UU Hydreigon

Overview
########
Hydreigon's high base Special Attack and good overall stats are part of what makes it an important threat in the UnderUsed metagame. Hydreigon's typing gives it almost perfect neutral coverage with its STAB moves; the only type that resists both is Fairy. Defensively, Hydreigon's typing has some great resistances and, taking Levitate into consideration, two immunities. Hydreigon's movepool is simply fantastic, which makes it a really versatile threat. However, Hydreigon's weakness to Fighting- and Bug-type attacks, both of which are common in UnderUsed, and the fact its base 98 Speed isn't that great, make it hard for Hydreigon to deal with offensive teams.

Wallbreaker
########
name: Wallbreaker
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Dark Pulse
move 3: Superpower / Fire Blast
move 4: Roost / Iron Tail
ability: Levitate
item: Life Orb
evs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Hasty / Timid

Moves
========
Draco Meteor hits most Pokemon incredibly hard and not many foes resist it, making it a great opening move for this set. Dark Pulse allows Hydreigon to hit Steel-type Pokemon that resist Draco Meteor, especially Bronzong, for good damage and also has decent super effective coverage. Superpower allows Hydreigon to threaten Blissey, Empoleon, Snorlax, and Umbreon with a potential KO after hitting them with Draco Meteor. Fire Blast hits Steel-type Pokemon for super effective damage, making it useful on sets without Dark Pulse, and also allows Hydreigon to hit bulky Grass-type Pokemon for massive damage without relying on Draco Meteor. Roost gives Hydreigon more longevity and helps it deal with Life Orb recoil. Iron Tail allows Hydreigon to 2HKO Florges and other less common Fairy-type Pokemon, which would easily wall this set. Flash Cannon can be used because it has 100% accuracy and hits Fairy-types not called Florges harder than Iron Tail; however, it won't 2HKO Florges without some prior damage.

Set Details
========
The listed EVs maximize Hydreigon's Special Attack and Speed. A Hasty nature is needed to outspeed Pokemon such as Haxorus, Lucario, and Roserade and to not Speed tie with base 85 Speed Pokemon running a positive nature. 4 Attack EVs make Superpower and Iron Tail slightly stronger. If no physical move is being used, Timid is the preferred nature, and the 4 remaining EVs should be put in Special Defense to prevent Download users from getting a Special Attack boost. Life Orb is the only item this set should run; otherwise it struggles to 2HKO some walls.

Usage Tips
========
More often than not, starting with Draco Meteor is the best option. Exceptions are if there's a Fairy-type Pokemon or a bulky Steel-type Pokemon in the opponent's team; in those cases, prediction could be used to 2HKO them if they switch in. This set should be used early- or mid-game to weaken the opposing team and allow a different Pokemon to do the sweeping. Hydreigon isn't frail, but it isn't particularly bulky either. Don't play Hydreigon recklessly, and try to avoid taking any unnecessary hits, as otherwise it can be worn down fairly quickly.

Team Options
========
Entry hazard support is extremely important, as it helps Hydreigon get some important 2HKOs against some walls, such as Blissey and Umbreon, and helps it wear down the opponent's team. Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Empoleon, and Roserade can set up entry hazards, and they can deal with Fairy-type Pokemon that might give Hydreigon problems. Pokemon that can deal with fast revenge killers or priority users, such as Crobat and Mega Aggron, help Hydreigon stay alive longer. Sweepers that can take advatange of Hydreigon's wallbreaking capabilities, such as Mega Pidgeot and Kingdra, are good partners.

Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Dark Pulse
move 3: Fire Blast / Dragon Pulse
move 4: U-turn
ability: Levitate
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
Draco Meteor is strong enough to OHKO most offensive threats that don't resist it, especially if Stealth Rock is on the opponent's side of the field, making it great for revenge killing. Dark Pulse is a secondary STAB attack, that allows Hydreigon to revenge kill or clean up late-game without Special Attack drops. Fire Blast hits Steel- and Grass-type Pokemon for good damage and is Hydreigon's best option against Pokemon such as Lucario and Whimsicott. Dragon Pulse can be used as another consistent STAB attack; however, it doesn't give Hydreigon any useful coverage. U-turn is a good way of gaining momentum and does chip damage to potential switch-ins.

