OU Keldeo

[OVERVIEW]

Keldeo's solid Special Attack and Speed stat allow it to function as a premier revenge killer in the OU metagame. A Water / Fighting typing in conjunction with solid bulk for an offensive Pokemon allows Keldeo to check threatening Water-, Fire, Steel-, and Dark-type Pokemon such as Ash-Greninja, Heatran, Mega Scizor, and Weavile, respectively. Keldeo's STAB Secret Sword also allows it to bypass traditional checks to special attacking Water-types such as Chansey and Ferrothorn. Unfortunately, not all shines for Keldeo, as numerous Pokemon such as Toxapex, Amoonguss, and Tapu Fini are all hard counters to any Keldeo set. Keldeo also lacks any powerful coverage options and is forced to rely on weaker moves such as Hidden Power and Icy Wind.

Moves
========

Hydro Pump is Keldeo's most powerful Water-type STAB move, but it is rather unreliable due to its low accuracy. Secret Sword completes Keldeo's dual STAB and complements Scald well, hitting Water-type- resistant Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Rotom-W, and Manaphy for solid damage. Secret Sword also targets the foe's Defense stat, allowing Keldeo to break through specially defensive walls such as Chansey. Secret Sword can also be used to revenge kill Ash-Greninja and Protean Greninja after using Ice Beam or Dark Pulse. Icy Wind is used in order to hit Pokemon such as Latios, Dragonite, and Zygarde for super effective damage, but it is very weak against other targets, especially without a boosting item. Stone Edge can also be used in this slot, allowing Keldeo to properly revenge kill Pokemon such as Volcarona and Mega Charizard Y. Scald is a reliable Water-type STAB move for Keldeo with the added benefit of burning the target 30% of the time, making it trickier to switch into than Surf, as burn cripples most switch-ins to Keldeo. Scald is also very useful for revenge killing Pokemon such as Fire-type Greninja and Landorus-T that don't require Keldeo to use Hydro Pump in order to OHKO, and Scald can also unthaw Keldeo if frozen. Surf is an alternative option for this slot, trading Scald's 30% burn rate for slightly more power. Surf can also act as Keldeo's sole form of Water-type STAB if both Icy Wind and Stone Edge are required. The utility Scald provides is usually more beneficial, however. Hidden Power Electric is also helpful for smacking Gyarados for 4x super effective damage, but due to its low Base Power, it does not OHKO from full HP.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack investment let Keldeo hit as hard and as fast as possible. Choice Scarf is the item of choice for this set, allowing Keldeo to outspeed and revenge kill Pokemon such as Tapu Koko and Ash Greninja. A Timid nature is necessary for outspeeding other Choice Scarf users such as Jirachi, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele. However, a Hasty nature should be used if running Stone Edge, as otherwise Keldeo cannot OHKO Volcarona. A Naive nature is sound in theory, but is suboptimal, as it hinders Keldeo's ability to check Ash-Greninja.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Scarf Keldeo best functions as a revenge killer and late-game cleaner once the opposing team has been appropriately weakened. Even if the opposing team has counters to Keldeo such as Toxapex or Mega Venusaur, it is often optimal to use Scald as they switch in anyway, as burning these foes cuts down on their longevity. Although Keldeo is a solid switch into Dark-types such as Bisharp and Weavile, it must beware of getting its Choice Scarf Knocked Off, as it usually cannot effectively preform its role as a revenge killer without it.

Team Options
========

Keldeo greatly appreciates entry hazard support from the likes of Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Landorus-T to wear down the opposing team for it to clean late-game. Fire-types such as Heatran, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona all make for solid partners alongside Keldeo, as they can combat Grass-types that wall Keldeo such as Amoongus and Mega Venusaur while also wearing down bulky Water-types that take little damage from anything Keldeo can throw at them. Steel-types such as Celesteela, Skarmory, and Magearna are similarly solid partners for Keldeo, as they can switch in on the Grass-, Flying-, Fairy-, and Psychic-types that threaten Keldeo, while Keldeo can take on the Fire-types that bother these Pokemon. Powerful wallbreakers such as Ash-Greninja, Mega Metagross, and Hoopa-U greatly appreciate the revenge killing potential of Choice Scarf Keldeo. Pursuit users such as Tyranitar, Weavile, and Mega Metagross also work very well in conjunction with Keldeo, as they can trap and remove Latios and Latias, which resist Keldeo's dual STAB. In particular, Greninja makes for an excellent teammate alongside Keldeo, since it can not only set up Spikes to aid Keldeo in sweeping late-game, but it can also break through problematic Pokemon for Keldeo such as Toxapex and Amoongus with Extrasensory. Lastly, Zapdos also works well with Keldeo, being able to switch into and combat the bulky Water- and Grass-types that plague Keldeo with Disharge and Heat Wave, respectively.

