XY OU Gales of the North - Suicune RMT.

Hello welcome to Rmt. Recently Suicune has been a pokemon picking up a bit of momentum, with the banning of the 2 aliens, the metagame has shifted a bit away from Hyper offensive to a more bulky metagame. Suicune is naturally a tanky pokemon, with 100/115/115 defences he can take a hit from both sides of the spectrum with little fuss, but suicunes key to success lies in the set "crocune". The infamous crocune set from 23rd Generation was a combination of rest, sleep talk, calm mind and surf. Since then suicunes bulk has gotten less prestigious as new bulky and offensive pokemon enter the metagame and his base 90 attack is mediocre by modern standards and leaves much to be desired. while 5th gen gave him the gift of scald, it also took away the ability to rest talk, leaving suicune powerless in the new metagame. However 6th gen has granted the return of sleep mechanics and the return of the crocune set, new and improved. With scald to burn physical attacks, deal damage and boost his already good defences (pesudo(ly)) and calm mind to boost his special - attack and defence, suicune once again returns to the fold as one of the better boosting tanks in the metagame.

This teams to help suicune to support his crocune set in order to gain easy acess to a sweep.

Naturally suicune is the first pick of the team and with him poses a question, what to do about other bulky waters, electric type and mega venasaur/amoongus. The answer was pretty simple, with out agieslash to trouble it, latios stood out the prime contendor.

So with latios's help, a good few of suicunes counters are covered, especially mega-veunasaur. Speak of the devil and he shall appear to deal with numberous threats such as bulky waters, keldeo and act as a physical wall comes mega venusaur.

looking like dragons can potentially be an issue and i have 2 solid resistances to it's weaknesses + a fairy type bring's multiple resistances to the table, so here comes azumaril to add adition physical attack prowess to the table.

With the addition of azumaril, dragon type are largely covered, now it would be appropirate to add a steel type to balance the typing across the board, heatran springs to mind as a solid offensive choice with many of his weaknesses covered by the team and his streangth and typing addign to the team with a fire/water/grass core and fairy/steel/dragon.

With the addition of heatrean the team seems to be shaping up nicely, but a physically attacking mon would come in handy, right now I have no choice scarf user as latios is life orb and this pokemons stern coverage and fighting/rock stab will serve the team well, with his speed allowing plays to revenge kill.

With the addition of terrakion the team seems ready and rearing to go. With weakness seeming to be covered, with out further a due the team and it's move sets.

Leftovers
Bold
252 Hp / 252 Def / 4 SpA
-Scald
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

-Calm mind

Suicune is back with his premiere Calm mind set. Unlike many other calm minders suicune has both typing and bulk, with a passable special attack. This allows suicune to set up calm mind relatively easily, while taking a hit and resting off the damage. Scald was suicune gift from 5th gen, allowing him to attack and potentially burn targets, allowing him a pesudo boost to hi already good defence. Calm mind boosts his special attack and defense and allow suicune to tnak and sweep more effectively on the special side as investment as purely made to the physical side for this reason. Rest Talk allows suicune to heal status and health at the same time, in addition to being able to pesudo clam mind or scald, while resting.

Life Orb
Timid
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Hp
-Draco Meteor
-Hidden power fire
-Psyshock
-Defog

Latios ha greatly improved with agieslash gone, without the ghost, it no longer requires fire or ground type moves to deal with it and can instead use thunderbolt to hit would eb counter azumaril harder as well as other bulk waters such as gyarados. The set is a standard life orb, duel stab with maximum investment in special offenses, with defog to clear hazards over roost as the rest of the team is grounded.

@venusaurite
Bold
252 Hp / 240 Def / 16 Speed
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb
-Leech Seed
-Synthesis

Mega Venasaur like suicune is very bulky pokemon, acting as a physical tank and check to bulky waters and electric types, his thick fat ability lets him take on threats that normally weak with grass types with ice and fir relatively easily. The set has the standard spreed with leech seed over sleep powder to allow healing against would be counters instead of crippling just one as the team can deal with venusaurs counter relatively easily.

Choice Band
Adamant
88 Hp / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 164 Spe
-Waterfall
-Aqua Jet
-Knock Off
-Play Rough

Azumaril, it was a choice between the two fairies of ou and azumaril was preferred for it's ability to hurt special walls hard. With venasaur and latios covring it's water type weaknesses and heatran covering it's poison, (which doesn't matter much). The set is the standard banded set, with knock off to punish would be counters instead of super power. Azumarils fairy typing also allows it to check and counter many dragons as well as threats such as tyranitar.

Leftovers
Calm
248 Hp / 220 SpD / 40 Spe
-Lava plume
-Roar
-Stealth Rock
-Will-o-Wisp

Heatran is the teams fire type, steel type, setter of the stealth rock and special sponge. The set it's self is pretty standard with lava plume to chance a burn, eves to allow him to outspeed and cripple thing's such as tyranitar and co, will-o-wisp to cripple said threats. Stealth rock as mentioned for the team as Sr is stealth rock after all.

choice Scarf
Naive
252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SpA
-Stone edge
-Close Combat
-Earthquake

-Hidden power ice

Yet another pokemon that's had a boon from the banning of agielslash, terrkion has mighty coverage in his stabs alone. but even more with x-scizor and earth quick providing adition coverage. the choice between rock slide and x-scizor came down to revenging weakened lati easier and stone edge is essential for killing + dd charizard. Te set is otherwise standard and the choice scarf set is being used to revenge various sets and always a choice scarfer is useful, a set without agielash which it acceles in.

Cool team here, but ive got a few suggestions to someof your sets. On your Latios you said you have thunderbolt to hit Azumarill harder. While this may be true it will only 2hko Azumarill no matter what set it's running. Psyshock already 2hkos all Azumarill sets and might even outdamage thunderbolt against the Assault Vest set, which is arguably Azumarills best set. So with that in mind, i would suggest replacing thunderbolt in favor of hidden power fire. Hidden power fire allows Latios to lure in and take out Ferrothorn, who is one of Suicunes biggest counters. Hidden power fire also has the benefit of luring in and taking out scizpr and damaging Bisharp. Also, i would recommend changing up your. Terrakion as well. Earthquake and X-Scissor are pretty useless on something with such good coverage between its stabs alone. Therefore, I would replace them both with hidden power ice and quick attack. Hidden power ice destroys Gliscor and Landorus-T, probably the two best answers to Terrakion. Quick attack has the benefit of picking off weakened targets, which makes it slightly less useless than Earthquake and X-Scissor. You would also want to change. Terrakion's nature from Jolly to Naive.

While I agree with HP Ice on Terrakion for a really nice bait move, I'd keep X-Scissor for Bulky Celebi which could otherwise deal with Terrak adaquaately, It's situational, yes, but you're really only going to be using the two stabs anyways.

You might want to put Roar as opposed to Protect on Heatran as it allows you to stop set up. Protect is more for a toxic set at any rate.

You make interesting points, ill go for the hp on latios, hand't realised he could 2ko with pyshock, my calcs may have been off. Terrkion, I did some calcs for, should be able to make landerous-t and gliscor think twice, but it fails to 2ko lando, which is a pitty. Not sure about quick attack, but I'll try to see how it goes but it does seem rather weak, even to pick off threats.

Edit:In agreement with roar on heatran.

Thank you very much for your rate, it's very much appreciated. Hope to make a good case through example for suicune's place as an A- rank in today's metagme.
