Anyway, this is actually a team that I would like to improve on, but due to my general lack of OU knowledge I don't know what changes to make without throwing off the general flow of the team. It performs well against a fairly large portion of the metagame, assuming I play right, and has brought me to Round 4 of a Smogon Tour, beating some fairly big names in the process in Reymedy and Steve Angello. (It was week 1 - I didn't have time week 4 unfortunately.)

This is an offensive team based around a Mega Pinsir sweep. It uses a couple unorthodox sets on normally defensive Pokemon (Shuca + 4 Attacks Heatran and Specs Rotom-W) to help remove Pinsir's checks as well as some more standard fare.

pinsir-mega.png

Pinsir @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Close Combat
- Quick Attack

More people should use this. +2 Return does crazy shit like 75% min to physically defensive Hippowdon. Shit's fucking insane man. Pinsir is an absurdly powerful sweeper that has some difficulties setting up but is absolutely explosive once it does. Hyper Cutter is nice to prevent random Intimidate Pokemon from slowing it down as it Mega Evolves. Everything else on the set should be self explanatory. Pinsir is unfortunately a bit of a poor meta pick right now, with Diancie and Mega Metagross free and all that and Talonflame/Tornadus-T being little shits. Fortunately that's what the rest of the team is for :)

Also this is the only Pokemon that I nickname. BRINGER OF PLAGUES

heatran.png

Heatran @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 104 HP / 204 SpA / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Ice]

I don't think I've mentioned this yet - I primarily play Smogon Doubles. (You should too!) As a result, I tend to build a bit more in the sense of "can I check X by doing Y" rather than "do I have a direct switchin for X" (which influences my usual OU builds to the extreme). I also pick up a couple sets, like this Shuca Heatran here. This Heatran is tailored to beat some of the big things that beat Mega Pinsir. Shuca lets it take most Ground moves that aren't offensive Lando-T Earthquake (4 Atk Earthquake doesn't OHKO though!) and its natural bulk lets it switch in on a bunch of stuff. The Speed EVs let it outrun max Jolly Bisharp (and by extension Breloom, although it's a shitty Breloom answer because Mach Punch) and the HP EVs let it live a 252 SpA Mega Diancie Earth Power after two switchins on Stealth Rock. It's a great answer to other Heatran, popping them with Earth Power while not being KOd by Earth Power itself, and it can even take on DD Mega Altaria somewhat reliably. HP Ice beans Lando-T who think I'm Scarf or something.

latias.png

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Healing Wish

Latias serves important support roles during the match as my primary switchin to Manaphy and Rotom-W, sole hazard remover, and Healing Wish user, but it's also pretty damn strong in its own right. Draco Meteor does tons of damage a pop, and Psyshock hits things for less but without dropping my Special Attack (and being an invitation for a Diancie switchin). Healing Wish lets me bring an important Pokemon from red to ready in a pinch (usually Pinsir or Rotom). The biggest problem with this set is that I try to use it for a shit ton of stuff (and really miss recovery) and it ends up getting unnecessarily pressured.

landorus-therian.png

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn

If anybody tells you Landorus-T isn't the single best Pokemon in the entire game, they're wrong. No Mega comes close to the sheer usability of Landorus-T - not even the banned ones (looking at you Kanga and Mence). Here I'm using a bulky set as a general purpose "fuck physical attackers" Pokemon. It sets Stealth Rock (which is a big help for Pinsir), checks Talonflame and Zard X, and pivots with U-turn. I'd like to say it kills Steels, but they don't stay in on a Landorus. Not much else to say about this.

rotom-wash.png

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Trick
- Will-O-Wisp

I actually have Specs Rotom-Wash because I used a team in early XY of Deoxys-D / Genesect / Mega Pinsir / Specs Rotom-W / Aegislash / Bisharp. I really liked how well Mega Pinsir and Specs Rotom-W worked together, so I decided to use the bespectacled washing machine again. Rotom is actually one of my most potent weapons against stall; I can either hammer stuff with Specs Hydro Pumps or I can Trick my item to something that would rather not have it. Rotom-W is also a nice check to Talonflame, Tornadus-T, Landorus-I, and Mega Charizard X (minimum 95% to 0/4 Zard? Hell yes) and a good pivot with Volt Switch. Most common target of Healing Wish due to its sheer ability on the team. 44 Speed EVs outrun all Azumarill, and the preference of HP over Special Attack lets me check things a tad better. Shame that Hydro Pump DOESN'T ALWAYS OHKO SPECIALLY DEFENSIVE HEATRAN.

clefable.png

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast

I wanted an emergency check to setup attackers. Clefable does that, passes Wishes around a bit, checks a couple Dragons, and... dies. It's really the least useful Pokemon on the team, usually ending up sacked by midgame.

-----

This team's biggest weaknesses are Tornadus-T, Mega Lopunny, and full stall. Torn and Lop just kind of break it apart (especially Ice Punch Lop fuck that thing omg), and I can't really break stall... at all. I kind of just have to hope I dump Skarmory and then set up Pinsir as it threatens something out (a +2 Pinsir will usually get the job done though).

