Texas's turn! (don't kill meee)

Never saw that this had been posted, sorry. Didn't get that highlight either oddly enough not oddly at all actually you highlighted some random by the name of Texas lol. I missed the other match of mine Frosty is reffing so it's all his fault imo :p

In other news, "oh for fuck's sake again???"

Iron Head ~ Iron Tail ~ Iron Head

If damaging fairy attack and not in a combo, Dig that action and push back
If Bide, replace orders with Toxic ~ Substitute (15) ~ Iron Head from the Bide action

Quick Attack - Quick Attack - Quick Attack

EDIT: If for some reason Pixilate Quick Attack doesn't trigger Texas's substitution, replace your course of action with Hyper Voice - Hyper Voice - Hyper Voice

Quick Attack is a normal type move, Pixilate changing its type upon attack shouldnt alter that for ordering purposes as far as I'm aware

15:57FrostyHey people lurking this channel, I have a question: Consider the sub "If Damaging Fairy-Type Damaging move THEN Rainbows". Does a Pixilate Quick Attack trigger it?
15:53Pwnemonimo yes
15:54Pwnemonit hits for fairy damage

15:56FrostyI agree with you. But since it is a gym match I will get a third opinion, just to be sure.
15:56Frostyhey elevator_music, care to pitch in?

15:56Frostyor Objection

15:57Objectionlet me see what the sub rules say about "damaging x-type moves"
15:57elevator_music?
15:57Pwnemoni mean
15:57Pwnemonit affects comboes of x type
15:57Pwnemoni dont see why it wouldnt affect typechanged moves
15:57FrostyHey people lurking this channel, I have a question: Consider the sub "If Damaging Fairy-Type Damaging move THEN Rainbows". Does a Pixilate Quick Attack trigger it?
15:57Pwnemondo we have any precedent with normalize?
15:57elevator_musicimo it should trigger
15:58Frostyit is not common for people to use "if damaging normal-type then" sub.
15:58Frostyso I think no precedents.
15:58FrostyThanks emma.
15:58Pwnemonno but if they use if damaging ground-type
15:58Pwnemonand then normalize dig
15:58Pwnemonthen again why would you sub like that against a normalize mon lol
15:58Objectiongo with pwne and emma
15:58Pwnemoni didnt think we would have precedent
15:58Objectionand this is why i think we should've defined the attack classes by the attributes of the moves rather than as lists of moves
15:59Objection(well that and arenas changing the effects of certain moves)
15:59Frostyarenas do screw with those rules >_<
15:59FrostyThanks guys.

In some cases, an arena effect may modify do something like changing Surf to a Ground-type move, causing the move to be a better fit for a different substitution class. Treat the move as being in the move class(es) that it fits best as long as the arena effect persists.

Not 100% spot on, but close enough

That being said...

Round 7!

I wonder why all challenges of the Dragon Gym become a damage run in the end.

It's so dull and boring.

Also, Garchomp won the race this round, thanks to sand, rough skin and sylveon's more-than-pathetic attack.

Still not enough to turn the tides around unfortunately.

Well, let's see what happens now.

Quick Attack - Quick Attack - Quick Attack
If Garchomp uses a Protective/Evasive move, replace your respective action with Chill and push your actions back. Do not play this substitution twice in a row.
If Garchomp uses Endure, replace your respective action with Toxic and push your actions back. Play this substitution only once at most in this round.

Round 8

You probably scrolled down to see the results, so let's cut to the chase here.

The challenger relied on the good luck he got so far to keep his lead going, while the leader was waiting for the winds of war to blow in his favor for a change.

All nice and dandy, right?

Well...

When messing with not that high probabilities, you have to have a plan B. That is why you got substitutions. Unfortunately for him, the challenger didn't include a plan B and guess what happened?

logo.png

Toxic missed! And Sylveon kept attacking Garchomp with Quick Attack, losing health to Rough Skin and being wide open for attacks. So it fainted.

And with that mistake, the Leader took back the lead! Still, the last mon of the challenger is the strongest of them all, so let's just watch and see what happens!

DATA:

ACTION 1!

Garchomp used Endure! (-15en)

Sylveon used Toxic! (-7en)

-2hp due to sand

Garchomp used Iron Head! (-6en)
Crit: 8 (no)

ACTION 3!

Sylveon used Quick Attack! (-7en)

Ability must be toggled on the same post as the sendout, or else the opponent won't be able to account for it when ordering. But since you said you confirmed it, I will go do it myself on IRC. At some point.

Round 12!

*sigh*

Anyway,

The first thing you should notice when ordering first is to look at your opponent's movepool to see if Counter, Bide, Encore, Endure or Mirror Coat are there. The second thing is be certain that your opponent can't abuse of your subs to induce energy Exhaustion (aka the Athenodoros effect).

Hopefully the lesson stays.

The challenger (finally) switches to offense mode and orders his Gardevoir to attack for a change. Also, to avoid Taunt (and losing the opportunity to chill later), he orders Sune to Magic Coat in case that happens and then resume the offense.

The other sub was bogus >_<;.

The Gym Leader, the good player he is, abused the sub to its fullest, netting the following results:

Gardevoir started the round by using Magic Coat to reflect a Torment fired at Druddigon. 9 energy gone.

After that, another Magic Coat was used to reflect Druddigon's Taunt. 13 energy gone (total of 22)

Finally, on the very first attack Gardevoir fires at Druddigon, a very good 34.5 hp of damage was dealt.

And then Sune the Gardevoir fainted. *shrugs*

With that, The Gym Leader is the winner! Which is only to show that:

a) I am terrible at predicting MVPs;
b) You should wait and bitch after losing not before, or you will sound silly;
c) Texas should put Compoundeyes as an effect is his gym haha
DATA:
