Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunder Wave / Pain Split
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch

As far as checking this core goes, Rotom-W does an ok job. It's able to switch into Scizor's attacks relatively easily, taking 30% max from U-Turn, and burn it, forcing it out and crippling it for the rest of the match. Terrakion is trickier, as Rotom-W is not going to like taking a STAB move from it. It can, however, force Terrakion out in a 1v1 scenario, threatening a potential OHKO with Hydro Pump after Stealth Rock or a crippling burn.
44 Atk Mega Scizor U-turn vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 76-91 (25 - 30%) -- 0.4% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 201-237 (66.3 - 78.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 168-198 (55.4 - 65.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Rotom-W Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Terrakion: 270-318 (83.5 - 98.4%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

As a teammate, Rotom-W helps out with a few different things. It's access to Volt Switch means that between it and Scizor, Terrakion will have plenty of opportunities to come in and punch holes. It's typing gives it some nice defensive prowess, giving the core a check to Talonflame and Heatran, while also providing a secondary check to Jirachi and Mega Metagross. Scizor and Rotom-W have a lot of great synergy together, as Scizor is able to Pursuit trap or set up on counters like Latios, Celebi, and Amoongus (Spore sucks). Rotom-W's ability to spread burns makes it really annoying and allows it to wear out the opposing team through constant Volt Switches, U-Turns, and status damage. Speaking of status, Thunder Wave is really nice to support Terrakion, who can outrun would-be checks like Latios.

Threat:
Lopunny @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Return
- Fake Out
- Power-Up Punch

Even with an Adamant Nature, Mega Lopunny outpaces both Pokemon and deals a huge amount of damage to them (OHKO on Terrakion, 2HKO on Mega Scizor). In fact, Mega Lopunny can beat Mega Scizor 1 v 1 as it takes very little from Bullet Punch and U-Turn while being able to boost with Power-Up Punch or deal more than half with High Jump Kick.

Partner:

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 40 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave

With this EV spread, Clefable manages to beat all variants of Mega Lopunny and avoids the 2HKO from Latios's Psyshock (HP Fire variants are threatening to the core). It also provides Speed control to fix this core's average Speed. It also takes on physical attackers (like Garchomp) easier.

Threat:

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake/Roost

Zard X can freely swiitch on Scizor's Bullet Punch, get a Dragon Dance and pressure the core immensely. OHKOing Scizor and has a well over 50% chance to KO Terrak after +1 with DClaw and guaranteed with EQ.

Partner:

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower

This is obviously not the Zard X counter, but can act as a one time check bringing Zard X down to Quick Attack or Bullet Punch's range. Azu also helps vs stuff like Lati twins and MSab as well as helping to break fat mons like Hippo, Lando more easily.

Adding another threat

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire
- Defog / Roost

Latios outpaces Terrakion and OHKOes with Psyshock. It also roasts Scizor with Hidden Power Fire.

How to take care of it? - Already mentioned Clefable

Using the new method of running this thread described here, we received around the same number of threats and partners as before in a shorter amount of time. I will continue using this new way of running the thread for a few more rounds before deciding whether I'll adopt it officially. The top partners for this week have been edited into the OP and included in hide tags below:
Rotom-W by Tressed - Rotom-W helps the core deal with annoying threats like Talonflame and provides a useful ground immunity to help versus the likes of Lando-T and Exca. Its ability to handle and potentially burn bulky Chomp is also appreciated by the core. Providing further free switch in opportunities with Volt Switch helps the core maintain and apply pressure. All in all, Rotom-W brings several beneficial things to the table here and synergizes excellently with Terrakion and Mega Scizor.

Azumarill by Mentalist Swag - Keldeo is another big problem for the core, and Azumarill makes for a nice check to the pony. It's also able to keep threats like Zard-X and Mega Gyara in check, which is crucial given their ability to sweep the core clean after setting up on Mega Scizor. With CB, Azumarill forms a nice wallbreaking duo alongside the core and provides something to heavily pressure problematic Pokemon for Terrakion, such as Hippowdon, Landorus-T, and Garchomp.