Set Details
========
The given EVs maximize Hydreigon's Special Attack and Speed. 4 EVs in Special Defense prevent it from giving a Special Attack boost to Download users. A Timid nature with a Choice Scarf is needed to be able to outspeed every unboosted Pokemon in the tier, as well as Choice Scarf users such as Darmanitan and Krookodile.

Usage Tips
========
This set only really works as a revenge killer and late-game cleaner, as it lacks the power to fulfill any other role. Hydreigon's U-turn might be weak, but it is still a great spammable move because it steals momentum from the opponent if they decide to switch out.

Team Options
========
Hydreigon appreciates entry hazard support, especially Stealth Rock, because it needs it to be able to OHKO Pokemon such as Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Pidgeot. This set is really vulnerable to Fairy-types, making Pokemon such as Mega Aggron and Empoleon great partners, thanks to their ability to effortlessly switch into Fairy-type Pokemon and set up Stealth Rock. Strong physical attackers, such as Heracross and Infernape, can be used to take advantage of special walls trying to beat Hydreigon.

Stallbreaker
########
name: Stallbreaker
move 1: Taunt
move 2: Roost
move 3: Dark Pulse
move 4: Dragon Pulse / Fire Blast
ability: Levitate
item: Life Orb / Leftovers
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
Taunt allows Hydreigon to shut down most specially defensive Pokemon that try to counter it, such as Umbreon, Blissey, Vaporeon, and specially defensive Hippowdon. It also allows Hydreigon to act as a stallbreaker and stop some entry hazard setters, such as Tentacruel and Swampert. Roost helps Hydreigon stay healthy, which means the aforementioned walls are not able to wear it down after being Taunted. Dark Pulse is Hydreigon's main attack move because it has great neutral coverage and a 20% flinch chance, which makes it extremely spammable. Dragon Pulse is slightly stronger than Dark Pulse, which is helpful for wearing down most Pokemon. Fire Blast OHKOes Whimsicott, which is otherwise a big problem for this set, and also allows Hydreigon to OHKO Chesnaught and Forretress. Draco Meteor can be used to do huge immediate damage, because Dark Pulse already provides a consistent STAB attack without drawbacks.

Set Details
========
The given EV spread maximizes Hydreigon's Special Attack and Speed, while 4 EVs in Special Defense prevent Download users from getting a Special Attack boost. A Timid nature is needed to be able to outspeed Pokemon such as Haxorus, Krookodile, and Roserade. Life Orb helps Hydreigon wear down walls significantly faster, as well as making it a much bigger offensive threat in general. However, Leftovers is an option because it makes Hydreigon much harder to wear down, which helps it deal with Scald users, such as Suicune and Vaporeon.

Usage Tips
========
This set is pretty straightforward. Attack the opponent's team until you need to use Taunt to shut down a wall. Counting Taunt turns is a must, because if Hydreigon is at low health the turn its effect ends, the foe might be able to cripple Hydreigon or heal if you decide to Roost, and if you don't, Hydreigon might faint.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard support is extremely important for this set, because it forces a huge amount of switches and helps Hydreigon wear down the opponent's team. Toxic Spikes deserve a special mention because they make Hydreigon's job significantly easier. Pokemon such as Mega Aggron and Roserade are great partners, because they can deal with Fairy-type Pokemon and set up entry hazards. Special sweepers, such as Kingdra and Mega Pidgeot, appreciate Hydreigon's ability to wear down walls that give them trouble.

Other Options
########

Hydreigon can run Choice Specs to hit significantly harder; however, it can't fully take advantage of its coverage without Life Orb. A Choice Band set, with moves such as Outrage, Superpower, Iron Tail, and U-turn, can be used to lure in and beat special walls, but it is too reliant on surprise factor and prediction. Substitute and Roost can be used on the same set to utilize Hydreigon's bulk and typing to set up, but it struggles to break through dedicated special walls. Hydreigon has some less effective coverage moves it can use instead of the ones suggested in the sets, such as Surf, Focus Blast, and Earth Power. It can boost its Attack and Special Attack with Work Up, but that usually is not worth the effort, because the boost isn't significant and Hydreigon isn't particularly hard to revenge kill.

