n10sit wins this week, it's lit hunna emoji

This week, we're doing Sylveon! While it's powerful in it's own right, it's also quite slow, lacks much coverage, and is physically frail. Often, people just use Mega Gardevoir as a Pixilate Hyper Voice attacker as it is faster and has better coverage thanks to its Psychic STAB. Still, this doesn't mean it's totally useless; with the right support and in the right build, Sylveon can serve well.

Deadline of building on Saturday GMT noon!

Built this team around Kang+Aegis because its not super common but actually is pretty cool. Definitely leaves you weak to a bunch of stuff which is where sylveon came in because of its powerful spread attacks to punish things like Keldeo, Genies, really any frail attacker that isn't a steel type or Amoonguss/Venusaur. I added lando in next because of lack of speed control/need for intimidate/powerful physical spread and added rotom next because of its defensive utility and I felt the water stab was more crucial than prankster t-wave here. Finally added Hydreigon because it gave me Tailwind support and ways to punish Trick Room setters and balance in general.

1. Sylveon. I like CM set.
2. Hydreigon. Takes care of most Sylveon checks/counters.
3. Mega Metagross. Completes the triple core (Fairy-Dragon-Steel), and helps Hydreigon out.
4. Terrakion. Cause Fire types would be annoying, and it beats Kang up. Completes another triple core (Dark-Psychic-Fighting)
5. Rotom-W. Covers remaining threats such as Landorus-T.
6. Talonflame. Gives speed control, and roasts Ferrothorn for dinner.

This team has some really weird mons/sets as this team was originally made for VGC 2015. However, I've changed it to fit for ORAS DOU so it can be used. The crazy spreads on Amoonguss and Swampert are build for this team and are needed as it can take on Mega Gard and Genies which are threats. Mega Gardevoir is the biggest threat but with Timid Zard, Wide Guard Pert, and Amoonguss, it can be played around.

- I used Sylveon because that's what we are forced to use. CM Sylveon is neat as it can boost up on pokemon such as Bulky Thundurus without Taunt and Heatran to an extent.

252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 172 HP / 212 Def Sylveon: 162-191 (84.3 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Heatran Heat Wave vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Sylveon: 54-64 (28.1 - 33.3%) -- Miniscule chance to 3HKO

- Hydreigon takes care of the two big steels in Heatran and Aegislash which are big threats to Sylveon. In return, Sylveon can switch into fighting types which threaten Hydreigon. Outspeeds Timid Heatran and Adamant Landorus-T

252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Return vs. 76 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 292-343 (84.8 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

- Charizard is another steel check, helps with Rain Teams, and fucks up Amoonguss.

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Overheat vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Kangaskhan in Sun: 195-229 (107.7 - 126.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

- Swampert can Wide Guard Rock Slides for Charizard and Hyper Voices aimed at Hydreigon. It can lead against genies and helps against Heatran and Aegislash.

44+ SpA Swampert Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 168-200 (101.8 - 121.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
44+ SpA Expert Belt Swampert Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Thundurus: 101-120 (65.1 - 77.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Sitrus Berry recovery
44+ SpA Swampert Earth Power vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 204-240 (122.1 - 143.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
4 SpA Amoonguss Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 124 SpD Swampert: 144-172 (69.5 - 83%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Swampert: 173-205 (83.5 - 99%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 124 SpD Swampert: 90-107 (43.4 - 51.6%) -- 6.3% chance to 2HKO

- Amoonguss is there to take on fairies and Trick Room. Takes Psychics and Psyshocks from Mega Gardevoir so we can spore after. Rocky Helmet helps put Mega Kangaskhan in range of other attacks.

252+ SpA Mega Gardevoir Psychic vs. 252 HP / 156+ SpD Amoonguss: 186-218 (84.1 - 98.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Mega Gardevoir Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 164 Def Amoonguss: 372-440 (86.1 - 101.8%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 164 Def Amoonguss: 178-213 (80.5 - 96.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Amoonguss Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Breloom: 134-158 (99.2 - 117%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

- Landorus-T gives us intimidate and a solid check to Wide Guard + Mega Charizard Y as that gives this team some trouble.

+1 252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Sucker Punch vs. 12 HP / 92 Def Landorus-T: 140-165 (84.3 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I decided to use LO Sylveon because it gets a lot of the same KOs as Specs, but allows you to run Protect. Hyper Voice is Sylveon's best move, Shadow Ball hits Ghosts and HP Ground hits Heatran and Volcanion. Zard-X is on the team because it destroys most of the Steels that Sylveon hates while also beating Amoonguss. Roost over Protect for longevity and because Aegislash has Wide Guard to block EQ and Rock Slide. Scarf Lando-T for speed and the #skill that comes along with Rock Slide flinches. Intimidate really helps Sylveon's bulk too. Rotom-W as the EQ switchin and the check to Talon. Will-O again helps Sylveon's bluk. Aegislash as mentioned has Wide Guard and checks Gengar and Jirachi. Darkrai is the Taunt user and the way of beating Dragons and another Ghost check. If I had to say one thing about the team, I don't have any Speed control but w/e.

similar mold to other teams I've seen before so this might just be an unoptimized version of a team someone has previously built. I don't remember every team ever made. w/e

Hoopa beats out most Steel-types like Aegis and Jirachi for Sylveon. Sylveon speed IVs are there to let it move after Hoopa in TR while still maintaining Hidden Power Ground, letting Hoopa break Wide Guard before the Hyper Voice. EVs did something. Pixie plate because Life Orb with bulk investment is meh. CM not because i love setting up, but it's a good filler in order to capitalize on double protects stalling TR. Jirachi is my secondary TR setter and provides follow me support to draw away Kangaskhans and stuff out of Sylveon's way.