Clefable by Random Passerby - Clefable provides a well-rounded and solid response to a bunch of threats this core can be threatened or crippled by, such such as Chomp, HP Fire Latios, Rotom-W, Mega Manectric, Thund-I, Mega Sableye, certain Keldeo variants, and so on. Paralyzing faster threats and other threats like Mega Venu is also beneficial, as the core is relatively annoyed by this Pokemon.
Here is the new core:

Zygarde @ Lum Berry
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Extreme Speed / Stone Edge

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 16 HP / 8 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Will-O-Wisp / Taunt / Calm Mind

Seeing Zygarde as the Victim of the Week reminded me of a core I discussed here, and by -Magic- here. Since there have been no cores featuring Zygarde in this project so far, now seems like a good time to include one!

Although faced with competition from other DDers and Chomp, Zygarde has a few nice things going for itself. The main one is noticeably more bulk, as 108/121/95 defenses makes Zygarde very sturdy. This gives the dragon an easier time boosting against the likes of Slowbro, and cushions the damage taken from several forms of priority. To give you an example of its bulk, 4/0 Zygarde can't be killed by Ice Shard coming from Weavile (75.4 - 91.6%) and Mamo (82.6 - 97.2%). Other dragons like offensive Chomp can't claim the same. The bulk also helps against LO Exca, a common revenge killer to many DDers. Access to Extreme Speed also separates Zygarde from a few of its competitors, providing a way to bypass Brave Bird, Ice Shard, and pick some Pokemon off without having to lock yourself into Outrage once they're weakened enough. Stone Edge is also an option over Extreme Speed to kill the likes of Thund-I, Talon, and Torn-T without having to lock yourself into Outrage. This all aside, Zygarde still has troubles breaking through some things, and this is where Mega Gardevoir comes in.

Because of its lack of power, Zygarde can have a hard time breaking through things like Skarm, Ferro, Quagsire, and Unaware Clef. These Pokemon are typically found on fatter teams, which is the style Zygarde struggle most with. That's where Mega Gardevoir comes in. It's a good Pokemon to wall break for Zygarde and threaten the builds it has has a tough time with. The final move can be tailored towards your needs or preferences: Will-O-Wisp to lure and cripple troublesome steels like Skarm for Zygarde, Taunt to perform better against stall, or Calm Mind for total brute strength and wall breaking power. Overall, Mega Gardevoir's sheer firepower helps soften things up for Zygarde later on in the game when a chance to potentially sweep presents itself.

You may now begin discussing threats and partners. Make sure to specify whether the Pokemon you mention is a threat or a partner. This will run for 4 or 5 days depending on activity. We will continue following the same rules as the previous round, which can be read here for those unfamiliar.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power Ice

Bronzong is labeled as a threat. Bronzong is capable of switching into Gardevoir multple times due to it's amazing bulk. Although it is somewhat hindered by Will-O-Wisp, but it is still a threat nonetheless. Gyro Ball is still a 2HKO. Hidden Power Ice is a most likely 3HKO while also taking hits from Zygarde. If your team has a fairy type you can take advantage of them and switch. Zygarde struggles not being able to use it's STAB Earthquake. Smart play with Bronzong can really trouble this core.

Relevant Calcs:

Zygarde:

252+ Atk Life Orb Zygarde Outrage vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 103-121 (30.4 - 35.7%) --guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252+ Atk Life Orb Zygarde Outrage vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 153-182 (45.2 - 53.8%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Bronzong Hidden Power Ice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Zygarde: 152-180 (42.4 - 50.2%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO

Gardevoir:

232 SpA Gardevoir Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 31-36 (9.1 - 10.6%) -- possibly the worst move ever

232 SpA Gardevoir Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 27-33 (7.9 - 9.7%) -- possibly the worst move ever

232 SpA Gardevoir Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 82-97 (24.2 - 28.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Bronzong Gyro Ball (112 BP) vs. 16 HP / 8 Def Gardevoir: 308-366 (109.6 - 130.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

First time posting on this thread so tell me if I need something else pls

Weavile as a Threat:

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off
- Low Kick

Weavile isn't the most reliable threat to this core if they both have full HP, but with even the tiniest bit of chip damage, it can absolutely destroy them.

