HECTOR vs Jibaku: Uber Warstory

Status
Not open for further replies.
I started playing the Uber ladder yesterday, and quiclky rose into the Top 10. During that hourney, I had one battle that just pumped me up, against a very formidable opponnet well known to anybody who browses these forums, and even to some people that don't. That opponnet, was none other than Jibaku.

I knew it wouldn't be an easy match, especially playing in his territory, Ubers. I prayed for my streak to continue. This would be the real test as if I was a decent Uber battler. Lets begin:

My team (TU-HECTOR):

Jibaku's team (Last pokemon will remain secret)

Jibaku's moves will look like this.
TU-HECTOR's moves will look like this.
other text will look like this.
Scores will be shown after each KO.
Leftovers will be omitted after its shown first time.

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause

Jibaku sent out Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
TU-HECTOR sent out Darkrai (lvl 100 Darkrai).
TU-HECTOR: gl
Jibaku: okay

My first reaction as to when the window opened up was: Oh Snapz! I only had to read the name and I got intimidated. I respect Jibaku as an Uber battler as I know he is one of the best players. I also know he wrote a nice detailed guide on the Uber Metagame which basically helped me get started in it.

My second reaction was: God fuck Jirachi!! Everyone knows Darkrai carries Dark Void, reason for him to switch. So knowing that he would switch, I go for the free Substitute. My Darkrai is a Focus Puncher. As for Jirachi against the rest of my team, lets say its a pretty big threat and very hard for me to defeat.

Jibaku switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!

Darkrai used Substitute.
Darkrai lost 25% of its health.
Darkrai made a substitute!
The sun continues to shine.
Darkrai's leftovers restored its health a little!
Darkrai restored 6% of its health.

Alright everything went as planned. Now, I knew his Groudon was a Restalker at this point, since its the only possible reason as to why he would switch-in, but the fact that Groudon's STAB EQ can hurt my team, I'm leaning towards putting it to sleep, so that there's that low 33% chance of it using Earthquake.

Darkrai used Dark Void.
Groudon fell asleep!
Groudon is fast asleep!
The sun continues to shine.
Groudon lost 12% of its health.
Groudon restored its health a little
Groudon restored 6% of its health with

Alright, sweet. Everything went as planned, and I knew what was coming now, what I consider the best Darkrai counter in the game, Jirachi. But of course, predicting this early in the game is useless since he may have something else in his arsenal.

Jibaku switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Darkrai used Dark Pulse.
Jirachi lost 26% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.

Alright, so basically, Jirachi is 5HKOd by Dark Pulse. WOOT! That's amazing! But of couse, Jirachi carries Wish, so basically no use in trying that. Though 5HKOing is epic win. Anyways, I still have my Sub up, so hellz why don't I stay in and see what happens. I don't know what type of Jirachi it is, so I'll just have to find out.

Darkrai used Dark Pulse.
Jirachi lost 25% of its health.
Jirachi used Body Slam.
The substitute took damage for Darkrai!
Darkrai's substitute faded!
The sun continues to shine.

Alright Body Slam. First thing that came to mind was, Obi's Jirachi (Or Aldaron's, I always confuse them xD). Anyways, at this point I was thinking it carried Stealth Rock, U-turn and Wish. But still its unknown. My Darkrai right now has absolutely no business against this Jirachi with no sub up, so its time to switch to my Sun Beast Ugly THingy (a.k.a, my only Jirachi killer)

TU-HECTOR switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
Jirachi used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
The sun continues to shine.

Yeah that was pretty much expected, so right now I was sure of the Jirachi's set and I have my Groudon out. I'm running the support set, so I could start setting up my Rocks, but I have no idea what he has, and he probably is expecting a Stealth Rock, but I decide to hit whatever is coming in hard.

Jirachi used U-turn.
Groudon lost 10% of its health.
Quilky Way has entered the room.
Jibaku switched in Mewtwo (lvl 100 Mewtwo).
Mewtwo is exerting its pressure!
Groudon used Earthquake.
Mewtwo lost 48% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.
Mewtwo's leftovers restored its health a little!
Mewtwo restored 6% of its health.

Alright, Mewtwo. Now I did expect my Earthquake to do a lot more, but as soon as I saw Leftovers, I knew this was a different set. But, I did not know Jibaku ran some crazy Mewtwo set as most Uber players know already. I was expecting a Calm Mind variant, so I decide to go to the Star (pun intended) of the team.

TU-HECTOR switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Mewtwo used Will-o-wisp.
Jirachi was burned!
The sun continues to shine.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
Jirachi was hurt by its burn!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.

Get it? Star? No? Darn. Anyways, I have a burned Jirachi now, and I still have no idea of what crazy set he's running. I'm thinking he'll switch, so nothing better to do than scout his team.