Moves
========

Scald is Keldeo's most reliable and spammable Water-type attack, burning the target 30% of the time. Alternatively, Hydro Pump hits incredibly hard in conjunction with Choice Specs, but it should only be used when necessary due to its less-than-stellar accuracy. Secret Sword is a moderately powerful and consistent Fighting-type STAB move with no drawbacks that also targeting the opponent's Defense stat, which aids its wallbreaking potential. Hidden Power Electric is used to hit opposing Water-types such as Gyarados, Toxapex, and Tapu Fini for super effective damage. Icy Wind can also be used in this slot in order to nail Latios and Amoonguss for super effective damage while also dropping the targets Speed stat by one stage. Focus Blast is an alternative, capable of 2HKO'ing even the bulkiest of Tangrowth variants, as well as OHKO'ing Rotom-W after Stealth Rock.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack investment let Keldeo hit as hard and as fast as possible. Choice Specs boosts Keldeo's already menacing Special Attack stat to tremendous levels and allows it to wallbreak effectively. A Timid nature is used to ensure that Keldeo outspeeds Pokemon such as Manaphy, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Specs Keldeo is an excellent wallbreaker, and as such should be used early- to mid-game to break through the opposing team's defensive core. Even if the opposing team has counters to Keldeo such as Tangrowth or Toxapex, clicking Scald is often beneficial, as these Pokemon struggle to continually check Keldeo when inflicted with burn. Although Keldeo is a solid switch- in to Dark-types, only allow its Choice Specs to be Knocked Off when it is no longer needed to break through the opponent's team.

Team Options
========

Keldeo greatly appreciates U-turn and Volt Switch support from the likes of Mega Scizor, Landorus-T, and Tapu Koko, respectively, as the free switch-ins provided by these moves allow Keldeo more opportunities to wallbreak. Tapu Koko makes for an excellent partner in particular, as it can break through Flying- and Water-types that bother Keldeo while also setting up Electric Terrain to boost the power of Keldeo's Hidden Power Electric. Similarly, Tapu Koko appreciates Keldeo's ability to wear down and break through Ferrothorn and bulky Ground-types that plague Tapu Koko. Stealth Rock and Spikes support from Pokemon such as Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Greninja further aid Keldeo's wallbreaking abilities. Heatran in particular works well with Keldeo, as it can switch into and remove the bulky Grass-types that wall Keldeo. The Bloom Doom set can lure in and heavily weaken bulky Water-types such as Tapu Fini and Slowbro, which take little damage from Keldeo's STAB moves. Lastly, Pursuit users such as Tyranitar and Weavile also make for excellent partners alongside Keldeo, as they can trap and remove Pokemon such as Celebi, Latias, and Latios that resist Keldeo's STAB moves.

Other Options
=============
A Calm Mind + 3 Attack set with Hyper Beam and Normalium Z allows Keldeo to not only boost its Special Attack but to blow through traditional counters such as Toxapex and Tapu Fini with a powerful Breakneck Blitz as well. This set has only one attempt to get off its Z-Move, though, and it is very weak without a boost. Taunt or Substitute can also be used with Calm Mind, but it is still an uphill battle to break through the aforementioned Pokemon. A Substitute + Endeavor set utilizing Salac Berry is an often unexpected option that can be used as a last ditch effort to greatly weaken a troublesome wall for a teammate or for Keldeo to sweep in the later stages of a battle after activating its Salac Berry. This set is fairly niche and often unreliable, though. Toxic, while undesirable to be Choice locked into, can be useful for chipping away at Pokemon such as Tangrowth and Slowbro that take little damage from any of Keldeo's attacks but despise status ailments. Toxic fails to chip away at two of Keldeo's biggest counters, being Tapu Fini and Toxapex, however, so it is usually not worth pursuing.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Toxapex, Mantine, Tapu Fini, and Slowbro all resist Keldeo's STAB attacks and can either status Keldeo or hit it super effectively with their STAB attacks.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Bulky Grass-types such as Amoongus, Mega Venusaur, and Tangrowth all take little damage from any attack Keldeo can throw at it and in turn can hit Keldeo super effectively with STAB Grass-type attacks.

