Good Grindcore?

Alright, so a few years ago I was introduced to the beautiful mess that is grind. It's loud, fast, and angry and makes for some of the best live perfomances ever. Anyone that has been to a grindcore or hardcore show can tell you that it's like no other live show they have ever been too.

At first I started listening to some local bands that really aren't worth mention. Then I started getting introduced to bigger names such as Ed Gein and Pig Destroyer. Lately, I kinda stopped listening to anything with screaming but I know there is still great stuff out there. So I made this thread for people to discuss or suggest good grindcore bands.

holy fucking fuck

how do you manage to get cooler and cooler every day?

www.myspace.com/seeyounexttuesday see you next tuesday is one of my favourite grindcore acts without question, one of my favourite concert experiences.

http://myspace.com/fromasecondstorywindow from a second story window is also absolutely amazing. their bassist is total crazies. he was hanging from the rafters, then he jumped off onto me, which wasnt too pleasant, hahaha. really solid shit. lead singer's one of the nciest guys ive ever met. list to i tried voodoo once!

http://myspace.com/tonydanzatapdanceextravaganza the tony danza tapdance extravaganza have one of the best names in music history. fucking awesome grind. listen to i am the ocean.

http://myspace.com/giganticbrain FUCK YEAH, CYBERGRIND. cities shelled out. this guy is amazing. a sci-fi nerd, an electric guitar, and a computer combine to form a hundred-song concept album about a gigantic alien brain taking over the world. WHEEEEEEE

from here on down is mainly more punk/noise grind than metal stuff.

http://myspace.com/xbxrx xbxrx arent exactly grind, theyre more noise, but theyve got a lot of grindy elements. if youre not THAT into screaming, then youll enjoy this, as it doesnt have that much of it. listen to make force, its very good stuff. the people in the band are... really, really weird. its quite awesome.

http://myspace.com/thelocust their myspace is down now, but check back, as the locust make the fucking best noise-grind-whatever shit in town. a gimmick involving dressing up like locusts is pretty excellent too!

http://myspace.com/holymolar hahaha holy molar. what a name. listen to youve had more kids pulled out of that thing than a burning orphanage. this shit is really weird in the vein of the locust. in fact, its like... the same members, barring one i think. different style though. kinda grindy, more noisecore shit though. very good for a listen. plus the dress up like dentists!

http://myspace.com/somegirls the dna will have its say is the choice here. once again, members of the locust/holy molar, but its way more metal-grind and way less punk/noise-grind. cant go wrong.

http://myspace.com/headwoundcity lead singer of the blood brothers, a couple members from some girls/the locust/holy molar, and someone else from the yeah yeah yeahs. what could go wrong? prick class is the song to listen to here.

yeah personally im more into the punk side of grindcore, since thats kinda where it came from to begin with. for original power violence/grindcore, look for stuff like dropdead, charles bronson, and man is the bastard.

I know a lot of grind bands from friends, but I'm not that into it. I just don't dig harsh vocals.

Grindcore is the only -core genre I can really tolerate. Mostly because I really dig death metal.

Some good grindcore:
S.O.B.
Hard to Swallow (awesome)
Aborted Jesus
Fuck...I'm Dead (awesome)
Dead (the best)
Lord Gore (awesome)
Agoraphobic Nosebleed (awesome
Agathocles
NAPALM FUCKING DEATH (classic!)
Nuclear Death
Pig Destroyer
Extreme Noise Terror

And some bad grindcore:
Rotten Sound (ewwwwwwww)

I might not be 100% correct on the genres, but fuck genres. I haven't really got into much cybergrind or noise yet, I don't know if I will/want to either.

genghis tron, man. they're just fucking incredible, i can't describe their music but its a lot different than other grind bands yet so similar. check out either cloak of love EP or dead mountain mouth, both are great records.

ohhhh shit ec (yeah i called you ec) i completely forgot you were a genghis tron fan.

yeah, how could i have forgotten them? top-notch cybergrind, i like them even more than i like agoraphobic nosebleed, most likely for the excellent ambient sections in a lot of their stuff.

When I saw Genghis Tron live they played a whole set of just cloak of love songs and one other song I did'nt know. Awesome show man and crazy energy.

I like silly poppy casio-grind which is actually not related all that much to grind but still here goes, check out Cutting Pink With Knives, Trencher, The Locust, An Albatross. Genghis Tron are awesome as always, new album will hopefully be out this year!

For screamy chaotic stuff there's the older emo violence bands, Orchid, Usurp Synapse, Reversal of Man. Especially Orchid, that band rules. Also, Bucket Full of Teeth, member(s?) of Orchid, with their avant-grind-pv-whatever. IV is an excellent album. Graf Orlock are another screamy band that could pass as grindcore. Their albums are full of action movie voice samples.

I don't know all that much about proper grind but I find a lot of bands interesting. One of these is a little band called Triumph of Gnomes. I should get on soulseek...

daughters are really awesome. but as weird as it sounds, i prefer the stuff that ISNT on canada songs, with the cleaner vocals. it just strikes me as more original, as their hard grindy stuff doesnt bring anything new to the table.

oh and the lead singer likes to deepthroat mics, its a little creepy ?_?

It is quite original. Not saying I don't enjoy Hell Songs (I generally listen to it more than Canada Songs), but I'm just a huge fan of The Ghost With The Most :)

on a related note, converge are incredible. they're really metalcore but either way they are great. even if you don't like metalcore check them out, they're better than the average metalcore band.

Seconding Ghengis Tron as being awesome. I like Cloak of Love more than Dead Mountain Mouth, but both are great.

im amazed we have such a huge genghis tron fanbase on this site.

theyre the only cybergrind band ive seen live, it was a really wacky experience. furthermore i have a sweet genghis tron shirt with a BEAR ON IT

Sorry Glen, I have to disagree with you this time because i love Canada songs. Especially since Pants, Meet Shit is probably one of my favorite songs by them.

Also, I have a question for any of you Daughters fans. What the fuck are C.H.U.D.S.?

I juts realized one of my friends used that as a name when he was insulting an old lady yesterday. It went something like, "That old lady is a fucking chud". Interestingly he doesn't listen to Daughters so I'm sure that it has to mean something =/

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chud

a chud is either a "Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller", a piece of shit (literally), or a general (BAN ME PLEASE). now, as to what a C.H.U.D is, it's probably the first one. C.H.U.D. is from a pulp movie of the same name, and the C.H.U.D.S are those cannibalistic blah things. they took that title from a movie, basically.