Mewtwo used Taunt.
Jirachi fell for the taunt!
Jirachi used U-turn.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Mewtwo lost 24% of its health.
TU-HECTOR switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
The sun faded.
Rain began to fall!
Pointed stones dug into Kyogre.
Kyogre lost 12% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Kyogre's leftovers restored its health a little!
Kyogre restored 6% of its health.

Alright, so Taunt is his second move. Man, what a weird-ass set. The crit was pretty irrelevant throughout the match. Now I have my Kyogre out, and I'm pretty sure he isn't packing something like Thunder ( I don't even know if it learns Thunder). My Kyogre is a ResTalker, but he still hits hard despite no Special Attack EVs. He's probably going to switch, I think to myself, so lets just hit whatever comes in with Surf, see what his counter is.

Jibaku switched in Latias (lvl 100 Latias ?).
Kyogre used Surf.
It's not very effective...
Latias lost 20% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.

Latias took that Surf like a man. I really despise Latias, which is why I use one because its so hella annoying ^___^;. Anyways, my first switch-in to Latias is always Jirachi, but Jirachi is burned, so basically Latias can be a problem. My Jirachi is still pretty healthy so why not go to it.

TU-HECTOR switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Latias used Thunder.
Jirachi lost 35% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Jirachi was hurt by its burn!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.

Alright, after that Thunder, and with the burn, I know Jirachi won't be lasting too long. I'm running a Toxic-Stall set on this guy to ruin a lot of Setting-Up pokemon, such as Calm Mind Lati@s, Mewtwo, etc. So, lets poison the switch-in for extra fun =).

Jibaku switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
The rain stopped.
The sun began to shine!
Jirachi used Toxic.
But it failed!
The sun continues to shine.
Jirachi was hurt by its burn!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.

Nice prediction by Jibaku, even though he only saw one of my moves xD. So right now, I'm praying for his Sleep Talk to choose Dragon Claw/Rest, because I want to pull the Wish off and mantain Jirachi alive as long as possible.

Groudon is fast asleep!

He crit the Dragon Claw, but I managed to survive, and now, I can safely protect, and get Jirachi to a respectable amount of health, or so I thought XD.

The wish came true!
Jirachi restored 50% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.
Jirachi was hurt by its burn!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.

Jirachi has to switch out now, because he now has the chance of EQing me to death, so I decide to go to the only Levitator I have just to avoid this from happenning. But...

Jibaku switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
TU-HECTOR switched in Latias (lvl 100 Latias ?).
Pointed stones dug into Latias.
Latias lost 12% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

Ouch, bad switch-in for me. Basically Latias has no business against Jirachi, so Latias is obviously coming out, and Groudon is coming in.

TU-HECTOR switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
Pointed stones dug into Groudon.
Groudon lost 6% of its health.
Jirachi used Body Slam.
Groudon lost 13% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

Body Slam for minimum damage, and no parahax, YAY!. BAsically I knew he had a Latias in there, not afraid of switching in to Groudon, so I decide to get my rocks set up now. At this point of the game, I'm basically thinking, I'm gonna get raped so hard if I keep playing so obviously, so I think its time to start playing the prediction game. Jibaku is a very goods battler, so time to stop being Captain Obvious and transform into.... HULK! Nah not really, but Hulk is cool, though Batman is the shitz, anyways on to the battle.

Jirachi used U-turn.
Groudon lost 10% of its health.
Jibaku switched in Latias (lvl 100 Latias ?).
Groudon used Stealth Rock.
The sun continues to shine.

Good News: I got my rocks up and made my first prediction of the game.

Bad News: I have absolutely nothing that can switch into Latias besides Jirachi.

I wanted to switch to Jirachi, but Thudner + Dragon Pulse would finish me off. I'm pretty sure he's gonna stay in on this turn, so I'm gonna do something smartz!

Latias used Dragon Pulse.
Groudon lost 46% of its health.
Groudon used Toxic.
Latias was badly poisoned!
The sun continues to shine.
Latias is hurt by poison!
Latias lost 6% of its health.

Perfect, I got it poisoned ^__^. If you're asking why I didn't Dragon Claw, well... I have no idea why, I thought it would be better in the long run? Anyway, I have to switch, basically because Jirachi is still fucken alive and strong, so I go to my Latias counter/toxic staller, despite it being so weak.

TU-HECTOR switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Latias used Dragon Pulse.

TU-HECTOR's Jirachi fainted.
The sun continues to shine.
Latias is hurt by poison!
Latias lost 18% of its health.

5-6

Yes I could've protected to get Latias weaker, but I thought Jibaku would take the chance of using Recover, which he didn't. Latias is getting weaker, thus lowering its effectiveness on walling Kyogre. I decide to go with Darkrai seeing as how it can take down Latias easily.

