Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Whoops, totally forgot about this. Won't happen again.
Stratagem @ Expert Belt
Hidden Power x3
IF you are tormented when you are to act, THEN Dazzling Gleam the first instance, Ancient Power the second instance.
IF Druddigon is to use a Damaging Ground Move AND you are not under the effects of Smack Down AND you are not already under the effects of Magnet Rise, THEN Magnet Rise.
IF Druddigon is to use Sucker Punch, THEN Stealth Rock the first instance, Toxic the second instance, Rain Dance the third instance.
And with a quick trade of more steel slashes and icy orbs, the round ends. Druddigon stands, barely, and Stratagem is down. The gym leader has drawn his first blood of the match. However, he still has two relatively healthy opponents (if Gardevoir is a bit tired) to face down. And one of his Pokemon is both slow and low on health. It's hard to see how he could come back to win, but with a bad enough choke or the play of the century (or just an unholy amount of luck) it's possible. So stay tuned.

The challenger withdraws his Stratagem before throwing its ball into the air rhythmically. He bites his lip in apparent concentration, but whether or not it's real when he has a lead so massive is anyone's guess.
"Syclant," he calls before the ice bug enters the field. It shudders in the heat, but still faces down his opponent and prepares to—
"Charizard!"
The Druddigon is withdrawn and a weary Charizard takes its place. She beats her wings and roars to the sky. Defeat might be assured, but she won't go down until she can't go any further.
Syclant pivots seamlessly from offense to utility, casting little iron spikes down on the field in an iron rain. Charizard shields herself with a spinning orb of flames that melt anything that gets too close to her. When the onslaught stops, she launches the orb off of her. It breaks up a little in air, but still meets and encases Syclant, trapping him inside of a whirlwind of hot air and occasional sparks.
The insect seethes and launches out another small volley, this time of icicles that pelt the newly defenseless Charizard. They do far, far more than you would expect to a fire-type, and one even finds a way to reach her eye. But she soldiers on nonetheless. In fact, an aura of blue fire rises up around her as she steps back onto the field and roars, preparing for one last glorious show. She blasts out an enormous kanji of flames that hit Syclant directly, almost pulverizing the bug.
But the Syclant finds resolve. She clutches onto a totem from her training and perseveres, knowing that however intense the heat the reward of victory will be far more glorious. He lifts himself off the ground, his wings chattering like a thousand cicadas. Then the bug begins to fly, slowly at first, but with increasing speed as a cone of flames forms around him. Charizard pivots to a full and steady stream of blue flames but the Syclant slams right through them and collides in a blast of fire and sound.
When the smoke clears, Syclant is sitting on the ground exhausted. Charizard lies several meters away, clearly knocked out.
The gym leader withdraws her, shaking his head and whispering praise.
After several seconds of silence he looks up to the challenger.
"It would be irresponsible of me to continue at this point. You have proven your worth and I have no qualms allowing you to hold the emblem of a dragon master."
With a handshake and a gift, the battle ends.