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Faster offensive Pokemon such as Latios, Mega Alakazam, and Tornadus-T can all outspeed non-Choice Scarf Keldeo and OHKO it with their super effective STAB moves. Assault Vest Tornadus-T can switch in comfortably to almost all of Keldeo's attacks with impunity, making it particularly troublesome.

this is ready for qc. for scarf, i gave toxic a mention in moves but given the prevalence of tangrowth rn i think it could deserve a slash. Didn't mention it on specs because hp elec / icy wind hits much harder but not really adamant about it getting a mention or not.

* Keldeo's solid Special Attack and Speed stat allow it to function as either a premier wallbreaker or revenge killer depending on its item.

* Scald is reliable Water-type STAB for Keldeo with the added benefit of burning the target 30% of the time. Talk about revenge kill targets like Fire-type Greninja or Landorus-T

* Hidden Power Electric nails Pokemon that resist Keldeo's dual STAB such as Gyarados, Mantine, and Tapu Fini for super effective damage. Talk about how it can hit Gyarados at +1 but does not kill; you treat this set kinda weirdly (i.e. these bullets would fit more under a breaker's set as opposed to a revenge killer)
* Icy Wind can also be used in this slot in order to hit Pokemon such as Latios, Dragonite, and Amoongus for super effective damage, but is very weak especially without a boosting item. +Zygarde; Amoonguss takes nothing from Scarf Icy Wind

Where is CM+Normalium Hyper Beam? It dunks Tapu Fini and Toxapex pretty hard with a bit of prior damage. Warrants an OO mention, at least.

Edit: CM Taunt too. Or just Taunt in general.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Hydro Pump
move 2: Secret Sword
move 3: Icy Wind / Stone Edge
move 4: Scald / Surf

This should be the set IMO. Personally, I prefer Stone Edge to Icy Wind and Scald always, but obviously Icy Wind has a lot of merit with DD Zygarde amongst other Pokemon while Surf can be a decent Water-type move to have still. You can also mention Surf in Moves as the only Water-type move to use and mention how Keldeo can use Icy Wind and Stone Edge alongside it at the cost of Hydro Pump's power.

In the current meta Keldeo is favored as a Revenge Killer and, thus, the Overview should emphasize that first before wallbreaking. I agree that once specific Pokemon are gone that Specs Keldeo can wallbreak, but without the Special Attack boost Keldeo will struggle against most walls without catching them on the switch.
Water-Fighting typing in conjunction with solid bulk for an offensive Pokemon allows Keldeo to check threatening Steel-, Fire, Dark-, and Water-type Pokemon such as Mega Scizor, Heatran, Weavile, and Ash Greninja respectively.
Though I don't mind this line I feel that it should mention the most relevant threats first (this being Ash-Greninja then Heatran then maybe Mega Scizor then Weavile I guess). Ash-Greninja is one of the biggest reasons why Scarf Keldeo is very popular since it safely checks everything and can switch into pre-Ash Greninja once or twice.

This is small, but big reasons to use Scald over Surf is because it makes Keldeo trickier to switch into since burn can cripple some Pokemon while also freely unthawing Keldeo if it is frozen (i.e. Keldeo had to switch in on Ice Beam which can happen against Specs Ash-Gren).
* Be cautious when locking Keldeo into Hidden Power Electric, Icy Wind, or Toxic, as many Pokemon can take advantage of this and use Keldeo as setup fodder.
With Hidden Power Electric now in moves it's probably better to list it after Icy Wind.