252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Ice Shard vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Zygarde: 270-328 (75.4 - 91.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 16 HP / 8 Def Mega Gardevoir: 242-285 (86.1 - 101.4%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

If it runs Adamant, it needs even less chip damage (but who really runs Adamant Weavile?)
252+ Atk Life Orb Weavile Ice Shard vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Zygarde: 302-359 (84.3 - 100.2%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Life Orb Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 16 HP / 8 Def Mega Gardevoir: 265-312 (94.3 - 111%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

If Zygarde is unboosted, Weavile outspeeds it and.... well, it isn't pretty for the Zygarde player.
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Zygarde: 582-691 (162.5 - 193%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Ouch.

In order to handle Weavile, and break through some of the bulky mons that wall the core, Specs Keldeo is a great teammate for the core.

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
4 Def / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Icy Wind

Keldeo can switch in on anything Weavile does, even Knock Off (though it loses its specs) and retaliate with a 4x SE Secret Sword.

With Specs intact, it easily 2HKOs Quagsire, Physically Defensive Clefable, and Skarmory with Scald, and Ferrothorn has a chance to be OHKO'd with Secret Sword. Mega Scizor, also a threat to the core, gets 2HKO'd by everything except Icy Wind (unless it's really bulky but it can't really touch Keldeo anyway). It takes Hydro Pump to 2HKO SpDef Clefable, but it can happen, and if Clefable is SpDef and Unaware, that's a really funky set anyway so usually either Scald or boosted Zygarde can beat it without having to risk a Hydro miss.

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Scald vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 276-325 (70 - 82.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Scald vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Clefable: 211-249 (53.6 - 63.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Scald vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 261-307 (78.1 - 91.9%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Scald vs. 248 HP / 176 SpD Mega Scizor: 165-195 (48.1 - 56.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 84+ SpD Clefable: 244-288 (61.9 - 73%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Threat

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Iron Head
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Skarmory is a significant issue for this core, seeing as it can beat both members depending on their moves. Zygarde isn't going to be able to beat SpDef Skarm anytime soon, as it resists Outrage and is immune to Earthquake. Gardevoir is a bit trickier, as switching into Will-o-Wisp, Taunt, or Focus Blast with Rocks up can prove risky. However, Skarmory is can stomach its STABs fairly well and set up Spikes against it, limiting Gardevoir's switch ins, or just going for the kill with Iron Head. Against Zygarde, Skarmory isn't able to do much damage, but it can set up Spikes and Whirlwind it around, removing its boosts as it goes out.
+1 252+ Atk Zygarde Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Skarmory: 112-132 (33.5 - 39.5%) -- 22.5% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ Atk Zygarde Outrage vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Skarmory: 100-118 (29.9 - 35.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
232 SpA Mega Gardevoir Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Skarmory: 140-165 (41.9 - 49.4%) -- 24.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Partner

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Fire
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt

Garde + Zone is a somewhat old core that works fairly well together, as Gardevoir tends to struggle against defensive Steel types. Apart from the above Skarmory, Magnezone can also beat or heavily damage Mega Scizor, Jirachi, and Ferrothorn, which give tend to make one or both other members of this core struggle a bit. Zone also gives the core a Clefable check (paralyzed Gardevoir is next to useless) and a way of bringing either member onto the field through Volt Switch. It also helps that people tend to not run solid Electric immunities on offensive teams, so you'll always find opportunities to nuke people trying to get cute and switch their Lando-T into a Volt Switch, which only makes Zygarde's job easier.

Threat:
Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Hammer Arm
- Ice Punch

Mega Metagross outspeeds unboosted Zygarde and Mega Gardevoir while being able to OHKO them with Ice Punch and Meteor Mash respectively.

Partner

Scizor @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 SpD
Impish Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance
- Roost

With this spread, Scizor acts as a nice switch-in against Mega Metagross, Weavile and Azumarill (watch out for Waterfall!) which are very threatening to the core. It is also able to help defeat Mega Altaria, Bronzong and Klefki while removing Leftovers from Quagsire and Skarmory to help wear them down easier.

