is slime monster

QC: Calloflochie / Royalty / Kitten Milk
GP: frenzyplant / fleurdyleurse

note: frenzyplant stamped Kitten Milk's AM check.

Overview
########

  • Does a really good job tanking Special hits thanks to that monstrous 150 base Special Defense and 90 base HP.
  • Can hit hard and effective with a base 110 Special Attack.
  • Has good Attack, is one of the few Pokemon that has its attacking stats almost equal to each other.
  • Is able to take out its weaknesses thanks to a wide, covering movepool.
  • Does have access to Gooey, which in other words 'boosts Goodra's speed' when the opponent makes contact. It has also access to Sap Sipper, which adds an immunity for Goodra.
  • Goodra is outsped by all other Dragon type Pokémon in its tier, making it no match for physical Dragon types.
  • Goodra does not have any reliable recovery move, so it has to stick to Rest if it wants to recover.

Assault Vest
########
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Sludge Bomb
move 4: Dragon Tail
ability: Sap Sipper
item: Assault Vest
nature: Modest
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA

Moves
========

  • Draco Meteor is Goodra's main move; it has tremendous power and Goodra gets STAB from it. However, you can't depend on the powerful Dragon-typed move, because it drops Goodra's special attack by 2 stages.
  • Fire Blast grants high base power and coverage against Ice and Steel Pokemon such as Forretress and Froslass
  • Sludge Bomb has a good 30% chance to leave poison on the opponent and also gives coverage against Goodra's Fairy-type weakness.
  • Dragon Tail is a good STAB option to stop set-up threats from working.

Set Details
========

  • Sap Sipper is chosen over Gooey because it gives Goodra an immunity and an attack boost that boosts up Dragon Tail.
  • Assault Vest gives an extra defensive boost to the special side of Goodra, which allows to take any unboosted Special hit from any opponent.
  • 252 EVs invested in Special Attack plus a Modest Nature ensure that Goodra hits at its hardest.
  • 252 HP and 4 Defense EVs add up to Goodra's terrifying bulk.

Usage Tips
========

  • Switch Goodra in when a special Pokemon is on the field, such as Roserade and Milotic
  • Another good option for switching in Goodra is when the opponent is greeding, so it can force switches by using Dragon Tail

Team Options
========

  • Pokemon that can easily switch in physical Dragon-type attackers, such as Forretress and Florges will work; Goodra really can't stand up to these Pokemon.
  • Any Pokemon that can lay down entry hazards, such as Swampert and Roserade will be excellent, as Goodra can easily force switches by using Dragon Tail.
  • Slow Volt Switch or U-Turn will help Goodra too, since it gives Goodra a safe switch so it can launch more hits.

Other Options
########

  • Rest + Sleep Talk
  • Thunderbolt/Thunder
  • Ice Beam/Blizzard
  • Dragon Pulse (less power, but more dependable)
  • Flamethrower (also less power, but more dependable)
  • Sludge Wave (more power, but less chance of poisoning)
  • Physical Choice Band
  • Choice Specs
  • Curse

Checks & Counters
########

**Bulky Fairy types** Fairy types such as Florges or Togekiss can easily stall Goodra out without effort, or just KO it directly with a Fairy-type move.
**Special walls** Special walls such as Blissey tanks Goodra's hits and can stall it out after.
**Strong physical attackers** Strong, physical attackers with an advantage over Goodra such as Haxorus, Krookodile, Mienshao and Psyshock Alakazam can easily get rid of Goodra.

Overview
########

Goodra's monstrous 150 base Special Defense and 90 base HP help it excel at taking special attacks; it can also hit quite hard with its base 110 Special Attack. Goodra also has access to a wide movepool that allows it to break through many threats. Its ability, Sap Sipper, adds an immunity to Grass-type moves like Giga Drain and Sleep Powder. However, one downside of using Goodra is that it's outsped by all other Dragon-type Pokemon in the tier, making it easy to revenge kill. Also, Goodra lacks a more reliable recovery option other than Rest.