Speaking of, I kind of disagree that locking yourself into Icy Wind makes you setup fodder. I can think of a few exceptions, of course, but realistically any move could make you set up fodder (i.e. Secret Sword lock can make Keldeo setup fodder for Landorus-T to set up Stealth Rock or just come in on the revenge, take a hit, and Earthquake it). Icy Wind's beauty is that it forces a lot of potential setup sweepers that lack abilities like Clear Body (so regular Metagross pre-Mega) to lose Speed - so actually Icy Wind can make it harder for those to set up properly. Some scenarios where it does suck is instances such as bulky SD Scizor (honestly underwhelming), entry hazards for Ferrothorn, and maybe some threats that don't really give a damn about their slow Speed such as Trick Room Pokemon or things like defensive Celesteela.

Personally I would just recommend removing the line, but that's me.
* Pursuit users such as Tyranitar, Weavile, and Mega Metagross work very well in conjunction with Keldeo as they can trap and remove Pokemon such as Latias, Latios, and Starmie who resist Keldeo's dual STAB.
Starmie is incredibly rare (even rarer than Latias), so I think it's best not to really mention it at all. I also feel that Pursuit-trapping is a little more of a "beneficial but not necessary" ordeal for Keldeo at the moment. Basically - its biggest issues are either Toxapex, Tapu Fini, Tangrowth, Amoonguss, and then Lati@s / Tornadus-T. Basically I would focus on teammates that elminate the Pokemon listed before Lati@s and Tornadus-T first, but definitely don't ignore Lati@s and Tornadus-T either. Hence - Pursuit mention is okay, but definitely not mandatory. Think of it more as a perk if you can add it in a team.

It feels really odd that in Team Options there's no mention of Protean Greninja. Protean can provide two different methods to assist Keldeo (though to be fair it can only help in certain ways). Greninja can provide Spikes for the team, and usually a more fitting option than say some Pokemon like Skarmory on offensive teams, or break through some of the more problematic Pokemon for Scarf Keldeo such as Toxapex and Amoonguss with Extrasensory.

I also find it really weird that you don't mention Zapdos as a potential teammate. Consider what you have listed as a Check and Counter to Keldeo. Now, consider what exactly Zapdos does to interact with Keldeo on that. Roost + 3 Attack Zapdos handles the majority of Water-types, some of the annoying Steel-types, and it can sort of work around some of the Grass-types (albiet clunkily). There are some decent Pokemon listed as teammates, but I think the addition of regular Greninja and Zapdos help flesh out other good teammates as well. There's a few others I could possibly dote on, but I think generally you have some of the points covered.

In Specs Tapu Koko is a pretty nice teammate because it's an offensive pivot that can provide Electric Terrain for Hidden Power Electric. Not the GREATEST thing to abuse, but they both like each other since Keldeo can cheese through Ferrothorn and some of the Ground-types while Tapu Koko can assist against some of the Flying- and Water-types. Tapu Koko also works decently in the Choice Scarf variation of Scarf since, if you do opt for Hidden Power Electric there, you can pair that together. Zapdos works here too since it's an answer to Assault Vest Tornadus-T and a few other lingering things that annoy Keldeo.

If you remember the line that I mentioned back with Scarf I would recommend removing it from Specs here as well. Honestly, I think the only move that can be "seriously" taken advantage of is Hidden Power Electric because it paves ways for DD Zygarde and potential Double Dance Landorus-T (or just SD). Dugtrio in a way too.

For Other Options I would streamline them a bit. Start with that Calm Mind can be paired with Hyper Beam and Normalium Z to bypass Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and other bulky Grass-types that otherwise plague Keldeo's STABs. You can then mention that Taunt or Substitute can work with Calm Mind though it still is an uphill battle to beat threats like Tapu Fini and Toxapex. I would then mention Endeavor since it's okay on the Scarf set. Outside of those I haven't seen nor seen a reason to use RestTalk (seems more ORAS-techy), Life Orb and Expert Belt Keldeos I have not really seen or heard of this generation either, and I guess keeping Hidden Power Flying is okay. I would limit OO to Calm Mind, Normalium Z Hyper Beam, Substitute, Taunt, Endeavor. Toxic still seems OO worthy IMO and I don't think it is worth a slash considering some of the Pokemon that you want to break (Toxapex and Tapu Fini) are completely immune to it, so realistically it's just for Tangrowth and the rather rare Slowbro / Mantine.