Checks & Counters
########

**Porygon2**: No combination of Hydreigon's moves 2HKOes specially defensive Porygon2, and Ice Beam and Tri Attack allow Porygon2 to beat Taunt sets.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-type Pokemon resist both of Hydreigon's STAB moves, and Florges and Aromatisse are bulky enough to not be threatened by Fire Blast. Only the wallbreaker set is able to threaten them if running Steel-type coverage. Iron Tail hits Florges significantly harder than Flash Cannon, but Flash Cannon is better against Aromatisse and Granbull, and the latter doesn't handle Life Orb-boosted Dark Pulse or Fire Blast very well.

**Specially Bulky Water-type Pokemon**: Vaporeon, Milotic, and Suicune can deal with wallbreaker and Choice Scarf sets. However, without Ice Beam, they all lose to Taunt Hydreigon. Empoleon is similar to the other bulky Water-types, but Superpower from the wallbreaker set can KO after using any other move to wear Empoleon down.

**Specially Defensive Hippowdon**: Hippowdon can stall out the wallbreaker set with Slack Off as long as it doesn't switch into Dark Pulse, because that move followed by a Draco Meteor can KO with good damage rolls. The Choice Scarf set is completely walled by Hippowdon, whereas the Taunt set shuts Hippowdon down, but with Ice Fang it does enough damage to force Hydreigon to heal constantly.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon that can OHKO Hydreigon, such as Infernape and Salamence, can easily revenge kill it. However, the Choice Scarf set is faster than everything but other Choice Scarf users.

The skeleton is done. Things I'm considering:

- Change the set order to: Taunt / Scarf / Mix.
- Make specs its own set. I don't really like it in the current meta, but willing to add it if people want it.

Flash Cannon is worth using to hit Fairies with.
Flash Cannon is mentioned in the first set, which is the only one that can actually use it successfully. It isn't slashed because Iron Tail is better for Florges, who is by far the best Fairy type in UU.

you should definitely mention the 56 Atk / 200 SpA / 252 Spe (iirc) spread for mixed LO so it can lure and KO blissey

200 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey: 199-235 (27.8 - 32.9%) -- 84.4% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
56 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 447-528 (62.6 - 73.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
-1 56 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 299-354 (41.8 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Draco Meteor + Superpower do 90.4% min. Two Superpower do 104.4% min. Leftovers Blissey with Protect switching into SR can survive the former but not the latter.

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey: 208-246 (29.1 - 34.4%) -- 99.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
4 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 426-502 (59.6 - 70.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
-1 4 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 283-335 (39.6 - 46.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Draco Meteor + Superpower do 88.7 min. Two Superpower do 99.2% min. Leftovers Blissey with Protect switching into SR can survive the former and has almost no chance of surviving the latter.

The damage difference against Blissey is minimal and it's only important if it is at absolute max health and gets near min roll everytime. Neither set is going to beat Blissey on a 1v1 anyway, so I don't really see a reason to run more attack. It's main move is Draco Meteor and making it weaker to do 2% more to Blissey with Dmeteor + Superpower is not really worth it.

I went through a bunch of calcs before writing that set to find the "ideal" EV spread, and I really couldn't find any reason to run more Attack and less Special Attack:

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Umbreon: 161-191 (40.8 - 48.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
4 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Superpower vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Umbreon: 216-255 (54.8 - 64.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

95.6 min

200 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Umbreon: 156-185 (39.5 - 46.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
56 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Superpower vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Umbreon: 226-268 (57.3 - 68%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

96.8 min

Umbreon chances of surviving after SR against both spread is practically the same.

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Snorlax: 165-195 (35.7 - 42.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
4 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Superpower vs. 0 HP / 252 Def Snorlax: 242-286 (52.4 - 62%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

88.1 min. 100% chance of 2HKOing after rocks

200 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Snorlax: 160-188 (34.7 - 40.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
56 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Superpower vs. 0 HP / 252 Def Snorlax: 255-302 (55.3 - 65.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

90 min. 100% chance of 2HKOing after rocks

4 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Iron Tail vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Florges: 179-213 (49.7 - 59.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
56 Atk Life Orb Hydreigon Iron Tail vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Florges: 190-224 (52.7 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Neither beats healthy Protect Florges.