Assault Vest
########
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Sludge Bomb
move 4: Dragon Tail / Thunderbolt / Power Whip
ability: Sap Sipper
item: Assault Vest
nature: Modest
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA

Moves
========

Draco Meteor is a STAB move that has tremendous power and is Goodra's main move. However, you can't spam Draco Meteor, as it drops Goodra's Special Attack by 2 stages, weakening all of its special moves. Fire Blast has high Base Power and grants coverage against Steel-type Pokemon, such as Forretress and Jirachi, that are otherwise eager to switch in. Sludge Bomb covers Goodra's weakness to Fairy-types a bit, and can also spread poison. Dragon Tail is a good phazing move that does a decent amount of damage and stops most special threats from setting up. Thunderbolt also has great Base Power and grants coverage against Water- and Flying-type Pokemon. Power Whip hits Ground-type Pokemon such as Swampert and Quagsire harder.

Set Details
========

Sap Sipper is chosen over Gooey because it grants Goodra an immunity to Grass-type moves, as well as an Attack boost. Assault Vest allows Goodra to tank any unboosted special hit in any matchup. 252 EVs invested in Special Attack and a Modest Nature ensure that Goodra hits as hard as it can. The EVs invested in HP and Defense augment Goodra's terrifying bulk.

Usage Tips
========

Switch Goodra in when a specially based Pokemon, such as Roserade and Milotic, is on the field, as it can tank their hits and strike back with a super effective move. Another good time to switch in Goodra is when the opposing special threat, such as Suicune, is boosting their stats, because it can force switches by using Dragon Tail. Goodra is a good switch-in to Grass-types, as their STAB moves do no damage and boost Goodra's Dragon Tail.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that can easily switch into physical Dragon-type attackers, such as Forretress and Granbull, will work as well; Goodra really can't stand up to these Pokemon. Entry hazard setters, such as Swampert and Roserade, are excellent, as Goodra can easily phaze with Dragon Tail. low Volt Switch or U-turn users will help Goodra too, as they grant Goodra a safe switch in, allowing it to launch a powerful attack next turn.

Other Options
########

Running both Rest and Sleep Talk gives Goodra recovery and can be used in combination with Dragon Tail, as Sleep Talk can use Dragon Tail without negative priority. Thunder offers the same coverage as Thunderbolt, but with higher base power, more chance to paralyze, and less accuracy. The same option exists with Flamethrower; it has less power than Fire Blast but is more accurate. Ice Beam or Blizzard can be used as additional coverage, but they are mostly redundant. Sludge Wave, on the other hand, has more power than Sludge Bomb, but less chance to poison. Dragon Pulse can be chosen over Draco Meteor; it has less power, but is more dependable and doesn't cripple Goodra with the Special Attack drop after. A physical Choice Band set is decent, as Goodra has good base Attack and a good movepool for it, but Goodra's special sets are generally better. Choice Specs is also a decent option, but being locked into one move is generally unreliable. Curse is an option to boost Goodra's Attack and Defense, but it isn't really worth it because the Speed drop makes Goodra more vulnerable against slow, offensive attackers. Gooey is an option to slow down physical attackers, or Hydration can be used on a Rain team in conjuction with Rest.

Checks & Counters
########

**Bulky Fairy types** Fairy-types such as Florges or Togekiss can easily stall Goodra out, or just threaten it directly with a Fairy-type move.

**Special walls** Special walls, such as Blissey, tank Goodra's hits and can stall it out.

**Strong physical attackers** Strong, physical attackers with an advantage over Goodra such as Haxorus, Krookodile, and Mienshao can easily get rid of it. The same applies for special moves that target Goodra's Defense, such as Alakazam's Psyshock.

Double posting for:

Before I'm moving this into QC, does anyone have any tips?
Should I include another set?

Thanks!