Remove Celebi from Checks and Counters - no one uses it. You can add Tapu Bulu in here if you wish since it only minds Scald and repeated Specs Hydro Pumps (Icy Wind is kind of annoying too). Since we're going as far as mentioning Mantine we might as well mention Slowbro and Gastrodon. Slowbro takes nothing from Keldeo while Gastrodon only fears Specs Secret Sword. If you're running Surf and no Scald it's even more free. For Tornadus-T note that Assault Vest Tornadus-T can comfortably take most hits thrown at it; especially from Choice Scarf, and OHKO with STAB Hurricane without many issues. You can probably find a way to incorporate Mega Pinsir as it can revenge kill with Aerilate Quick Attack if needed.

Since there's a lot here tag me when you're done and I'll give the stamp. I might've missed something, but I'll address it there if I need to.

Made all the edits. Even though QC is still discussing scarf Keldeo, I still made your changes to the set as I found them appropriate and agreed with your reasoning. Plus, they can always be changed again later so no harm no foul.

e: talked to hootie who agrees the current scarf set is best so with that this should be ready for stamp.

Yeah looks good. Also in Moves mention that Surf can be used as a standalone Water-type move if you wish to carry both Stone Edge and Icy Wind on the same set. Sorry about the wait on the stamp.

[OVERVIEW]

Keldeo's solid Special Attack and Speed stat allow it to function as a premier revenge killer in the OU metagame. Water-Fighting typing in conjunction with solid bulk for an offensive Pokemon allows Keldeo to check threatening Water-, Fire, Steel-, and Dark-type Pokemon such as Ash Greninja, Heatran, Mega Scizor, and Weavile, and respectively. Hydro Pump is Keldeo's most powerful form of Water-type STAB, however but it is rather unreliable due to its low accuracy. Secret Sword completes Keldeo's dual STAB and complements Scald well, hitting Water-type resists such as Ferrothorn, Rotom-Wash, and Manaphy for solid damage. Secret Sword also targets the opponents physical Defense stat, allowing Keldeo to break through specially defensive walls such as Chansey. Secret Sword can also be used to revenge kill Ash Greninja and Protean Greninja after using Ice Beam or Dark Pulse. Icy Wind is used in order to hit Pokemon such as Latios, Dragonite, and Zygarde for super effective damage, but is very weak against other targets especially without a boosting item. Stone Edge can also be used in this slot, allowing Keldeo to properly revenge kill Pokemon such as Volcarona and Mega Charizard Y. Scald is reliable Water-type STAB for Keldeo with the added benefit of burning the target 30% of the time, making it trickier to switch into than Surf as burn cripples most switch-(hypthen)ins to Keldeo. Scald is also very useful for revenge killing Pokemon such as Fire-type Greninja and Landorus-T,(comma) that don't require Keldeo to use Hydro Pump in order to OHKO and can also unthaw Keldeo if frozen(this is pretty unnecessary imo. keep it if you want but if the next checker omits it, then leave it out). Surf is an alternative option for this slot, trading Scald's 30% burn rate for slightly more power. The utility Scald provides is usually more beneficial, however. Surf can also act as Keldeo's sole form of Water-type STAB if both Icy Wind and Stone Edge are required. Hidden Power Electric is also helpful for outspeeding and smacking Gyarados for 4x super effective damage, however but due to the its low Base Power,(comma) of the move it does not OHKO from full HP.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack investment let Keldeo hit as hard and as fast as possible. Choice Scarf is the item of choice for this set, allowing Keldeo to outspeed and revenge kill Pokemon such as Pheromosa, Tapu Koko,(no comma) and Ash Greninja. A Timid nature is necessary for outspeeding other Choice Scarfers such as Jirachi, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele. However, a Hasty nature should be used if running Stone Edge, as otherwise Keldeo cannot OHKO Volcarona. A Naive nature is sound in theory, however but is suboptimal as it hinders Keldeo's ability to check Ash Greninja.

Although Keldeo is a solid switch into Dark-types such as Bisharp and Weavile, it must beware of getting its Choice Scarf Knocked Off as it usually cannot effectively preform its role as a revenge killer without it.

