Fire-water-Grass- Best Team Core Ever (My new NU RMT)

The Team

In Depth

Rainbow (Charizard) (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Flamethrower

CVhoice Specs Charizard is VERY good. It hits like an absolute TRUCK! Fire Blast and air Slash for STAB. Flamethrower is there in case I don't have any more Fire Blasts after I send Charizard in again and HP Grass is there for all of those pesky Rock, Water and Electric types that could take Charizard's flames. I love this Charizard set... If only it wasn't so weak to rocks... Well, still, it hits a lot of the Metagame fairly hard.

Exeggutor (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 248 HP / 176 SAtk / 84 Spd
Modest Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
- Psychic

This Exeggutor set takes advantage of its Harvest ability through the use of Rest+Lum Berry. It also has sleep Powder to put dangerous Pokemon to sleep as well as Giga Drain and Psychic for STAB and Coverage. This Pokemon can be VERY annoying if the opponent lets it. Constantly harvesting Lum Berries and then constantly Resting and instantly waking up. That is this Pokemon's strategy

Lappy (Lapras) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt (this specific move can be changed if need be)
- Surf
- Heal Bell

This is my specially defensive Lapras. It can take special hits very well. It has managed to survive super effective attacks at decent HP. Heal Bell is there just in case my Sawk gets burned or something like that where I need to cure status conditions. Surf and Ice Beam are there for STAB aattacks and Thunderbolt is there, just in case there's a Pokemon I'm facing that resists Surf and Ice Beam (Water types) but it has been proven that useful, so that moveslot can be changed if need be. Lapras has served her purpose well and has saved me many times.

X-Factor (Metang) @ Eviolite
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
- Toxic
- Psych Up

This is posibly one of the wierdest sets I have ever used. It still has proven to be effective though. Stealth Rock is there for other pesky Charizard and other Pokemon weak to it. Meteor Mash is there for STAB, Toxic is there to poison walls and Psych Up is used in case someone is setting up on me. I can copy those stat boosts and use them against my opponent. It's not the best strategy in the world but Metang has helped me numerous times Metang may not be that helpful, but he still is a very nice bulky Pokemon.

Stephan (Sawk) @ Choice Band
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Stone Edge

Sawk is a VERy powerful Pokemon when given a Choice band. If any of you remember my old NU RMT, I used to get WRECKED by Sawk without a Musharna. This thing is DEADLY. Close Combat for Stab. Mold Breaker+Earthquake to ruin Eelektross's immunity. Ice Punch for those pesky bulky Dragon types and Stone Edge for flying types who dare come into an attack. This thing packs a serious punch and if you don't have a counter to it, then ONE of your teammates will have to die to it. It's just too strong... Makes me wonder why it's in the NU tier....

Casino Zone (Sneasel) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Ice Punch
- Foul Play
- Ice Shard

(anyone who has played Sonic will know why I named a Shiny Sneasel Casino Zone) Last but not least, we have Sneasel, who is pretty powerful for a Pokemon that isn't fully evolved. It can Pursuit trap and outspeed a lot of Pokemon with that amazing speed stat and it can hit pretty hard when it has a Life Orb equipped. The moveset should be pretty self-explanatory. Pursuit for trapping Pokemon on switches, Ice Punh for STAB, Foul Play to take advantage of a Pokemon's high attack and Ice Shard for priority. Like I said, pretty self explanatory

So that's the team. Be as critical as possible with the ratings. I want this team to be the best NU team ever!

This is actually a really cool team, and I love the ideas behind it! That being said, as I proved earlier, this team is extremely weak to any fighting type as long as Exeggutor is down, and rock types can do a number as well. Probopass also walls a good number of your team, being eliminated truly only by Sawk and possibly Exeggutor. Setup sweepers also run through this team, such as Shell Smash Carracosta, as your team has little to revenge kill any potent sweeper, especially water types Smashers such as Costa, Gorebyss, or to an extent Ludicolo.

Looking over the team, Lapras doesn't do anything for you outside of provide heal bell. It loses momentum, and is quite honestly isn't much good. I suggest you run Standard Seismitoad, to beat Carracosta even after the smash, and to beat Rock Types who do considerable amounts to the rest of your team. It also has amazing type synergy with SpecsZard, eliminating each other's checks and counters.

Choice Scarf Primeape over Choice Band Sawk is a necessary change on this team in my opinion. While Sawk hits like a truck and can eliminate stealth rocks, your lack of a way to deal with setup sweepers is extremely worrying, and means that one bad play can lose you the entire match. Choice Scarf Primeape can ease your need to predict, allowing you to revenge kill sweepers, and yet still hitting hard off the bat. To be honest, your team isn't THAT rock weak, and SpecsZard will sometimes appreciate the rocks to help it get into Blaze Range.

My final change is Brick Break over Foul Play on Sneasel. Ice Punch is already a necessary STAB, in unison with Pursuit and Ice Shard. However, Sneasel really does need a way to break through Rock and Steel type checks, which Brick Break is absolutely essential for!

Another thing. DO NOT HAVE 4 HP EVs ON CHARIZARD OR SNEASEL! This is a huge mistake, meaning that Zard can only switch into stealth rocks 1 time, and Sneasel only 3, rather than the respective 2 and 4..

i remember that seismitoad. i ran into you in random batle and you destroyed my entire team with it and gurdurr...