TU-HECTOR switched in Darkrai (lvl 100 Darkrai).
Pointed stones dug into Darkrai.
Darkrai lost 12% of its health.
Jibaku switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Darkrai used Dark Pulse.
Jirachi lost 25% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

And of course, Jirachi comes in to play some games with Darkrai. FUCK JIRACHI AND ITS FAMILY. I don't wanna risk it Paralyzing my Darkrai, so I'm going to my status absorber just in case.

TU-HECTOR switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
The sun faded.
Rain began to fall!
Pointed stones dug into Kyogre.
Kyogre lost 12% of its health.
Jirachi used Wish.
Jirachi made a wish!
The rain continues to fall.

Now this is where it gets tricky.. and fun as well ^___^. I can Surf him for the Jirachi kill since he's at 50% or so, but I really didn't think I would be able to defeat it, so I knew he had Latias weak, and this is the part where I love myself (Can't blame me, I'm so sexy) for putting Ice Beam over Thunder ^__^. I decide to go with Ice Beam, since I'm pretty sure I won't kill Jirachi, but I can kill Latias.

Jirachi used U-turn.
Kyogre lost 12% of its health.
Jibaku switched in Latias (lvl 100 Latias ?).
Pointed stones dug into Latias.
Latias lost 12% of its health.
Kyogre used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Latias lost 31% of its health.
Jibaku's Latias fainted.
The rain continues to fall.

5-5

Alright, predicted right there ^__^.Finally I take down one of his guys, but I still feel he has the advantage over me for some reason. He still has 2 unknown pokemon to me, I guess that may be the reason? Lets continue with the battle.

Jibaku switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
The rain stopped.

Pointed stones dug into Groudon.

Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
Pointed stones dug into Groudon.
Groudon lost 6% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

Alright he brought in his Groudon, and I switch because Surf is a 2HKO under the sun, so its a must switch. Now you may be wondering why I went to Groudon instead of Latias, well I really don't know why I did that (again), but it turned out pretty nicely don't you think? ^__^; Time to kill that damn Steel Star on Steroids.

Jirachi used Body Slam.
Groudon lost 11% of its health.
Groudon is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Groudon used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Jirachi lost 61% of its health.
Jibaku's Jirachi fainted.
The sun continues to shine.

5-4

I think Jibaku expected me to do something stupid and random again, but I didn't because killing Jirachi was my #1 priority at that point.

Jibaku switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).

He brings in his Tyranitar, which coulda been seriously hurt but Jibaku gets some nice para hax, so Groudon is nothing but fodder atm.Thank you Groudon <3.

Tyranitar used Crunch.
Groudon lost 8% of its health.
TU-HECTOR's Groudon fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

4-4

Alright, basically he has a Tyranitar at full health, with CB I believe, so I decide to go to Kyogre since it takes care of the Sandstorm and should do some nicdamage to whatever is left on his team.

TU-HECTOR switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!

Groudon lost 6% of its health.
Kyogre used Surf.
It's super effective!
Groudon lost 51% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

Alright so he gets rid of the rain, and I'm forced to switch if I want to win this match. I was expecting an Earthquake, so I decide to go to Latias. Just so you know, he still has one pokemon very unknown to me, so I was trying to mantain the most guys alive as possible until I saw his last pokemon. If it was a Deo-a, I would be pretty screwed...

Quilky Way has left the room.
Jibaku switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).

Latias is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Latias lost 6% of its health.

So he goes right back to Tyranitar. I saw his goal, get my guys as weak as possible, which just made me more nervous of his last guy, though I had a ScarfPalkia left so I felt pretty good, but still on the tip of my toes. Latias can't do anything to Tyranitar so I decide to go right back to Kyogre to kill his Groudon once and for all.

TU-HECTOR switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
The sandstorm stopped.
Rain began to fall!
Pointed stones dug into Kyogre.
Kyogre lost 12% of its health.
Tyranitar used Crunch.
Kyogre lost 39% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.

Kyogre taken the Crunch easily, making it a 3HKO, but he's obviously going to switch to Groudon to force my Kyogre to switch again. But now Groudon will be dead ^__^.

4-3/I]

With Groudon out of the way, I knew I was so close to having this won. He switches in Tyranitar to kill my Kyogre, but I have no idea what his last guy is, so, expecting the Crunch for the KO....

... I switch in Darkrai to get the win. Everything about to work as planned. All I had to do, was get Dark Void to hit, which does not happen very often despite its supposedly 90% accuracy. So, Mission was hit Dark Void, set the sub and win. I click the button and

So much for his last pokemon lol. The score really discredits the overall battle. I really felt is was much much closer. Great Game Jibaku, you have my uttermost respect as a battler.

TU-HECTOR: gg
Jibaku: gg
Jibaku has left the room.