Team Options
========

Keldeo greatly appreciates Stealth Rock and Spikes hazard support from the likes of Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Landorus-T respectively as they to wear down the opposing team for Keldeo to clean in the late-game. Fire-types such as Heatran, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona all make for solid partners alongside Keldeo as they can combat Grass-types that wall Keldeo such as Amoongus and Mega Venusaur, while also wearing down bulky Water-types that take little damage from anything Keldeo can through throw at them. Steel-types such as Celesteela, Skarmory, and Magearna are similarly solid partners for Keldeo as they can switch in on the Grass-, Flying-, Fairy-, and Psychic-types that threaten Keldeo, while Keldeo can take on the Fire-types that bother these Pokemon. Powerful wallbreakers such as Ash Greninja, Mega Metagross, and Hoopa-Unbound greatly appreciate the revenge-killing potential of Scarf Keldeo. Pursuit users such as Tyranitar, Weavile, and Mega Metagross also work very well in conjunction with Keldeo as they can trap and remove Latios and Latias,(comma) who resist Keldeo's dual STAB. In particular, Greninja makes for an excellent teammate alongside Keldeo as it can not only set up Spikes to aid Keldeo in sweeping late-game, but can also break through problematic Pokemon for Keldeo such as Toxapex and Amoongus with Extrasensory. Lastly, Zapdos also works well with Keldeo, being able to switch in to and combat the bulky Water- and Grass-types that plague Keldeo with Disharge and Heat Wave,(comma) respectively.

Scald is Keldeo's most reliable and spammable Water-type attack, burning the target 30% of the time. Alternatively, Hydro Pump hits incredibly hard in conjunction with Choice Specs, however but should only be used when necessary due to its less than stellar accuracy. Secret Sword is moderately powerful, consistent Fighting-type STAB with no drawbacks, while also targeting the opponent'(apostrophe)s Physical Defense stat,(comma) which aids its wallbreaking potential. Hidden Power Electric is used as it to hits opposing Water-types such as Gyarados, Toxapex, and Tapu Fini for super effective damage. Icy Wind can also be used in this slot in order to nail Latios and Amoonguss for super effective damage, while also dropping the targets Speed stat by one stage.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Specs Keldeo is an excellent wallbreaker, and as such should be used in the early- to mid-game to break through the opposing team's defensive core. Even if the opposing team has counters to Keldeo such as Tangrowth or Toxapex, clicking Scald is often beneficial as these Pokemon struggle to continually check Keldeo when inflicted with burn.
Although Keldeo is a solid switch in to Dark-types, only allow its Choice Specs to be Knocked Off when they are no longer needed to break through the opponent'(apostrophe)s team.

Team Options

Keldeo greatly appreciates U-turn and Volt Switch support from the likes of Mega Scizor, Landorus-T, and Tapu Koko respectively, as the free switch-(hyphen)ins provided by these moves allow Keldeo more opportunities to wallbreak. Tapu Koko makes for an excellent partner in particular, as it can break through Flying- and Water-types that bother Keldeo, while also setting up Electric Terrain to boost the power of Keldeo's Hidden Power Electric. Heatran in particular works well with Keldeo, as it can switch in and remove the bulky Grass-types that wall Keldeo.(period) and The Bloom Doom set can lure in and heavily weaken bulky Water-types such as Tapu Fini and Slowbro, (comma) who take little damage from Keldeo's STAB moves. Lastly, Pursuit users such as Tyranitar and Weavile also make for excellent partners alongside Keldeo, as they can trap and remove Pokemon such as Celebi, Latias, and Latios who resist Keldeo's STAB moves.

A Calm Mind + 3 Attack set with Hyper Beam and Normalium Z allows Keldeo to not only boost its Special Attack, but to blow through traditional counters such as Toxapex and Tapu Fini with a powerful Breakneck Blitz as well. This set has only one attempt to do get off its Z move, though, and is very weak without a boost. Taunt or Substitute can also be used with Calm Mind, however but it is still an uphill battle to break through the aforementioned Pokemon. A Substitute + Endeavor set utilizing Salac Berry is an often unexpected option that can be used as a last ditch effort to greatly weaken a troublesome wall for a teammate, or for Keldeo to sweep in the later stages of a battle after activating its Salac Berry. This set is fairly niche and often unreliable, though. Toxic, while undesirable to be locked into, can be useful for chipping away at Pokemon such as Tangrowth and Slowbro who take little damage from any of Keldeo's attacks but despise status ailments. Toxic fails to chip away at two of Keldeo's biggest counters, being Tapu Fini and Toxapex, however, so it is usually not worth pursuing.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Toxapex, Mantine, Tapu Fini, and Slowbro all resist Keldeo's STAB attacks, and can either status Keldeo or hit it super effectively with their secondary STAB attacks.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Bulky Grass-types such as Amoongus, Mega Venusaur, and Tangrowth all take little damage from any attack Keldeo can throw at it, and in turn can hit Keldeo super effectively with STAB Grass-type attacks.