Shoutout to dekzeh for helping me with the team early on, although I don't think I made a ton of changes to it then lol, and to Stratos for being a fuck.

Now to go build more Doubles teams

How do you have a problem with Mega Lopunny ? Defensive Clef should do it for you along with intimidate support from Landorus. But If you honestly feel that way I have one suggestion to your team that could really help you out with your problems.

Offensive Air Balloon Tran is a thing right about now but I don't see where 4 attacks shuca berry really fits on this team. I know you mentioned that you primarily play Smogon Doubles and that tends to influence your singles team building, however Shuca Berry tran just doesn't serve a purpose on your team when you have Rotom-W and Defensive Landorus as Pivots. So what I'm suggesting is the sort of swap of two sets. I believe this swap will help with not only your Torn-T problem but also with your mega lop and a bit of your full on stall I guess. I suggest making the Heatran set Specially Defensive with Stealth Rocks, and making your Landorus Choice scarfed.

The change of Heatran to Specially defensive still give you your option of Stealth Rocks on your team, but gives also gives you access to Taunt, Lava Plume which is an excellent move for breaking stall by getting burns and such, and Toxic / Earth Power for your filler move.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 196 SpD / 64 Spe
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic / Earth Power

The real change is in the Landorus set. If you change to this set, you can revenge kill torn-t and also check Mega Lopunny.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 24 Def / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Superpower

So in the end, you still keep your ability to get rocks on the field, but all did was switch around sets to help u take on more eminent thrats that can otherwise hurt your team which you felt from your OP.

don't talk shit about AM; his high like count is there to compensate for his...shortcomings.

anyways, you requested on twitter that i give your team a rate, so here i am. at a glance, your team is rather unorthodox and solid. in fact, i might steal a few of the ideas on your team for myself. brushing the innovation aside, what gets my attention is the fact that your team literally has no answer to opposing stall teams. it also has no revenge killer to take on boosted threats and clean up after mega pinsir has done its job. to fix this first issue, i think that double dance landorus-t would be a better fit for your team than your current defensive landorus-t. this patches up the stall weakness by giving you a way to pressure skarmory and other physical walls on the switch. as an example, a +2 life orb stone edge from an adamant landorus-t w/ 56 attack evs is a guaranteed 2hko on physically defensive skarmory after 1 round of sr damages, and even without sr damages, it still has an 84.6% chance of 2hkoing; specially defensive skarm and other physical walls not named cresselia get rekt. you also get an alternative sweeper, which means you don't have to completely rely on mega pinsir to close games. while you lose your sr setter and a reliable check to talonflame + zard-x with this change, you'll get them back with a few changes, which i'll cover later.

since this change removes your team's source of sr, let's repurpose another team member as the team's sr setter. since you mentioned clefable was useless besides wish passing and checking mega lopunny + dragons in your original post, let's give it a new purpose by replacing calm mind with stealth rock. this changes clefable from a shitty pseudo-crocune into a utilitymon that can pass wishes and get rocks up consistently. the loss of calm mind is inconsequential in this case because of mega pinsir and my landorus-t suggestion.

since you mentioned that latias faces a ton of pressure all around, i'd recommend using roost over healing wish and an ev spread of 104 hp / 152 spa / 252 spe on latias. roost keeps latias alive for longer, letting it check threats without getting overwhelmed, which you mentioned was a problem. besides, healing wish seems a bit redundant when you already have wish support from clefable. the evs ensure that latias lives a knock off from landorus even after one round of sr damage, making it a more reliable answer to landorus and electrics.

these last two changes are optional, so try them out if you're feeling adventurous. i'd like to suggest running a specially defensive rotom-w over your current choice specs set. this gives you a more reliable out against talonflame, tornadus-t, landorus, and gyarados, which makes up for the change to a more offensive landorus-t. the loss in offensive firepower is kinda bad, but your team appreciates rotom-w's ability to pivot into attacks more than its ability to hit hard. i guess that one more thing you can think about is getting a revenge killer on your team somewhere. as a result, i'd suggest trying out timid choice scarf heatran over shucatran. it beats mega lopunny, revenge kills talonflame and earthquake-less mega charizard-x, and invites ground-types (and heatran) onto the field, which gives landorus-t set-up opportunities. of course, if you feel like your options are already more solid, then you're free to disregard this section of the rate.

set(s):

landorus-therian @ life orb | intimidate
adamant | 132 hp / 56 atk / 216 def / 104 spe
• swords dance
• rock polish
• earthquake
• stone edge

not much to say here that i haven't already stated in my rate above. the evs give landorus more than enough bulk to avoid the 2hko from unboosted life orb excadrill's iron head. life orb sees use because the wish support this team provides is more than enough to make up for the lack of leftovers recovery. you're free to try out a more offensive ev spread if you think the power is necessary to help landorus-t break walls down for mega pinsir.
