It had always been interesting, the way in which Gyms come and go. Indeed, it was only 10 years ago when it would've been odd for anyone to consider Castelia City hosting the Electric Gym, but it was now. The HMS Tesla stands proudly in the port, although it normally sails a mile away from the port for the purpose of battles. The ship is a fairly standard ship, from the Falklands era. It has been fitted to accommodate battles, and notably on the main deck you can see what appears to be a giant crown - 4 golden arches curve around to support a giant gemstone above the deck.

Entering the ship, you immediately enter what appears to be a relatively fancy restaurant, quite busy. Looking around, there appears to be a window viewing the arena directly, as well as several plasma screens showing the currently empty arena. As you look around, you're greeted by a man in yellow and black attire.

"Hello there, welcome aboard the HMS Tesla. Are you here for the restaurant or the gym? The Gym? Well, this is special, the guests tonight will get a lovely show. We'll probably be ready to battle in about half an hour or so, so until then feel free to sit down and order a coffee."

Indeed, the ship does get rather full, and as the sun sets the ship begins to move out to sea. As you finish your coffee, the man returns - at this stage, you're fairly certain this is the gym leader. You're beckoned outside, and see the arena is stationed below the crown shape. However, you can't take in the beauty before the leader speaks again...

"Emolga, give us some light will ya!"

An Emolga pops out of the leader's Pokéball, and sends a small shot of lighting at the gem in the centre of the crown. It absorbs the electricity and lights up, revealing itself to actually be a giant ThunderStone. Impressive...

"Now then, a few things before we begin. Whenever you send out a Pokémon this giant rock will zap the item. Don't worry about it, it'll be perfectly safe. It just prevents it from being a drag for when your team is moving around. We also have plants and grass available on the arena as you should see, not to mention the small amount of water that surrounds this ship. You'll also note that this ship, whilst much of it has been replaced and altered, is still of British origin and has brought the weather along with it..."

The leader clicks his fingers, and on cue a light rain smothers the arena.

"Finally, good luck, and make sure you provide a good show!"
  • All Pokémon who benefit from the item ThunderStone instantly gain the effect.
  • No Pokémon is treated as holding an item for the sake of Acrobatics BAP.
  • During "Clear" weather, a light rain falls, which acts as normal rain, except with only ±1 BAP on Water/Fire Moves
  • There is no restriction on natural substances (Natural water, Grass, Rocks, etc.) to attack with.

Hello everybody, and welcome to this match between the electric gym leader and... someone else. I regret nothing Let's get straight to the battlers, shall we?

In this corner, we have the esteemed gym leader, Dogfish44. He brings a versatile team of powerful electric pokemon, which shouldn't surprise anybody, because, you know, electric gym leader. Keep an eye on Rotom, because it's immune to the challenger's main STAB and can take on a Grass typing, which gives it access to overly strong Leaf Storms against half the challengers team. Also it's really bulky and annoying to kill.

In the other corner, we have a different guy, bringing a team packed full of ground-types. Again, this shouldn't surprise you, because Ground does well against Electric. Pay attention to Swampert, because it has twice as many moves as any of Someoneelse's other mons. Also it's generally strong and such.

And with a quick flash, the pokemon take the field! The challenger leads with Swampert and Golurk, while the leader counters with Cyclohm and Krillowatt.

To start off the battle, Krillowatt creates a giant wave and sends in crashing into the ground types. Not to be outdone, Cyclohm does the same, although it seems to be a bit less effective. Golurk, not pleased with all this water, decides to show those nasty electric-type who's boss, by smashing the floor a few times, hard enough to send the poor Krillowatt flying a few feet in the air. Amazingly enough, the floor is still intact, even if it is cracked in a few places. The people who made this boat must've really thought ahead. Swampert, on the other hand, just sat there looking really mad.

Golurk then threw up a shield to protect itself from any more nasty water, but it proves to be futile as Krillowatt appears to be just thinking really hard and Cyclohm sends a bunch of rings straight at Swampert, making the mud fish incredibly irritated.

So much so, that Swampert lashes out at Cyclohm, knocking the dragon out! Krillowatt looks alarmed, or at least as alarmed as a shrimp can look, but decides either that Golurk is an easier target or that Golurk is the bigger threat, and shoots a beam of ice at the robot. Said robot then punches the Krillowatt for a good amount of damage.

At the end of the round, Someoneelse has the hp advantage, but Dogfish44 has 2 near-full hp pokemon out and orders second, so it could go either way at this point.
I use a d1200 for all of my rolls.