I forgot that I had a reservation post :U

Threat:

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off

Scizor isn't a perfect answer to this core, but it can still annoy it. While it dislikes being burnt by Will-O-Wisp by Gardevoir, it can switch in on anything else, and revenge kill it with Bullet Punch. Zygarde is a bit trickier, as Scizor has trouble switching in on it, because if Zygarde sets up on Scizor, it's 2HKO'd by Earthquake. However, if it does manage to switch in without Zygarde setting up on it, then it can set up quicker than Zygarde with Swords Dance, and has a good chance to 2HKO Zygarde with Bullet Punch after rocks and Life Orb recoil. Alternatively, you can take an Earthquake, use Knock Off on Zygarde to get good damage, and then revenge kill it with Bullet Punch.

Partner:

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Steel Wing

Talonflame can revenge kill most of the threats to this core, such as Weavile, Gengar, Mega Metagross, and Mega Scizor, be it with Flare Blitz or Brave Bird. Even Mega Diancie trembles in terror, as it is outsped by everyone's favorite flaming bird and KO'd by Steel Wing.

Threats:
1)
Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Icy Wind

Gengar outspeeds Mega Gardevoir and easily OHKOes it with either STAB. It also OHKOes Zygarde with Icy Wind and is immune to Extreme Speed.

2)
Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Swords Dance

Garchomp easily outspeeds and OHKOes both Pokemon with its STAB attacks if those Pokemon have a bit of prior damage (such as Stealth Rock).

3)
Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 248 HP / 136 Def / 96 SpD / 28 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Return
- Earthquake

DDD Altaria sets up all over Zygarde and can outspeed and OHKO both Pokemon at +1 with booted Returns.

Mangeton patches up a number of issues for this core. Firstly, it traps steels (namely Skarmory and Bronzong) and weakens or outright KOs them, allowing Zygarde and Gardevoir to go ham without the risk of being cockblocked by them, and also, unlike Magnezone, it is able to outpace and kill Weavile, who gives the core a pretty major headache in general, as well as being able to beat Talonflame in a 1v1 situation (or, if it is SpD, in most situations) so that it doesn't give you a headache.

Mega Diancie as a threat

Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Protect

After Mega Evolving, Mega Diancie outspeeds and has a strong possiblity to OHKO both members of the core. Against Zygarde prior to Mega Evolution, it is a 50 50 whether to protect on the Earthquake or Moonblast on the DD.

252 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 16 HP / 8 Def Gardevoir: 268-316 (95.3 - 112.4%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

4 SpA Mega Diancie Moonblast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Zygarde: 324-384 (90.5 - 107.2%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

A standard SpA spread is good too, but requires Stealth Rock to be up to have a chance to KO Gardevoir.

LO Torn as a partner

Tornadus-Therian @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 76 Atk / 180 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Hurricane
- Iron Tail
- U-turn / Knock Off
- Heat Wave

LO Torn the monster supports this core by adding some speed control for threats such as the aforementioned Mega Diancie as well as Gengar and Mega Metagross. Iron Tail nails Diancie and lures Clefable for Zygarde, which can be broken by Gardevoir but will rarely opt to stay in. U-turn provides momentum and allows Gardevoir to come out on common Torn-T switchins such as Rotom-Wash and whatnot. Knock Off is an option to weaken stuff in general to support the other two pokemon and is a more reliable way of dealing with Gengar. Heat Wave is here to nail Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn and Skarmory to pave the way for Gardevoir.

Rotom-W

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

This washing machine is so splashable that you can use it almost everywhere as a blancket check to many threats at once, especially if they are physical attackers screwed by WoW.

Talonflame is sent into oblivion by Hydro Pump. The Smogon bird can only stack damage on the washing machine.
Mega Scizor, Scizor, Garchomp, Skarmory, Bronzong, Mega Metagross, Mega Altaria are ruined by WoW.
Keldeo is hit hard by the STAB Volt Switch.
Tornadus-T is screwed by WoW, while Pain Split keeps alive the washing machine.
Mega Diancie is hit very hard by Hydro Pump if Rotom-W is able to tank a STAB Moonblast.

