.2 - 37%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

+6 0 Atk Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 228 HP / 100 Def Stunfisk: 222-262 (53.3 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 Atk Talonflame Flare Blitz vs. 228 HP / 100 Def Stunfisk: 294-346 (70.6 - 83.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (dies to Discharge after recoil)

216 SpA Life Orb Tornadus-T Hurricane vs. 228 HP / 44 SpD Stunfisk: 97-114 (23.3 - 27.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Hidden Power Ice vs. 228 HP / 44 SpD Stunfisk: 161-190 (38.7 - 45.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Offensive:

136+ SpA Stunfisk Discharge vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 228-270 (76.2 - 90.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

136+ SpA Stunfisk Discharge vs. 132 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Tornadus-T: 134-162 (40.3 - 48.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

136+ SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 32 SpD Assault Vest Raikou: 134-162 (41.7 - 50.4%) -- 90.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

136+ SpA Stunfisk Discharge vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Talonflame: 168-200 (46.7 - 55.7%) -- 16% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

136+ SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Talonflame: 192-228 (53.4 - 63.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (on the roost)

136+ SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Manectric: 254-300 (90.3 - 106.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

136+ SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Diancie: 216-254 (89.6 - 105.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Banned deucer.
These suggestions are all too Mainstream for my likes.

Dugtrio @ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Earthquake
- Reversal
- Memento
- Stealth Rock

Dugtrio is a really cool partner to Serperior for a number of reasons. The number one reason obviously, is trapping Heatran with Arena Trap and quickly disposing of it with a STAB Earthquake. It also provides nice support for Serperior with Memento, making its job against offensive teams so much easier. Finally, it provides some much appreciated Stealth Rock support.

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 248 HP / 152 SpA / 108 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Fire Blast
- Roost
- Earthquake

Special Attacker Altaria-Mega with Earthquake lures Heatran, while Serperior helps against Talonflame with Glare. They also have the same counters, so one of our Pokemon can weaken a counter for the other.

Infinity (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Defog

Cool lure for Heatran, which Serperior really dislikes. Latios also provides Defog support to stop Serperior from getting worn down fast and deals with fast Electric-types such as Mega Manectric and Thundurus lacking Knock Off and Jolteon. Whats the use of 252 Att? 164 0hkos 252 Hp Heatran. You can use those Evs for more powerful Psyshocks and Dracos.

Yo everyone! Cool thread!

Let's rock with some funny and nonetheless very underrated and useful Mega: Mega Ampharos :pimp:

Mega Ampharos comes in most of the common threats for Serperior: Tornadus, Talon etc... The goal is to have an appropriate monster for these birds that can come in with no fear (mega Ampharos fears nothing from Tornadus T nor Talon, 2 very common mons at the moment). In order to increase his staying power ( to take on repeatedly on Tornadus u-turn and WoW Talon), I went with the rest/talk set:

Bettencourt (Ampharos) (F) @ Ampharosite
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dragon Pulse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

This Mega synergizes very well with Glare Serperior as Serperior can glare Tran/Talon and the such on the switch, so they can no longer be faster and taunt Ampharos. Once Tran is paralysed and let's say your Ampharos took a lot of damages, you are free to rest all day in front Tran.

Serperior also cleans grounded mons so Ampharos can spam tbolt.

Maximum Bulk to be a continous switch to mons that directly threaten Serperior.

Also it's a great status absorber.

That's it!

Of course some precise monsters remain threats for this core (such as Weavile or Mega Venusaur for example) but we can only give one partner! (otherwise I would have suggested some other team members)

Oh, and for those people saying Mega Manectric would fit better...who needs a classic dog when you can have this Diva:

Clone

Free Gliscor
is a Site Content Manager Alumnusis a Team Rater Alumnusis a Social Media Contributor Alumnusis a Forum Moderator Alumnusis a Community Contributor Alumnusis a Smogon Media Contributor Alumnus
Charizard @ charizardite x
Ability: blaze
Evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe (will optimized later)
Jolly nature
- Dragon Dance
- Flare blitz
- dragon claw
- roost

Zard x is one of the best partners for serperior because the two form a potent offensive duo that is very hard to wall outside of a select few mons, which can be easily handled by teammates. Outside of that, zard x provides defensive utility in that after it has megad, it can switch into common electric and first types lime raikou and zard y.

If this is chosen then something to break past tran and talonflame is a good idea.