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Swampert: 294-347 (72.7 - 85.8%) --
guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
200 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Swampert: 282-333 (69.8 - 82.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Swampert: 181-214 (44.8 - 52.9%) -- 85.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
200 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Swampert: 175-207 (43.3 - 51.2%) -- 53.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 240 SpD Mega Aggron: 153-181 (44.4 - 52.6%) -- 76.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
200 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 240 SpD Mega Aggron: 148-175 (43 - 50.8%) -- 48% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Machamp: 207-243 (56.8 - 66.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
200 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Machamp: 199-234 (54.6 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Considering Hydreigon is going to use its STABs 90%+ of the times, because they hit the huge majority of the tier extremely hard, I'd rather be doing more damage with them than having slightly more chances of beating some walls if they are at 100%.

Talked on IRC last night. Mention Empoleon as a target of Superpower (even tho it's already stated in checks and counters I guess), QC 1/3.

Just a couple of nitpicks:

- wondering whether Dragon Pulse is worth a slash on the wallbreaker set, I don't recall ever seeing it used. Well I don't think it should be a slash alongside Dark Pulse at least, which, at least in my experience, is irreplaceable. I would only see it as an option over Draco Meteor, but as this makes Hydreigon less of a wallbreaker, perhaps it's not worth a mention at all. What do you think?

- for the Scarf set, IMO the order of slashes should be Fire Blast / Dragon Pulse and not the other way around. Being able to revenge Whimsi, Cobalion, Luke etc is a pretty big thing.

About the first one, it is a minor thing I don't mind removing at all, but Dragon Pulse hits some targets slightly harder (does like 2%-3% more damage,,,), and Fire Blast can deal with Steel-types. Dark Pulse is usually the better option, even if you are running Fire Blast, but Dragon Pulse could help wearing down some Pokemon, like bulky waters.

Second one makes sense.

The only issue with your post is that you already QC'd this, so I gotta wait for someone else to give it a 3rd check :[

I'd mention in Fairy-types that Florges is hit harder by Iron Tail, while Aromatisse and Granbull can handle that better but get destroyed by Flash Cannon (also LO Fire Blast 2HKOes Granbull! while DP 3HKOes it with SR). I say that because it's the only entry where you don't mention examples.

Quoting IB93:

**Porygon2**: No combination of Hydreigon's moves 2HKOes specially defensive Porygon2, and Ice Beam and Tri Attack allow it to beat Taunt sets.

**Fairy-types Pokemon**: Fairy-type Pokemon resist both of Hydreigon's STAB moves, and Florges and Aromatisse are bulky enough to not be threatened by Fire Blast. Only the wallbreaker set is able to threaten them if running Steel-type coverage. Iron Tail hits Florges significantly harder than Flash Cannon, but Flash Cannon is better against Aromatisse and Granbull, but and the latter doesn't handle Life Orb-(hyphen)boosted Dark Pulse or Fire Blast very well.

**Specially Bulky Water-type Pokemon**: Vaporeon, Milotic, (AC) and Suicune can deal with the wallbreaker and Choice Scarf sets. However, without Ice Beam, they all lose to Taunt Hydreigon. Empoleon is similar to the other bulky Water-types, but Superpower from the wallbreaker set can KO after using any other move to wear Empoleon down.

**Specially Defensive Hippowdon**: Can outstall stall out the wallbreaker set with Slack Off as long as it doesn't switch into Dark Pulse, because that move followed by a Draco Meteor can KO with good damage rolls. The Choice Scarf set is completely walled by Hippowdown., (full stop/period -> comma) whereas the Taunt set shuts Hippowdon down, but with Ice Fang it does enough damage to force Hydreigon to heal constantly.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon that can OHKO Hydreigon, such as Infernape and Salamence, can easily revenge kill it. However, the Choice Scarf set is faster than everything but other Choice Scarf users Pokemon holding that item.

Overview

Hydreigon's high base Special Attack and good overall stats are part of what makes it an important threat in the UnderUsed metagame. Hydreigon's typing offensively gives it almost perfect neutral coverage with its STAB moves,; (comma -> semicolon) the only type that resists both is Fairy-type. And Defensively, Hydreigon's typing has some great resistances and, taking Levitate in consideration, two immunities. Hydreigon's movepool is simply fantastic, which makes it a really versatile threat. However, Hydreigon's weakness to Fighting- and Bug-type attacks, both of which are common in UnderUsed, and the fact its base 98 base Speed isn't that great, makes it hard for Hydreigon to deal with offensive teams.

