EDIT: This thread shouldn't even exist; it only does because I foolishly went and made it without making any sort of case for it, assuming it was in the reservable list. In hindsight, it's not viable in UU, and having also asked a member of the QC team about it, it doesn't deserve an analysis.

Size matters not!

Overview
########
  • Good physical bulk
  • Granted useful resistances/immunities by its typing
  • Decent Speed
  • Movepool that features helpful auxiliary options; useful in conjunction with its decent Speed stat
  • Frisk can let you get an idea of what set your opponent might be running
  • Suffers weaknesses to some common attacking types
  • Poor HP
  • Mediocre special bulk
  • Lacks reliable recovery
  • Is not capable of doing very much to Pokemon who are immune to its primary utility choices (Leech Seed and Will-O-Wisp)
  • Trevenant is considered superior thanks to greater special bulk and recovery options

SubSeed
########
name: SubSeed
move 1: Will-O-Wisp
move 2: Leech Seed
move 3: Protect / Pain Split
move 4: Substitute
item: Leftovers
ability: Frisk
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly

Moves
========
  • Will-O-Wisp is an excellent choice for crippling special attackers, and Gourgeist-S has the Speed to burn its opponent swiftly
  • Leech Seed acts as a source of recovery for Gourgeist-S and inflicts troublesome passive damage on the opponent
  • Protect forms part of a stalling combination with Leech Seed and Substitute that lets Gourgeist-S repeatedly wear away at the opponent whilst draining their HP and receiving health from Leftovers. It can also prove useful for scouting out any super effective attacks that Gourgeist-S might otherwise be on the receiving end of.
  • Pain Split is Gourgeist-S' closest thing it has to a reliable means of recovery, and can be used to gain back some much-needed HP when it starts to dwindle
  • Substitute is wonderful for prevention of status and taking the brunt of the opponent's assaults. It plays a key part in the frustrating stalling combination that Gourgeist-S employs
Set Details
========
  • Maximum Speed investment and a Jolly nature lets Gourgeist-S make the most of its Speed tier and outpace boosting-natured base 95 Pokémon
  • Maximum HP investment ensures that Gourgeist-S' bulk is rounded out, and compensates for Gourgeist-S' naturally low HP
  • Leftovers is chosen for passively recovering HP every turn; it also works well in conjunction with Protect
Usage Tips
========
  • Gourgeist-S' typing means that it can be brought in easily on a predicted use of a move like Rapid Spin
  • Powerful special attackers tend to overwhelm Gourgeist-S thanks to its middling special bulk, so it should be kept away from them
  • Infliction of Will-O-Wisp and Leech Seed should be prioritised; Gourgeist-S does best putting its utility to options to work immediately
  • After using Leech Seed, alternate between Protect and Substitute to stall out Leech Seed damage, Leftovers recovery, and possibly burn damage

congratulations for managing to convey why this analysis shouldn't exist in the overview

a decent speed is not enough to give it a niche, if you want a fast subseeder just use shaymin. gourgeist is not an effective spinblocker either as it can only really spinblock against forretress and tentacruel, it 100% loses to mega-blastoise, doesn't really enjoy taking a knock off from donphan. sorry, but this just isn't viable.