===> beware the almighty washing machine which is able to check many threats at once thanks to the utility of Will o' Wisp.

Defensively speaking, it also offers a slow Volt Switch to guarantee safe switch-ins to Zygarde and Gardevoir and WoW which can provide useful softened switch-ins.

Banned deucer.
Top partners are Keldeo by Monkey Smurf, Magneton by gamer boy, and Tornadus-T by bludz. Magneton was given the nudge over Magnezone mainly because it's faster than Weavile, which is a huge advantage given how threatened this core is by its STABs. Otherwise, they are both good choices alongside Zygarde and Mega Gardevoir.

Time for a new core! We will continue following the same rules as the previous round, which can be read here for those unfamiliar.

Tangrowth @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 228 Def / 32 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Slowking @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Slack Off
- Calm Mind

We haven't done Slowking in either thread thus far, so here is a classic Regenerator core with solid defensive synergy featuring the little guy. Physically defensive Tangrowth has a few notable advantages over sets with AV, namely Sleep Powder and the ability to stomach hits from physical attackers like Exca, Mega Lop, and Azu more comfortably. If you've checked out p2's posts here and here, you'll see just how bulky this Tang really is! This is particularly useful because running Slowking over Slowbro means you give up on using a Pokemon with higher physical defense to handle the previously mentioned threats. Moving on, when lacking AV, Tang is incapable of taking hits from threats like Keld and Mega Diancie as effectively. This is where Slowking comes in, making use of its higher special defense to help Tang deal with those special hits it's unable to take well without AV. Its ability to check Torn-T, Tran, and 1v1 threats like CM Clef is also appreciated by Tang. In exchange, Tang helps Slowking by providing a response to several troublesome threats, such as Mega Gyara, Loom, and Tar. HP Fire is given preference here over other options like EQ and HP Ice to give Pokemon like Mega Sciz and Ferro fewer opportunities to threaten this core.

You may now begin discussing threats and partners. Make sure to specify whether the Pokemon you mention is a threat or a partner. This will run for 4 or 5 days depending on activity. We will continue following the same rules as the previous round, which can be read here for those unfamiliar.

Threat:
Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- whatever

Gengar outspeeds and OHKOes both members with its STABs after Stealth Rock.

Partner:

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Crunch

Tyranitar gives the core a much-needed Pursuit trapper to get rid of Gengar and Hoopa which terrorises the core, It also allows the user to have a way to check strong attackers like Mega Pinsir, Kyurem-B, Mega Charizard-Y and Volcarona.

Hoopa-Unbound @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magician
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt

Hey look a fat core with no Hoopa-U switch ins. Shocker. Hoopa-U can come in on any move other than Sleep Powder or Knock Off (or Scald I guess), click Dark Pulse, and put a hole in this pair.

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth: 393-463 (97.2 - 114.6%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 440-522 (111.6 - 132.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Partner

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm / Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic

Utility Heatran makes for a good partner to this core. It is able to put a stop to some annoying stuff like Mega Scizor, Mega Venusaur, Latios, Mega Sableye, Serperior, and Mew. It also provides Stealth Rock support and some additional forms of residual damage in Toxic, Magma Storm, and / or Lava Plume. In return, Slowking can take on Water-types like Keldeo and Starmie, while Tangrowth can tackle Fighting-types, Ground-types, and other physical threats.
With Heatran, the core remains vulnerable to a couple things. Mega Heracross (and regular Heracross for that matter) is a significant issue, as only Heatran can outrun it and it can easily demolish the whole core with its STAB attacks alone. Heatran also does nothing to stop Hoopa-U, who still stomps the trio if given an inch of leeway. Lastly, Electric types, notably Mega Manectric, Raikou, and Thundurus give this core a tough time, as BoltBeam coverage is able to threaten Slowking and Tangrowth while Heatran can't take repeated Volt Switches from the former two or Focus Blasts from the latter.

