H²O, a Hyper Offense Rain Team
Hello everyone, and welcome to my OU RMT. This team is a rain team and has gone through many changes before it became what it is today. It is probably my most successful team as it peaked in the 700's on PO(which is good to me). Anyway, without further ado, here is H²O!
Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Encore
- Toxic
- Ice Beam
Politoed is here for its ability to set up rain when it is sent into battle. I run a defensive variant as it allows me to disrupt my opponent and spread poison around their team. Surf is there for STAB and extra power in the rain, and is used over Scald for two reasons. First, is that I will usually be poisoning my opponent first, so the burn chance isn't helpful. Also, the extra power in Surf has proven useful several times. Encore is used to trap my opponent into a status move, which will then cause them to switch out and get poisoned by Toxic. Ice Beam is for the extra coverage, most notably used against Gliscor and Dragons, especially Dragonite.
Scizor (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost
Basic Swords Dance Scizor set. With Technician, Bug Bite reaches 90 base power, and Bullet Punch gets up to 60, both of which can do a lot of damage after a single Swords Dance. Roost is there mainly as a filler, but is often proved helpful to restore health and set up more Sword Dances to sweep. Bug Bite and Bullet Punch are used for STAB and power, which also provids decent coverage. Bullet Punch will allow me to outspeed faster Pokemon, most notably stuff that has set up that wiould otherwise sweep my team.
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Thunder
- Psyshock
Jirachi plays a unique role on the team. Generally I would switch Jirachi into an attack that it resists, and then proceed to set up Substitutes and Calm Minds as they switch out. Thunder is a strong attack the gets perfect accuracy in the rain, and has pretty good coverage with Psyshock, which is there as a STAB attack and for special walls such as Blissey. Thunder also has a 60% chance to paralyze thanks to Serene Grace, which will allow me to outspeed faster threats and set up on them before proceeding to KO them. The EV's in HP bring it up to 404, allowing it to make 101 HP Substitutes, which lets it take 2 hits of Seismic Tosses and Night Shades.
Mamoswine (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Icicle Spear
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
Good old Scarf Mamoswine. I used him a lot in UU, but now that he's in OU I can only use him here. Earthquake is there for STAB and power, and is super effective against the two other weather starters, Ninetales and Tyranitar. Stone Edge provides good coverage with Earthquake, as well as with Superpower, which is used mainly for opposing Blissey and other Normal types. Icicle Spear might seem strange, but it is actually good most of the time. It's power can range from 50, 75, 100, or 125. However, it can also break Substitutes, and also Dragonite's Multiscale, whih is why it is used over Icicle Crash(along with the fact that Icicle Crash cant be used with Superpower.)
Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
My second Scarfer. Rotom-W gets great coverage in the rain, as Hydro Pump gets boosted and Thunder gets perfect accuracy. Volt Switch can help me get momentum, although in this team it isn't used alongside U-Turn. Trick is used to cripple opposing Pokemon, most notably status Pokemon with one attack such as Ferrothorn and Blissey. Other than that, this is the standard set for Scarf Rotom-W, so there isn't much else to say.
Tornadus (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Hurricane
- Rain Dance
- Focus Blast
Lastly, I have Tornadus. This is probably my favorite member of the team as it can help my momentum and sweep at the same time. Prankster allows it to have priority on Taunt and Rain Dance, which can help my stop the opposing Pokemon from setting up or restore my weather, respectively, both times going first. Hurricane gets perfect accuracy in rain, but only gets 50% accuracy in the sun, which is another reason that Rain Dance is there. With Life Orb, Hurricane has the power to KO a large variety of Pokemon, many that aren't expecting to be KO'd so easily. Focus Blast is there for coverage, and can KO Tyranitar, sometimes even in the sand, depending on what kind of Tyranitar.
Well, that's the team. I hope you enjoyed reading this, and would especially appreciate it if you took the time to rate it so that I can help improve this team.