move 3: Superpower / Fire Blast
move 4: Roost / Iron Tail

evs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Hasty / Timid

Moves
========
Draco Meteor hits most Pokemon incredibly hard and not many things foes resist it, making it a great opening move for this set. Dark Pulse allows Hydreigon to hit Steel-type Pokemon that resist Draco Meteor for good damage, especially Bronzong, and also It also has decent super effective coverage. Superpower allows Hydreigon to threaten Blissey, Empoleon, Snorlax, (AC) and Umbreon, (RC) with a potential KO after hitting them with Draco Meteor. Fire Blast hits Steel-type Pokemon for super effective damage, making it useful on sets without Dark Pulse, and also allows Hydreigon to hit bulky Grass-type Pokemon for massive damage without relying on Draco Meteor. Roost gives Hydreigon more survivability and helps it deal with Life Orb recoil. Iron Tail allows Hydreigon to 2HKO Florges and other less common Fairy-type Pokemon, whoich otherwise would otherwise easily wall this set. (full stop/period) Flash Cannon can be used because it has 100 accuracy and hits Fairy-types not called Florges harder than Iron Tail,; (comma -> semicolon) however, it won't 2HKO Florges without some prior damage.

The listed EVs maximize Hydreigon's Special Attack and Speed. A Hasty nature is needed to outspeed Pokemon such as Haxorus, Lucario, (AC) and Roserade, and to not Speed tie with base 85 Speed Pokemon running a positive nature. 4 Attack EVs to make Superpower or Iron Tail slightly stronger. If no physical move is being used, Timid is the preferred nature, and the 4 remaining EVs should be put in SpD Special Defense to prevent Download users getting a Special Attack boost. Life Orb is the only item this set should run,; (comma -> semicolon) otherwise it struggles to 2HKO some walls

Usage Tips
========
More often than not, starting with Draco Meteor is the best option. Exceptions are if there's a Fairy-type Pokemon or a bulky Steel-type Pokemon in the foe's opponent's team,; (comma -> semicolon) in those cases, (AC) prediction could be used to 2HKO them if they switch in. This set should be used early-(hyphen) or mid-(hyphen)game to weaken the opposite opposing team and allow a different Pokemon to do the sweeping. Hydreigon isn't frail, but it isn't particularly bulky either. Don't play Hydreigon recklessly, (AC) and try to avoid taking any unnecessary hits, as otherwise it can be worn down fairly fast quickly.

Team Options
========
Entry hazards support is extremely important, as they it helps Hydreigon get some important 2HKOes against some walls, such as Blissey and Umbreon, and help it wear down the foe's opponent's team. Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Empoleon, and Roserade can set(space)up entry hazards, and they can deal with Fairy-type Pokemon that might give Hydreigon problems. Pokemon that can deal with fast revenge killers or priority users, such as Crobat and Mega Aggron, help Hydreigon stay alive for longer. Sweepers that can take advantange of Hydreigon's wallbreaking capabilities, such as Mega Pidgeot and Kingdra, are good partners..(remove extra full stop/period)

move 3: Fire Blast / Dragon Pulse
move 4: U-turn
ability: Levitate
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
Draco Meteor is strong enough to OHKO most offensive threats that don't resist it, especially if Stealth Rock is on the opponent's side of the foe's field, making it great for revenge killing. Dark Pulse is a good (it wouldn't be on the set if it wasn't good) secondary STAB attack, which that allows Hydreigon to revenge kill or clean(space)up late-(hyphen)game without Special Attack drops. Fire Blast hits Steel- and Grass-type Pokemon for good damage, and that's Hydreigon's best option against Pokemon such as Lucario and Whimsicott. Dragon Pulse can be used as another consistent STAB attack,; (comma -> semicolon) however, (AC) it doesn't give Hydreigon any useful coverage. U-turn is a good way of gaining momentum and does chip damage to potential switch-ins.

Set Details
========
The given EVs maximize its Hydreigon's Special Attack and Speed. 4 EVs in SpD Special Defense to prevent it from giving a Special Attack boost to Download users. A Timid nature with a Choice Scarf is needed to be able to outspeed every UU unboosted Pokemon in the tier without a boost, as well as Choice Scarf users such as Darmanitan and Krookodile

Usage Tips
========
This set only really works as a revenge killer and late-game cleaner, as it lacks the power to fulfill any other role. Hydreigon's U-turn might be weak, but it is still is a great spammable move because it steals momentum from the foe if they decide to switch out.