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Faster offensive Pokemon such as Latios, Mega Alakazam, and Tornadus-T can all outspeed non Choice Scarf Keldeo and OHKO it with their super effective STAB moves. Assault Vest Tornadus-T can comfortably switch in comfortably to almost all of Keldeo's attacks with impunity, making it particularly troublesome.

I know this is out of QC but I have one thing I would like to add.

Please slash Focus Blast on Specs Keldeo's last moveslot and mention it in moves.

Most notably it does this:

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 211-249 (52.2 - 61.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

It is also Keldeo's strongest STAB which makes sense to include on a wallbreaker set. I believe this always OHKOs Ferrothorn as well which Secret Sword may not.

[OVERVIEW]

Keldeo's solid Special Attack and Speed stat allow it to function as a premier revenge killer in the OU metagame. Water-Fighting A Water / Fighting typing in conjunction with solid bulk for an offensive Pokemon allows Keldeo to check threatening Water-, Fire, Steel-, and Dark-type Pokemon such as Ash-(AH)Greninja, Heatran, Mega Scizor, and Weavile, respectively. Keldeo also lacks any powerful coverage options,(RC) and is forced to rely on weaker moves such as Hidden Power and Icy Wind.

Moves
========

Hydro Pump is Keldeo's most powerful form of Water-type STAB move, but it is rather unreliable due to its low accuracy. Secret Sword completes Keldeo's dual STAB and complements Scald well, hitting Water-type-(AH)resistant Pokemon resists (resists cannot be used as a noun) such as Ferrothorn, Rotom-Wash Rotom-W, and Manaphy for solid damage. Secret Sword also targets the opponents physical foe's Defense stat, allowing Keldeo to break through specially defensive walls such as Chansey. Secret Sword can also be used to revenge kill Ash-(AH)Greninja and Protean Greninja after using Ice Beam or Dark Pulse. Icy Wind is used in order to hit Pokemon such as Latios, Dragonite, and Zygarde for super effective damage, but it is very weak against other targets,(AC) especially without a boosting item. Stone Edge can also be used in this slot, allowing Keldeo to properly revenge kill Pokemon such as Volcarona and Mega Charizard Y. Scald is a reliable Water-type STAB move for Keldeo with the added benefit of burning the target 30% of the time, making it trickier to switch into than Surf,(AC) as burn cripples most switch-ins to Keldeo. Scald is also very useful for revenge killing Pokemon such as Fire-type Greninja and Landorus-T,(RC) that don't require Keldeo to use Hydro Pump in order to OHKO,(AC) and Scald can also unthaw Keldeo if frozen. Surf is an alternative option for this slot, trading Scald's 30% burn rate for slightly more power. Surf can also act as Keldeo's sole form of Water-type STAB if both Icy Wind and Stone Edge are required. The utility Scald provides is usually more beneficial, however. Surf can also act as Keldeo's sole form of Water-type STAB if both Icy Wind and Stone Edge are required. (you went from Surf to Scald to Surf again) Hidden Power Electric is also helpful for outspeeding and (The move doesn't allow Keldeo to outspeed it) smacking Gyarados for 4x super effective damage, but due to its low Base Power, it does not OHKO from full HP.

Maximum Speed and Special Attack investment let Keldeo hit as hard and as fast as possible. Choice Scarf is the item of choice for this set, allowing Keldeo to outspeed and revenge kill Pokemon such as Tapu Koko and Ash Greninja. A Timid nature is necessary for outspeeding other Choice Scarfers Scarf users such as Jirachi, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele. However, a Hasty nature should be used if running Stone Edge, as otherwise Keldeo cannot OHKO Volcarona. A Naive nature is sound in theory,(RC) but is suboptimal,(AC) as it hinders Keldeo's ability to check Ash-(AH)Greninja.