Threat
: Kyurem-B (Mixed wallbreaker set)

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 20 Atk / 252 SpA / 236 Spe
Mild Nature
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Fusion Bolt
- Roost

Simple but effective: Ice Beam OHKOes that Tangrowth which doesn't run AV; be wary of annoying Sleep Powders, but shaby accuracy may save your dragon from hax.
Fusion Bolt comfortably 2HKOes Slowking. Slowking can only trying to PP stall with Recover, so keep in mind that you have Roost to preserve Fusion Bolt's PP.
Kyurem-B outspeeds them both, so it can revenge kill Slowking at the very least.

20 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-B Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Slowking: 250-296 (63.6 - 75.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Be wary of Steel/Fighting priority (i.e. Scizor, Lucario) when using Kyurem-B because it can deal serious damage to it despite its good numerical bulk.

Threat: Mega Manectric

Manectric @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Hidden Power Ice

In its Mega form, Manectric outspeeds and OHKOes Tangrowth with Overheat, while 2HKOing unboosted Slowking taking over 50% damage (burn included) in the process.
Important thing: a +1 SpD Slowking with Leftovers can tank 2 Thunderbolts 75% of the time and can try to stall with Recover. The only way Manectric can overpower Slowking is to rely on Thunder with the aid of Politoed to set up the rain.

252 SpA Mega Manectric Overheat vs. 248 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth: 476-562 (118.1 - 139.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Mega Manectric Thunderbolt vs. +1 248 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 186-222 (47.3 - 56.4%) -- 25% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Mega Manectric Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 278-330 (70.7 - 83.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Mega Manectric Thunder vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 342-404 (87 - 102.7%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Mega Manectric Thunder vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 342-404 (87 - 102.7%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock (not even guaranteed !!!)

(Slowking is so bulky with a defensive spread it isn't even funny...)

Manectric has to be wary of bulky pokemons, mainly Grass (after SpA drop from a Overheat), Ground, Dragons and bulky pokemons in general that don't receive supereffective damage from it normally. Manectric hasn't the power to OHKO bulky pokemon from full HP due to its middling offensive prowess (bar monsters 4x weak to its moves).

Before I start I just have to say that Tangrowth+Slowking is godly

Threat

Rotom-Frost @ Choice Scarf / Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Blizzard
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Trick / Hidden Power [Ground] / Hidden Power [Fire] / Hidden Power [Ice]

Rotom-F bodies this core with its STABs alone. It also outpaces both members, which is a plus (not that this is a hard goal to achieve xD).
Scarf calcs:
  • 252 SpA Rotom-F Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 0+ SpD Slowking: 216-254 (54.9 - 64.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252 SpA Rotom-F Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth: 510-600 (126.2 - 148.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Specs calcs:
  • 252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-F Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 350-414 (89 - 105.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-F Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth: 762-896 (188.6 - 221.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Calc I discovered by coincidence when setting this up:
  • 0 SpA Rotom-F Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth: 404-476 (100 - 117.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Partner

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Unnerve / Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Fire Fang
- Roost

Aero does the same kind of thing as ScarfTar, except it also outpaces Scarf Hoopa-U, meaning it won't take any unnecessary damage if it attacks predicting Hoopa to stay in. It does a little less with Pursuit though (but it still 2HKOs specs variants with a boost so it shouldn't matter too much; also it gives band variants locked into HSF the middle finger >:D).

Serperior @ Leftovers / Life Orb / Miracle Seed
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power Fire
- Glare / Taunt / Giga Drain

All Serperior really needs is Leaf Storm to beat this core, but Hidden Power Fire and Giga Drain help make it an even more effective response.

Serperior can always (regardless of its item) switch into Tangrowth and win since it's immune to Sleep Powder, is only 3HKOed by Hidden Power Fire, and always 2HKOes. Lefties Serperior does 31.4 - 37.1% at +0 and 63.1 - 74.2% at +2, so assuming any prior damage it'll always be able to kill Tangrowth (especially when it's Rocky Helmet > Lefties) and end up at +3 SpA. Other sets have it easier, as they always 2HKO, but they lack the passive recovery Lefties provides which can definitely help in dealing with Tangrowth.

