As the battle begins, Crystaline sends out Dexter-Porygon, and akela sends out DOA-Drifloon, who creates a doll in its own image to Substitute for it with rather good timing, as Porygon's targeting systems had found a weak spot in Drifloon's defenses after downloading an update of its foe's anatomy, and it fired a mighty Thunderbolt at Drifloon that struck the doll and caused it to shatter violently. Drifloon then hurls a venomous blob of Toxins at Porygon, which, while not directly affecting it, somehow manages to implant a virus in its operating systems as Porygon fires an Ice-cold Beam of energy at its attacker, dealing heavy damage. Drifloon manages to withstand the attack, though, and then sends a Will-O-Wisp towards its foe that leaves lasting burns, but then is struck by a Thunderbolt launched by Porygon that scores a direct hit and deals a good chunk of damage.