Props:
- Jibaku for being a great opponnet
- Darkrai for pulling off the sweep
- Groudon for beating Jirachi
- Kyogre for taking hits like the beast that it is

Slops:
- Palkia for not being able to show its face
- My paranoia about his last pokemon sweeping my team

Hope you enjoyed the read! First warstory on Smogon so tell me what you think. All feedback is appreciated

Great battle man.

The battle was awsome, it was closer then the score states indeed. Keep it up.

One of the images is broken. I assume it's a Mewtwo - PE2K goes by the National Dex numbering system and the number of Mewtwo on the National Dex is, of course, #150.

Impressive war story Hector. Well played on both sides of that one.
Just fix the broken images and the coding errors, and your pretty much set.

Wow... Eternal, Kuja, Zelda, Stone, and HECTOR all have accounts here? Didn't know that >_<

That was a great read HECTOR, I look foreword to more. =]

Thanks for comments guys! As for the broken image and a little format issues, I'm having problems editing. I clcik the button, but I've been wiating over 20 minutes to edit, but can't =(

This I think is the first warstory in over a month that I have read through from start to finish. The comments could have been more detailed but you chose a great battle and structured it very well.

Although I have yet to play Jibaku on the Uber Ladder, I certainly would have expected to see that defensive Mewtwo if I ever did. Also, seeing two Jirachis was quite surprising as it has been going down in popularity recently.

Anyway, this was a great warstory, good job!

You couldn't edit it? I was able to without a problem (img tags were missing on Mewtwo's sprite, thats why it wasn't showing up).

This was a pretty nice warstory, I like how Jibaku's unusual Mewtwo set ended up working well.

Anyway, onto the warstory itself:

"Though 5HKOing is epic win"
"hellz"

Comments like that turned me off, and I felt like some of the comments were lacking. Overall just average job with that. I feel like it was a good battle though. It was a 4-0 story but I agree it was closer than that score really made it out to be. You got rid of the pokemon stopping your sweep effectively and then took advantage.

It was a good read and the good format of the post made it really easy to read..it also interested me since I kind of want to get a grasp of the uber metagame

edit: also lmao @ Gaborik

What are you LMAO'ing at riddler? If you look at all the comments posted for this warstory, 9/10ths of them are from members of your forum. That itself negates the actual warstory, basically asking for fame from your fellow forum members. Whatever...

The warstory itself was actually decent. As hector said, the score doesn't signify the closeness of the actual battle. Regardless, the posts about the warstory are absolutely atrocious, making me feel that its just the fact that you beat a big name and felt like posting the story (not you specifically hector, but the fact that almost every comment about it is from TU).

Great warstory, I just don't like that people don't post a lot of them(I mean that there are almost no uber warstories)...

lol @gaborik :rolf:

I should've stated this earlier, but keep comments related on the warstory; we really don't care if you love or hate TU.

Only reason comments are from team uber peeps is because I spammed link in chatbox to get some comments. Didn't know that was a bad thing. I wanted the story to be read since I spent a bit fo time on it. So yeah, sorry if I did anything wrong.

To Gaborik: We only slapped the TU in front of our names to actually be recognized by some people when they saw us on the leaderboards, we in no way meant to offend anyone by that.

I see where you're going with the "hellz yeah" and "NOICE", well its just my way of writing. It just comes out naturally. But yeah, I guess I'll edit those out as soon as the Edit button works for me >___>

I will, but yeah Edit no working lol.

Great job HECTOR, you really do battle well in every tier. Good fight jibaku, you are a very talented uber battler.

I'm going to be the devil's advocate here, and say that I only read the log because the writer's writing is very lacking. If he is not a native speaker (which I doubt from the use of American slang here and there), I will apologize for my rudeness. If you are an American or from some other country where English is the main language, I would ask for a bit more effort in spelling and avoiding use of passive voice, along with avoiding other grammar mistakes. They are painful on the eyes.

Even reading just the log though, I'd have to say there have been better battles. Congradulations on defeating Jibaku though, as that is impressive. Nevertheless, warstories do not exist for bragging, so displaying a victory over a skilled player is not in and of itself good enough reason to write a warstory.

But anyways, even though it was a staggering defeat and fairly sloppy play on my part, I enjoyed it and it helps me adjust my playstyle in the future.

Although I have yet to play Jibaku on the Uber Ladder, I certainly would have expected to see that defensive Mewtwo if I ever did.
Did you not? I remembered facing your exact team on ladder before.

Really? I'll take your word for it then and blame my own memory. I just thought I'd remember your name and that Mewtwo especially, but I don't. If you mean that team of Wobb + 5 non-Ubers, apparently a few others copied the team so you might be mistaking me for somebody else. I'm ggGerbil on Shoddy btw.