Serperior can also always switch into and beat Slowking. +0 Lefties Serperior does 68.7 - 81.4% to +0 Slowking, and Leaf Storm boosts your SpA faster than Calm Mind boosts its SpD. The only problem with this is that Psyshock's damage isn't negligible, and at +1 can actually 2HKO Serp, so beware of switching into boosted Slowkings as well as of Leaf Storm misses. Regardless, we're talking a powerful Grass-type setup sweeper v. a bulky water, so it's pretty clear in almost all scenarios Serp will come out on top.

Partner

Tressed's utility Heatran works really well to stop Serp, and was my original idea for a nom before I saw it. So instead, I'll nominate a far less common mon that still beats Serperior and also fits well on teams featuring Slowking and Tangrowth: Goodra.

upload_2016-4-2_11-53-54.png
Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb / Thunderbolt
- Muddy Water / Earthquake

Goodra, thanks to its fantastic special bulk, great coverage, and fair power, serves as a really great answer to Serperior and complement to the physically defensive Slowking and Tangrowth. Leftovers Serperior only does 16.2 - 19.4% with a +0 Dragon Pulse, and is unable to increase its SpA because Goodra is immune to Leaf Storm. Goodra then can do up to 98.9% with Fire Blast, which will KO after basically any prior damage. Goodra is also capable of switching into other threats to the double regen core, such as CharY and Gengar, and 2HKOing/outlasting them. It does, however, exacerbate the KyuB weakness.

Threats

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid/Modest Nature
- Fire Blast/Flamethower
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Just by looking at this core you could see that it has pretty big char y weakness.
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth in Sun: 1026-1208 (254.5 - 299.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 282-332 (71.7 - 84.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

This team also has very big mega-heracross weakness

Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Pin Missile
- Rock Blast
- Swords Dance

252 Atk Mega Heracross Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 248 HP / 252 Def Slowking: 510-600 (129.7 - 152.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Mega Heracross Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 248 HP / 228 Def Tangrowth: 370-450 (91.8 - 111.6%) -- approx. 37.5% chance to OHKO

A good partner to help check these two mons

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability:
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly/adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Aqua Tail
- Fire Fang
Since Aerodactyl has the ability to check and outspeed both mons while having the ability two OHKO each mon
calcs below

252 Atk Aerodactyl Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Heracross: 304-360 (100.9 - 119.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Aerodactyl Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Heracross: 304-360 (100.9 - 119.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Threats:

1)
Volcarona @ Lum Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Giga Drain
- Bug Buzz

With Lum Berry, Volcarona can set-up for free against Tangrowth and Slowking. Then, it can proceed to obliterate the core with +1 Fire Blast and Bug Buzz.

+1 252 SpA Volcarona Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth: 744-876 (184.1 - 216.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth: 906-1068 (224.2 - 264.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Bug Buzz vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Slowking: 416-492 (105.8 - 125.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 Atk Tangrowth Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 72 HP / 0 Def Volcarona: 99-117 (30 - 35.5%) -- 29.1% chance to 3HKO
0 SpA Slowking Scald vs. 72 HP / 0 SpD Volcarona: 168-198 (51 - 60.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

2)
Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball

Manaphy sets up for free against Slowking and can KO with +3 Energy Ball and Ice Beam.

+3 252 SpA Manaphy Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 32 SpD Tangrowth: 668-788 (165.3 - 195%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+3 252 SpA Manaphy Energy Ball vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 376-444 (113.5 - 134.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 SpA Slowking Psyshock vs. 96 HP / 0 Def Manaphy: 87-103 (23.8 - 28.2%) -- 94% chance to 4HKO

3)
Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp

Sableye doesn't care about anything Tangrowth and Slowbro can do while it Calm Minds up and KO the core with boosted Shadow Balls. Scald burns is annoying but the core can't threaten it at all outside of that.

0 SpA Slowking Scald vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Mega Sableye: 61-73 (20 - 24%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Mega Sableye: 63-75 (20.7 - 24.6%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
0 Atk Tangrowth Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 112 Def Mega Sableye: 35-42 (11.5 - 13.8%) -- possible 8HKO

Partner (I already nominated one previously but we have TOO MANY THREATS soo..)