I will test out your changes (and yes, to anyone else, I will still greatly accept changes)

Hello! While looking at your team, Hazards really hurt your team, mainly Stealth Rocks. Considering Lapras is only there for utility, I recommend Utility Misdreavus over Lapras. Misdreavus has taunt which helps keep hazards off your side of the field and as Brawlfest mentioned, helps deal with your fighting weakness. Misdreavus also gets heal bell which helps remove status on your team and is generally better than lapras in this case. If you wish to keep your F/W/G core, then you can also run All Out Attacking Samurott over Misdreavus. Samurott works really well as a anti-lead due to its access to taunt and its ability to beat most common stealth rock leads. Finally, as a suggestion, you should run Choice Scarf over Choice Specs on Charizard. You have no way of revenge killing outside of Sneasel's Priority Ice Shard. All in all, good luck with your team! (imo sitrus berry exeggutor is WAAY more annoying to face ._.)

Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 220 Def / 40 SDef
Bold Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Heal Bell (Note that I personally like running Heal Bell over Pain Split because of the lack of opportunity to use it.)

OR

Samurott @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Taunt

(also brawlfest, where do you get all those fancy x/y pokemon sprites?)

Yeah, Lapras is just one of those Pokemon that Nintendo intended to be really good, but isn't, even in NU. As others have pointed out, you have limited revenge-killing potential, so I might instead suggest this Water-type Scarfer that nobody uses except me, but which is actually pretty good in my experience:

Simipour @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- HP Grass
- Focus Blast / Surf

This is one of the fastest Scarfers out there, and is pretty powerful too. It doesn't have the anti-lead ability that Samurott has but Sawk already does that pretty well. It can also easily revenge-kill Shell Smash and Dragon Dance users with HP Grass and Ice Beam respectively. Torrent is cool for sweeping late game, as with it Simipour is one of the hardest-hitting Scarfers in the tier.

Also this is more of a personal taste, but to be honest I see little reason to use Sneasel over Skuntank as a Pursuit trapper in NU. Skuntank is bulkier, isn't weak to Stealth Rock, absorbs Toxic Spikes, has only one weakness and has access to Sucker Punch, a far more powerful priority move than Sneasel's Ice Shard. I just can't think of a reason why I would want to use Sneasel ahead of it, but admittedly I've never used Sneasel myself.

(Either way, Pursuit support would be very beneficial to Simipour because it absolutely need Jynx out of the way to function well).

Continuing on Noobcubed's Sneasel comment, I'd like to point out about the longevity of your dark type. Scarf jynx is going to be one of those threats that wants to come in on your team often as it hits many of your pokes very hard. Sneasle is a fantastic check to jynx, but it's rock weakness and general frailness make it unable to fully counter a scarf set:

252 SpA Jynx Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Sneasel: 85-101 (33.8 - 40.2%) -- 35.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Running 52 SpD EVs would amend this problem, but Sneasel would still likely get KO'd after life orb recoil and it'd miss the 48 Atk EVs you'd have to take away.

Skuntank can certainly run that particular scenario much better, but it has a bit different of a roll at that point. You could also conciser Liepard as an option:

Liepard @ Dread Plate
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 240 Atk / 100 SDef / 168 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Encore
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch

The set I posted is a tad weird but I thought I'd point it out as an option for you, since skuntank is hugely overused at the moment and take away from your teams overall speed. 100SpD allows it to safely switch in on jynx after rocks, at which point you can go for the safe pursuit KO if it's not scarf or scare it off with the suckerpunch if it is. Additionally it functions as a pivot with encore and u-turn, which would allow you to remove Psych Up from Metang in exchange for something like bullet punch, since you can never have too much priority. The 168+ speed lets you outspeed 95 base pokes with a positive nature, which is all this set needs to do. The rest of the EVs are in Atk with dread plate to dish out the most damage possible with it's moves. Personally I find Liepard inferior to Skuntank for what you need, but I wanted to point out your options if you chose not to go that direction.

Short post because I'm on a phone. Skuntank fits this team much better than Pard. I would recommend Lum Berry Skunk in particular, as it can beat both Jynx and Missy more reliably. Running bulk investment on pivotpard is just a waste, because you lose out on the ability to beat some dangerous setup sweepers, whereas skuntank can afford bulk, because all it needs to outsized is Misdreavus.
Skuntank also had the added perk of absorbing tspikes, which is always nice to have, even though your team doesn't seem to have much trouble with them.
Another option is to have bullet punch or pursuit on Metang, as Jynx can't really touch it.

I'd replace Exeggutor's Lum Berry with a Chesto Berry since Rest heals status.
You want it to heal status. This allows Exeggutor to act as a reliable Status absorber, as well as due to it's harvest ability, a pseudo Rest abuser..

Why the hell would you want a Chesto. It absolutely defeats any utility exeggutor has.

Banned deucer.

Because you can Rest away the status and not have to waste the berry, giving Harvest more opportunity to activate.

Umm the sole purpose of LumRest Exeggutor in NU is to be a status absorber for status weak teams. You typically get enough chances to rest with Lum due to nobody spamming status at you more than once or twice, and you live long enough to get off your rest.
