Hello,

As part of our effort to award and coddle all users, the Smogon leadership have appointed me to set up Smogon appropriate badge awards for each and every badge that exists in the Pokemon Universe.

To help generate ideas, please post a picture of the badge in question, and provide a title and description similar to what we already have on the site.

User has no life outside of Smogon, and logs in every day to like other peoples posts, known as the "No Social Life" badge

User is a Photo Album Contributor. This badge is awarded to those who post a lot in the photo album to help prove that competitive Pokemon players aren't all huge dorks. Due to programming limits, you cannot have this badge alongside the "No Social Life" badge.

User is a Clout Chasing Contributor. This badge is awarded to Smogon users who don't really want to help with the site in any meaningful way, they just want to do enough to get more 16 x 16 pixel badges under their username. Once it's clear a user qualifies for this due to getting multiple other badges, and dropping off from helping further, they are immediately given the Clout Chaser badge and become ineligible for any others.

Please post your own suggestions to help further the badges Smogon will have in the future.

Re-introducing Jokes Contributor:

  • Jokes Contributor is awarded to users who display an excellent quality of posting and jokes both on the forums and in other community outlets such as Discord, but only in moderator pre-approved posting zones.
  • Jokes Contributor has the following objective requirements;
    • Users are expected to maintain a 4:1 like:post ratio in order to be eligible for and keep this badge.
    • User must have maintained a top 3 wittybot leaderboard for at least 24 hours OR have won at least 3 !witty race 10.
    • User must be able to consistently "own" other posters whose posts are of a noticeably lower caliber.
    • User is consistently posting, like a mad dog, and displays a general interest in jokes.
  • Jokes Contributor has the following subjective requirements:
    • Jokes must be funny

  • Jokes contributor is an activity based badge.
  • Users who either have not made any jokes in a four month period or have dipped below the 4:1 like:post ratio requirement will either be torn to shreds by our trained gorilla or have their badge alumnized. (

  • Top Jokes Contributor (
    ) a.k.a "Funniest Man Alive" is given to those who have gone above and beyond in the off-topic subforum and is awarded at the discretion of the badge leader. Top Jokes Contributor will be given out to users who consistently prove themselves to post quality, open-ended, and even perhaps controversial threads and posts that engage and stimulate the community, or to whoever can guess the number I'm thinking of (1-100.)

is a person whos favorite pokemon is mew. even though this is the fairy badge in galar this still counts
you can also get it by going to rmt and posting a bunch of teams with mew to show your support for mew (atleast 5 teams) and getting atleast 500 messages with 10 of those messages containing mew in them

The "Liked User Badge. This is awarded to users that are well-liked, and have over 1000 liked posts. Users with 10,000 likes get the shiny badge. If the user doesn't get a liked post for a month, their badge becomes grey.


User is an Orange Island Contributor and awarded to users who bring a high level to all non-competitive OI threads or articles. This badge is used because it's a fake Orange Island badge that doesn't matter, just like the arc.

This is the "Doesn't actually play Pokemon" badge. This is awarded to users who are active on Smogon, but don't actually play Pokemon, competitively, or casually. We're not sure why they are here either.

User is a pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-contributor. They helped test Smogon Forums and PS! before they came out and they made atleast 10 viable sets on Pokemon from past generations (all pokemon that are illegal).

User is a Rock Climber or Ground Whereabout. To achieve Rock Climber, they must have made atleast 5 viable sets on Rock-Type pokemon, and to achieve Ground Whereabout they must have made atleast 5 viable sets with Earthquake in them. Be warned that if a Rock-Ground type's set is made officially, it will not count for the Rock Climber achievement - the Rock type must NOT go with Ground Type.

The 'smog criminal' badge (artwork not yet finalized). Awarded based off of the total amount of infraction points that you've received throughout the course of your Smogon career.

3 points currently active is I Could Be Banned and 4 points is a ban, so I think somewhere around 12 total lifetime points is when you should get the badge and 30 is when you should get the shiny version of the badge.
That or the shiny version of the badge is personally awarded by moderators when you have frequently committed impactful and high point value infractions.