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect

SpD Clefable is something I have little experience with but it is very useful against the threats above as it can ignore all the boosts the opponent gained while boosting up its SpD with Calm Mind and healing up when necessary. This spread also allows Clef to not be 2HKOed by Mega Sableye, Manaphy or Volcarona allowing it to Wish+Protect stall and increase its stats if you get the chance (a Fire Blast miss or the fact that Scald / Shadow Ball does little to you) . The weakness to physical threats is patched up by Tangrowth. Clefable also has a fighting chance against Serperior (unless Serperior has Taunt in which case whichever mon comes out on top depends on prediction.

0 SpA Mega Sableye Shadow Ball vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 58-70 (14.7 - 17.8%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Manaphy Scald vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 84-100 (21.3 - 25.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 144-169 (36.6 - 43%) -- 98.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Leaf Storm vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 148-175 (37.6 - 44.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Serperior: 102-121 (35 - 41.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

EDIT: Yet another threat.

Thundurus @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Focus Blast

Thundurus can set up on Tangrowth when Sleep Clause is on or tank a Scald from Slowking. Then, it can obliterate the core with +2 Super Effective moves.

Top partners for this week are Tyranitar by Random Passerby, Heatran by Tressed, and Mega Aerodactyl by gamer boy. Congratulations to Tressed in particular for entering the hall of fame with five winning entries! Special mention to Flares. as well for also bringing up Mega Aerodactyl as a partner to this core. The reasons each of you gave for your choices were great, and I appreciate the continued contributions :)

Below is the new core for this round. We will continue following the same rules as the previous round, which can be read here for those unfamiliar.

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Pursuit

Serperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power Fire
- Substitute
- Glare / Leech Seed

CB Tar has been receiving a fair amount of attention lately and is very solid set to use in the current metagame. Since it hasn't been featured in this project thus far, here we go! With great power and an awesome STAB combination, CB Tar makes for a nice wall breaker. Tanking its hits isn't easy, and even resists like Keldeo take a huge chunk from Tar's attacks. With things like Mega Latias and Hoopa-U being more popular than ever, CB Tar's strong Pursuit becomes invaluable to trap and eliminate such big threats. Despite all of this, CB Tar isn't without its problems. There are a good amount of Pokemon that can take advantage of CB Tar being locked to a move, examples being Keld and Azu. Defensive grounds like Hippo are also problematic. This is where Serp comes in, threatening the various waters and grounds Tar is troubled by. When running Glare, it's also able to lure in and slow down things like Talon and Torn-T, making them easier for Tar to eliminate for Serp. In exchange, Tar can handle the likes of Latios, Mega Latias, and Kyurem-B for Serp, which is useful with the lack of Dragon Pulse. It's also able to hugely threaten the likes of Tran, which Serp appreciates. They form a nice offensive duo overall and cover each other's weaknesses rather well. Leech Seed is an option here to give Serp a means of recovery and wear down some of its checks by itself. Tar also benefits from being healed up a little by Leech Seed after switching in on something Serp has used it on, such as Tran.

You may now begin discussing threats and partners. Make sure to specify whether the Pokemon you mention is a threat or a partner. This will run for 4 or 5 days depending on activity. We will continue following the same rules as the previous round, which can be read here for those unfamiliar.

Tornadus-Therian @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 96 HP / 160 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Hurricane
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Knock Off

Even if Tyranitar was Choice Scarfed, Assault Vest Tornadus-T still heavily threatens this core with ease, since it outspeeds said Pokemon. Tornadus-T is one one of the best offensive checks to Serperior, as it is able to switch in repetitively to its main attacking move, Leaf Storm, outspeed, and OHKO it with Hurricane or U-turn out to gain back health. It really only fears Glare, as if it switches in on that, it's pretty much worthless for the rest of the match. Tyranitar doesn't outspeed and is OHKOed by Superpower after Stealth Rock damage. The only way Tyranitar can threaten tornadus-T is if it tries to switch into Stone Edge (why) or if it U-turns and is Pursuit trapped.

160 SpA Tornadus-T Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Serperior: 308-366 (105.8 - 125.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 Atk Tornadus-T Superpower vs. 100 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 316-376 (86.3 - 102.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

will think of a partner sooner or later :)