My weakness to bisharp-based cores forces me to consider Conkeldurr. It is a legitimate threat inside TR, and appreciates Hoopa blowing up defensive cores. Wide Guard is great as our team is looking quite EQ weak, and Lando-T weak if we can't get up TR. Ice Punch takes it out before it does too much. Lando-T checks Heatran and Lando--T. Intimidate is good for a bulky team like this.

Kangaskhan is a good TR Mega and lets me Fake Out for safer TR, another check to Bisharp, etc.

hey guys, team is somewhat standard i suppose. sylveon is the pokemon of the week, therefore is on the team. since this team doesnt struggle with heatran, i took the liberty of faking specs with pixie plate in order to run protect, potentially setting up tailwind with it. the spread lets you live a kangaskhan return, which is amazing. the first thing that comes to mind when using sylveon is how to stop fire and steel types who wall the vocal cords spam. i chose volcanion for its ability to beat both, and high stats. i opted for volcanion instead of heatran because i wanted to pressure other heatrans who'd stay in and try to sub or earth power me. power herb solar beam is a set i saw on the analysis. i thought it would fit my team because, and as i noticed similarly to most of the other squads, sylveon teams tend to be rotom wash weak, so go ahead and catch those washing machines on the switch. the speed is to hit 440 after tailwin, outspeed deoxys attack, which is enough of a benchmark for me. latios was added because it synergizes well with volcanion, gives the team considerable speed, and carries tailwind, plus can help with sun teams. i tried to not use megagross , but it seemed to help me soo much because steel and fairy work together fantastically, and it gave me a kangaskhan check that wasnt as slow as aegislash. substitute helps mostly avoiding rotom-wash's will-o-wisp because this team is vulnerable to it, as well as to avoid bisharp a bit. keldeo was added because a stronger kangaskan counter, pairs super well with metagross, can sword a weakneed rotom wash, and carries taunt to have a second answer to trickroom and tailwind. landorus is a diancie, fire type check, because both still can find ways to threaten my team. this team has a lot of protect users since sylveon isnt specs, which can make it a bit affordable. 212 speed because u turn. enjoy, i hope you liked it :)

The team is pretty basic in nature. I wanted to build around hoopa-u + volcanion TR, and sylveon fits that combo perfectly. It beats nearly every dragon out there, which neither hoopa nor volcanion do well against, and provides amazing offensive pressure under TR. Kang was added for fake out support, and I decided to go with hammer arm because I find it helps it perform better under TR. Ludicolo is one of the most underappreciated mons imo when it comes to TR teams. Its coverage + fake out support make it so that it is nearly never dead weight, and it gets rain dish for when your opponent inevitably sets rain :^) Porygon2 is the dedicated TR setter for the team, as I prefer to run one offensive setter and one dedicated setter so that the team isn't bogged down by dead weight.

With a one vote lead, Silverwhiteblue wins the week, congrats!

This week, we're going old school and doing teambuilding based on the BW meta! We're building around:

Metagross - All I can really say is that it's a strong bulky attacker in the BW metagame, boasting nifty typing that lets it matchup against stuff, especially Dragons, pretty nicely.

Deadline is on Saturday GMT noon!

It's a 5 minute team...

But ok Metagross is good vs Dragons because it's bulky and gem mash hits back hard af. Unfortunately, it doesn't particularly enjoy rain or sun, so I've gone with a sand team and salamence to try to stop the sun, esp since scarf tar can pressure opposing speed control mons like latios and tornadus so that salamence's tailwind can shine through. Excadrill provides the immediate threat that forces opposing weather setters back in. Chople Berry helps it bait Breloom, which is very good for TTar's and Rotom-W's (and Metagross's) existence. Rotom-W helps cover rain threats not named Ludicolo. It can come in on a LO Kingdra Muddy Water in Rain and then live a Draco Meteor something like 63/64 of the time and then TWave. Skymin fills in a few blanks, being good against Rotom-W, Heatran, Breloom, Hitmontop, etc. Also it just fits well on Sand in general.

Description:
The Metagross that beats up on Heatran, other Metagross, Landorus-T, and has prio for ScarfTar. It did pretty well back in the day albeit it didn't function like your normal Metagross. It works inside or outside of TR, and works with the team around it. The team offers two modes, one inside of TR and one that stabilizes outside with high speed ceilings with ScarfTar and Landorus-T and solid bulky Pokemon with good tactical moves in Rotom-W and Metagross. Amoonguss + Cresselia + Metagross + Rotom-W allows good field control inside of TR.