I'm off for the night, so I'll restate from IRC that the Hydro Pump vs Swampert should've been a Hidden Power, and that the partial rain my gym has should be applied.

Anyway, I'll be using Eelektross @ Expert Belt as a replacement for Cyclohm.

With a sigh, the leader recalls Cyclohm. In its place, he sends out Eelektross.

The first thing the eel does on being sent out is throw up a protective barrier. A good thing too, since both Swampert and Golurk attack it. Krillowatt, mad about what Swampert did to Cyclohm, fires a giant laser at Swampert, barely knocking it out!

Then, Golurk vanishes and strikes Eelektross, but Eelektross had other thoughts about that and sucked the life out of the robot. Or whatever Golurk uses as life energy.

The Krillowatt then tries to blast Golurk, but the laser really tired out the shrimp and all it manages to do is hit itself. Golurk tries to slip away into the shadows, but suddenly the wooden floor comes to life and grabs the robot, slamming it into the floor! The impact knocked out Golurk.

At the end of the round, the leader holds a large advantage over the challenger. Things are looking very grim for Someoneelse, but maybe he'll find a way out.

(Seismitoad is supposed to have 110 max HP, not 100.)

After recalling Swampert and Golurk, Someoneelse takes a deep breath and sends out Seismitoad and Cradily. Dogfish44, seeing these pokemon take the field, decides to send out Electrivire, taking Krillowatt off the field temporarily.

As soon as Cradily hits the field, it throws up a protective barrier. Electrivire notes this, however, and instead throws some rings at Seismitoad, doing significant damage. Seismitoad, not liking this, decides to dig down to a lower deck, leaving a nice-sized hole in the floorboards. That looks expensive to fix... Eelektross tries to drain the life out of Seimitoad, however he can't reach the toad from a floor above. Afterwards, Seismitoad, showing surprising agility, jumps up out of the hole and smacks Electrivire.

Electrivire then kicks Cradily's roots in an attempt to slow it down. Why he wanted to slow it down is anybody's guess, but hey. Seismitoad once again digs a hole in the floor, maybe in an effort to obtain a "most expensive challenger" award or something? Eelektross decides to ignore Seismitoad this time and instead smacks Cradily with a karate chop or something. Seismitoad once again leaps out of the hole and hits Electrivire. Cradily causes the floorboards to explode beneath Electrivire, blasting it into the air! Yeah, definitely going for the "most expensive challenger."

Electrivire, realizing that it's about to die, then smacks Cradily once more with the same karate chop that Eelektross was using earlier. And not a moment too soon, because Seismitoad then causes the floorboards to explode beneath Electrivire again, although not quite as severe this time. It's still enough to knock the... whatever Electrivire is out, though! Eelektross also punches Cradily afterwards, but who cares about that, really?

At the end of the round, the field looks pretty even, with the leader having an hp advantage while the challenger has the type advantage, but the leader is ordering second next round...

Seismitoad has Swift Swim, so it should outspeed Electivire A1 and A3, meaning Seismitoad and Cradily each should have a little bit more HP.

Frowning, Dogfish44 recalls Electrivire and sends Krillowatt back out in its place. The shrimp enters the field, eager to defeat these new foes.

Seeing Krillowatt, Seismitoad decides that it is the bigger threat and then causes the floor to explode yet again. Have fun paying to repair the ship, I guess? Eelektross then repeats the karate maneuver from earlier, damaging Cradily. Cradily, realizing that it's getting low on health, decides to drain some from Krillowatt. Krillowatt then blasts energy at Cradily, in revenge for the damage Cradily did earlier.

Seismitoad then continues the assault and launches a ball of mud at Krillowatt, hurting the shrimp even more. Krillowatt just fires a beam of ice at Cradily, cleanly knocking it out. Eelektross then drains life out of Seismitoad.

Seismitoad, reeling from the pain of Eelektross' last attack, throws up a protective barrier. Just in time, too, because Eelektross tries to trip it up with the floorboards, and Krillowatt fires a massive laser at Seismitoad, similar to the one that took out Swampert earlier. Fortunately for Someoneelse, the barrier held.

At the end of the round, Dogfish44 holds a 2-1 lead over Someoneelse, but Eelektross can barely stand and Krillowatt is cooling down from its last attack. It doesn't help the leader that he's ordering first this round, either.

I don't feel like doing extensive flavor right now but Someoneelse's attempt to hax dogfish44 fails, which is amazing given dogfish44's track record of hax. Krillowatt is KOd by the Mud Bomb before it can move, Seismitoed's Grass weakness shows how sucky it is, and lots of chilling happens.
