[Overview]

Exeggcute might have got a major boost this generation in the form of Drought Vulpix, but sadly, Vulpix is banned, so Exeggcute will have to rely upon Sunny Day support to sweep. But that doesn't mean Exeggcute can't double its Speed a fast and potent wall, it just makes it harder . Eviolite also makes Exeggcute much more bulky, and Exeggcute still has a reliable recovery move in Synthesis and useful resistances to common Fighting-, Water-, and Ground-type attacks.

But it's not all sunshine for Exeggcute. First of all, it has a pretty bad Special Defense stat of 45, and to go along with that it has weaknesses to common Ice-, Fire-, Dark-, and Ghost-type special attacks. Exeggcute's movepool is also pretty lackluster, as it has few coverage options outside of its STAB attacks. All in all, Exeggcute is a decent Pokemon, but won't be seeing much use in LC.

[SET]
name: Physical Wall
move 1: Wish / Synthesis
move 2: Giga Drain
move 3: Leech Seed / Hidden Power Fire
move 4: Protect / Toxic
item: Eviolite
ability: Chlorophyll
nature: Bold
evs: 236 HP / 236 Def / 36 Spe
[Set Comments]

While Exeggcute isn't the best wall in LC, it can accomplish a feat that no other wall in LC can- it can outspeed most Scarf users and tie with Choice Scarf Scraggy. It also can heal itself fully with Synthesis in the sun, taking away the need for Rest. Other than that, Exeggcute also gets Giga Drain to heal itself. Leech Seed is good with Giga Drain allowing Exeggcute to regenerate its health at a crazy rate. Hidden Power Fire hits Ferroseed, who otherwise would wall Exeggcute completely. Protect stalls for Leech Seed damage, and Toxic can be used with Hidden Power Fire to have another way of taking down the opponent's health.

[Additional Comments]

Obviously for this set, Pokemon with Sunny Day support like Cherrim are great partner to bring sun. Chesto Berry and Harvest can be used outside of Sun, but that kinda ruins the idea of having a fast wall. Houndour is another great partner for Exeggcute, he is immune to Fire and Exeggcute can take most Water type attacks not coming from a certain clam. Munchlax is a great partner especially if it has Sunny Day to take Ice and Fire type attacks coming at Exeggcute, and it can also take Fighting type attacks coming at Munchlax. The EV spread makes sure you are still bulky and can still tie with common Choice Scarfers like Magnemite. Dragon Dance or Choice Scarf Scraggy is probably the best counter to this set, due to outspeeding it by 1 point and KOing it with Crunch.

[SET]
name: Chlorophyll Sweeper
move 1: Giga Drain / Solarbeam
move 2: Psychic
move 3: Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Fighting
move 4: Sleep Powder / Synthesis / Sunny Day
item: Life Orb / Eviolite
ability: Chlorophyll
nature: Modest
evs: 116 HP / 236 SpA / Spe 116
[Set Comments]

This set may seem outclassed by Oddish and Petlil offensively, but Exeggcute has much better defenses and STAB Psychic attacks. Giga Drain is the preferred option because with Solarbeam, you are pretty much screwed if the weather changes. Psychic gets dual STAB and Hidden Power Fire rounds off the coverage. Hidden Power Fighting can be used to hit Houndour, who otherwise can destroy you. Sleep Powder makes sure you are not setup bait, and Synthesis keeps you alive, for a longer sweep.

[Additional Comments]

Again, Sunny Day support is a great teammate for aforementioned reasons. Energy Ball can be used sometimes, but compared to the instant health regeneration from Giga Drain, its kind of dull. Hidden Power Ground hits both Steels and Houndour, but Bronzor really walls you. Life Orb gives you alot of power, but Eviolite makes you very bulky with Synthesis. Heat Rock can be used to have an elongated sweep with Sunny Day, but that can be provided by team members. A Timid Nature can be used to tie with +2 Scraggy, but Modest gives much more power. The EV spread makes sure that Exeggcute outspeeds +1 Scraggy, and the rest was put into HP.

[Other Options]

In the Chlorophyll set, Explosion can be used when your at low health to escape, but since it got nerfed in 5th Gen, its not a suggested option. For some reason, Exeggcute gets Swords Dance (and not Calm Mind...) and can run a Chlorophyll set with Swords Dance, Seed Bomb, Return, Explosion, and Secret Power (I think its Earthquake in Wifi.), but it doesn't get very good coverage. A Trick Room support set with Trick Room, Light Screen, Reflect, and Giga Drain can be used but you kind of are outclassed in that department with Natu. With Harvest, Exeggcute can use Oran Berry to regenerate half of it's health, but you lose Eviolite and Chlorophyll. Heat Rock and Sunny Day can be used to give you more speed, but its much more suggested if you get it from a teammate.

[Checks and Counters]

Houndour is the best counter to Exeggcute by destroying it with it's STAB attacks. Ferroseed can wall Exeggcute completely if it isn't packing Hidden Power Fire. Snover and Hippopotas can obviously destroy it by taking away Exeggcute's sun. Stunky traps it with Pursuit and Sucker Punch, just watch out for Hidden Power Ground. Scraggy takes hits with Eviolite and can KO it with Crunch. Dratini also resists Grass and can revenge kill with ExtremeSpeed. Lickitung can also be a good counter by taking away your Sun and start using Curse while you do absolutely nothing. Most Pokemon with U-turn like Scarf Mienfoo and Gligar are good counters, too.