-I'd just add into C&C that strong physical attackers are more the cause of Goodra's death. Stuff like Haxorus and Flygon work but others such as Mienshao, Krook, even things like Psyshock Alakazam can give Goodra problems so yeah change 'quick attackers' to 'strong physical attackers'.
-Also make Sludge Wave, Sludge Bomb; i'd rather have a 30% chance to poison Florges on the switch in than sit there and get walled by it.
-While you're at it, give Florges it's own section as being able to switch in to basically everything Goodra has to offer due to it's tremendous special bulk.
-Also add Special walls to C&C like Blissey and Jirachi, the latter being able to come in on anything not named Fire Blast and the former being able to come in on anything.

Once all that is done and written up QC 1/3

**Florges** Florges is immune to Goodra's STAB and can take any other hit with ease, including Sludge Bomb, that has a little chance of 3HKOing. Meanwhile, Florges can either set-up or strike and kill it with a Moonblast.
**Bulky Fairy types** Fairy types such as Aromatisse can easily stall Goodra out without effort.
Aromatisse doesnt stall out Goodra at all since it usually runs a phys def spread.
252+ SpA Goodra Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 56 SpD Aromatisse: 200-236 (49.2 - 58.1%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO

remove Florges its own section and put it under "Bulky Fairy types", either remove Aromatisse or mention that it has to be spdef spread(which i dont think even beats Goodra 1v1 if rocks up and Sludge Bomb gets the poison chance, 252+ SpA Goodra Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Aromatisse: 150-178 (36.9 - 43.8%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and poison damage)

done. Swapped Aromatisse with Togekiss, since it's UU and Sludge Bomb only has a 35% chance to 3HKO a defensive kiss.

  • OO still has incorrrect formatting, look at a completed analysis for an example please
  • florges doesn't easily switch in to physical dragon types (in team options). in fact, no fairies do, given that physical dragon types basically = haxorus, and that almost always runs poison jab now. mention granbull or aromatisse if anything.
  • thunderbolt and power whip need to be slashed on the main set. part of what makes goodra moderately threatening is coverage, and this needs to be reflected. there really isn't that standard of a goodra set that only runs those four moves.
  • usage tips is far too short and weak. devote at least a sentence to goodra's interaction with sap sipper (e.g. the ability to switch in on roserade, shaymin, rotom-mow, amoonguss, spore...), and then talk about other special attackers it can switch in to. "greeding' isn't a term, much less a technical one, so you're going to have to be a lot more specific.
  • if you really don't think gooey is worth slashing on the main set, at least put an in-depth explanation of why in OO, as well as a mention of hydration

do all this and i'll look at it again

I have implemented your changes.

Also congratulations for becoming a QC member.

Thank you :D

Overview: This needs a major revamp. one of your sentences literally just stops in the middle, the prose is sloppy and unspecific, and some of the information is repeated one sentence later. You spend multiple sentences writing about gooey vs sap sipper, but gooey is only in OO, so it shouldn't even be mentioned in the overview.

Moves: Fire blast is not for coverage against ice types, and froslass is sort of irrelevant in what you're trying to say. stick to specific defensive pokemon like forretress or jirachi that might switch in. Dragon Tail is not run for the purpose of having a physical STAB, it's for phazing set-up sweepers and racking up hazard damage.

Usage Tips: this is still very flawed. the advice about switching in to boosting set-up sweepers in order to dragon tail them out sounds good in theory, but when most every set-up sweeper that's common in the tier (togekiss, lucario, mienshao, physical infernape, haxorus) can easily OHKO goodra after they've boosted once, that's really horrible advice. focus on specific things that it can phaze (suicune) instead.

I'd also recommend that you read through this and try and alter any grammatical / run-on / spelling issues before GP gets a crack at it. There are quite a few obvious grammar and spelling issues that they really shouldn't have to deal with.

sorry, no stamp yet =(

just a couple more things / clarifications!

Moves: remove "Ice" from "ice and steel pokemon", remove that Dragon Tail is a good physical stab and just say that it's good for phazing out and does decent damage

everything else looks significantly better! it's still a little bit awkward, but GP can help with that. Do this little stuff and i'll stamp =)