Team Options
========
Hydreigon appreciates entry hazards support, especially Stealth Rocks, because Hydreigon it needs them it to be able to OHKO Pokemon such as Mega Aerodactyl, (RC) and Mega Pidgeot. This set is really vulnerable to Fairy-types, making Pokemon such as Mega Aggron and Empoleon great partners, thanks to their ability to effortlessly switch into Fairy-type Pokemon and set up Stealth Rocks. Strong physical attackers, such as Heracross and Infernape, can be used to take advantange of special walls trying to beat Hydreigon.

Stallbreaker
########
name: Stallbreaker
move 1: Taunt
move 2: Roost
move 3: Dark Pulse
move 4: Dragon Pulse / Fire Blast
ability: Levitate
item: Life Orb / Leftovers
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
Taunt allows Hydreigon to shut(space)down most specially defensive Pokemon that try to counter it, for example, such as Umbreon, Blissey, Vaporeon, and specially defensive Hippowdon. It also allows Hydreigon to act as a stallbreaker and stop some entry hazards setters user, like such as Tentacruel and Swampert. Roost helps Hydreigon stay healthy, which means the aforementioned walls are not able to wear it down after being Taunted. Dark Pulse is its main attack moves because it has great neutral coverage, (RC) and a 20% flinch chance, which makes it extremely spammable. Dragon Pulse is slightly stronger than Dark Pulse, which is helpful for wearing down most Pokemon. Fire Blast OHKOes Whimsicott, whoich is otherwise is a big problem for this set, and also allows Hydreigon to OHKO Chesnaught and Forretress. Draco Meteor can be used to do huge immediate damage, because Dark Pulse already provides a consistent STAB attack without drawbacks.

Set Details
========
The given EVs spread maximizes its Hydreigon's Special Attack and Speed., (full stop/period -> comma) while 4 EVs in SpD Special Defense to prevents giving Download users from getting a Special Attack boost to Download users. (changed the sentence structure to differentiate from the previous set's Set Details) A Timid nature is needed to be able to outspeed Pokemon such as Haxorus, Krookodile, (AC) and Roserade. Life Orb helps Hydreigon wear down walls significantly faster significantly, as well as making it a much bigger offensive threat in general. However, Leftovers is an option because it makes Hydreigon much harder to wear down, which helps it deal with Scald users, such as Suicune and Vaporeon.

Usage Tips
========
This set is pretty straight(remove space)forward. Attack and hurt the opponent's team until you need to use Taunt to shut(space)down a wall. Counting Taunt turns is a must, because if Hydreigon is at low health the turn its effect ends, the foe's Pokemon might be able to heal or cripple Hydreigon with a status move or heal (changed order here so it doesn't so much like status moves can heal it) if you decide to Roost, and if you don't, (AC) Hydreigon might faint.

Team Options
========

Entry hazards support is extremely important for this set, because it forces a huge amount of switches and helps Hydreigon wear down the foe's opponent's team. Toxic Spikes deserve a special mention because they make Hydreigon's job significantly easier. Pokemon such as Mega Aggron and Roserade are great partners, because they can deal with Fairy-type Pokemon and set(space)up entry hazards. Special sweepers, such as Kingdra and Mega Pidgeot, appreciate Hydreigon's abilities ability to wear down walls that give them troubles.

Other Options
########

Hydreigon can run Choice Specs to hit significantly harder,; (comma -> semicolon) however, without it can't fully take advantage of its coverage without Life Orb. A Choice Band set, with moves such as Outrage, Superpower, Iron Tail, and U-turn, can be used to lure in and beat down special walls, but it is too reliant on surprise factor and prediction. Substitute and Roost can be used in on the same set to utilize Hydreigon's bulk and typing to set up, but it struggles to break through dedicated special walls. (Other Options is all one paragraph, at least as far as I know) Hydreigon has some less effective coverage moves it can use instead of the ones suggested in the sets,; (comma -> semicolon) for example, (AC) Surf, Focus Blast, and Earth Power. And It can boost its Attack and Special Attack with Work Up, but usually is not worth the effort, because the boost isn't significant and Hydreigon isn't particularly hard to revenge kill. (full stop/period)
